Another week, another boatload of news that every fan is expected to digest alongside all the other things that are apparently happening outside the world of video games. Once again Nintendo Life Weekly is here to save you from the fate of current event vacuousness.
This week we look at the rumours surrounding a title in the Super Smash Bros. series to be arriving on the NX as a launch title, Detective Pikachu making the rounds, the Shovel Knight amiibo appearing in all the wrong places, and the usual roundup of releases & reviews.
Once you've finished watching, why not take the time to subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube? Go on, give us a reason, we dare you.

I hear there's a petition to have Danny DeVito voice Detective Pikachu, with a video to show how that works.
One part of me thinks "That's crazy! It'll never work!"
Another part says "that just might be crazy enough to work"
It's hilarious regardless.
The Danny DeVito thing I think would work, but will they actually get him? No lol If it gets big enough he or Nintendo may comment but I doubt it'll get bigger than that. /pours salt all over like the girl with the umbrella on the package
@GammaNoises Wouldn't that guy who does Aslan, or Benidict Cumberbatch do better if we're going for that motif?
Arnold Schwarzenegger!! 😄
SSBros. As long as it is only a launch title and not 'the' launch title.
An SSBros game will help sell NX's to SSBros fans, but it is not going to sell NX's to anyone else.
I guess about 70% of Wii U owners will eventually switch to the NX. That, over a few years would be about 7,000,000. Nintendo need to attract millions more buyers than that.
The question is what would tempt Xbox and PS to buy an NX?
@zool We don't know much about the NX right? I'm sure if it's much stronger than the WII U there can be a future. I sold my WII U because it doesn't have much variaty on system. It's just all the same. Nintendo needs 3rd party support to give players reason to own the NX system
Did you replace the Wii U with an Xbox? That seems to be the favourite thing to do.
Its great to finally have the NX be confirmed for 2016 by the macronix CEO. No more guessong. Its fact now!!!!
That petiton for Danny DeVito now has over 30,000 signatures xD
i still think that it's not smash but pokken, given that the namco job postings for a smash game coming out in 2015 turned out to be pokken. since the wii u version has limitations for it's 2-player, the nx version will be devoid of them.
Final Fantasy Explorers is pretty darn good. Highly recommend it. Especially if you were ever a fan of Phantasy Star Online or Phantasy Star Zero. The characters are charming, the game is charming, it has excellent music and plays very nicely with a more laid back feel to the gameplay unlike another action RPG we won't mention (Monster Hunter). If I had one complaint about Final Fantasy Explorers it would be the graphics look a little muddy sometimes and that they didn't use the stereoscopic 3D. I would personally rate the game an 8 because of the graphics. But the rest of the game is nearly perfect for online play. For those people who like to play solo you can do so here. although there isn't much of a storyline which is usual for games of this type (PSO,Monster Hunter). But single player can be fun too but the game is really geared to playing online or local with friends.
I feel the game plays much more like Phantasy Star Online than it does Monster Hunter. I'm really glad for that. PSO always had a laid feel to it where you never feel rushed. I always felt rushed playing Monster Hunter. You can craft every single piece of gear you use by foraging for items in the battle field. There is some neat gear to craft. That Sephiroth armor set looks amazing. The onion set looks sweet too. Right now I'm a level 22 Ranger and I'm building up a team of pets who help you in offline play. You can carry and train up to 3 pets for a group of 4.
@zool
You know there are more people in the world than those who only buy PS and Xbox products.
Xbox and PS owners don't want to associate and game with those outside of the "hardcore"/real gamer demographic according to NPD and other market research companies.
They don't even like interacting with people in real life, who aren't in their gaming demographic.
I think the Smash NX is a definitive version of the Wii U, and that's okay. It gives them one more launch title. Sony did the same thing with the Last of Us, and I think Microsoft did It with Tomb Raider. I'm sure the Zelda will release for NX along side the U version. That's two games at launch that they didn't have to spend a whole lot of extra time on.
Maybe that should free them up to get up a few good original titles. I'm saying a Mario 3D is in there. Maybe they can surprise us then with a Metroid, Animal Crossing. Kirby, etc. That give us four or five first party launch titles.
Maybe we could get the new Dragon Quest from, Square. Yacht Club could give the complete Shovel Knight with the last round of DLC. Bandai could give us a title. Sega could give us the Sonic title, and Maybe they could find one or two more third party games to come out for it at launch. COD, Infinity, and Skylanders.
@zool - Where do you guys come up with the numbers to support your negative Nintendoom theories?
How do you come up with these theories that always manage to include sales Numbers and doom in the first place?
Who are these people getting rid of Wii U and buying an Xbox?...it seems very strange, almost counter-intuitive to go to the major platform with the LEAST Japanese titles behind PS4 and PC.
@Xenocity sad
@Action51
Wii U has sold just over 10,000,000 units. The Wii sold 100,000,000.
That suggests that 90,000,000 Wii owners did not move over to the Wii U. So let's hope most of the Wii U owners move to the NX. But many won't, so Nintendo needs to attract the old Wii Xbox and PS owners back.
@zool Nothing! Unless NX is more powerful with full 3rd party support and online integration to match. We all know this will never happen.
Actually, i don't think you can look at the Wii to Wii U sales numbers and determine how many will buy the NX. I'd hold off on being a Doomsday Advocate until they announce what this is.
If it has a portable aspect to it, then why not use the portable numbers. That said what if it can pull competition from mobile. I just think it is way to early to speculate.
@zool
Don't be a fool and say the WiiU is nothing but the same, when all games are pretty much the same... You have FPS, PUZZLE, ACTION, RPG, PLATFORMING, RACING, and some that mix and match these Genres...
I just wanted to let you know that I wish posts like this would be accompanied by text information summarizing the video. I unfortunately dont have time to watch videos, much prefer text articles. Just some feedback for ya!
@liveswired sighs
I do agree with Zool that Nintendo have to gain old users back.
