Honestly a bit surprised so many people like the 3D. In the hundreds of hours I've spent with my 3DS, I doubt I've had the slider set to 3D for more than one hour total. It was an interesting and perhaps largely successful experiment on Nintendo's part, but I will not miss it one bit.
If I upgrade my 3DS XL, it'll probably be to a New 2DS XL instead. Been checking to see how much I could sell my 3DS for--it's the blue Pokemon X/Y Limited Edition, so probably has a bit of resale value--to offset some of the cost.
But it really doesn't feel like much of a priority. The SNES VC is the main draw, along with having a system that can properly run Hyrule Warriors.
Hopefully the three DLC packs won't be entirely focused on Fates, Shadow Dragon, and Awakening, despite being named after them. 9 new characters is great, but it would be good if some of those character slots were given over to digging a little deeper into the FE roster. Hoping at least one character per pack is from a different game. Also a bit odd to start with Fates, given how well represented that cast is already, given they decided to include all the siblings.
The (self-imposed) lull before Odyssey has thankfully given me some time to work on some of my backlog. I finally beat Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright last night, and just started Conquest. I also sold a few books to Amazon and used the gift card balance to finally pick up Mario+Rabbids, though I don't know if it'll arrive in time for me to give it much attention before Odyssey takes over.
My two experiences with the franchise (Hyrule Warriors Legends, but running on an older 3DS XL, and the demo of Dragon Quest Heroes for the Switch) haven't won me over, but I also know that both of those games are said to not run well on the hardware. I'm considering giving FEW a shot, though I still don't know if it'll finally click for me.
Anecdotal evidence, obviously, but I would say personally, the fact that I never got a Wii U, and never saw an especially pressing need to get one (though there are certainly games I feel like I missed out on), and that I bought a Switch within a few months of launch says a lot. Maybe it mainly show how important Zelda is as a killer app to get me to buy a system, but still.
Meh. I know fighting games are the Neo Geo's greatest strengths, but it feels like a bit of a waste, at least for me. I can't wait for more shmups (Pulstar or Prehistoric Isle 2) or more beat 'em ups (Sengoku 3 or Mutation Nation).
The older Wii U controllers work for the Switch as well. I picked up the yellow Pikachu version of the controller last week, and it's been working great--it's what I've played most of Steamworld Dig 2 with. An excellent, comfortable D-pad, which the Switch really needed.
I played the hell out of the Gen 1 games, but I unfortunately passed on Gen 2 at the time. I've played HeartGold, but I'm excited to give the originals a try.
I picked up Silver, and my aim is to only use Gen 2 Pokemon--my current party is Bayleef, Flaafy, Hoothoot, and Wooper, and I'll be adding and replacing them as I find more. I think the party I'm aiming for is Meganium, Houndoom, Heracross, Lanturn, Skarmory, and Donphan. I'd probably try to use Tyranitar, but it seems like Larvitar is only available in the endgame.
So exciting, Zero Gunner 2 is one of my favorite Dreamcast shmups. Either Gunbird is appreciating, they're both great. Really hoping that the Sengoku game will be Sengoku Blade, as that's probably my favorite Psikyo shmup.
Really, I'll buy the entire Psikyo catalogue if Zerodiv releases it.
I only beat Dig 1 earlier this year, but I enjoyed the hell out of it. "Metroidvania meets Mr. Driller? Why did it take me so long to play this?"
My main complaint was that it was so short. I was hoping Dig 2 would be longer, and it sounds like it is, but probably not by much. I'm still absolutely buying it, but a bit disappointing, wanted a longer game.
It seems strange to me that people want more Sonic Adventure games, as those were, from my perspective at the time, the crappy Sonic games Sega was making instead of doing Sonic properly. I assume it's a bit of a generational thing, younger gamers that grew up with the Adventure games. Sonic Mania is what I have wanted for decades.
My number one request from Sega will always be more Skies of Arcadia. It is, without question, my favorite game of all time. The most likely possibility there would be, if the Switch ever does get VC games that include the GC, Sega should absolutely release Legends. I would also love to see an HD remake, but that seems like a longshot. Even more of a longshot: a sequel.
Other franchises Sega needs to bring back: Jet Set Radio, Panzer Dragoon, and Dynamite Cop.
I was also very excited by all the Odyssey news, but I felt like enough votes would be going there to hit some other items. My votes were for Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Octopath, and Dragon Quest Builder--though I would definitely have preferred some news on Dragon Quest XI, either some stuff on if the 3DS version is coming stateside, or anything on the Switch version.
Even as someone very excited for Xenoblade Chronicles 2, that segment of the Direct seemed rather interminable. The presentation with "Gramps" narrating was cheesy, and the extended explanation of the battle system wasn't likely to sell many people on the game. If I had been organizing that, I would've put together a shorter sizzle reel, highlighting the lush world of the game, some of the exploration and the flashier moments of combat, and a bit of the story, and then had an announcement like "For those looking for more information on Xenoblade Chronicles 2, videos on the game world and the combat mechanics will be posted to this channel after the Direct."

Re: Vulpix Joins The Ever-Growing Pokémon Build-A-Bear Range
Vulpix has always been one of my favorite first gen Pokemon, this is so tempting.
