so now that we know what the proper word is, does it change the over all sentiment that the developers are annoyed they have to jump through hoops to have their games published in the west?
this isn't an adaptation. the first season was a new story, Richter wasn't even the main character. it was Annette's story. if they are planning on making season 2 about someone else, thats fine, just be upfront about it, don't play bait and switch again, and definitely don't crap on the the series favorites in favor of the new characters.
@Tourtus yeah, thats the thing. with all the recent hemming and hawing about exploitation, this was a purposeful removal. don't believe for a second this was "accidental".
Kitase reportedly stated that a modern remake of Final Fantasy VI could take around 20 years to make. if this statement isn't a glaring example of Square-Enix pissing into the wind with its business practices and development cycles then they truly are not long for this world.
I grew up playing Square games, they where always top notch, so living in a world where they aren't present, or a subsidiary of another conglomerate leaves me with a nasty taste in my mouth.
I think as gamers we are going to need to rethink our expectations of what a "Triple A" title is. realistically, why is Final Fantasy VII remake taking so long? are they rebuilding the engine from from scratch with each release and port? The original only took about a year to make and had what was considered one of the largest dev teams at the time (around 100-120).
@Wexter I never said anything about him being toxic. I scoff at the article saying he DIDN'T need to be made happy. he could be the most gracious benevolent boss, it doesn't change the fact that he needs to be happy with whats being done. Koizumi had an interview with Wired in it he mentioned that Miyamoto vetoed additional story. he wasn't happy with it, and so it was cut. I loved both games, but there is your receipt, I don't imagine this is the ONLY ever instance of this kind of behavior. but again, I didn't mention anything about him being toxic or anything. projection sir, you're showing it.
@Vexx234 don't take my bias away from me...... I don't have anything left!
@RobynAlecksys chill. if you want to complain about any of those people you mentioned, feel free to do so, no one is stopping you. my comment is that Mr. Miyamoto needs to be happy with whatever project is being worked on. stories of this dev saying otherwise I believe are silly.
yeah right. look, I respect and admire Mr. Miyamoto , he's responsible for many games and franchises I love. but to say that the in house dev's don't need to make him happy is nonsense. its pretty obvious by how he manages that he's gotta be happy with how things are going, or the project doesn't happen.
oh lord. the only reason people are upset about Mario's voice is because they don't like Chris Pratt. anyone who says Charles Martinet should have done the voice is being dishonest.
the voice is fine, and I'm sure the movie is going to kick ass, and not in spite of Chris Pratt.
sweet! I don't know what it is about the current janky frame rate, as soon as I fire it up and the frame rate starts dipping, I immediately start falling asleep. I haven't been able to play this game longer than a half hour without dozing off, which is crazy because I played the heck out of the original release without issue.
I had bro-Robin marry Tharja. she seemed like his canonical match. so many of her conversations revolved around Robin, and the fact that I myself married the hot goth chick in school that would stalk me. it was a no brainer.
it would be really cool to see Crystal Chronicles Crystal bearers a second shot. or another game to that line of games. I really like how much of a mammoth dill hole Layle was. the game play and the fighting mechanic was fun too, it was unfortunate it was optional save for a few spots of mandatory scripted fights.
I'd take a Tactics release too. Ogre Tactics has been great, but FFT is still my favorite.
@AlienX peaked? no... SS was only half baked. they didn't even bother finishing the character art. I suspect the game was going to be more, but rushed to market.
shadow dragon on the DS was "okay". I was really disappointed with the graphical direction it took. the art by Shirow Masamune was fantastic (still have the lithograph from my pre-order pinned on my wall). but the in game sprites where just SO bland. Marth in particular was really bad. by comparison, the FAMICOM graphics are WAY more primitive, but more appealing to look ay.
"Playing as an overseeing guardian, the player interacts directly with the characters rather that ‘controlling’ them". I take it you never actually played either of the baten kaitos games. while yes, you do play as a "spirit" that the main character interacts with (many of the characters in fact stop and address the player at times) you do control the main character in the traditional sense where you drive them about and tell them what to do in battle.
@gcunit Xenoblade Chronicles X is REALLY awful. don't waste you time. this is coming from someone that LOVED the original. it was so bland. the funny part about X was the protagonist is silent, but when you get into a fight,he will not shut the hell up. the premise is an interesting one, but story fell flat. I guess look at it this way, did you like all the mundane aspects of Xenoblade chronicles but feel that the story got in the way of killing everything in sight, and helping the random NPC find something? then Chronicles X is for you!
so I am curious, does this game have a main overarching story like the original Xenoblade or is this just Elder Scrolls in space? not that the elder scrolls games aren't good, but they generally boil down to a series of unconnected missions that serve to extend game time? I really liked the story of the original and all I have seen and heard of this one is just game play and the different factions missions. is there a main story other than humanity is running from some baddie?
do some folks really get their hackles up when people bring up the fact that Nintendo IS a toy company? why would it be a bad thing to admit? I mean it is a great video game company too! to me, one follows excellently with the other.
with news that nintendo is looking at the mobile market and the announcement of the NX. I'm thinking nintendo may be hammering the nails into the WiiU. bummer, I liked the WiiU.
I actually think it's an interesting idea. but why not put zelda in the protagonist role and have her kick some Gluteus maximus? I mean Tetra was already a pirate queen! why not do something in that context?

@mlt a sequel to Last Story? but its called last story, that would be like making sequels to a game called final fantasy.......
oh wait.....
a sequel would be freaking AWESOME! shoot, I'd be cool with a remaster.

@SlasherZ, maybe it's somewhere in the middle? there have been rumors and stories abound about his meddling for years now.
Re: Random: Making "Miyamoto Happy" Isn't The Goal Of Development, According To Pikmin 4's Creators
@SlasherZ yeah, if they are trying to dispell the notion that he is uncontrollable tyrant running around calling the shots.
he's listed as a "Creative Fellow", whatever the blazes that means.
for the record I don't think he is a Tyrant, but he does clearly hold a LOT of sway. (again, I do believe he has earned it)

@Avol has that been confirmed? I'm still getting it either way, but the english dub of Baten Kaitos II was quite impressive.
