Sssh don't get in the way of outrage...
You should know better?

Also the demos are available at Wii U retailer Kiosks this week (provided the stores updated them).

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

@Socar
It's not racism since it effects all companies and industries regardless of nationality.

The West has the Anglo-American cultural and social norms.

Anyways it's up to a company to price it's products as it sees fit.

It's up to consumers to judge for themselves if the product is worth the price.

FYI: No one noticed that Star Fox Zero is $49.99 on the U.S. eShop. Though you have to buy Star Fox Guard separately, though you net a $5 off discount for owning Zero.

The game is only $60 at retail because it is bundled with Guard.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

@wazlon
It wouldn't have changed much.
The game would have been burned at the stake for lacking innovation and being too rehashy of the Star Fox formula.

Games these days are typically hated for 3 reasons:

1)Lack of top tier graphics
2) Being too innovative/new that deviates from the established formula
3)Sticking to closely to an established formula and lacking any innovation.

It effects all games these days.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Xenocity

@Socar
People in the West do not want to spend top dollar for games and systems that are filled with bright colors, cutesy characters, non realistic worlds etc... aka it's made for kids and families.

People in the West take the whole grown up thing too literally and seriously, refusing to touch the "colorful" side of gaming.

M-rated games, realistic games, and AAA Blockbuster games are seen as having value and being hard to make.

Colorful E and T rated games are seen unfairly as being simple and easy to make, while lacking value in the West.

Anglo-American culture puts a big emphasis on growing up and leaving all that childish stuff behind for mature adult stuff.

Something is seen as wrong and immature if an adult male is playing and enjoying games with bright colors, cutesy characters, and other wacky colorful things in it.

If he is playing a violent shooter like Call of Duty, then he's just doing what adult gamers do.

the same thing can be said for those who enjoy Animation, Kaiju movies (such as Godzilla), and other stuff.

This culture and social norms are said to be causing a lot of health, especially mental health issues with men in many Western cultures.

They gave it a 9.
The reviewer states it's a return to form for Star Fox.
He claims it is just what he wanted in a Star Fox game, as in one that returns to Star Fox 64 roots and expands on it.

The only two cons they listed are:
Not enough On Rails Only stages and Steep learning curve that many will struggle to overcome

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

@VanillaLake
Actually two of the main reasons for Nintendo's drop in sales is literally:

1) They have a horrible stigma in the Western side of gaming been seen as being for kids, "casuals," and women.This has bled over to the mainstream in the West who also sees Nintendo as being made for kids (due to all the games having all the bright colors and lacking violence, while Microsoft and Sony systems are made for adults

We have all the numbers from the market researchers on it.

This is highly influenced by the Western Markets primarily shifting to violent, M-rated games, and AAA Blockbuster show stoppers.
This is why NPD and the other Western sales trackers show mainly those games selling well on PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360.

2) Nintendo systems have gotten more expensive as time goes on and not many people are willing to spend more than $200 USD for a system that features bright colors and family friendly games.

These to primary factors have killed Nintendo's console sales like a brick, with Wii barely escaping the kiddy stigma in the beginning.

This has been surveyed and researched by all the major gaming companies and market researchers to hell and back.

Switching to an OS based platform like NX is, you will see the combined sales of handheld and console into one overarching market to the same way Android is one big market despite numerous form factors.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Xenocity

Lets review Wii U Nintendo games that scored close to Star Fox Zero (+/-10pts)
The Wonderful 101: 78
Pokken: 76
Splatoon: 81 (this is updated score)
Captain Toad: 81
Hyrule Warriors: 76
Lego City: Undercover: 80
Xenoblade Chronicles X: 84
Yoshi's Wooly World: 76
Kirby and the Cursed Rainbow: 73
etc...

Even Super Mario Maker and Mario Kart 8 received an 88 on Metacritic, falling short of goodness.

People need to remember there is no bonus or incentive for reviewers to give Nintendo games and games on Nintendo systems good high scores.

Nintendo does not whine and dine the press like all other major publishers do with the gaming media and reviewers.
Major publishers give them tons of free goodies, money and literally take them to 4 star restaurants for dinner. Even Microsoft has been known to take them to 4 star resorts.

Major gaming media outlets readership/viewership is majority Xbox and Playstation fans who are teens and grown men who don't want to hear about or play Nintendo stuff.
They get tons of outrage and backlash from them, if they give Nintendo games high scores.
This in turn leads to a drop in readership/viewership, which in turn leads into a drop of revenue, in turn a drop in profits.

Eurogamer always has to deal with people in their comment sections, forums and social media accounts accusing them of "giving into" Nintendo when ever they give Nintendo a good review.
That's why their positive reviews on Nintendo products always make it clear they aren't getting anything from Nintendo and aren't catering to them.

Same thing happens on Ars Technica, Kotaku, IGN, Gamespot, USgamer etc.. as of late.

It's literally poison to the major gaming media outlets to discuss Nintendo positively, due to their readership/viewership.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Xenocity

@BlueKnight07
That is true.
I can't remember the last time an on-rail game was universally accepted (score in the 90s.)

I mean if Bethesda can release Fallout 4 with tons of serious glitches and bugs and get top tier review scores, then anything is possible (88 on XO)
Every Bethesda game has serious bugs and glitches at launch and never gets any flack for it.

I mean Halo: Master Chief Collection managed an 85 on Metacritic despite being a broken game at launch.
Hell they haven't successfully fixed the online mode yet.

Maybe this "controversy" will push Star Fox Zero to sell more than 3M+ and match the original game in sales.

Anyways this game is going to be a love/hate game like Splatoon, Smash 4, Bloodborne, The Order, Devils Third (or should I say turd?) etc...

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Xenocity

@Socar
But to be fair Fates had huge amount of controversy that spilled into the mainstream media boosting the profile of Fates way beyond any game in the franchise in the West.
So people bought the game to see what it was all about.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Xenocity

@akaDv8R
Reviewers rarely complete games these days, especially at general gaming sites like IGN, Gamespot, Eurogamer, USgamer etc...

They only play a portion of the games, more if the have the time, actually like the game, and/or getting physical bonuses from the publisher and developer.

They are also on deadlines, strict rules given to them on major games, especially from EA, Ubisoft, Activision, and Microsoft on how to review those games properly.

You have to be very careful at reviewing major games these days from major publishers, unless you want to get fired and/or blacklisted (it has happened a lot over the past decade).

Since Star Fox is a mid tier/AA/Mid budget game, you can get away with reviewing it as you see fit even for clicks.

Many reviewers/journalist purposely take shots at what they are reviewing to rile people up in order to get clicks.
Especially when IGN went on about how they wished Splatoon was a different game in a different genre so they could like it better.

All these online sites revenues are driven by ads, visits and clicks.
They are all making a nice profit over the Star Fox Zero review controversy this week.

Again I'm not defending or attacking this game or any media outlet.

Though Nintendo should have sent reviewers some special physical Star Fox merchandise and/or a wade of cash to the reviewers, they would have gotten a much higher score for this game.

It works for most Western publishers... [see the goodies and stuff Bethesda shipped with Fallout 4 review copies and what Microsoft sent to reviewers with Halo 5 review copies]

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

@VanillaLake
The aggregate score of anything else than 90% is bad in gaming.
Star Fox and Star Fox 64 have aggregate score in the 80s which means the games are AVERAGE on the gaming scale.

I mean 88% and 89% would be great for a movie, song or book.

If this game pulled an RE6 and became a FPS, it would have reviewed better.

There is literally no reason why rails games should still exist in gaming this day in age.

I'm not defending or hating this game, I just think it shouldn't exist as an on-rail game, because there time passed with PS2.

On-rail games should be relegated to mobile including Star Fox, because it's better situated for short bursts of play that "casuals" and kids tend to like.

Their reputation isn't that good, because the failed to get 90% or higher aggregate score on Opencritic, Gameranking, and Metacritic

Also Star Fox had a good reputation it would have had the sales to back.

I'm not manipulating anything, just pointing out the horrid flaws that plague metacritic in general.

Gameranking and Opencritic are more open and fair in their aggregate process.

people forget how the scale works for gaming reveiws.

Let this image be your guide on how review scores were designed for gaming based on sales data.

Untitled

The games that score less than 9 or 90% are average at best.
7 or 70% to 8 or 80% are medicore and anything under 7 or 70% is considered trash in gaming.

This is the proper way to review scores as it has been hammered home over the last decade.
Or do you guys need Gamespot, IGN, EA, Sony and Microsoft to reeducate you in what review scores mean.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Xenocity

@Kirk
That is what open critic does and they accept all reviews as long as the publication and site are credible.

That's why Star Fox Zero sits at 72, higher than Metacritic.
Metacritic has cut off point and has a list of accepted publications and sites.

http://www.gamerankings.com/snes/588690-star-fox/index.html

Gameranking has the only collection of reviews score lasting from 1993, though you can't read them due to expiration of links.

Gameranking holds the original Star Fox at 88%, which means it's good and has flaws (based on 7 reviews) If was it was 90% or higher it would mean the game is great with AAA production values (this is how gaming reviews have been since the 90s).

Gameranking uses a different method than Metacritic and is older.
They also have all the Star Fox games rated higher than Metacritic does at the moment.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Xenocity

@Kirk
No Star Fox on SNES wasn't universally praised.
Plenty of reviewers were unhappy with kiddy presentation and having talking animals.

Anyways in today's market on rail shooters won't get high review scores, because frankly they aren't liked for what they are.

Gamers have never taken to on rail shooters because they see them as inferior to other types of games.
They are also seen as having inferior graphics.

You could have Sony or EA make graphical showcase of an on-rail shooter, and it would have polarizing reviews across the board about the awful graphics, linear gameplay, and being too focused on on rails gameplay and vehicles.

On rails is just a niche genre and always will be, especially if your on-rails game features animals and colorful graphics.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Xenocity

@Kirk
Star Fox games have always gotten polarizing review scores due to them being on rail shooters and linear.

On rail shooters rarely get good review scores across the board, due to that type of game being horribly unpopular.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

Xenocity

@Indielink
USGamer complained that the game is too focused on being on rails and too linear.

Eurogamer also complained that the game was too on rails and lacked diverse gameplay. They also hit home on how linear it is.

IGN, Gamespot, NWR, etc... all have said similar things about this game.

Most reviewers don't care for on rail shooters and their linear nature.

Re: Rumour: NX Software Lineup Will "Blow Away" Wii U, Controller Streaming Gimmick "Was Made Up"

Xenocity

If Nintendo really increases 1st party output on NX in any meaningful way, it will lead to a flooded market that 3rd parties cannot compete in.

3rd parties have been complaining for multiple generations about Nintendo systems being to 1st party heavy which hurts their sales.

Sony and Microsoft on the other hand have been shuttering studios this gen and slowing the amount of 1st party titles they release to make their systems more friendlier to 3rd parties. This is a key reason why they get more 3rd party support than Nintendo systems.

Re: Review: Star Fox Zero (Wii U)

This line from Giant Bomb's review sums up how reviewers and most gamers feel about these types of games.

Re: Editorial: From Metroid: Other M to Star Fox Zero, the Awkward Experimentation With Beloved Franchises

@Project_Dolphin
Actually every Nintendo console has sold less than it's predecessor, except for Wii.

NES sold ~60M
SNES sold ~50M
N64 sold ~35M
Gamecube sold ~22M
Wii sold ~105M
Wii U ~10M

The difference here is Wii actually did something radically different and made games that appealed to the general public aka "casuals"/kids/women and Nintendo fans.

SNES, N64, and Gamecube tried too hard to appeal to the "hardcore" gamer who in the West moved on to M-rated games, AAA Blockbusters, sports games and shooters.

This is why PS1, PS2 and PS4 outsold the competition combined that a new media format.

These 3 systems are narrowly tailored for the "hardcore" Western male gamer taste aka 15-35 males who prefer to play M-rated games, AAA Blockbusters, sports games and shooters.

Sony has been banging the drums on how they succeeded in taking the "hardcore" and adult gamers away from Microsoft and Nintendo, while leaving Xbox One and Wii U for "casuals", kids and fans of those systems.

PS4 according to NPD, EEDAR, and others is very popular with the 15-35 males who exclusively play M-rated games, AAA Blockbusters, sports games and shooters.
This is driving the fast paced PS4 sales that should in the end match PS1 sales.
They aren't attracting the other demographics in any real form.

Wii U and Xbox One casts a wider demographic net only to mostly other group and some of the Western "hardcore" gamer.

Re: Editorial: From Metroid: Other M to Star Fox Zero, the Awkward Experimentation With Beloved Franchises

Xenocity

@MarioPhD
Nintendo has gotten over 10 years of negative feedback for "experimenting" and innovating games.
Many remember the Gamecube for being filled with new ideas that "forsaken" what made the games great on Nintendo 64 and previous.

Super Mario Galaxy 1&2 were well known for being polarizing games. Many reviewers and people wanted a returned to form for 3D Mario aka another take on Super Mario 64 instead of what Galaxy 1&2 delivered. Many thought they were a great take on Mario.
Others still stick to their views that they are another round of rehashing of the Mario formula.

Though those who liked Mario Galaxy 1&2 weren't nearly as vocal as those who took issue with them.

If you read the majority of the reviews for Metroid Prime 3, it was Nintendo/Retro rehashing the Prime formula for instead of doing something new.

Skyward Sword was hated by many reviewers for sticking to the Zelda formula too closely and being too "fetch questing" Others hated it for being too story driven. while others claimed it wasn't cinematic enough.

DKC:R was mixed because large portion of reveiwers and people didn't want another Donkey Kong game, especially not one from Retro.

Wii Sports was disliked by many gamers for being too gimmicky and ruining sports games.

Sin and Punishment 2 mixed because many thought it was too focused on being on rails.

Animal Crossing City Folk was famously decried by major outlets as the ultimate DS port in order to save money.

Smash Bros Brawl was hated for being too innovative and not sticking to the established template while adding too many characters for the "casuals".

Xenoblade Chronicles was mixed when it came to the U.S. by reveiwers, citing it as being too linear and too Japanese.

etc...
The Wii/GC era was horrible received in mix context as a lot of people were put off by the changes to those games and others who thought they didn't go far enough.

Now on Wii U we have the issues of people and reveiwers claiming the games are too safe after spending a decade whining about Nintendo straying too far from the established templates.

Even Smash 4 was made the way it was according to Sakurai, after all the hate he received for trying to take the series in a different direction with Brawl. In his many interviews since both versions of 4 came out, he doesn't understand why gamers and fans are "unhappy" with the games.

I do contend there is no way in hell a tower defense game can sell on a console this day in age (Star Fox Guard).

Since every Star Fox game is typically a mid tier budget game or as some put it "lazy" and with Star Fox Guard using Star Fox Zero assets, they are making some profit on both.

Star Fox Zero will be hailed by many as the return to form, others will hate it for being too "rehashy" and "lazy". Others will avoid it for being too colorful and kiddy/casual looking.

Miyamoto and Platinum will be left scratching their head on why the game was highly divisive.

At least I'll be enjoying Star Fox Zero on Friday and all the backlash it receives.

Re: Editorial: From Metroid: Other M to Star Fox Zero, the Awkward Experimentation With Beloved Franchises

Xenocity

@Yorumi
What are you rambling about?

Star Fox Zero looks like the true successor to Star Fox 64 that people have been asking for, for over a decade and it comes bundled with a fun looking second game.

Remember the biggest complaint about Star Fox 64? Reviewers complained it lacked gameplay diversity and was too dependent on vehicles.

The biggests complaints about Star Fox Adventure was the lack of gameplay diversity, lack of Arwing missions, and the game being a boring Zelda clone.

The biggest complaints about Assault was the lack of gameplay diversity, lack of first person shooting, lack of good controls.
People complained that they wasted time on a multiplayer mode that no one wanted or asked to be in the game.

Star Fox Command (DS) biggest complaints was the touchscreen usage and story.

Star Fox 64 3D was celebrated as the return to form for the series. The biggest complaint was the game being on 3DS.
The reviewers and people who played it demanded the next Star Fox game be the true successor to Star Fox 64 in gameplay.

I bet reviewers will lambaste Star Fox Zero for being too dependent on vehicles and featuring bright and color graphics with animals instead of being dark a gritty.

You can go read all the reviews for reach Star Fox game and see all rabbid complaints about each Star Fox game.

Re: Editorial: From Metroid: Other M to Star Fox Zero, the Awkward Experimentation With Beloved Franchises

Most publishers and developers would disagree with you there.

Sega, EA, Activision, Ubisoft, Square, Konami, Sony and Microsoft (there are more companies) don't want to bother to make games that sell less than 3 Million.
They are heavily focused on having huge sellers in the realm of 5-10 Million if not more.
Everything else is viewed as a failure and waste of resources.

Re: Editorial: From Metroid: Other M to Star Fox Zero, the Awkward Experimentation With Beloved Franchises

Xenocity

@Yorumi
Star Fox Zero is an expanded version of the original story to a much larger degree according to Miyamoto.

They did this to make it more acceptable to everyone, so they don't get a huge backlash for ruining Star Fox or Abandoning Star Fox, or Changing the root story too much.
They are purposely playing it safe character wise, to prevent a divisive reception again.

Maybe Nintendo would be more willing to do something different if they didn't get a massive backlash for every little thing.

Re: Editorial: From Metroid: Other M to Star Fox Zero, the Awkward Experimentation With Beloved Franchises

Xenocity

@Socar
Actually that's not true...

Each Star Fox game has sold more than 1 Million (with most struggled to hit the 1 Million mark), but only Star Fox 64 sold 4 Million (best selling game) because it was the launch game for the Rumble Pak (bundled).

Each Star Fox game has been divisive at launch by the press and gamers, with Star Fox and Star Fox 64 being included.

Re: Editorial: From Metroid: Other M to Star Fox Zero, the Awkward Experimentation With Beloved Franchises

Xenocity

People on here seem to forget it what last generation showed.

Almost every game that sold 1 million on PS3 were very similar to the point you could call them all retreads.
The 4 main categories of games that sold that well were:
1) Ubisoft the game (All their best sellers are practically retreads of AC series)
2) Shooters, mainly Call of Duty
3) GTA type games
4) Realistic Sports

The few exceptions were Sports Championship, LBP1, Minecraft and FFXII.

Practically everything else bombed to the point of being lucky to sell 100k.

Xbox 360 mirrored PS3 fully, with Minecraft and Kinect games being the exception to the million seller rule.

This is a huge reason for the mass contraction of developers last gen.

PS4 and Xbox One are exactly the same as their predecessors in terms of what is selling and charting, especially in the West.

Mid Tier and down are struggling to sell on PS4 and Xbox One, while doing better on Vita, 3DS, Wii U and sometimes Steam.

Though ironically Nintendo is the only one who has ever gotten flack for "rehashing" and "retreads" it shows in sales.

Though to be fair every major advancement in gaming to date came from hardware advancements.
This is either in the form of new inputs, more RAM, better CPUs, better GPUs etc...

Actually prefer Nintendo's take but it's no big secret on how 3rd parties and the competition see it.

Also Sega went crazy with marketing SMS and Genesis as the system for the "hardcore" and for those who want "mature" games instead of Nintendo's kiddy and "casual" games.
Sega went crazy talking about Genesis being for you and SNES for your little brother and parents.

Sony and Microsoft took it further.

Re: Rumour: More Sources Highlight NX Controller 'Gimmick' and a Major Game Project

Xenocity

@Cosats
Actual NPD and EEDAR numbers repeatedly show that western males 15-35 don't want to game and/or identify with anyone outside of that group. It's also widely believed by 3rd parties, Sony and Microsoft that women only want to play games with bright colors and hate violence.
They only want to play games like The Sims, Cooking Mama, Mario, Candy Crush and Animal Crossing. If all the data is believed.

Sony to make Vita to appeal to women released a dog adventure game and Pink Vita and advertised it as gaming for Women. They did the same thing for PS2, PS3, PSP. Microsoft made Pink Xboxes and Xbox 360s to counter they only cater to men.

Re: Rumour: More Sources Highlight NX Controller 'Gimmick' and a Major Game Project

Xenocity

@Charinzardon
Wii U would have sold marginally better at best if it matched PS4 in specs and cost a lot more than PS4.

1)Nintendo has always been viewed/labeled as a kiddy and "casual" company in the West and Western "hardcore" gamers do not want to identify with any company that has those labels and makes games for everyone. This dates back to NES.

Add in the fact that Nintendo is now seen as being for Women, that hurts them further in the eyes of Western "hardcore" gamers that Sony and Microsoft exclusively cater their system too.
Also Western 3rd parties, Konami and Square are heavily invested in providing games for those Western "hardcore" gamers (the majority of their profits come from them).

2)Nintendo systems have a very long history of sell T and E rated games instead of primarily M rated games like Sony and Microsoft do.

3)Nintendo games and systems are seen for having loads of bright colors and animated type games which the West deems as Childish. I mean I love the bright colors but most gamers I know hate them in their games.
Realistic and M-rated games are seen as being for adults in the West.

4) Most 3rd parties have trouble selling their games on Nintendo systems, even killing their own sales by offering a better package of the same games on other systems.

As long as 3rd parties believe they can't sell games on Nintendo systems, they won't take the systems seriously.

Those 4 issues (if you can call them that) are why Western side of gaming won't bother with Nintendo.

Re: Rumour: More Sources Highlight NX Controller 'Gimmick' and a Major Game Project

Xenocity

This new controller if true, could finally address the complaints about 3rd parties not being able to customize the physical inputs on PS4 and Xbox One to suit their games.

If all the rumors are true that it has haptic feedback for the screen and allows you to assign inputs anywhere on the screen, then it should do wonders for gaming.

As for playing console games via WIFI and system streaming, it probably would be a better hit than Wii U.

I mean Sony has been touting Remote Play heavily in advertisements for PS4. Sony has been pushing the "You can play PS4 anywhere" and "You don't need to be home to play PS4" a lot the past year. They used it last E3, TGS, Gamescon and even this past GDC.

You see it in store displays, the PS4 demo units advertise it with the Vita right next to PS4 to show it off. Many of their TV and Radio ads show off the Remote Play.
Their internet ads are also big on Remote Play.

Sony has been pushing hard that you are "chained" to your TV to play Xbox One and Wii U.

PS4 fans have been following suit on many sites, publishing articles about it and posting it on forums including IGN, Gamespot and NeoGaf.

Nintendo can now capitalize on Sony's big marketing push with Remote Play as PS4's killer feature.

Re: Rumour: More Sources Highlight NX Controller 'Gimmick' and a Major Game Project

Xenocity

@Acein210
The first Nintendo system to have a controller that was closest to the competition was the SNES.
The competition focused on 6 face buttons, 360 degree circular D-pads and other features to better arcade play (including MD/Genesis).

SNES controller was mocked by the competition and developers for having only 4 face buttons in diamond shape, two shoulder buttons, and a basic D-pad.
Sega, NeoGeo, 3Do, Turbographx all ran ads about how SNES controller focused on gimmicks instead of tried and true play.

MD/Genesis, CDX, NeoGeo, 3DO, and Turbo-Graphix 16/CD combined outsold the SNES with MD/Genesis and CDX sell within a few million of SNES.

Nintendo 64 controller had all the buttons of the original PS1 controller, the second PS1 controller and both Saturn controllers.

Only PS1's 3rd controller, Dual Shock 1, New 3DO and Jaguar had more buttons than Nintendo 64.

Nintendo 64 also had C-buttons, Z-button and Analog stick which most 3rd parties were hesitant to use over tried and true method.

Sony and Sega hit home on how Nintendo 64 controller had unwanted gimmicks in a lot of ads.

Gamecube only has one less shoulder button and no select button compared to the competition, but had superior triggers.
Yet the competition had a field day with it.

Wii U gamepad has all the buttons that PS4 and Xbox One has and extra inputs.

No one truly cares about Nintendo's controllers unless it adds a useful new feature that Sony can claim.

So yeah Nintendo has never matched the competition with features until this gen...

People seem to have forgotten the controversy over the original Star Fox and how it was received very polarizing.
Many people hated the original Star Fox for a variety of reasons including the control scheme.

Even Star Fox 64 received a lot of hate when it came out because it used analog stick and it's button layout. A lot of people hated and still do hate how badly Star Fox 64 plays.

Star Fox Adventure was heavily criticized for the way it controlled.

Star Fox Assault was heavily criticized for the way it controlled on foot missions and how the Arwing missions controlled.

Star Fox Command received heavy criticism for the way it controlled.

Star Fox 64 3D faced heavy criticism for all it's control options

Every Star Fox game to date has been very polarizing on how it controls and plays.
You either love or hate it, none have been universally accepted.
