Re: Poll: Did Nintendo Triumph With The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at E3?

@JaxonH your basically asking me to risk it hahaha. Ofcourse im gonna compare it to other open world games, thats all i have to compare it to since i havent played any zelda game before. I mean in just finished Witcher 3: Blood and compared to that, the trailer and treehouse showcase seems lackluster.

What i mean about visuals is the little details they put in the environment, what i saw in the trailer and the treehouse is the forests, plains, ruins seems two toned and barren of environmental detail. The trees looks like placeholder assets. I mean my favorite thing to do in elder scroll games or the witcher is to go to unbeaten paths and be wowed by the environment.

Again visuals are all i have to base my opinion on the game since i dont have a history withbthe franchise

@JaxonH honestly i wasn't impressed, this will be my first zelda game (PC gamer since 90s) and i find it lackluster. Environmetal detail is lacking, textures seems to lack detail, barren terrain. I mean the art direction is good but meh techbically. The mecahnics doesnt seem to be anything new to me.

In open world games i like to wander atound and create my own mini stories and adventures (thats what makes open world games fun for me) if the environment and visuals are lacking it may affect my immersion and enjoyment of the game.

Re: Splatoon Producer on Pre-Release Concerns and the Future of the Franchise

@AlexSora89 but could a sequel really sell NX? Outside Nintendo fans there wasnt really that big a hype for the game, it didnt sell any significant number of Wii U nor did it generate any long lasting buzz in the competitive communities or in the general gaming media in general.

The problem i think in comparing splatoon with halo and cod is that the only thing they have in common is their online multiplyer component. While splatoon may be a very fun game, you cant really sell or advertise fun. What splatoon doesnt have is the wow factor in which big set pieces, "cool" protagonists, pretty graphics tend to bring. In short, splatoon will be very hard to market to mainstream multiplayer shooter fans, it will be a tall order for splatoon to carry NX like halo carried the xbox.

@Xenocity Literally everything else is bombing on PS4 and Xbox One?

Rare replay sold well, just dance sold well, lego games still sell well, minefraft still sell, disney infinity sold millions, skylander sold millions, tell tale games sold well, so on and so forth

There are lots of games that are not action, sports, rpg that sells well in PS4 and XBox One.

Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Places the Emphasis on Young Staff and Targeting Consumers Beyond Games

@acegibbo with regard to splatoon achieving 4 million sales, i think the lack of competition has something to do with that since before splatoon was released there was a gaming drought and that there really is no other shooter in WiiU to compete with splatoon.

Whats more telling is that it did not sparked any substantial interest outside the nintendo fan base. A month after release, videogame articles, highlight videos and other video game related media dried up. Outside my 2 other wiiu owning friends, no one is talking about it today.

Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Pinpoints NX and Mobile as Key Areas to Deliver 'Nintendo-Like' Profits

@aaronmclaren you have to understand that for investors, the profits made by nintendo doesnt amount to much because its so little. The minuscule amount of the profit prevents nintendo from declaring the distrubution of dividends. In otherwords, unless Nintendo increase their profits they may as well sell their shares since at the moment they are not reaping any benefits from the little nintendo profits.

Re: Talking Point: Online Gaming Can't Recreate the Unique Fun of Local Multiplayer, Yet It's Dominant

I keep reading that splatoon is a big hit last year. But is it really? Outside my 2 other nintendo loving friends, no one talks about it, its almost nonexistent in lets play videos, articles, and any other media such as webcomics, highlight videos, videogame articles etc etc. I love splatoon but it never really took off, i say that rocket league is a bigger hit than splatoon. Splatoon neve really went beyond nintendo fans. You cant call that a "Big hit".
