I swear that I've heard months ago already that Void and K.Rool's VA are in the MK World credits. On top of DK and Pauline obviously missing costumes compared to everyone else, it seems evident that they were gonna have some DLC regarding Bananza at some point. It's just coming a little later than expected, probably because of spoilers reasons
That's why it needs the rom for the assets. 0 likeness in the code
@tseliot
The Mario 64 PC decompilation would have been given a C&D a long time ago if they could, but they can't. They're only going after pre-packaged download, hence why you need the room to do it
There's even ways to do it legally. Apparently the VC downloads on Wii U, if you put it in an SD card, you can access the rom this way. Or something like the Joey N64 where you can dump it yourself, if you wished
@Jayenkai This is not a "real" project from scratch, this is decompiling the game's code and then making it readable. They didn't build anything from the grounds up
Because it comes with 0 of the assets and it grabs the assets from the rom, hence why the project is able to stay up without being shut down
As to why is this useful. We now have complete access to code, and it isn't restricted by the N64 system limitations and knowledge of the platform, so anything is possible and anyone with any coding knowledge can do whatever they want with it, which will lead to much bigger and better changes than just hacking the rom
It's a beginning, but it's basically, once again "Why wasn't this out like years ago?", it's always too late. Same with the Badge Arcade, released just a tad late. The main issue is that this is pretty lame for something that came out this late. These ideas should've been there from close to the beginning and the idea should've evolved or have way more stuff (+3rd party stuff) by now
I'll add that this is pretty lame because it's just borders and random transparent official art that goes through a program to paste it into a picture and set it as a profile picture. This is incredibly basic
@Rpg-lover As I said in the previous comment, those games would be more ignored (as in, less negativity) if it wasn't for the insufferable atmosphere around them. I knew I would get moderated despite not breaking any rules and I got hit with a nonsense moderation explanation on top of that, which they won't be able to justify and probably won't even attempt to
People are aware of the push
People are aware of the articles about it that just keep coming out again and again
And people are aware that the authors wants the comments to be nothing by hand-in-hand rainbow harmony praise yadda yadda
This is exactly the behavior that makes all of this extremely insufferable. And this is coming from a Yuri anime fan
@Raylax legit, who keeps hiring these devs? The only good things Artoon/Arzest ever made were co-produced
They were given Yoshi's Island, as is, to make for DS. And the game's OST got massacred, additions don't fit, missing effects from the snes ver, lame gimmicks and some of the worst level design I've experienced, every single bit of it was painful to behold
> It’s vital that we recognise the excellent work of organisations such as the Game Preservation Society and The Video Game History Foundation; they’re at the forefront of ensuring that the industry’s history, including gaming publications as well as actual source code, are preserved.
That's nice and all, but if nobody has access to it, is it really preserved? While they probably have their proper backups (At least, I hope so), have a proper disaster and the wrong people dies and the data might be unrecoverable if no contingency plan
Basically, 120% I would rather the source code to leak on the Internet than to be in the hands of these organisations
They apparently have "restored lost games", if so, which? And can I even download them? If I can't, what the freaking point? The Hidden Palace is accomplishing much more with it's preservation of games prototypes here, with it all available on the Internet Archive
The hell's wrong with Nintendo. Ever since the Wii or 3DS, they became annoying about Animal Crossing's save files
The question is why? Why does it matter? Who cares if people hack and duplicate their items in a game like this? There's no real economy balance to speak of. Plus Switch hacking is a thing, what will prevents hackers from at least trading locally? Nothing, that's what
So all that serves is screwing up people who want to play legit, or prevents people to really play how they want
I'm pretty sick of Nintendo's treatment of the overall Mario series in such games
While I loathe the Alphadream Mario RPG games, where's the Superstar Saga characters?
Paper Mario characters? Where's Wart? Taranga? The other various bosses from the Land series? Maybe Captain Maple? The princess from Wario Land 4? Do we even have playable Piantas and Piantissimo? Foreman Spike? All the Wario Ware characters, all the Donkey Kong characters and probably many more I'm forgetting, there's probably a billion forms of Mario they could pull into this too like they did with Odyssey
>As you say yourself, the original Japanese chapter 2 refers to a cultural phenomena that has no direct western equivalent in the west, so once again I don't feel its removal is particularly devastating
Do you know what I like in my foreign media? The foreign media. The fact that it's stemming from a foreign culture with foreign subjects and all that
Seriously though? A game about J-Pop and Japanese idols censoring something about J-Pop and Japanese idols is "not a big deal". Are you for real?
What is this then? What is this but not a written absolution of the censorship? If not outright saying "This censorship is ok because I don't like it". You just had to go and include this didn't you?
Couldn't have written this neutrally, no siree, gotta make a jab on the people who's mad about the censorship too and then making sure to let everyone know "it's not a big deal", despite clearly knowing it is. It's like this in every single one goddamn reviews on NintendoLife, the game is a tad ecchi and all the reviewers cannot contain themselves, just gotta go and show how much they loathe the subject matter in any ways possible
>You’ll no doubt see some chat in the comments about how the censorship in this version is so outrageous that Nintendo and Atlus may as well have kicked your door down and slapped your mother right in the face, but the reality is that the few changes made don’t affect the game in any way, and simply make things a tad less creepy. Besides, this time Japan gets the ‘censored’ version too, so it’s not like there’s a special uncut Switch version the west is missing out on
Outright advocating censorship in your reviews now NintendoLife?
Once again, I'll remind everyone that S or M + US or UM was 10$ less expensive than S or S + expansion. And these were full games, with graphics about on par with the system capabilities, and are two full physical games that has all pokémons
So what do we even win here? The story sucks, the difficulty sucks. Do we even trust Nintendo to even provide good content here? Also, the only reasons we got more pokemons in the first place is because of the DLC.
It's absolutely money grabbing here, seriously, stop releasing articles sucking up to Game Freak, it's pathetic
This is a terrible deal all around. The Pokemon porting most likely wouldn't have happened if there wasn't any paid DLC. They're only done this to justify the paid DLC that should've already been in the game
So basically now, pay for your post game content instead of it being included! Keep in mind that this release, that basically look like a souped up 3DS game, is more expensive than the previous release...
So, it released looking like a 3DS game, with less content and now you gotta buy the post game? Yikes
Game Freak/TPC are really gonna get it short of announcing all Dexit Pokemon back
Some people are expecting the 4th gen remake, and if it's this soon, I can't see it being any much better than S&S, will probably take the same exact souped up 3DS graphics with massive texture issues here and there and will probably be missing 'mons
They're not going to get out of the direct looking like winners that's for sure and that'll probably start a new wave of people being angry at them
I don't believe we'll get a "Pro" version. Too many hurdles. If devs want to make games compatible with both, they'll have to test 3-4 modes? Yeah...
A Switch 2 that's fully backward compatible is the most likely scenario. More power so that it could still get PS5/X downports and enough power to get comparable PS4/One ports or something, and enough power to finally be full VR
The Switch seems perfect to just slide in a VR helmet really, so are the controllers, so a full VR enabled Switch 2 would make the upgrade totally worth it
A bunch of 3rd parties on there (like Sonic Lost World, Deux Ex) are pointless additions IMO because they're available elsewhere and on PC
Then there's Wooly World and Nes Remix that got a 3DS version
Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival should come back as an enhanced port (Add some actual gameplay elements to the board FFS. There's basically nothing to do but roll the dice) and make it free, as it was initially announced. Game is too lame to make anyone pay for it, seriously
False. Actually the game was not euro 50hz optimized and would run normally on a NA/JP Snes
However, the game has a special lock-out chip or something, in which, to make it work on a NA Snes you have to use very specific rare devices. Some will make it work, but won't save. One device that make it work and save is the Pro Action Replay MK III. There's another one IIRC
If they go the extra mile, fix Robotrek's terrible translation. It's mostly mediocre until at some point some villain's monologue gets extremely broken. At least fix that

Oh please. A company as a whole can represent themselves, but to act like fandom is a monolithic thing is idiotic
Quite frankly Game Freak long had it coming, the complacency is off the chart, and quite frankly, insulting. A company that thought they could get away with this much for too long
Pokemon home pretty much being pointless due to not being able bring over all your mons
I've been against the latest high end graphics for years. However this entry is just embarrassing, full of glitches, looks unfinished and an emulator upscaled Sun/Moon looks better than this. What the hell?
No background in battles when even let's go did it
Game Freak's terrible comment about EXP Share
Mass reusing assets and animations
etc...
All of the screw ups, not looking any better than a 3DS games and they do cuts? Oof, that's bad
They really had it long coming
Really, just voting with your wallet is not enough nowadays when big corps can just ignore the hell out of you because everyone else is still gonna buy it anyways and continue the cycle of complencency because they could get away with it. This is why the outcry is so big about stuff lately, there's just really no other ways than outright humiliate the company, and Game Freak has been rightfully thoroughly humiliated in the past few months
