It's time to take a look at the most popular WiiWare titles available on the Wii Shop Channel. If you're feeling adventurous you can even take a look for yourself by simply logging on to your Wii Shop Channel, heading into the WiiWare section and then viewing "Popular Games". It's that easy!
We compile this list using the USA region Wii Shop channel, so if you live elsewhere your list will probably be quite a bit different. Please feel free to post your region's findings below as always.
Keep in mind that the list below is a measure of actual sales made recently, not of the total time the game has been available for sale.
Here is the list for the 22nd of April:
1 - World of Goo
2 - My Aquarium
3 (3) - Tetris Party
4 (4) - My Pokémon Ranch
5 (5) - Onslaught
6 (6) - Dr Mario Online Rx
7 (7) - Cue Sports - Pool Revolution
8 (11) - Defend Your Castle
9 (8) - Brain Challenge

* (N) - Denotes a new entry on the Top 20
It's a complete shock, we know, but the "Big Three" once again remain intact. Goo, fish, and falling blocks reign supreme on the WiiWare service. While My Pokemon Ranch threatened, it hasn't been able to move up past the 4th spot and doesn't look like it's going to at this point.
The big climbers this week were Equilibrio and Bomberman Blast, both of which jumped up four spots to #10 and #16 respectively. Now that Equilibrio has cracked the Top 10, it will be interesting to see how high it can climb. The big dropper this week was Bonsai Barber, which fell five spots to #18. It seems this plant-trimming title might be on its way off the charts soon after an impressive debut last week at #13.
There were no new entries this week and while the Top 20 had a few shifts in position here and there, the games on the Top 20 remain the same from last week. One interesting title to keep an eye on is Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King, as it's still moving its way back up the chart again. Perhaps it will be helped out with the recent release of Square-Enix' Crystal Defenders R1 this week, which also might make an appearance on next week's Top 20.

This is getting slightly boring now with no big titles. I wonder if Bubble Bobble could change the nature of things?
Oh, and my first first in a while!
Yawn
@WLI: I dont think so. PKMN vs Bubble Bobble. PKMN wins for sales.
Hang in there, Bit Trip!

12 Onitore -- Pretty good debut for the Math Challenge Drill Sergeant game
13 (14) Final Fantasy My Life as a King -- Square-Enix's evergreen title keeps on chugging along...
14 (13) Madsecta (Onslaught)
15 (7) Kimi to Boku to Rittai -- Pretty big slide for this one; I hope it has some staying power

You know we really should do a VC version of this as well...
Swedish top 20:
(1) 1 - Bubble Bobble Plus!
(2) 2 - World Of Goo
(3) 3 - Texas Hold'em Tournament
(6) 4 - Equilibrio
(4) 5 - Onslaught
(12) 6 - Bomberman Blast
(7) 7 - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A King
(8) 8 - My Aquarium
(5) 9 - Mega Man 9
(9) 10 - Fun! Fun! Minigolf

(18) 16 - Pop-Up Pirate!
(13) 17 - Family Table Tennis
(17) 18 - Defend Your Castle
(16) 19 - Wild West Guns
(-) 20 - Family & Friends Party
Bubble Bobble retaining, Equilibrio peaking, Bomberman jumping, Mega Man dropping, F&F Party entering and SameGame leaving. Yup, that pretty much sums it up.
Hmm, I wonder if Goo's stay at the top means that we are really just seeing a continuous flood of new WiiWare adopters each week. It seems to be the game that one would likely download first when trying out the Shop Channel, and I feel as if Nintendo is promoting it for this very purpose.
That's likely why we see it on Amazon first as well -- they believe that convincing new users to listen to the buzz about this game and download it will translate into future visits to the Shop Channel.
Germany:
(1) 1 Texas Hold'Em Tournament
(2) 2 My Aquarium
(3) 3 Onslaught
(7) 4 Bubble Bobble Plus!
(4) 5 World Of Goo
(10) 6 Equilibrio
(5) 7 FUN FUN Minigolf
(6) 8 TV Show King
(9) 9 My Pokemon Ranch
(8) 10 Bomberman Blast
(11) 11 Tetris Party
(15) 12 Family & Friends Party
(12) 13 Brain Challenge
(13) 14 Snowboard Riot
(14) 15 Pop-Up Pirate
(20) 16 Midnight Bowling
(18) 17 LostWinds
(16) 18 FFCCMLaaK
(17) 19 Defend Your Castle
(19) 20 SAMEGAME
Despite a bit of shaking no games have entered or left the chart. The games from the last update (Bubble Bobble, Equilibrio, F&F Party) have risen further with Bubble Bobble putting another nail into World of Goo's chart slipping. Whether that is to be attributed to sinking WoG sales or rising sales of other games is anyone's guess.
Charts would fluctuate more if there was more good games on Wiiware, but 2 a week if that is WAYYYYY to little.
I want a VC version too Sean
The VC version is just basically a who's who of Nintendo first-party titles that rarely changes at all. If we've got people yawning at the WiiWare Top 20, the VC Top 20 might actually send people into a coma!
But if you're curious...here you go:
1. Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
2. Super Mario Bros. (NES)
3. Super Mario World (SNES)
4. Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES)
5. Super Punch-Out! (SNES)
6. The Legend of Zelda (NES)
7. Punch-Out! Featuring Mr. Dream (NES)
8. Super Mario 64 (N64)
9. Pac-Man (NES)
10. Mario Kart 64 (N64)
11. Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
12. Donkey Kong Country (SNES)
13. Super Mario RPG (SNES)
14. Donkey Kong (NES)
15. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (MD)
16. Zelda: Link to the Past (SNES)
17. Paper Mario (N64)
18. Excitebike (NES)
19. Galaga (NES)
20. Tecmo Bowl (NES)
I hope Crystal Defenders R1 makes it to the Top 20, I downloaded this on Monday and was very glad that I did.
The VC chart rarely changes, so I don't think we need a seperate chart for the site
But we will be doing a DSiWare Top 20 once we get enough releases on the service down the road.
Hmmm...thinking of something to say about the charts...ah! DYC went up 3 spots! Sweet!
Why is Bit.Trip going down? Everyone seems to like it.
Canada:
1-World of Goo
2-Tetris Party
3-My Aquarium
4-Dr. Mario Online Rx
5-My Pokemon Ranch
6-Equilibrio

9-Brain Challenge
10-Bomberman Blast
11-Defend your Castle

20-Pop'Em Drop'Em SAMEGAME
going forward, I wonder if amazon wiiware sales will be reflected in the top 20 list or if those sales will pull by themselves.
HELLO. UK chart ahoy:
1 (2) - My Aquarium
2 (1) - Texas Hold'em Tournament
3 (3) - World of Goo
4 (6) - Bubble Bobble Plus!
5 (4) - Onslaught
6 (10) - Equilibrio
7 (5) - Pop-Up Pirate!
8 (7) - My Pokemon Ranch
9 (8) - Snowboard Riot
10 (9) - Bomberman Blast
11 (11) - The Incredible Maze
12 (12) - Defend Your Castle
13 (13) - TV Show King
14 (14) - FUN! FUN! Minigolf
15 (15) - Tetris Party
16 (N) - Family & Friends Party
17 (18) - CueSports - Snooker vs. Billiards
18 (16) - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A King
19 (19) - Brain Challenge
20 (20) - Space Invaders Get Even
Bubble Bobble and Equilibrio are proving to be pretty popular. Unfortunately Family & Friends Party has also wormed its way into the chart at the cost of a much better game: LostWinds.
"The VC chart rarely changes, so I don't think we need a seperate chart for the site"
The WiiWare chart never changes either. Each week these lists are becoming more and more pointless.
why isnt onslaught higher
But we will be doing a DSiWare Top 20 once we get enough releases on the service down the road.
Wait, does the DSiWare shop even have an option to sort by popularity?
The WiiWare chart never changes either. Each week these lists are becoming more and more pointless.
It does change, new games go in there and sometimes older ones get revitalized (like My Pokemon Ranch). Also it lets us estimate how the titles we brush off as garbage are received by the public at large and shows the preferences of other countries.
Wait, does the DSiWare shop even have an option to sort by popularity?
We're assuming that over time when there are more releases, that there might be a way to sort by popularity. But that's not a given.
Well the Japanese chart mixes it up a bit more probably because the PC Engine is in there (bow down before the mighty PC Engine -- more games than ANY OTHER SYSTEM in the Japanese VC, so even Nintendo knows it kicks the Famicom's ass!).
I'll have to see if it changes much, though; I suspect it does...

Actually, if you wanna see things changing you should keep a closer eye on the other charts on this site. I find the German especially fun cause they seem to have really crappy tastes. I really think our charts outta be appreciated more. They're much more fun than the US one.
I'd like to see nintendolife give what they think the top 20 shoudl be for wiiware and vc.
