It's not suprisingly that Go isn't included as while the rules are simple, it's strategically immensely complicated, takes a long time to play decently and is also difficult to tell if you're doing well. It's a game that takes a lot of dedication and isn't pick up and play.
Go takes far too long to play a game on a full sized board, thus not a good choice for a collection of casual pick up and play games. Any AI would likely play terribly, although to be fair it would probably be good enough to beat most casual players easily. I can see it would be kind of cool but I understand why it's missing.
True. But from what I've read I have the impression that there was only so much content that could be delivered in the work hours available to deliver the game to budget. You can't deliver more content than there's time or money for.
I've always found Nicalis games to be (mostly) overpriced in comparison to other publishers, so I'm glad that the discounts make these games around what they are actually worth (imo).
No hidden gems or under rated games on this list. Anyone who keeps half an eye on games will be well aware of these titles and their various pros and cons.
While I don't think it should be a race to the bottom for pricing, this shows that the game was likely set at too high a price to appeal to all but the most interested buyers upon release. Of course many publishers only set a high initial price in order to have plenty of wiggle room for price cuts later in the product's life.
I found Golf Story far too long and repetitive for what it offered gameplay wise. Hopefully this will mix things up and provide a more varied experience.
Anything less than 'Positive' often has either fundamental design and/or technical issues. Barents Sea is often 40-50% off on steam, so it's looks worth a buy at that price on Switch.
That is true but there are reviews that point out a wide range of issues with RE. I'm not saying it's a bad game, only that it has issues that could bother some people.
@Fiskern 'Mostly positive' tends to mean average 6/7 out of 10 on steam. I've read various reviews of the game and watched some lets plays too as it piqued my interest. It appears to be a reasonably decent game but not without issues. Though I haven't played it myself, to be fair.
It's an old pc game, mixed reviews on steam. Main complaints are too slow and too easy gameplay. Lots of down time where nothing happens. Maybe worth it when it's 50% off.
True, 3 and 6 are not good games. All the others are worth trying, although unless you're really prepared to dig very deeply into the mechanics and put a lot of time into each game, I feel that most people would be much better of buying only one Sam Sho game. Fighting games are an inch wide and a mile deep in terms of content versus gameplay. All you do is fight over and over again. The lack of a training mode makes it difficult to practice special moves.
2, 4 and 5 Special are the best games in the series. The others just aren't as good or have various issues. 3 is by far the worst. While I like SS a lot I won't buy the collection as I think you only need the 3 above. And to be honest they are all very similar on the surface. Or just get the Last Blade 1/2 instead, for my money they are superior to SS.
The forthcoming Sam Show is the one that most people should get as it has better graphics, animations and online play.
Looks like a very minor change - not really an upgrade - to the previous Switch version. I like the first Switch game but it is an extremely slow games that takes many hours to achieve anything. Most definitely an acquired taste.
It has average steam reviews, seems to be a decent but relatively flawed game once you look deeply at its mechanics. On the whole I've heard meh to negative feedback about it.
Cut scenes are slightly improved but I agree they are still not great. I'd like the option to turn off all cut scenes, however, I think that they're using them to mask loading times. The first patch hasn't improved loading time at all.
The game is good fun but loading times are long (about 2 minutes) and the launch version is prone to crashing. Cut scenes are laggy and have a variety of minor graphical issues. The actual batting and bowling works well though. I'd advise waiting on a few patches to iron out the bugs.
I don't personally care for achievements. As long as they can be switched off and game designs aren't affected or changed to incorporate them I don't mind if we start seeing them.
I'm really surprised at the bad reviews HBH has been getting. It's a very solid, enjoyable , albeit tough puzzle game at heart. You really need to spend a few hours getting to grips with the mechanics. There's a lot of sophistication under what appears to be a simple system at first glance.
You need to treat it like a turn based puzzler and work things out as you go. You should be usin the pause button very frequently. If you play it like an action game you will lose very quickly. Once you understand the finer details you can pull of some great combos. You also have to prioritise threats and realise that just because you can kill an enemy doesn't necessarily mean you should.
I'd give it an 8/10. I do think they need to do some minor balancing and other tweaks and improve the very poor tutorial. Fans of thoughtful, challenging puzzlers should definitely consider HBH. I reckon a lot of reviewers struggled with the initial high difficulty and wrote it off before getting to grips with it.
Nice. I've always enjoyed Mario Sports games, although few have really hit the heights of greatness. Mostly they've been pretty good with some flaws. Here's hoping this will be great!
Picked this up on import a few days ago. It's certainly a bit different from regular HM, although the town does feel very small in comparison to some of the other titles. As always the character conversations are fairly uninteresting and take an age to progress. All in all, not a bad HM title but if I had to choose I'd get Sunshine Islands over this.
Been playing this non-stop for the last few days. Possibly a game of the year contender for me. Also really not as hard as you might imagine from looking at screenshots.
Wow, I have been waiting for this release for months. September 2009 has been and gone and there's still no firm release date. Wonder if we'll ever get this one!
I know it's for a different platform altogether but I would strongly recommend that people check out 4 Winds Mahjong, possibly the best pc mahjong game ever made. It has a ton of different rules sets for different version of mahjong (Japanese, Taiwanese, Hong Kong, European etc)
Picked this up a few months ago when it was first released. Also got the pc version as well which was super cheap. I prefer the retro style game to the levels with the trains etc. It is not as difficult as I remember it on the C64 (or was it the Amiga?)
Picked this one up a few days ago and have been enjoying it so far. It really is more of the same, albeit with much more structure and objectives than before. There's around 350 species to collect and, as far as I can remember, about 500 objects to be collected and salvaged. Graphics look a bit aliased over component but it's certainly one of the better looking Wii games.
Downloaded this yesterday and it's great fun, especially if you remember the channel 4 sumo programme from the early 90s. So far I've fought 165 bouts - 99 wins and 65 losses. My best performance was in Mongolia - 10 wins and 5 losses. I'm loving the game so far. At first it seems to be a real button masher and you don't really know what you're doing, but after a while a surprising amount of depth is revealed. It's difficult to consistently produce the same finishing moves (of which there seems to be loads, as a certain amount of waggle is involved and the precise controls for different moves are not explained) but apart from that things are well done. Oh, and tournaments are fought over 15 bouts, not 10 as it says in the review. I can see that the game may become repetitive after a while as all you do is fight and then train, over and over. Still, there's a long list of achievements to be attained, which should give the game some longevity.
I think that, while the quality of C64 games may vary enormously, it's important that we rediscover classics such as Paradroid. These games are part of our gaming heritage - for me, it's nostalgia. I remember playing this game when I was 13 or 14 years old, and have always hoped over the years that the game would come back in some format or other. It's a good game and well worth playing.
I think for younger gamers, checking out old games is very worthwhile. Sure, you may have a different perspective on things, are much harder to please where graphics and sound are concerned, but by playing these game you'll understand much more about gaming's evolution and how games have come to be what they are now. If you want to be knowledgeable, a game buff rather than just a player, make sure you take the time to check out these titles from the past. I really hope Morpheus will show up on VC some day. That was a great game.

Re: Talking Point: Has Animal Crossing Finally Made The Nintendo Switch Online App Worthwhile?
Nope, it's still absolutely useless.
Re: Review: Lonely Mountains: Downhill - A Freewheeling Downhill Delight
Reads more like a 7 than a 9 given that any lag or stutter in a time attack game should be considered to be a serious issue.
Re: Expect Delays If The Effects Of Coronavirus Worsen, Says Nintendo
To be expected given the global scale of current problems.
Re: Shmup Collection Brings Three Old-School Style Shooters To Switch Next Week

Re: Review: Gunbrick: Reloaded - A Painfully Tedious Puzzler Which Isn't Worth The Effort
Other sites have given the game good to excellent review scores so NL is definitely an outlier in their opinion.

Awesome news! A perfect fit for the Switch.

Re: Assault Android Cactus+ Physical Pre-Orders For Switch Open On 12th March
I found it very difficult / uncomfortable to play undocked for some reason. It's a decent game but not worth £30.
Re: Poll: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?
I'll look at it when it's at least 50% off. It's far too expensive for what it offers.
Re: Review: Metro 2033 Redux - A Truly Astonishing Switch Port Of A Genre Classic
Good job but 30fps is a disappointment for this type of game.
Re: Review: Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha - Great Games Shamed By Horrendous Input Lag

Re: Power Rangers: Battle For The Grid Receives Huge Version 2.0 Update
@GameOtaku
Probably because it's a niche fighting game with a limited audience, developed to a tight budget. Extra content requires game sales to fund the work.
