As for missing Smash features from Brawl, Sakaruai and Nintendo were given massive amounts of negative feedback over the modes the game had.
People widely complained about how awful the new modes were in Brawl, so Sakaruai axed them this time around to make people happy.
Special Smash and Multi-man co-op were both widely criticized in Brawl as well.
Nintendo network is fine (I've used it for numerous games), it's no worse than the horrible thing called PSN (which I have used for numerous games too).
I have had both lag on me.
PSN is always unstable and going down on a near weekly basis.
PSN still lacks most of the features of Xbox Live, especially what Xbox One has for online games.
PSN is constantly being hacked with people constantly getting their personal information and credit card information being stolen.
They also run up huge bills that Sony will not cancel if you've been hacked.
If you haven't been hacked on PSN, consider yourself lucky.
Xbox Live is the best online gaming system currently in existence, but it is extremely expensive for Microsoft to operate. Microsoft makes very little money on Xbox Live, while losing money operating it most years.
PSN is horribly expensive for Sony, yet Sony purposely is refusing to put on par with Xbox Live due to the operation and expansion costs.
The $50 people pay for PSN+, doesn't exist to fund PSN features (it only exists to prevent users from having multiple competing online services).
Valve loses money providing online services to Steam users. Though Steam makes a modest profit.
Most companies don't allow you to use competitor products and force you to use your own product.
Microsoft banned the use of non Windows Phones at their campus, while also banning all other competing products to their offering.
You can get in trouble if you get caught using an Android or Apple product.
You also have huge "incentives" to not use competitor products in your personal life.
It made the news when it hit.
Sony is said to ban competitor hardware at it's buildings.
They also heavily discourage the use of competitors products in their employees private lives.
This is quite common across industries, especially the auto companies.
@rjejr Companies rarely do yearly projections at quarterly events. Yearly projections are revealed at the yearly meetings and when new products are announced/released.

They will also go in depth on earnings and revenue.

Though no matter what Nintendo announces their stock will tank.
So far this month:
Microsoft stock went down after their quarterly report, no video game hardware numbers. They didn't release numbers on most of their products. Investors are unhappy with Microsoft sinking money in fledgling products such as Xbox.
Apple stock still hasn't recovered for their big holiday quarter report last week. Investors are unhappy that Apple isn't selling enough products (they are doing better than their competition).
Sony stock went down as well.
Bank and financial stocks are down for not generating enough profits over the past quarter.
Auto stocks are down for not being profitable enough.
Pretty much stocks as a whole are down, on every quarterly earnings report.
@Sligeach Gamers and the gaming media would be stark raving mad, if Nintendo announced anything NX related at a shareholder event or any other non gaming event.
We'd get headlines even from this site reading as such "Nintendo announced NX at shareholder event. Does Nintendo even care about gamers anymore?" Or "Nintendo backstabs gaming, shows NX news to shareholders!"
@Grumblevolcano Shareholders don't really care about dedicated hardware. Shareholders would by thrilled if Nintendo announced they were going mobile only.
@ProudGrimleal
Microsoft and Sony carried on Sega's legacy as being the "hardcore" systems.
"hardcore"/real gamers have been shown time and again to avoid all other groups in gaming.
The people who group during NES and Genesis became today's developers in the West. They don't want to make E-rated, colorful games.
They wanted to make AAA Blockbuster and M rated games, thus they did.
In every interview with Western developers, they constantly talk down on E-rated games and family friendly games.
They talk about making "hardcore"/real games for the "hardcore"/real gamers.
I guess the only good news is iPhone sales have now hit market saturation in 2015, and should be in decline in 2016 with the mobile competition.
This coming from someone who loves his 6s Plus.
@Ichiban It's not rubbish. It's based on actual sales data and market research. WE literally have NPD, Nielsens, EEDAR and others data going back to SNES. They literally get data from retailers, gamers, consumers, and Western developers. The last NPD survey on what "hardcore"/real gamers play was done at the end of 2014. They literally left Nintendo and handhelds off the list of platforms. It also showed exactly as I posted above.
I've posted the survey in other threads.
NPD also sends out a yearly survey at the end of every year, to determine how gamers break down each year into the 6 categories.
Pew Research just did their survey on gamers and how they view the term gamer. It was released in December.
Neilsens also releases a yearly survey on the different types of gamers and the games they play.
Lastly we do have 3rd parties on record talking about how Nintendo is family, kiddy and "casual" oriented and that is not the type of gamers they make games for.
We also have 20 of 3rd parties claiming that 1st party games destroy their sales.
Lastly we have Michael Pacther reporting all of this as well, as he has his own show and anything he says about Nintendo is posted on this site and others.
Either you missed the all news or are in disbelief.
@ProudGrimleal The lack of E-rated family friendly titles on those systems is due to deliberate efforts made by Microsoft and Sony.
Going after those E-rated family friendly titles, it would ruin their relationship with the "hardcore"/real gamer and destroy their "hardcore" image. It would also damage their relationship with the Western 3rd parties to very big degree.
This is all why Sony and Microsoft don't bother getting them in any real degree on their systems.
Also there is no point on releasing them on those consoles, if you are going to bomb spectacularly. Same goes for AA and under games.
@peeks It's not a true discount. It's a bundle/incentive to make you pay for online gaming, so you aren't hopping mad.
Many sites and gamers are unhappy with how "crappy" the selection of the games are on PSN+ and Xbox One Gold. Gamers have been demanding that new retail releases be put up instead of "indie" and older games.
But it's not better than any Nintendo or Steam sale.
I'd rather outright own my games without the need of subscription.
@peeks You know those free PSN games and Xbox Live Gold games aren't free. They come bundled with your monthly subscription. The minute you cancel your subscription you lose the games for good.
@ProudGrimleal if Nintendo went 3rd party, they'd be reduced to making only the most popular games with everything else being canceled due to a lack of sales.
Also the market for family friendly software and E-rated colorful games is practically non existent on Xbox and Playstation. The users avoid those games with passion.
Also no 1st party has successfully transitioned into a successful 3rd party.
if anything Nintendo keeping their hardware lines and expanding outward is better for the industry in the long term. No body wants consoles and controllers to stagnate at the the current level.
@Danrenfroe2016
PPC is literally dead due to IBM halting development of it.
Nintendo contract with IBM ended with Wii U.
What is required for 3rd party support is the following:
1) Get the "hardcore"/real gamer, the 15-35 males who play exclusively AAA Blockbuster games, M-rated games, realistic sports, and realistic racers.
2) Outbid Sony and Microsoft for 3rd party games, this will cost at least a cold billion U.S. dollars just for EA and Ubisoft together.
3) Keep first party titles to a bare minimum. Sony and Microsoft barely release any 1st party games on their systems to appease major 3rd parties.
4) Make sure your market only features "hardcore"/real gamers as mentioned above. No women, "casuals", kids, families, nerds, bright colors in the ads. This is what Sony and Microsoft do for their systems.
5) launch with just realistic sports titles and multiplatform ports, this worked for PS4, it's flying off the shelves.
6) No colors, no E-rated games, nothing family friendly, kid friendly and female friendly. Releasing these games will drive the Western 3rd parties and "hardcore"/real gamers away.
But obviously there is no market for a 3rd true "hardcore"/real console in the market.
Steam's best selling games of all time, still haven't sold as much as the best selling console games on PS4.
A launch with a heavy first party release, will destroy 3rd party sales and kill 3rd party support early on
3rd parties cannot afford to compete against powerful 1st party.
Realistically and decent launch day should consist of:
Bayonetta 1&2 port (and with 3 if possible)
Smash 4 NX port
Mario Kart 8 NX port
Splatoon 2 or Splatoon NX port.
Hyrule Warriors 2
Zelda U NX
A few exclusive 3rd party games.
Then have 10 1st party and few 3rd party exclusive games spread out over the following for months.
They also need some unique features that cannot be found anywhere else that aren't too expensive.
PS4 has touch pads, share button, streaming to YouTube and Twitch of users gaming (Which is really popular).
Xbox One has the good multimedia player, decent web browser, voice commands, better controller, suspend and resume, better digital downloads and patches, best online mode that blows PSN to pieces.
@sandman89 Resident Evil skipped 3DS and Wii U, when Resident Evil Revelations bombed on consoles (Wii U version was in line with the other versions). The 3DS version was the best selling version of that game.
Capcom claimed that the game bombed on the other consoles because the game released on a Nintendo system first, giving the game a "casual"/kiddy which killed the sales on Xbox and Playstation versions.
Wii U version bombed just as bad and Capcom said it confirmed that there is no market for those types of games on a Nintendo console.
Sadly Resident Evil: Revelations 2 bombed just as bad, which Capcom attributed to the negative stigma of the first game.
@JaxonH You really don't understand the masculine identity, especially the American and British masculine identities.
Both cultures heavily stress that men do men things and if they do non manly things they get punished for violating the social and gender norms, with social and gender specific punishments. There is a whole class of psychology and psychiatry built around it with actual therapies to correct the issue.
Hell boys who go through K-12 education in both countries are given corrective lessons and even therapy to ensure they develop into men properly. Even I had a form of this given to me in elementary school and high school to ensure I developed into socially and gender proper male. One of the things they tried to impart on me, was I should like more gritty, fighting, harsh and violent stuff. I was told I needed to lay off the animation, G/PG movies, and stop playing Nintendo and E rated games because they were too childish for my 10 year old self. I was told it each year in elementary school and It was reapplied to me in High School.
Even my college professors couldn't understand why I was still into animation including PG rated animation, when my fellow 20 something males were off doing proper 20 something male stuff including playing shooters.
I was the odd ball out in college, because I played Nintendo and E rated games.
Even at the age of 30, I still get stopped in public by people (including men and women) asking me why I am playing with stuff intended for children (my 3DS and Nintendo games).
With this all said...
Movie Industry market research has shown that adult and teenage boys almost exclusively watch movies that are action heavy, violent heavy, and sex heavy. They typically shun all other types of movies due them lacking in mature stuff. They also avoid PG and G movies with passion.
Men and teenage boys who go see other types of movies, especially animation, are looked down upon in the West as doing an immature and feminine activity.
The music and TV industries also heavily mirror the movie industries in what men and teenage boys view. It was all confirmed via market research.
They literally sit men and women down and show them movies, TV shows, music and ads to figure out how to appeal properly to both groups.
As for gaming, NPD (they do more than just games), Pachter (his stuff is posted on this site), Nielsens (they do more than U.S. TV ratings), Pew Research (they do more than politics), EEDAR (gaming only) and the ESA have invested billions of U.S. dollars to figure out the different types of gamers and what they play.
The only group they were able to pin down through all this research was the 15-35 Western males who are given the label as "hardcore"/Real gamers exclusively play:
-AAA blockbuster games -M rated games -Realistic sports games
Realistic racers Realistic others
That group literally doesn't play anything else, even if the game is free. The research has shown they avidly avoid E and E10+ rated games. They avoid most T rated games. They refuse to play games that have bright colors or lots of colors They don't enjoy family friendly designs They avoid most games that have local co-op They avoid playing on systems that have large groups of other people They avoid playing with everyone else aka "casuals". They lastly do not want to associate with a brand that advertises to others.
This group is willing to spend more money than everyone else and doesn't complain very often and they don't return games much either.
Playstation and Xbox brands areheavily built on this market research and are laser focused on this group. Nearly all Western developers only cater to this group at the expense of everyone else.
The list of the games that sold at least 1M on Xbox 360 nearly all of them were Sports (E-rated), racers (E-rated), AAA blockbuster and M rated games. If you didn't fit into these groups, you bombed hard with only Minecraft and Kinect Adventures bucking the trend.
PS3 followed suit, with only LBP1 and Minecraft breaking the trend.
Xbox One and PS4 are almost identical to their predecessors as to what the user base is buying in droves.
If you're not Sports (E-rated), racers (E-rated), AAA blockbuster and M rated games, you aren't doing well on Xbox One and PS4.
Sports (E-rated), racers (E-rated), AAA blockbuster and M rated games also make up the majority of the games that sold at least 1M on Steam. Though Steam has been slightly kinder to the other games.
Nintendo systems going back to NES are selling the direct inverse of Playstations, Xboxes, and Steam when it comes to games.
The point is Nintendo has long standing kiddy, family friendly, "casual", nerdy and feminine image with the Western public, with the stigma being strongest in U.S., UK, Canada, and Australia.
Steam and PC have the stigma of being for nerds and geeks (PC gaming has had this stigma since the 80s).
Playstation and Xbox have a strong image in the U.S., UK, Canada, and Australia for being machines that men play their "hardcore"/real game.
This stigma of hardware/brands is also reflected in Western development culture.
It's not just little kids and tweens trying to appear cool in the West.
P.S. in my last marketing class at university one of the women in the class told me her boyfriend wouldn't play on any Nintendo system, because he thought it was too feminine and kiddy. She literally asked me if there was any masculine software that would make him play on her Nintendo systems. He refused to Play Call of Duty on said Nintendo system because the system made Call of Duty feminine and kiddy.
I thought she was joking or something, but she was dead serious.
Sadly that wasn't the last time I heard stories like that.
DJ Octopus (?), Captain Cuttlefish, The Great Zapfish, and Octarians please. Also Sheldon and the purple haired spiky guy who adds slots would be cool too.
@JaxonH
Actually the kiddy/ "casual"/family friendly image is driving Western 3rd parties away, who don't want to bother with systems that have those groups in meaningful amounts.
That image is preventing "hardcore"/real gamers from buying Nintendo games and system.
It's also preventing the industry from taking Nintendo seriously.
The main focus of the gaming industry are on male gamers 15-35 who want AAA blockbuster games, M-rated games and sports games.
This is all based on NPD's and EEDAR's research and connections in the gaming industry.
@zool You know there are more people in the world than those who only buy PS and Xbox products.
Xbox and PS owners don't want to associate and game with those outside of the "hardcore"/real gamer demographic according to NPD and other market research companies. They don't even like interacting with people in real life, who aren't in their gaming demographic.
NPD and EEDAR sales data openly shows that "hardcore"/real gamers don't buy Nintendo systems and handhelds. They also rarely buy PC games.
The same data shows those gamers won't normally playNintendo games or any colorful/E rated games.
The data also shows those gamers buy most of the 3rd party releases.
Lastly the sales data shows families, "casuals", women, nerds and others are the primary buyers of Nintendo products since the SNES.
The sales data goes back to the SNES in the West.
My 3DS gets the vast majority of my gaming time. Wii U is the only console I own. I own a few Steam and PC games too. I've owned every Nintendo system to date.
But what we buy doesn't change how the industry works and what "hardcore"/real gamers buy.
@Grumblevolcano He maybe a business man, but he doesn't have full power as CEO. He has joint leadership and the employees have a say in how the company is ran.
Nintendo has their own culture, which he is following.
Though Nintendo most certainly will get hell for "rehashing" games at NX launch by the media and gamers.
@FX29 PS4 proved that people don't like BC in their systems.
Though it is safe to assume Nintendo's next handheld will be BC, because all Nintendo handhelds have been BC with their predecessors and ARM chips are cheap to buy.
@rjejr You're assuming Nintendo's software is what people want.
People who buy Xbox, Playstation and Steam will not buy a Nintendo system because it has Nintendo games instead of "hardcore"/real games. You need these people in order to get 3rd party support and good press.
Only the non "hardcore"/real gamers are willing to buy Nintendo games.
@sinalefa I regularly see Nintendo games on discounts at my local retailers.
Last month, my local Meijer's had a CODE NAME S.T.E.A.M. for $20. They also had a sale on ORAS, Happy Home Designer, Majora's Mask, Splatoon, Amiibos and other Nintendo stuff the past few months with steep discounts.
Target this fall had a B2G1 on all video games including Nintendo games.
My local Best Buy and Gamestop also have a lot of Nintendo games on sale too.
Though to be fair, Nintendo isn't the only publisher to keep prices steady:
Square-Enix Konami Capcom Take Two (includes Rockstar) Many of WB's games Microsoft (it's rare to find a Microsoft game on official mark down). EA's non sports titles Many of Sega's games Many of Ubisoft's non yearly games.
It's just yearly games that receive huge mark downs, due to the fact that sales drop off in 3 weeks after release.
Steam does put everything on sale, though Steam users rarely pay more than $10 for any game, causing developers to struggle at making money on Steam.
I bought the following games at release at discount:
*Happy Home Designer ($20 off) *Xenoblade Chronicles 3DS ($20 off, shortly after release) *Xenoblade Chronicles X ($30 off at release) *Pokemon OR ($15 off at release) *Scribblenauts Wii U (Got it for $8 a few months after release) *Tekken Tag Tourny 2 (Got it for $8 at the same sale) *Captain Toad ($10 off at release) *Super Mario 3D Land ($20 off at release) *Smash Bros Wii U ($10 off) *M&L:Dream Team *Windwaker HD (I got it at $37 off at release) *Mario Golf 3DS (I got it at $10 off at release) *Star Fox 643DS (I go it for $20 off at release at Kmart) *Splatoon (I got it for $20 off at release too) etc...
TPHD I will get it at a minimum of $5 off at release (depends on how many points I have on Powerups).
I will also get Pokken at least $10 off at release (Depends on my Meijer's rewards account).
I literally bought most of my Wii, DS, 3DS, and Wii U libraries at huge discounts at or near release.
How do I do this???
Nearly every major retailer has a rewards program or frequent shopper program.
Best buy: has their reward zone program that earns extra points for those who have GCU on top of it (I rarely shop at BB).
Toys R Us: has a rewards program that also works with all video game stuff. it's $1 = 1 point. They also have really good sales every few months.
Target has rewards program too, which bonuses are given to big new releases including video games.
Meijer's has a rewards program for every dollar you spend. I regularly get $5-$30 each month in rewards credit. They also have regular sales on General Merchandise (video games included) and you can use the rewards program with it.
Gamestop has very good program for those who buy tons of games (my Gamestops are really well staffed and clean).
Walmart has a rewards program too. Kohl's has one too and they have some games and systems.
My point is there is no good reason for you to pay full price for video games, gaming systems, Apple stuff and other products this day in age!!!
Gamers on many sites are already unhappy with this rumor because they don't want the console to become a haven for ports and remasters. Many are saying this rumor, shows that Nintendo won't launch the NX with any original titles.
Even the Nexus of Hardcore Gaming is riled up over this rumor.

It has existed since NES.
How do you stop Microsoft, Sony and 3rd parties from enforcing the stigma?

Those don't even run perfectly either.
They suffer from many issues as well.
You can run GBA games on it, if you don't mind have a lot of issues.
Running GBA on the direct hardware isn't the problem per say, as it is making it run fully on the 3DS OS.
But Nintendo and 3rd parties don't want GBA games to run on the hardware, because it would open the system up to piracy just like the DS.
It's the same reason why Sony is having trouble getting PS2 games to work perfectly with PS4 OS.
Re: Feature: Five Key Details That May Emerge From Nintendo's Financial Reports and Briefings
@leo13
It probably could, but due to the 3DS eShop and VC having low sales doesn't make it worth it.
Though I'm all for it, just to see the salt from everyone screaming about how Nintendo screwed 3DS owners in favor of n3DS owners.
Re: Nintendo Share Value Climbs Once Again Ahead of Financial Results
@datamonkey
It's extremely correct in today's market.
Very few investors both big and small are long term investors.
Most are in for a short term profit.
This is why stocks swing as much as they do on the market.
Very few people and institutionalized investors hold stock for more than a few weeks, let alone an actual month.
Today's investor is not the investor from the 70s.

Gamers and the gaming media would be stark raving mad, if Nintendo announced anything NX related at a shareholder event or any other non gaming event.
We'd get headlines even from this site reading as such "Nintendo announced NX at shareholder event. Does Nintendo even care about gamers anymore?" Or "Nintendo backstabs gaming, shows NX news to shareholders!"
Re: Feature: Five Key Details That May Emerge From Nintendo's Financial Reports and Briefings
@Lebon14
Actually gamers are still complaining about how bad GBA Ambassador games run on 3DS. Many have said they'd wish Nintendo never released them.
So releasing GBA Ambassador games was a horrible mistake in hindsight.
Re: Nintendo Share Value Climbs Once Again Ahead of Financial Results
@TheLobster
Actually the rule to stock goes as follows.
"Buy on rumors, sell on news!"
The other rule is "Buy low, sell high!"
Most investors and shareholders are short term, and buy/sell stocks to make a short term profit.
There is something wrong, if you are holding stock for more than few weeks.
With that said the Asian markets are up today, which is boosting most Asian stocks.
Re: Feature: Five Key Details That May Emerge From Nintendo's Financial Reports and Briefings
@ZAZX
Smash Bros is a fighting game and the smoothness is based partially on the connection of the person you are playing against.
This goes for all fighting games.
Re: Feature: Five Key Details That May Emerge From Nintendo's Financial Reports and Briefings
@Grumblevolcano
Shareholders don't really care about dedicated hardware.
Shareholders would by thrilled if Nintendo announced they were going mobile only.
Re: Feature: Five Key Details That May Emerge From Nintendo's Financial Reports and Briefings
We will probably get info on everything but NX.
Especially the new My Nintendo program launching in March alongside Miitomo.
Re: Talking Point: Learning Lessons From the Past Can Define Nintendo's NX Launch
@Bolt_Strike
But they control the gaming media and have influence on the mainstream media.
I mean both the gaming and mainstream media use NeoGaf and others as sources on gaming.
Those "hardcore"/real gamers are believed to buy more games than everyone else, they also determine where 3rd parties put their games.
Though ironically they are also the biggest group on mobile when it comes to spending (there are multiple segments of mobile owners).
Re: Talking Point: Learning Lessons From the Past Can Define Nintendo's NX Launch
@ProudGrimleal
There isn't anything wrong with making mobile software as long as it doesn't hurt their main pillars.
If anything it could bring them more revenue and help increase brand awareness.
This in turn could boost hardware sales.
I mean Microsoft and Sony have phones and mobiles app (even games).
Most developers do to some degree.
I do read all the market research and analysis as they are made public.
All you need is a good RSS newsfeeder and good sites in it.
Re: Talking Point: Learning Lessons From the Past Can Define Nintendo's NX Launch
@ProudGrimleal
I knew what you meant.
Re: Talking Point: Learning Lessons From the Past Can Define Nintendo's NX Launch
@Ichiban
It's not rubbish.
Re: Talking Point: Learning Lessons From the Past Can Define Nintendo's NX Launch
@ProudGrimleal
The lack of E-rated family friendly titles on those systems is due to deliberate efforts made by Microsoft and Sony.
Re: Talking Point: Learning Lessons From the Past Can Define Nintendo's NX Launch
@peeks
It's not a true discount.
Re: Talking Point: Learning Lessons From the Past Can Define Nintendo's NX Launch
@peeks
You know those free PSN games and Xbox Live Gold games aren't free.
They come bundled with your monthly subscription.
The minute you cancel your subscription you lose the games for good.
They are literally tied to your subscription.
Re: Talking Point: Learning Lessons From the Past Can Define Nintendo's NX Launch
@ProudGrimleal
if Nintendo went 3rd party, they'd be reduced to making only the most popular games with everything else being canceled due to a lack of sales.
Re: Talking Point: Learning Lessons From the Past Can Define Nintendo's NX Launch
@Danrenfroe2016
Re: Nintendo Confirms Bayonetta, Corrin & Final Mii Costume DLC in Super Smash Bros. for 3rd February
Better be up by the time I get back from my appointment that day.
Re: Monster Hunter X (Cross) Sales Hit 3.2 Million as Capcom Talks Up 'Firm' Overseas Results
@sandman89
Resident Evil skipped 3DS and Wii U, when Resident Evil Revelations bombed on consoles (Wii U version was in line with the other versions).
So YAY for US we killed the Revelations series.
Re: Monster Hunter X (Cross) Sales Hit 3.2 Million as Capcom Talks Up 'Firm' Overseas Results
@JaxonH
You really don't understand the masculine identity, especially the American and British masculine identities.
-AAA blockbuster games
-M rated games
-Realistic sports games
Realistic others
That group literally doesn't play anything else, even if the game is free.
The research has shown they avidly avoid E and E10+ rated games.
They avoid most T rated games.
They refuse to play games that have bright colors or lots of colors
They don't enjoy family friendly designs
They avoid most games that have local co-op
They avoid playing on systems that have large groups of other people
They avoid playing with everyone else aka "casuals".
Re: Rumour: Data Miners Find Evidence That Suggests New Splatoon amiibo Are Coming
DJ Octopus (?), Captain Cuttlefish, The Great Zapfish, and Octarians please.
Also Sheldon and the purple haired spiky guy who adds slots would be cool too.
Re: Monster Hunter X (Cross) Sales Hit 3.2 Million as Capcom Talks Up 'Firm' Overseas Results
@JaxonH
Re: Nintendo Life Weekly: Super Smash Bros. Rumoured as NX Launch Title, Shovel Knight amiibo Embarrassment & More
@zool
You know there are more people in the world than those who only buy PS and Xbox products.
Xbox and PS owners don't want to associate and game with those outside of the "hardcore"/real gamer demographic according to NPD and other market research companies.
They don't even like interacting with people in real life, who aren't in their gaming demographic.
Re: The North American eShop Winter Warm-Up Sale Concludes With 15 More Discounts
@faint
Because they devalue the products.
Gamers are easily insulted by many thing these days.
Re: Rumour: Super Smash Bros. Planned as NX Launch Title, Bandai Namco Working on "Several" Games
@Neko_Ichigofan
I'm not bashing anyone
Re: Rumour: Super Smash Bros. Planned as NX Launch Title, Bandai Namco Working on "Several" Games
@Grumblevolcano
He maybe a business man, but he doesn't have full power as CEO.
He has joint leadership and the employees have a say in how the company is ran.
Nintendo has their own culture, which he is following.
Though Nintendo most certainly will get hell for "rehashing" games at NX launch by the media and gamers.
Re: The North American eShop Winter Warm-Up Sale Concludes With 15 More Discounts
@KTT
Gamers are complaining about how shallow the discounts are and the lack of diversity of games.
They are also upset that they paid full price for the same games and Nintendo isn't refunding them the difference.
Re: Rumour: Super Smash Bros. Planned as NX Launch Title, Bandai Namco Working on "Several" Games
@FX29
PS4 proved that people don't like BC in their systems.
Though it is safe to assume Nintendo's next handheld will be BC, because all Nintendo handhelds have been BC with their predecessors and ARM chips are cheap to buy.
Re: Rumour: Super Smash Bros. Planned as NX Launch Title, Bandai Namco Working on "Several" Games
@rjejr
You're assuming Nintendo's software is what people want.
People who buy Xbox, Playstation and Steam will not buy a Nintendo system because it has Nintendo games instead of "hardcore"/real games.
You need these people in order to get 3rd party support and good press.
Only the non "hardcore"/real gamers are willing to buy Nintendo games.
Re: Nintendo Download: 28th January (North America)
@Li_Bae
You know the Western reviews for Fates aren't out until a few days before release in February.
Every Fire Emblem game released in the West has been met with critically mixed reviews and sub par (below 90) on Metacritic.
Re: Nintendo Download: 28th January (North America)
@sinalefa
I regularly see Nintendo games on discounts at my local retailers.
Square-Enix
Konami
Capcom
Take Two (includes Rockstar)
Many of WB's games
Microsoft (it's rare to find a Microsoft game on official mark down).
EA's non sports titles
Many of Sega's games
Many of Ubisoft's non yearly games.
It's just yearly games that receive huge mark downs, due to the fact that sales drop off in 3 weeks after release.
Steam does put everything on sale, though Steam users rarely pay more than $10 for any game, causing developers to struggle at making money on Steam.
I bought the following games at release at discount:
*Happy Home Designer ($20 off)
*Xenoblade Chronicles 3DS ($20 off, shortly after release)
*Xenoblade Chronicles X ($30 off at release)
*Pokemon OR ($15 off at release)
*Scribblenauts Wii U (Got it for $8 a few months after release)
*Tekken Tag Tourny 2 (Got it for $8 at the same sale)
*Captain Toad ($10 off at release)
*Super Mario 3D Land ($20 off at release)
*Smash Bros Wii U ($10 off)
*M&L:Dream Team
*Windwaker HD (I got it at $37 off at release)
*Mario Golf 3DS (I got it at $10 off at release)
*Star Fox 643DS (I go it for $20 off at release at Kmart)
*Splatoon (I got it for $20 off at release too)
etc...
Re: The North American eShop Winter Warm-Up Sale Concludes With 15 More Discounts
I'm surprised more people aren't more upset about this sale on here.
Gamers are raging across the other sites and social media claiming the sale is a "slap in the face" and an insult from Nintendo.
Re: Rumour: Super Smash Bros. Planned as NX Launch Title, Bandai Namco Working on "Several" Games
Gamers on many sites are already unhappy with this rumor because they don't want the console to become a haven for ports and remasters.
Many are saying this rumor, shows that Nintendo won't launch the NX with any original titles.
Even the Nexus of Hardcore Gaming is riled up over this rumor.
