@SuperiorYoshi87 true in a sense about the community making it competitive but its give and take, the game has to allow that on its end.for instance, capcom vs snk 1 and sf x tekken (pre patch) weren't taken seriously at a competitive level due to issues with mechanics so even though the community wanted them yo be competitive, they just weren't mechanically so a lot will depend on the game and not just the community. Also, sf4 does not favour defensive play.nor does it favour offensive play.thats what makes it brilliant competitively, it is supremely well balanced and probably the best example in videogame history of a game that can cater to competitive and a non-competitve audience with equal aplomb.
The only dw ive played is a gundam one on 360 and the actual gameplay was average at best but the source material kept me playing for a while but im not a huge zelda fan so will be giving this a miss
They should have got team ninja, platinum or capcom to do this sort of game.the combat could have had some depth then and would have been a better game at least. Still, the dw series sells well in japan and that's what nintendo need so hope it does well sales wise even if it is only in japan.
Shame really.say what you will about ea but they do make a very good football game.the thing that annoys me is that they released fifa 13 on the u and then not the subsequent ones citing poor sales but don't seem to understand that most wii u owners aren't stupid and didn't buy it as it was fifa12 but with new kits. Which as someone above says is disgusting behaviour and one of the reasons why I cant wait to see the fall of ea.
On amore positive note, good e3 showing for the u, cant wait for most of the stuff shown and splatoon was great to see, bayo 1 packaged with 2 is awesome news for me as that was my personal game of last gen and zelda looks crazy.was surprised they didnt show a sizzle reel of ds vc games though seeing as it was announced a while back..
@readyletsgo I'm pretty much the same as you and was really hoping e3 would bring some megaton vc announcements, was hoping for gcn in particular. The thing I dont get is why cant they just release all the wii stuff?! Annoys me no end that these games are available but I want to play with the gamepad so they're no good to me at present.iwata was saying how he wants show the value of the gamepad and yet they fail to do simple things like this that would increase the uses of it.as far as im concerned, gamepad control compatibility should have been there on day1 with regards to wii vc and n64 vc.gcn would have been slightly trickier without the analogue triggers but still very doable.and like you say, its been 2 years and the wii u still has software drought issues and yet nintendo is the only company to have an extensive back catalogue spanning decades that they dont seem to be aware of.software droughts should not be in nintendo's lexicon oweing to their peerless history if only they used the vc properly.uber annoying. ..
@KennyPowers it's obvious dude.in a racing game, going faster will help.it may not make you win but then I never said it will guarantee you 1st place all the time for the reasons that you mentioned. But you, good sir, are missing the point entirely.allow me to elaborate: if you are fire hopping in a race and say it helps you shave off 4 seconds in total so you are 4 seconds ahead of the pack.then lets just assume that a blue shell would make you lose 3.5 seconds.in this scenario you would still be .5 secs ahead beacause of the extra time shaved due to fire hopping.your argument while it may be more indicative of an actual race, is also inherently flawed due to the fact that you dont spend ALL your time getting hit.you spend more time actually moving than in hit/recovery frames.finally, if you cant grasp the concept that being able to GO FASTER IN A RACING GAME WILL HELP then there's not much else anyone can say as logic seems to have deserted you so stick a fork in me because I'm done..
@KennyPowers how can going faster by making the boost more effective NOT be beneficial in an online competitive race? If there's a way to go quicker then of course it's going to help! Naturally, it may not help as much as it would in time trials when you have an empty track and no weapons to be hit with but going faster in a racing game is obviously going to help..
@Einherjar the street fighter manual mentions only special moves and the like so is that the only 'valid' mechanics of the game?? The wonderful 101 manual makes no mention of pre buffered unite morph commands chained after one another so is that an invalid mechanic?? Manuals only scratch the surface of mechanics and to deem any that aren't included as invalid is quite silly and you may have misunderstood what the purpose of an actual manual is
It's not like a glitch shortcut in mk7 and in no way should be patched.it is a part of the mechanics and to argue against it seems silly just like it would be for someone to say that such a person only beat me because they can drift better than I can so it needs patching out.ridiculous indeed.street fightet is a good example in this case, so many characters have little tricks (frame traps, set ups, vortexes etc) that players discover after time which werent intentional by the developers but are left in.ultimately, everyone can do this fire hopping thing so heres a novel thought, instead of asking for a patch one could always actually practice
@Pit-Stain would have to agree. Enjoyed all of them to be honest but gba and gcn are joint crown holders for me.i like 8 a lot but at the moment I feel like the tracks in that (the 16 new ones) aren't of a consistently high quality, something I almost expect due to nintendo's quality design throughout 20 plus years.i feel like the tracks in 7 are much better if taken as a whole.but that's just me and I'm sure many people prefer the tracks of 8.

@Technosphile I don't think that would work for a lot of games.the ds had two screens but it was essentially 1 screen with a strip of plastic in between so the dual screen worked because it took into account the mechanics of the human eyes. This is why the gamepad/tv combo isn't the same and doesn't work anywhere near as well as the ds/3ds.the gamepad is excellent for a lot of reasons but dual screen gaming akin to the ds just isn't one of those reasons. Of course this could all change if humans had 2 pairs of independent eyes..
Ill probably pick up the ps4 version at some point and not the wii u one.not really bothered about what they do with the gamepad as I only have 1 pair of eyes so can only look at either the tv or the gamepad so anything they do with it would work just the same on the tv from a pause screen.
@GuruOfGreatness I think what most people refer to when they put forward that argument is playing against different people so obviously the larger the player pool the more likely you are of playing different people. I jad blops 2 on wii u and I did find myself playing a lot of the same people on a regular basis. Personally im not too bothered by it, I had a blast with blops 2 regardless but I can understand why people cite the low wii u numbers as a reason not to get it on the u. Its the gimped versions with no dlc that bothers me more tbh. Ill be most likely getting cod aw on ps4 but this is great news for those of us that want it on wii u
Seems like a wise move and a good design choice to combat potential readability issues on the smaller screens.looking forward to the 3ds version more than the wii u one personally, something about playing smash on handheld seems decidedly 'next generation' to me.just hope it's mid summer as opposed to right at the end like in august or something.
One of my main hopes for e3 is gcn vc for wii u and this makes me hopeful..and then I realise it's nintendo so it's probably not happening soon.guessing they'll focus on ds vc for this e3 but like any nintendo fan I feel obligated to keep the dream alive!
@bouncer0304 re physical/ retail prices; businesses will always charge for a product what they feel people will pay.a lot of people wrongly assume that digital will cost less due to less cost involved. A good example our accounts lecturer used to give was nike trainers.do people really think they cost 100£ to make? Of course they don't but nike know that people are more than willing to pay so why charge less.it is often a misconception that companies base their prices on costs or profit margins but it is almost always the case that the price is determined by what people are willing to pay. And yes, nintendo account system is archaic, I hope they adopt sony's way because their system is fantastic.
Whether its on disc or not is irrelevant really.the fact is if it was ready on day 1 it could have been on disc and part of the game as is . However, nintendo, like any other business needs to make money and this generation has provided ample evidence that gamers are more than willing to cough up for dlc, day 1 or otherwise. Ultimately, the morality of day 1 dlc is another debate entirely and as long gamers help publishers to maximise revenues in this way it will continue, supply and demand and all that. Personally I love mario golf and feel that for the price I paid it's fantastic value and a fantastic game with or without dlc. Also the price of the dlc is fair for the content imo as opposed to say fire emblem which I thought was way overpriced
@Jazzer94 after falling off the cliff a rectangular black object was seen following the same fate.it was an original xbox sent down to make sure the job was done properly. Horrendous stuff indeed..
Played the demo, reminds me a lot of everybodys golf on vita which is no bad thing at all. Looking forward to this more after playing the demo but why oh why does nintendo have usage limits on demoes?!? I guess I know why but seriously man, it's like a parent rationing sweets for their young child lest they may be corrupted by various evils and bad teeth..
Hope something similar comes to Europe. Would get nsm2 and sm3dl maybe as I prefer digital for 3ds but Tbh the eshop prices are ridiculous and should be lower to begin with but I guess if people pay then nintendo jave zero reason to lower it.
On topic I was actually more excited about the 3ds version. Something about playing smash on handheld just speaks to me probably due to it being the 1st portable version maybe.getting both most likely even though im not really a smash fan.the world cup and smash? Good times ahead in summer
Because lest we forget the n64 and gcn had all these franchises and more besides yet were swallowed up by competition. Ultimately nintendo will make the u profitable ive no doubt about that and while the world and their dogs worry about sales ill be enjoying the u for the games
I actually think the release timing of both is shrewd from nintendo.its more likely that the perceived superiority of the wii u version would have hurt 3ds sales rather than the other way around so releasing 3ds first seems sensible.personally I think the whole 'saving the wii u' angle is very misguided...
