Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

heyzeus002

@Oubie reagarding mario tennis, it is a really good tennis game, good mechanics buttheres no solo mode, mainly online so take that into account before buying. Dont know if people are still playing it anymore

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

heyzeus002

@VanillaLake why thank you kind sir, high praise indeed..actually, wait, youve not mistaken me for someone else again have you?!!!
Also dude i hate your profile pic, brings back somany bad and frustrating memories on mario kart!!

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

heyzeus002

@Yorumi careful dude, all this anti nintendo vitriol you are spewing will cause people to call the 'heavies' around to your house to 'sort you out'!!
In case you fidnt figure im just messing dude

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

heyzeus002

@VanillaLake its ok dude, and if ive said anything to upset you i apologise also. Just wanted to talk about star fox tbh but i guess prople get so roped in the fanboy stuff, no one talks about the bloody game in the end!

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

heyzeus002

@Shadowkiller97 thanks for that, i think i was just hoping for off tv play as inwith full physical controls but i guess you cant do that. Appreciate the response, thanks

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

heyzeus002

@VanillaLake what expression? If you actually want to discuss things then im all ears man. I never said the game is good or bad, i mentioned the crappy graphics, questionable controls and if its like 64 then i will probably like it. Guess ill find out on friday.
Dont trivialise the discussion by being reductive though. I pointed out a contradiction in your opinion which made your point not make sense, so maybe you should look at that instead of saying peace out and whatnot making out as if ive said something nonsensical.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

heyzeus002

@VanillaLake how fid my post not make sense? I answered the points you raised to me.
You seem to be in a running debate with a number of people on here so you may have mistaken me someone else. What i wrote was fairly simple and self explanatory.
You mention review text of NL but i made no mention of their score or their review dude. I actually don't agree with scores, a review should be just that, a detailed text review with no sscore attached. I'm struggling to see why you claim im not making any sense. You replied to me about multiple reviews and i explained that quantity is not really relevant when it comes to subjective opinion.
I never had an issue with checking multiple reviews for information gathering purposes so i have no idea why you're quoting excerpts from a review to me...

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

heyzeus002

@VanillaLake firstly, i was joking dude. Secondly, i will make an exception and oblig on this occasion.
You say to look at 40 reviews and not the scores but the scores are, in theory at least, a direct representation of the actual review text so in that regard, what you say doesn't make sense as the score is linked to the text and vice versa.
You say lokk at 40 reviews assuming that the quantity is relevant, it's not really. I could get 20 reviews for the W101 that say it's not great but in my opinion it's the best game on wii u.
You assume (wrongly i might add) that NL review score means more to me than other sites. They do not. I'm one of those old fools that doesn't really pay attention to scores preferring to actually read the text and watch gameplay vids to see if i would enjoy the mechanics of the game.
Finally, you would do well to remember that these reviewers are like you, me and most people on this site. That is to say,we all like games, just because they write reviews do not make them have an 'experts' opinion so if 40, 60 or 100 sites say a game is rubbish it is just their OPINION. No different to you or i saying the same. In closing, don'tput too much stock in reviews, play it yourself see if YOU like something, iv'e lost count of the amount of great games i've played even thoughthe so called experts advised me not to play them...happy gaming dude

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

heyzeus002

@Action51 it's always amusing listening to people argue about the quality of games based on meta average score! I think SFZ will be like W101, in the sense that it will be received ok on release but as more and more time is spent with it the better it will get. Well, i'm hoping so anyway...

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

heyzeus002

Looking forward to friday despite no off tv play with standard controls (unfortunately, most of my wii u plytime is when the tv is occupied). Should be good fun and a nice change of pace from dark souls 3. Still disappointing from a visual perpective, sparse looking environments are extremely disappointing especially with consoles today. Still, if it plays like 64, i'll be happy..

Re: Star Fox Zero's Arcade Mode Is Aimed At "Advanced Users", Claims Shigeru Miyamoto

heyzeus002

@akaDv8R i think the biggest reservation people have with it is the dual screen scenario. What you say is obviously spot on but usually there's only 1 display to view so it's never an issue but with this i think it'll be a bit more troublesome.
I'm still not convinced tbh but splatoon really surprised me with it's excellent gyro controls after i gave them a proper chance so i remain hopeful. Mind you, that was 1 screen only so was never gonna be as tricky as SFZ. Having said all this, it's still a miyamoto game so i expect to be enjoying myself come friday

Re: IHS Technology Adds to Speculation of an NX Portable Release in 2016

heyzeus002

With all these analyst/ corporate leaks, nintendo should just announce it officially. Make a proper separate show of it akin to sony and microsoft. Lets be honest, i doubt its gonna make a huge dent in wii u sales anyway with it having sold so poorly throughout its life.
whatever happens im quite excited and will be a day 1 buy for me as long as theres no crappy gimmicks involved like the wii motion rubbish. Give me sticks and buttons dammit!!

Re: Hands On: Finding Work and Adventure in Bravely Second: End Layer

heyzeus002

@Mainsaile sorry dude, due to spoilerage im going to have to avoid going into detail (it really is a fantastic game and the dodgy part certainly didnt make me dislike the game or anything).
As the guy above says, it all makes sense story wise, but in raw gameplay terms its a bit cheap tbh.
ITs the one and only thing i would change about the game but let me stress again, its one of the best games around if you enjoy traditional jrpg's and the part in question certainly didnt stop it being the premier rpg on 3ds in my view.

Re: Review: Xenoblade Chronicles X (Wii U)

heyzeus002

Can't wait for friday, hhhyyyyyyyppppppeee!! A quick question, thomas, when using off tv play, can you at least access the map that would have been on the gamepad from a menu option or pausing the game or something? I mainly use off tv play so the lack of map would be a shame for me personally.

Re: Poor Odds of The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth Coming to Wii U as Nicalis Says It's "Not Much More Powerful Than a PS Vita"

heyzeus002

Not much more powerful than a vita?! He must know something that the likes of nintendo/platinum/monolith don't. Come to think of it, nintendo must obviously use a super secret hyperdrive mode for their own games just to make sure they look better than vita games.
Alternatively, this BoI update thing includes a secret whereby you can unlock the full batman arkham knight and witcher 3 games and so they couldn't get it to work on wii u..

Re: You Can't Alter The Chest Size Of Female Characters In The Western Version Of Xenoblade Chronicles X

heyzeus002

Not really bothered by this personally as i don't really mess about with avatar creation but i can understand the decision. Don't wholly agree with it mind you; but i'm assuming nintendo just wants to avoid the inevitable negative games press coverage it would have had if they left it in.
The likes of sarkeesian would have had a field day with this probably and ultimately, nintendo just probably wanted to avoid this type of coverage.

Re: Site News: Nintendo Life Turns 10 Today

heyzeus002

Congratulations for the 10 years and a great site in general, as a lifelong nintendo fan it hurts that its getting more and more difficult to find sites that arent just bashing nintenfo nowadays. Heres to another 10 years for nlife, the second best nintendo fan site on the net, after metro gamecentral obviously😉!
joking aside, well done folks and thank you for your efforts over the years, much appreciated.

Re: Feature: Why We're Still Playing... Super Metroid

heyzeus002

Phenomenal game, true classic indeed. Remember having to ring nintendo power helpline as i was hopelessly stuck but the dude couldnt help over the phone so sent me a map with notes in the post, pre internet days this game was tough for me..

This is one of those rare titles that, for me, get better as they age. Every successive time i play it, it seems to impress me more. Really wish they would remake this for 3ds preferably.

Re: Rejoice, The Wii U Has Finally Outsold Sega's Ill-Fated Dreamcast

heyzeus002

Also forgot about the 60 hz option the dc introduced for us lowly european neanderthals. The dreamcast truly was a revolution at the time and has paved the way for a number of things which are now pretty much taken for granted.
Truly ahead of its time, its no surprise to me that the dc is so fondly remembered, and deservedly so.

Re: Rejoice, The Wii U Has Finally Outsold Sega's Ill-Fated Dreamcast

heyzeus002

Arcade titles and online functionality described as negatives for the dc????!!!!!! What planet was that on then? Here on earth, console online was pioneered by the dreamcast. It was also lovely of sega to send free copies of chu chu rocket for people to try it online. Also recall quake 3 (i think it was 3 anyway) online, good and laggy times!
seriously though, seeing the dc online as a negative is quite possibly the stupidest thing ive heard/ read in a long long time. It was a great shame that here in uk, most parts of the country just didnt have access to adequate net speeds to do the online justice..

Re: Miyamoto and Tezuka Discuss the Difficulties of Balancing Games for Players of All Skill Levels

heyzeus002

While i personally find nintendo games tend to lean towards being too easy, it is an understandable predicament they find themselves in due to wanting to appeal to people en masse. I have always wondered why they don't adopt a viewtiful joe type system (two tier difficulty with kids and adult option and then the adult option is further broken down into standard normal, hard etc).
it may not be a perfect solution but it's better than a game being patronisingly easy as far as i'm concerned.
I guess the bigger issue these days is developers assuming people don't want to improve their skills and get better and they're probably right. It's also a lot easier not having to bother with a properly distributed skill floor and skill ceiling arrangement. Presumably, publishers don't like wasting money on such trifling matters.

Re: Star Fox Zero Delayed To Achieve a "Platinum Feel" in Quality

heyzeus002

@MussakkuLaden how dare you!! Thats tantamount to sacrilege my friend!
on a serious note, im glad they do tbh because nobody seems interested in making games like that so platinum are the last bastions of these action games in a sense and long may it continue as far as im concerned.
also, their games are very different mechnically even thougb the type of game is the same so they at least feel unique. You only need to play w101 and bayonetta to realise this. Finally, they did do a space rpg type thing years ago (infinite space,ds) which was pretty good i thought but action games are clearly where their strength is.

Re: Star Fox Zero Delayed To Achieve a "Platinum Feel" in Quality

heyzeus002

At first i was quite put off by this due to motion controls and ps2 visuals but having tried splatoon gyro controls thats not really an issue for me anymore. Glad about the delay, hopefully they can polish it up to the usual nintendo sheen. Platinum being involved is cool too since im a huge fan of their work.

Re: Nintendo Download: 1st October (North America)

heyzeus002

@Crono1973 the old 3ds can handle gba games. The ambassador gba games were made available when there were no other 3ds models on the market . So yes, it can handle gba games its just obviously nintendo deciding its not a financially wrthwhile thing to do.

Re: Mario History: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Mario's Tennis - 1995

heyzeus002

@PigmaskFan except it is a Mario game. The clue is on the box, the bit where it says super Mario world 2..you could argue whether this was a marketing ploy to give this new experimental game more presence but regardless it will always be called Mario world 2. I'd agree the subsequent Yoshikawa titles aren't Mario games but this one certainly is.

Still the best Mario 2d game for me, and quite possibly my favourite game of all time. I'd go bats hit crazy if they released the snes version, while the gba version is very good port, it's not a patch on the snes version.

Re: Mario History: Super Mario World - 1991

heyzeus002

Prefer smw2: Yoshis island myself, best 2d marionette game for me but this is a close second. Remember being blown away by those shiny graphics at the time. Just completed nsmb u yesterday and while I really enjoyed it, I feel that spark of magic wasn't quite there, the 2d marios feel too formulaic now. Or maybe Nintendo have just been spoiling me for 25 odd years so I now expect magic from their games as standard..

Re: Nintendo: Wii U GamePad Is The Only Real Innovation This Console Cycle, But We Didn't Showcase It Well Enough

heyzeus002

I've felt the same after owning a ps4 and xbone. The gamepad, for my money anyway, is by far the best new thing from this generation. Just the off TV play does it for me to be honest.
Having said this, in nearly all other aspects the wii u is third best and I feel Nintendo really dropped the ball when it comes to other things like online stuff etc.

My main gripe with the gamepad is that I feel Nintendo designed the gamepad in a vacuum without thinking of how the games benefit, instead betting that developers will find ways to use it to its potential in the future. This, I feel, is totally at odds with the Nintendo philosophy whereby they created a game but needed to rethink the input method in order to do the game justice. Miyamoto said something similar about this desired order where the game comes first (he was speaking in reference to super Mario 64).

The fact that Nintendo themselves haven't been able to consistently use the game pad in meaningful ways just goes to show how difficult it can be seeing as Nintendo are probably the best developer out there. Still, give me off TV play and Nintendo's superlative software and I'm happy. The wii u may not be a hit but man, it's got some awesome games and that's what matters the most to me.
Someone on these forums (sorry, forgot your tag)did make me think though when they said the wii u is like the Saturn for Sega and the nx will be the dream cast. I really hope this doesn't come to pass. People around the industry mock Nintendo quite openly these days (fallout 4 guy at e3 was the latest I recall) but without Nintendo, à lot of magic and innovation would be lost..

Re: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate's August DLC Ramps Up the Challenge

heyzeus002

@ollietaro I've soloed pretty much everything (just got final scroll to unlock). It gets hard but if you're patient then it's manageable for sure.the tricky part for me is focusing on 1 target while still keeping an eye on the other one as there aren't other people to take the heat off. Though smoke bombs help in this regard a lot. Personally I feel the game becomes too easy in mp, so I tend to solo everything for the challenge and only do mp for fun or just to mix it up a little.
Was hoping for black fatty this month, need 2 eyeballs to max out my fatalism glaive but oh well

Re: Chris Pranger From Nintendo Treehouse Discusses Harsh Realities Of Localisation

heyzeus002

Pretty standard info as far as I'm concerned. It's just one of those things that annoy us gamers the most as oftentimes, the types of wares that appeal to us are more niche and so obviously aren't going to have the mainstream appeal that is necessary to sell millions and millions of copies so localisation isn't always a sure thing. Having said this, I am glad that Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft and 99% of other devs release pretty much simultaneously these days. Things are infinitely better now than ever. Back in the day , for us Europeans at least anyway, things were terrible. It was as if every game was published by atlus, that is to say we would usually be waiting at least 6 months to a year for most games and that's a best case case scenario as a lot of the time they just didn't bother releasing at all. Super Mario rpg springs to mind...

Re: Zombi Reveal Trailer Suggests That Wii U Gamers Need Not Be Too Jealous

heyzeus002

On topic, it seems ubi are testing waters for a potential sequel/ franchise treatment. That's apparently their modus operandi these days, according to a Dev in an interview a fair while back, their goal is to basically have multiple ass creed style franchises where they can churn them out on an annual basis. This 'must turn into franchise' mentality is really hurting the quality of their games in my opinion. Whatever happened to just trying to make a good game that people want to play and then if it proves a success the door's wide open to make a sequel, kind of like the original assassins creed funnily enough..

Re: Zombi Reveal Trailer Suggests That Wii U Gamers Need Not Be Too Jealous

heyzeus002

@DarthNocturnal The Ac Unity Patch To Which you refer was actually 6-7 gb. The 40 gb patch was a glitch on the xbox one version. Agree with you in general, I guess publishers know that the video game industry is ripe for exploitation and many people will still pay up in spite of issues. Even wb and rocksteady were aware of the pc issues (according to anonymous insider leaks) yet they still released it anyway only pulling it down eventually for damage control reasons no doubt. And don't even get me started on that destiny guy, luke Smith I think his name is. Absolutely appalling way to speak about your so called fans

Re: Tomonobu Itagaki Outlines His Goals With Devil's Third and the Determination to Finish the Long-Running Project

heyzeus002

@JJtheTexan that my friend is famitsu in a nutshell and has been like that for a number of years now. It really is promo material rather than what we as gamers would like it to be. Famitsu is like reading the back of the game box, a lot of info but nothing significant in terms of an opinion about the actual quality of the game and it's mechanics etc
