Re: Beleaguered UK Retailer GAME Blames Lack Of Switch Stock For Profit Warning

davetheshrew

They are taking preorder deposits on snes mini to the tune of £50, if they go under this year you will lose your deposit and not get an item. Be warned the retailer Peacocks did the same thing with gift vouchers before calling in the administrators and consequently gave a big up yours to thousands at christmas by not honouring voucher purchases.

Buy from game, lose your deposit when they go under. This stuff DOES happen. It could be a planned cash grab, be warned.

Re: Editorial: The Frustrating Quest for a SNES Mini is Bad Business for Nintendo

Lets say they make 2 million of these world wide, thats a million more than NES mini and it wont even scratch the surface of demand but honestly its not the end of the world. How 'significant' a number you want? This isnt a main console, its a nostalgia trip, a trinket. I see no reason why they should make millions of these.

I got one on ninty uk store no problem. They sold out in 8 minutes but I saw the notification and went straight away, as you should if you are a fan, if you arent fast you are last.

Re: Guide: Getting Started With Star Fox Zero and Mastering the Controls

I wish I could notch a deadzone in the motion control, I would prefer if the sensitivity tapered the further you went off screen because as it stands I must tilt the pad over 33 degrees to get full reach, for comfort it would be better to end the reach at around 20 degrees at the very maximum. Im going to check settings see if there is anything like this.

Re: AMD Earnings Call Says "New Consoles" Are Launching Later This Year

davetheshrew

AMD didn't make the processor for the Wii U, its a 3 core powerpc 750. The Latte GPU however , is made by AMD. If Ninty went with AMD for the processor it would have opened the door to much more cross platform games being that the PS4 and XBOX One run the same x86 CPU.

I understand why Nintendo decided against doing this as it would cause headaches in virtual wii and as recent history shows Nintendo ease consumers gradually into new consoles by incorporating the last gen console into the new one so hardware changes cant be too far off the previous generation. This may change with the NX. If CEMU is anything to go by Nintendo can emulate the Wii U using x86, albeit being a huge amount of work.

Re: Review: Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty (Wii U eShop)

Bought it. Bit sad that Ninty doesnt have a refund button. The framerate drops are ridiculous for a retail game on a console, I was utterly surprised this game got through ninty's supposedly strict Q&A process. The Elum rides are unbearable, it felt like running crysis on a pentium 4 (Im old). The parts where the framerate held solid gave a great experience and brought me right back to when I was around 16 and played Abes odysee on release day, sadly though for the money outlay I'm disappointed.

Also, the game has co-op, why was this not mentioned?

Re: Review: FAST Racing NEO (Wii U eShop)

davetheshrew

just got the game, it needs work. The online is buggy as all hell, the waiting for player part is an epileptic fit of fast cuts, mostly showing walls, floors, sometimes the sky, the camera certainly has trouble finding the cars, makes it feel cheap and broken. Sometimes I join a match, im on the grid, i hit accelerate and the match ends! literally a 0.5 second race, such joy.

The graphics arent that good, certainly not as good as reviewers have been saying. Need for speed most wanted U has proper nice graphics for a racing game on wii u (utilises the extra vram for sharp PC quality texturing), mario kart does, but this needs AA implemented, its a jag fest.

In saying all that, the game IS good, needs work, but overall its fun, not 9/10 fun, more like 6/10 until bugs are ironed out at the very least.
