Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Games Of 2018

aVagabond

@gamefreak77
I bought a switch lite. The yellow one.
But after a week of playing it, I returned it. It feels good in hands, but that's it. Nothing more.
I just felt that it is a half baked product. Barebone. It doesn't deserve the name "switch". I really tried to give it a chance. But, like I said, apart from the feeling when having it in hands... nope
The d-pad... I don't know if it was the unit I picked, but it felt so... low quality. It felt like a new 2ds xl d-pad. I played street fighter on it and out of 15 tries to pull off a dragon punch I succeeded 2 times. Many times I couldn't jump diagonally. As if it didn't register the input.
I liked the feel of buttons and joysticks, but that feeling of a potential drift occuring hovering over my head... nope
On the other hand, playing my other switch(v2) felt much better. It is a switch. Plus, it has a better battery, even though it is not a dedicated handheld. Ridiculous.

I would absolutely not recommend the switch lite. Maybe after the revision, after the potential joycon drift is dealt with. After better quality d-pad is added. And after it gets a new name, because the "switch" doesn't suit it well.

As long as we support these half finished products with our money, Nintendo will get away with it. Look at Microsoft and Sony. They don't degrade their products.

Use your common sense people, not feelings induced through hype.

Anyway, yes, like you, I'm waiting for a true portable Nintendo device.

@Woosh193
Even though the game is great and I am enjoying it a lot, I would still recommend Jedi Academy more, because it allows you to use a lightsaber right away, plus it will have a multiplayer, which, even though I never played before(bad connection back in the day in my part of the world), will probably be amazing once everybody whips their lightsabers out.

@Woosh193
It's an amazing game! Love it!
Controls never bothered me though, although I played on the pc back in the day.
But, playing with joycons in handheld is hell for me. So, I went and bought daemon x machina ones today. And it's awesome! They really nailed it with these split pad pro things! Highly recommended. Crouching in this game is bad, because it uses your left joycon press. But, after assigning it to the back button of the daemon x machins ones, it just plays so much better.

Re: Mario Kart Tour Races Ahead With 90 Million Downloads In Its First Week

On this site, gamers complain about this game. But the world doesn't. The world will simply play it and buy/unlock items via microtransactions. The percentage of gamers is hugely smaller to percentage of general populus.
This is the future of gaming. Mobile phones. A device which is an "all arounder". And I like it. Dedicated consoles/devices are just clutter. One device, capable of gaming, music, movies, sandwich making is what the general populus wants.

Hail Stadia! ☺

I think the game is great. Playability, replayability, charm, graphics. Love it. And honestly, I really don't notice the effect of microtransactions. I just play the game, and the unlocks happen by themselves.
I also love Mario Kart, but luck plays a much greater role there, regarding items during races. In CTR skill is mostly what matters(and shortcuts). The only thing I have a problem with are loading times. Other than that, love this game! Highly recommendable.

Re: Switch Lite Added To Joy-Con Drift Class Action Lawsuit

So, I bought the yelow switch lite today, despite being generally against it, because I think it is a downgraded product and doesn't deserve to be called a "Switch". But I decided to give it a chance and use it as a kind of "test" during warranty time, to see if the joycon (is it a joycon?) drift will happen. First thing after opening the box is noticing how small it is. Hmmm, it may be problematic to read text in games. Will see how that goes. Second thing... the d-pad. It feels kind of... cheap. Similar to new 2ds xl d-pad. Compared to original game boy d-pad for example, this feels... I don't know... cheap. But ok, like I said, I'll give it a chance. The most signifficant feeling I felt was that of not having a "complete" product, due to the lack of docking ability. Even now, as I am typing, the feeling is weird, like I've been cheated somehow, robbed of something, like something valuable was lost. I'm looking at it(the switch lite) and it's looking back at me. And thoughts come to my mind: do I really need this half-baked product with potential hardware fault? Especially now that I have the "revised" switch with even longer battery life? Hmmm, I don't know. Will give it some time and then decide.

Started Ni no Kuni yesterday. Amazing game! I was really blown away. Maybe one of my favourites ever.
Jedi Outcast. Love it. Just the way it was back then, only without keyboard and mouse.
I am already in the future though, waiting for xenoblade chronicles remake. Played it on the 3ds and loved it. Didn't finish it. Will do that on the switch.
Thinking of buying Link's Awakening but on the fence still. How long is the game anyway?
After Ni no Kuni comes Dragon Quest XI, then xenoblade chronicles 2. I believe with these three games I could easily be busy till early to mid next year, just in time for jedi academy, xenoblade chronicles and animal crossing. Will keep an eye on other games too, but my general criterium is that the game is longer than 15 hours.

aVagabond

So. Played a bit. Ah nostalgia. Loved it. Just the way I temember. Of course, mouse and keyboard are better but I'll do fine with switch controls. Haven't died to stormtroopers yet, even though there was a lot of them.
I actually think this is currently one of the best, if not the best old school first person shooter on the switch, for me at least.
Looking forward to academy and multiplayer.
I highly recommend this game. If we show our support, hoprfully more good star wars games on switch will follow.

Re: Poll: Is Your Switch Lite Suffering From Joy-Con Drift?

aVagabond

@Razer
I never used xbox. Only playstation. And I can remember that I did experience drift, on the ps2, but around year 5 after the purchase. Plus the controler was used extensively. But on the ps3 and 4 no drifts.

On Switch, 6 months after the purchase - drift. Awesome

Re: Poll: Is Your Switch Lite Suffering From Joy-Con Drift?

aVagabond

@Username77
I am an OG Switch user who dislikes strongly this "switch" lite and haven't participated in the poll.

I just simply won't buy the thing. In this case money has more power.

But to all those people who buy it, of course I wish they get the most out of their console and money. To each their own.

I think streaming is the future. And I believe Stadia concept is the future. There will inevitably come a time where we will need consoles no more. I like that future. Limitless potential. Look at mobile phones. Before, they were dedicated devices for communication only. Now you can stream on it, listen to music on it, hell, they basically almost make sandwiches for you too ☺
Away with consoles, limitations and exclusivity of titles for specific consoles!

Re: Uh-Oh, We've Got Our First Reported Case Of Drift On The Switch Lite

aVagabond

@ctrain
In a way, I'd also like for switch lite to flop.
It is not a "switch". It doesn't dock. They should've called it differently.
It seems I may have been spoiled by the original switch(due to its abilities), so I see this product as not worthy of the name "switch".
The general public is probably less informed about what switch lite can(cough) and can't do. But they may have seen more commercials about switch "switching" between playing docked and handheld, or people playing multiplayer with detached joycons. Or they have friends with original switch who told them how amazing switch is. And then they go and buy it, because in the store they saw this beautiful little device with the name "switch" on it... only to be disappointed because they can't dock it and because they can't share a joycon with the kids/spouses/partners to play mario party(or whatever).
Due to my OCD(noticed it in me with the switch and damn korok seeds in BOTW LOL) the name of this device is killing me. Although it is a beautiful little piece of hardware.
Recently I bought a new 2ds. But I was so freaking(would've used another word but was warned by someone here) confused because I saw these 3ds/2ds/whatever ds bulls...t (I hope I don't get a warning for this word) names that I got confused as frak(another word again) about buying anything at all. But I did buy it. New 2ds xl(wtf's wrong with nintendo and their names), but after using internet heavily to inform myself just what the difference is. It made a purchase more of a chore than enjoyment. Look at Microsoft and Sony for god's sake. Ok, forget Microsoft. Look at sony. Playstation, ps2, 3, 4, 4pro and now potential 5. Much less confusion and no freaking (cough) degradation.
Ok, enough books from me.
Regarding switch, I'll just wait. For a "pro" model, or a dedicated handheld with a "proper" name and fixed issues. So, no launch devices for me.

Re: Review: Castle Crashers Remastered - Addictive Brawling Action That's Best Enjoyed With Friends

aVagabond

Bought it on day one. Performs great.
Tried it by myself. Tried online with a randome guy/gal/it. Had fun for about 20min. My online partner obviously knew what they were doing because he/she/it was collecting everything, hitting hidden items, knew how the enemies move.
I got bored after 20mins, quit and never started it again.
It is a great game, but playing alone or with somebody online was... meh. But I can imagine that having friends over and playing the game is a blast. I guess I'll have to organise a get together at my place soon. With lots of boose.

Re: Wall Street Journal Report Says Nintendo Tried To "Aggressively" Cut Costs Of The Switch Lite

aVagabond

@SpaceboyScreams
I agree with you. It is inferior. But it's only because of the name "Switch" that we think it's inferior.
If they named it, idk, "advanced 3ds" or whatever, then it would be a new product and that's it.
But as "Switch", which doesn't switch, it's inferior.
Mostly what I am bothered with is the battery life. It's ok to have a dedicated handheld, but it should surpass the original "revised" Switch version regarding battery life. But, well, we all know that's not the case.......

You're right. It's inferior in every possible way. Who am I trying to fool. 😃

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch Lite - Half A Switch, But That's More Than Enough For Some

aVagabond

@Mr_Muscle

I hear you. Plus, the complications regarding saves... since I play a lot of dark souls for example, and it doesn't have online backup, it would be very complicated to play the game on both consoles(not simultaneously of course) and keep transferring save file from one console to another. No thanks. I'm a simple guy(regarding end-consumer technology) and prefer to keep my gadgets simple

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch Lite - Half A Switch, But That's More Than Enough For Some

aVagabond

I like the look of the "switch" lite. But that's all I like about it. I enjoy the feeling of having that new shiny thing. But that feeling lasts couple of days/weeks.
This system is simply not a logical evolution of hardware. It can't switch, and battery life is less than a "revised" switch. I don't get it. And I bet many who own a regular switch will buy this and, after a couple of weeks, not use it extensively anymore. And I don't think many people carry their switch everywhere. Yes, playing in bed... but that can be done with a normal switch.

If this "switch" lite had a docking ability and a battery life of revised edition, but with the size of a lite... well, that would be evolution. And I believe many many more people would buy it.

I would recommend people to buy a "new" revised edition instead of this.

But to each their own.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening - A Magical Remastering Of A Series Highlight

aVagabond

The game does look beautiful, but it would be even better with a price adapted to what it is: a remake. Look at Crash Team Racing. It is a remake and costs less than expected(at least for me).
I'll stick to BOTW and potentisl BOTW 2, because I like that I am not able to see what awaits me. What I'm trying to see, here, in Link's awakening, you can see more of the things of what may await you, whereas in BOTW, you run(or ride) and all of a sudden, behind the hill you just climbed/walked/rode there is s guardian or whatever. Looking at this game, sure, it's an eye candy, but didn't evoke that feeling of adventure/wonder as BOTW did. Of course, I haven't played the game, so I may be wrong. But with that price tag, I probably won't.
Anyways, much fun to all of you people who will play it

@ThatNyteDaez
That does sound exciting. Would you say that the latest games would be the best representation of the pokemon franchise for the switch then? Or is "Let's go Pikachu/Eevie" better?
Also, sorry to ask a question which may have been asked already but how many pokemon will there be in the latest game? Not both, but one of them?
What I'm aiming at is longevity and fun factors.
Thanks for your time and effort. 😃
