Rovio has finally announced Angry Birds Trilogy for 3DS, on the way in 2012.
The retail release combines the first three Angry Birds games — Angry Birds, Rio and Seasons — on one cartridge with new StreetPass features. Sadly the gravity-based Angry Birds Space doesn't feature, but three games in one isn't too bad.
We haven't got much in the way of 3DS-specific details at the moment but Rovio promises new content and updated graphics. With the game on the way before Christmas, we won't have to wait too long to learn more.

Yay! Can't wait!
Seasons is the Free App of the Week on the iOS store.
Also, this is good to see. Wonder if it will be digital too.
This is retail? This should be an eshop game! This is a rip-off, especially if its not budget price.
You don't even know how much it costs and you're calling it a rip off?
Really?
They won't make it $40. They just couldn't. (although they probably will)
But space is awesome.
I was hoping it would be an e-shop game too, but I'm glad they included seasons because I like the Halloween levels.
Bleh.
And retail... really?
This should stay as a free game on mobile devices.
It's not really good enough to warrant paying money for.
But hey, neither was Fun! Fun! Minigolf TOUCH! and that never stopped that game from making its way to the system.
I'll pass as that'd look hideous on my shelf amongst my other awesome 3DS titles.
If anyone who doesn't have a smart phone wants to play the game for an excessive price then that's good for them I guess.
I have been Waiting for this FOREVER
I cannot for the life of me see how these games will benefit in any way from being on 3DS, but whatever.
Space is a big loss.
Time to show it's better on the 3DS like Miyamoto said.
This just comes to show that Rovio is a bunch of hypocrites
@Aviator Even at budget price, it would still probably be £20 which is ripping people off when you can get it for much less on other devices.
Wait...cartridge? Retail? For Angry Birds?
I can see this selling well with clueless young children that don't realise that there's a ton of much higher quality games on the system.
@BenAV if it isn't worth paying money for why have millions of iOS, Android, Mac, PC, PS3 etc. users bought it?
Just like PvZ. They better give the option for download....
Not buying
@Aviator I guess people like wasting money.
@Aviator: the price here for all 3 games on the App Store comes to less than £5. So, there's an argument that it's worth paying money for, but not an argument that it's worth paying a lot of money for.
Updated graphics or not, who here wants to shell out £15 or more for it (no 3DS games have launched cheaper than this, to my recollection)? I Thought so...
Let's see... I have the 3DS, a dedicated video game console... I can get Paper Mario Sticker Star, or Angry Birds... it's such a tough choice!
No really this sounds dumb...
Ok this is a stupid move and with activision publishing it I can't see it being a budget game but to be far this is less stupid then them bring the game to consoles. :/
If it's digital, I'll buy.
I downloaded Angry Birds free onto my droid phone. I then quickly deleted it cuz it wasn't nearly as epic as Bird Mania 3D
@Aviator
Thanks for the heads up that seasons is free this week. Did not know that, downloading now
Nice Stuff! But the thing is, I and I'd imagine most people already own these games on their smartphones. So maybe I will have to give it a miss
Yeah, they're definitely cheaping out on us. I mean, I won't be buying this, anyway, since I have them all on my phone. But Space is the best of the bunch... if not, it's at least equal with the first. Rio is by far the worst and feels like more of an Angry Birds knock-off than an actual Angry Birds game. The physics aren't as reliable, the necessary hit zones for the higher scores are far too specific and instead of the ball-shaped pigs, the game uses monkeys that actively try (and often succeed) to regain their balance after they or their platforms have been hit.
The 4 games together WITH exclusive content would have made this decent. 3 without one of the best ones... this honestly won't be worth much.
@Aviator
It's free on Android and PC that's probably partly why it's so popular, at least that's the reason I bothered to download it.
Will only buy it if it hits the eShop.
I wonder if they'll update the game to add new levels like they do on the iOS versions.
Will this be a retail in which we can buy it on the eShop like NSMB2?
A 1st-person p.o.v. mode in 3D would be pretty rad. Otherwise, no thanks. Still a fascinating development. Bet it sells oodles. The AB brand is huuuuge.
Now to see if the creators are right or not, by saying who would but a $40 piece of plastic?
@BenAV Something tells me that Ninty wouldn't allow Rovio to pump the game full of game destroying adverts inorder to keep the game free as they do for the iPhone and Android markets. Unfortunately companies rarely release games out of the kindness of their hearts alone.
Retail..? Who would buy this as a retail game? It's a simple flash game, there's a reason they can sell it as cheap as they do on the IOS store.
Good for people who want dirty Angry Birds on their 3DS.
Who likes Angry Birds? Just Curious. Even though Space was excellent, the others were garbage...
Needs to be eShop game
So they now go on the "$49 Pieces of Plastic" when they should have put this on eShop... — https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2011/03/angry_birds_dev_calls_nintendo_games_usd49_pieces_of_plastic — I'll probably pass... I like those game on my Android but even on iOS if we buy them they are 4$ for all of them...
awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i still dont understand what's up with all this angry birds hype. never played that stuff. not interested at all
.
What a COMPLETE rip off these games are on 3DS they are 69p 99c each for the iphone version which is the most similiar to the 3DS screen size etc and they are all under 20mb each, RIDICULOUS i say should be eshop for sure.
What a hilarious and incomprehensible move on Rovio's part.
I'm sorry, but no one's going to pay $20-$40 for Angry Birds, even if it has 3 games.
They would have been better off releasing each game individually on eShop for $1.99 each (same price as Bird Mania 3D), or release them together on eShop for $4.99 or $5.99 (this is more than I'd pay for it, but it'd still be better for them than what they're currently planning).
It's a pity Space isn't included. I enjoyed that a lot more than the original!
It'll be interesting to see what they charge for it, though, given that smartphones are so prevalent these days where it can be bought very cheaply (or free, on Android).
On eShop, I'd be all over this. Hell, I'd be all over it on eShop if it were just one of the three. But retail? It's at least £20 for games with an iOS/Android total price tag of well under £5. I'll pass.
Publisher: Activision
Ah. That explains it.
I wouldn't pay for this anyway, I can play it for free on Google Chrome and even then it's absolute junk... so, no thanks.
If it was digital? Maybe. Retail? Definitely not!
Angry birds? Retail? For the 3DS? I swear you could just download the free app on Google Chrome or any kind of smartphone/tablet. There is no need. Also, leaving out Space is not really a good idea.
Retail? Over 500,000,000 Angry Birds have been sold, and yet they put this to retail?
The only one that was fun at all was Space, And It's not even on the cart?
... I'm going to avoid this like the plague.
Wait... Why is this not going on Wii u?
i'm certain angry birds was supposed to be coming to eshop as a free download? (puzzled expression)
Perhaps they'll be making some 3DS specific modifications? Obviously Rovio will be adding 3D into the mix so that the 3DS' prime gimmick doesn't go to waste - but that about a 3DS specific modes, challenges & even a "birds eye" POV?
I must admit I do like Andry Birds as the perfectionist in me loves to collect the stars... but unless something pretty AMAZING is added into the mix, I can't see myself repurchasing the same games over again.
One of James' last articles(sigh). DON'T FORGET PHRASE 2!
A 3ds exclusive Sonic game!
(If you don't know what I'm talking about, read the warp zone article)
Each game cost 0,99 cents in iphone so why 3ds owners have to pay more than three euro? Anything more than this is a rip-off. Also the 3ds version will be slightly inferior cause of the controls. Angry Birds is a showcase for multitouch controls. The stylus is less accurate than the finger. Cases like this just proves that "hardcore" gaming consoles are milking their customers.
Retail? And no Angry Birds Space? What is this?
Angry Birds. I don't see what everyone loves about it. Its pretty stupid.
How's that crow taste Rovio?
What the hell no. No. A thousand freaking times no.
We don't need this garbage on retail.
And the fact that this is probably going to sell better than Crush3D and Bit. Trip Saga is saddening.
Wait.. Retail?
wtf?
Make it $20 & on the eShop as a retail download, and this could be very successful. Perhaps a bit too much, but it's 3 games after all. Or they could go even lower: $15.
you may not know but it´s coming to ps3 and xbox360 too...so let´s see what for prices they will have...
Interesting to see the prices. Don't think they can match iOS for cheapness. Therefore always think it isn't a good idea to do ports from over there. Shame the didn't include Space as well as it'd be an insta-buy
Lol. The games really suxk and I played them lol. But this is so delusionask. I am waiting to see Rovio developing Angry Birds Tennis Angry Birds Golf etc. They convinced people that its dome sort if revelation. Retail for 3 free games that could cost O.99 cents each
Amazing.
I'll get it if it's between $10 and $15 and is also a retail download.
Truth is even if it was free even if it was s new model - they pay me - I wouldn't taint my 3ds with it.
If it's more than $10 than count me out!
SPAAAAAAACE~!
In all seriousness, I am excited for this.
I feel as if something like this would be better off on the eShop. I definitely won't be purchasing this, seeing as I already have all 4 games on my Droid and I never really liked those games anyway. (except for Space. If they had Space in it then maybe I would have considered purchasing it.)
I have been wanting to try out Angry Birds Space but since this will not include that I will likely pass on this. I do hope that there will be a demo for this because I would like to see what the 3D effect adds to the game.
Genuinely shocked.
It better be like the Cave Story Remake, if not, I find it atrocious to pay more than $10 on the retail, it should be eShop Material!
Finally been waiting for this game to come out on the 3DS.
I am glad that Activision is publishing this. That means I will not get it. I would rather get an Iphone to play it in its original format for a reasonable price and without giving a single penny to those greedy jerks.
This trilogy is also coming to 360 and PS3...
Hate Angry Birds I don't get the hype around a game you play for five minutes and forget about, so I am not interested, still it will be interesting to see were the price goes.
So is this going to be a $40 piece of plastic?
Yeah, I thought that arrogant clown of a president for the company said that Nintendo sells $40 pieces of plastic!
This.
http://mynintendonews.com/2011/03/30/nintendo-3ds-angry-birds-developer-calls-nintendo-games-49-pieces-of-plastic/
Angry Birds is stupid, I can't believe people play this crap.
@FonistofCruxis Don't buy it. It's simple as that. Of course it has to be more on a console or handheld. They are putting more stuff into it and Angry Birds is a great game worth more than 99 cents. You get 3 games plus new content!
@MR_SUPREME69 Angry Birds is stupid because they insult Nintendo? Why don't you play it first, pal?
I so can't wait for this to outsell Zelda.
1- Put it on Eshop
2- Sell it for no more than $ 1.99
and I may actually get it..
Outsell Zelda? Lol. I can't wait for m&Ms to outsell Fillet Mignons.
Those are expensive M&Ms if you're buying them for the same price as Fillet Mignons.
These are fillet sized M&Ms filled with truffles.
If angry birds sell for the same price as Zelda it will have zero sales. All angry birds including Space were free for android..for a reason. Zelda... even the GBC game is expensive on 3ds and still a top seller. So yeah makes a lot of sense.
Oh, for crying out...
@SanderEvers In what universe is 30 euro (10 times more) a good price for the exact same games that cost less than 3 euro (3x0,99cents) in iphone?
omg this is AWESOME
Angry Birds is a great, great game but it is free on Android. I've not finished it yet, so I've not moved onto the other ones, so don't know if they're free or not but I doubt they're cartridge priced. And why not the 4th game? I guess this release is strictly for the money
I have an Android phone and have all these games already, and so should you because:
Angry Birds - Free
Angry Birds Rio - Free
Angry Birds Seasons - Free
I can't see ANYBODY with any sense buying this. (because it's free)
ps
Angry Birds Space - Free
£20-£40 worth of free games, just how I like it.
Angry Birds Space is already on my Android phone, as it's free - so no loss for me, there. If Rovio is serious about this new content and updates thing on the trilogy, and it makes exceptional use of gameplay mechanics, and they don't overblow the price, then I'll keep this on my radar.
If not, I'll just download all three free on my phone.
But honestly, I really only think this release is for those who unfortunately do not own smartphones. It makes no sense, because I can get all three of these games for free on my phone. This release is just akin to Cave Story 3D, if you ask me.
Well worth my money it seems.
i will get it only if it comes as a retail download.
yeah, it will have a revamp like they said, yes i have absolutely no doubts i will enjoy it at its fullest.
But itd Ios based. making it too pricey would be a FAIL. Geez, theyre freaking free on your smarthphones. theyre free everywhere, all over the place.
screw retail production, make it digital only. i wouldnt mind paying it on my 3DS, but certainly not 40$ for a physical copy. too pricey at first, and also for the sake of not being ripped off because everyone else get it free.
same thing happenend with cave story 3D. no doubt its great. but its FREE on pc. (still bought it on eshop, the closest to the original version. also got vvvvv which is FREE on pc. FREE FREE FREE)
i understand there are development costs and people to pay to make a port. but there is no excuse to overprice what is originally free.
They should release it for the Wii U. It's ideal. Touch screen and option to play it on 40" TV or on the Gamepad.
@LollipopChoSaw
Out sell Zelda? I guess it's true games don't have to be good or creative in order to sell, especially since I doubt four swords got as many DL as it should've and that was free
I can't stand Angry Birds, but even if I did, I wouldn't get this, especially when they said something like this: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2011/03/angry_birds_dev_calls_nintendo_games_usd49_pieces_of_plastic
This should be on eShop and less than $10... Why would i pay for some games i already have on my iPod for free?
I'm not sold on it just yet. I have all the Angry Birds on my iPod4g.
Bargain.
