Re: Nintendo of America Issues Refunds After Warner Bros. Cancels Batman: Arkham Origins Wii U DLC

billychaos

I hated this game. I immediately sold it to GameStop. Arkham City was one of my favorite Wii U games. It was so amazing how they use the gamepad features (map, voice over from the pad, touch interface for weapon switch, bat computer on the pad exclusively, motion control batterang, etc). I was so excited to play Arkham Origins expecting all this and got NOTHING! All they did with the pad is smack a laggy map on it. I was offended and sold it immediately. How do you go from one of the best uses of the Wii U game pad to not using it at all???

I wish I never bought the game in the first place. The sales should be even lower than they were in my opinion. You do half-donkey work, you get half-donkey sales.

Re: Feature: 10 Nintendo DS Games We Want To See On The Wii U Virtual Console

billychaos

Phantasy Star 0
Any of the Advance Wars games

Not games but I would hope the emulation will support download play just like a physical DS would. Additionally, any game that supported online play (mario kart, metroid, phantasy star..), should utilize the Nintendo Network and allow you to play with those on your friend list. This could mean adding a Miiverse feature that would allow you to associate game specific friend codes with your Nintendo Network ID.

Re: Iwata And Miyamoto Both Take Pay Cuts In Response To Nintendo's Poor Financial Results

billychaos

I know a lot of people don't like Nintendo, but what an honorable company. There just aren't too many employees that have this kind of devotion much anymore (at least in America, where it's the opposite... lay off everyone else while the big wigs sit in luxury). During America's recent recession the company I worked for, absolutely refused to let anyone go during hard times. Instead they did not give anyone raises for a year (including Big wigs and the President). After they recovered, just about everyone got nice raises. A lot of people just don't understand how great it is to work for a company that are not in it for themselves. I'm glad to see this devotion Iwata and his team has.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Major Reductions In Sales and Financial Projections

billychaos

Personally, I think the entire Industry is really naive right now. The game home console interest could be taking a hit. You can pick on wii u all you want, but 3.5 million (xbox one) and 4.5 million (ps4) is nothing to celebrate right now. Unless they too can pick up sales by the end of the year, it may be proven that home console demand just isn't high anymore. Perhaps it IS mobile gaming. When I say 'mobile' I am including the 3DS which has sold roughly 42 million units to date. I feel like even Nintendo recognizes this and may switch their business focus to the 3DS (but who knows). We'll have a better idea at the end of this year.

Re: Video: Here's Another Chance to Check Out Nintendo's VGX Appearance

billychaos

I was shocked how rude the hosts where to Reggie. Seriously, I dont know where everyone else works, but when was the last time you had a meeting or facetime with the President of your company? They basically invited the President of a top global companies who gave them the time of day. Reggie agreed and even brought along a developer (who they didn't even introduce, basically ignored him) to talk about an upcoming game, just as planned...and the host in other words said, that's all you have to say? I don't care about that....wow. I'm sure Reggie's salary is multiple times mine and those hosts combined. Those guys probably have never had one on one time with the President of their own company (spike) let alone Nintendo. I have to call them morons because they don't even understand the level of their audacity. That's horrible PR for Spike as well. I know Reggie won't do this, but If I were him, i'd make a formal complaint to the President of Spike. His time is worth way to much to meet with someone like that. Donkey Kong may not be for them, but Nintendo offers those games for people who like to play them. I still can't believe the attitudes they gave him. Reggie sure has patients. I'm not even a high level Exec at my company but if an Intern or new hire gave me that kind of attitude, they'd get such an earful, they'd probably quit the next day.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime: Petitions Don't Affect Nintendo's Decisions

billychaos

people are over reacting. His words are taken way out of context. His words are not in anyway saying "we don't listen to fans". Yet that's how people are reacting. He is talking like a businessman. A better way put would have been to say " We can't use fan feedback for our final business decisions". No company should. The only thing a petition says is that fans want it. The final decision is made based on; can we do it? How much does it cost; how long will it take? Etc. Reggie (and everyone in the gaming industry) should just stop talking to gaming sites if people don't know how to remain professional.

Re: Talking Point: Moving To Smartphones Is Not The Answer For Nintendo

billychaos

The dumbest thing any company could do, is attempt to compete by giving the competitor all their assets. The only reason Sega did what they did was because they made the decision to no longer compete. Those people need to wake up, Nintendo is the number one selling game hardware company. Don't mistake the Wii U's current situation for the Nintendo company as a whole.

Re: Review: Wii Fit U (Wii U)

billychaos

I find it so absurd when people say wii fit you is not the same as exercise. Perhaps those people need to revisit a local dictionary for what exercise is. Or perhaps, they never spent more than 10 minutes playing wii fit. Lets take Jack knife lessons on the wii fit, are you seriously saying Jack knifes on wii fit are not the same as doing Jack knifes's? Or push ups, your saying just because you are accompanied by a wii fit board somehow pushups don't count? You must be doing something terrible wrong if you believe this. Those are obvious but even doing wii fit games you are doing exercise. No you are not body-building or weight training, but the exercise in wii fit will qualify as the same strenuous exercise a doctor will recommend if you are actually doing strenuous exercise. Just like any equipment, it's only as good as how you use it. I've heard people saying *a bench press machine is not the same a doing free weight bench press. So what, your still doing bench presses and working out your chest muscles...get real people.

Re: Performance of Batman: Arkham Origins Wii U Version Compares Unfavourably to 360 and PS3

billychaos

@AdanVC
I absolutely agree. I bought this game day one. I was not bothered by the lagging framerate, however I ended up trading the game in after roughly 25 minutes of gameplay. I was so disappointed that the developers did nothing with the Wii U gamepad. They just slapped the map on it and called it a day. Batman Arkham City took advantage of the gamepad features more than most Wii u games out there (it served as the bat computer entirely). It shows that the developers made this game for one console, then just quickly copy-and-paste the code over to another with very few modifications. This was a major disappointment from the special features Arkham City showed us. I read through the manual and posted all over the miiverse hoping I was mistaken. Such a shame...sold it for Deus Ex Wii U (it actually uses the gamepad well).

Re: EA's Financial Figures Reveal Dismal Wii U Software Sales

billychaos

The minute EA announced that the Wii U was inferior and they were not planning to support the system, I intentionally avoided any of their games Wii U and will continue to do so. Statements like that show that they were not willing to put any effort into development for the system to make a quality game. Many companies have created games on the Wii U with 60 FPS and very rich textures. EA pointed the finger at the system instead of doing any work to make the game good. That's not a company I'm willing to invest any money into.... And the SimCity fiasco did NOT help my opinions of EA on the PC either.

Re: Nintendo Wants To Close Down This Open-Source Web Version Of Super Mario Bros.

billychaos

I don't understand why so many people do NOT understand copyright and trademark laws. They are actually really simple. I blame the Record industry for distorting them so much. I can only speak for US copyrights/trademarks, but I personally hold multiple copyrights and a trademark. Any time you take someone else work (that is copywritten) without their permission, you infringe on their IP. You are basically taking their creation, doing what you want with it even though they have all the legal paperwork stating that they are the rightful owner of their creation. It's not rocket science. You can't copy peoples stuff when they have the legal rights (you shouldn't be copying peoples stuff anyways, what happened to originality?). For the record, if you own a Trademark, you are 'forced' to protect that mark. It means that even if some Bozo (yes this happened to me) decides that they are going to use your trademark on their website without your permission, you MUST pursue the matter or else risk losing the trademark altogether.. no matter how harmless you may think it is. This is why companies go after even small businesses and readers think they are just being bullies.... they are not bullies, it's the law.

Re: Assassin's Creed IV DLC Looks Set to Sail Past Wii U

billychaos

I'd like to get an objective reason for why Ubisoft is doing this. As many have pointed out an obvious reaction, some people may not buy this game on the Wii U for this reason. It's clear that Ubisoft shoots themselves in the foot then cry that 'Our games aren't selling on the Wii U'.

Again, I'd like to know an objective reason why you put the game there but leave out the DLC? Are they implying that Nintendo gamers will buy the game but they don't like DLC? If that's the case whey don't they ping Nintendo to get and idea on how many people are buying Fire Emblem 'DLC', or Super Luigi U, Pikman III DLC. Clearly Nintendo is putting DLC out there themselves. So what would prompt a developer to withhold DLC? Do they have data suggesting that DLC doesn't sell? If so what extra costs are incurred that would make this non profitable to be available on the eShop as opposed to PC, Xbox, PS3/4? The eshop can't be that expensive to host DLC on.

Re: New Wii U System Update Goes Live Across Europe, North America and Japan

billychaos

People complaining should know better by now. Have they been paying attention to Nintendo at all? Yes we have the gamepad play for wii games and you still have to use the wii remote. If you know Nintendo, you should expect in a future update the ability to play wii games using the gamepad (at least on games that support the classic controller). They are just pushing this out now just so we can at least play something. If you would have rather they waited, we probably wouldn't have seen it till early next year.

Re: Poll: Would You Buy Grand Theft Auto V On Wii U?

billychaos

Nope, not interested. Frankly, i'm a little confused why so many people want GTA on a Nintendo console. It will do way more damage than help it. Xbox live and PS has had a strong online presence over the years and no one cared. As soon as Nintendo even put pictochat on the DS...OMG just about every News station and newspaper had articles and spots about 'How predators will use the DS to find your children' (at least in America). I don't even want to go into the articles about how 'Pokémon promotes devil worship'. Such a backlash could happen if GTA were on Nintendo. Again, this perspective is from America though, things may be different in the UK, not sure.

Re: Video: Planet PNF-404 with Rory Cocker

billychaos

I mean no offense to anyone, but this video is by far better than any game review I have ever read. I know it was meant as satire but it was entertaining, yet very informative of the game. I'll even go as far as saying it presents the game much better than even Nintendo has. Great job guys!

Re: Thriving 3DS Remains the Best Selling Video Game Platform for July in the US

billychaos

A little more than a year ago, any article with the 3ds in it was accompanied by quotes such as 'Nintendo is going the way of Sega' or 'Nintendo is doomed!'. Many people don't know that the original 8bit nes flopped at launch. Nintendo reworked their brand then the nes hit us like a storm. We shouldn't underestimate a company that is capable of consistent bounce-backs.

Re: IGN Editor: If Wii U Doesn't Pick Up, Nintendo Should Look To New Hardware

billychaos

I often wonder how writers of IGN continue to keep their jobs. Their options are so hyperbolical me and most of my friends write them off immediately. Lets say Wii u hardware failed to pick up after 2 years.

A smarter choice may be to break the hardware up (not throw it away). In other words, Rebrand the Wii U as the Wii HD (which does not include the gamepad) and sell the gamepad separately. They could continue sell the Wii U as long as Nintendo makes it clear that both systems are the same except one does not include the gamepad. The reality is the Wii was an amazing success. Nintendo could lay low on the gamepad for a while if it didn't pick up and continue to produce games that made the Wii a success (but in HD this time). Similar, to how Nintendo layed low on 3D marketing for the 3DS (it's still there just not the focus).

This is just conceptual and I'm not suggesting that Nintendo should do this. I'm just pointing out there are "1001 things" Nintendo can do before simply giving up.

Re: Looks Like Batman: Arkham Origins Isn't Getting Online Play On Wii U

billychaos

Game developer company logic:
Batman III game:
"Let's not put multi-player in the game for the Wii U"
Batman IV game:
"We will not be releasing the next Batman game for the Wii U because of low sales of Batman III."

This seems to be the same pattern for all the developers. Release a half baked game for the Wii U, then when it doesn't sale (because it's half baked), call it quits on the Wii U because of low sales.

Re: Nintendo's First Quarter Financial Results Boosted By 3DS Performance

billychaos

Nintendo is doomed!... there does that make you all feel better? Nintendo should do quite fine by the end of the year. Even if the Wii U feel flat on it's face worse than the virtual boy, Nintendo is not going anywhere. They will just try harder next time. I think once games come out for the system many people will be surprised by the sales boosts but most people will have expected it.

Re: Nintendo Download: 11th July (North America)

billychaos

I hate to say this but it's crazy how Nintendo makes you buy the games twice (on each system.). Hate to compare but if you buy a game on the Sony Playstation store, you can play it on whatever system it supports (psp, vita, or ps3/4). You only buy the game once. I no longer want to buy games on the wii U virtual console when it comes out, because I want to wait to see if it will be available on the 3ds first. We should not have to be so unsure about purchases.

Re: Batman: Arkham Origins Has Specific Functionality For Wii U

billychaos

I have an Alienware PC that runs Batman at more than 60 frames per second (all graphic settings put at highest) using an xbox 360 controller. I much preferred playing the Wii U version specifically for the gamepad. I love my PC a lot, but I plan on getting the Wii U version of the next Batman game. In my opinion, Batman Arkham City took advantage of the gamepad better than any other Wii U game. I tried playing batman without it afterwards and did NOT like the experience as much. I love how the gamepad is basically the computer on his arm. It adds such a nice rpg-ish element.

Re: Nintendo Announces 890,000 Wii U Sales in U.S. Launch

billychaos

So are people on this site actually Nintendo fans or just people who despise them? It really appears like the latter. For what it's worth, the Nintendo Wii U is doing quite well. I'm not sure why people are in denial of that, let alone anyone on a Nintendo dedicated site. Here is an article from Bloomberg, if you dont know they are a very renowned financial investment information site, not fanboy banter or praise. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-01-11/nintendo-gains-as-new-wii-u-sales-beat-predecessor.html

Re: GameStop Sales of Wii U Are Reportedly "Slightly Disappointing"

billychaos

Regardless of what Gamestop says. There are other vendors that have sold the Wii U. Their statement should be read "Gamestop sales a disappointing amount of Wii U consoles". According to Motley Fool, a Financial service company, here is how the Wii has sold up till Dec 22 and compared to other consoles in the same amount of time:

  • Wii U: 1,817,166
  • Wii: 2,071,242
  • PS3: 524,687
  • X360: 948,162
    That's 88% Wii, 346% PS3, 192% X360. Pretty decent.
People seem to have created an idea that the Wii U is not selling, when in fact it is. It's hard to see because the Wii skewed all game launch data. If I had money to invest in NTDOY, I would now, since people think it's not doing well. By the time they realize they were wrong the stock could be worth more than four times what you paid for.

Re: Miyamoto: Pikmin 3 To Be More Like Series Original

billychaos

I hated the time limit. But I do think they should give you both options. Perhaps have multiple endings or secret unlockables if you beat it on time. I hate having to start completely over in games. It makes it to repetitive. Even Zombie U doesn't make you start completely over.

Re: Nintendo Is Sorry For Wii U Load Times, Is Working On A Fix

billychaos

Re: Freezing. Not sure if this helps, but My console froze a lot when I plugged in an external drive (that was not supported). It would freeze a lot! I started troubleshooting and found that it froze when it tried to write or access the hard drive. I disconnected it and installed DLC and saves to system memory. I don't think it's crashed in about 3 weeks since.
