Re: Review: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - An Epic, Emotionally-Charged Masterpiece

Varathius

@RiasGremory I must say, when I started XC2 I hated it, but mainly because of the kiddish like protagonist, and I did put down the game for approx. 1 year. When I played it again a year later, I made the effort to try and force myself to like it. About 2 hrs later into the game, I did not have to force myself anymore because I flat out loved it. To this day I think of myself as a fool for having waited one year. What made this game shine I think was the addition of the Torna DLC. I still loved XCX the most tho because I liked the fact that there was a main base and that I was part of a community rather than part of a small team. Still, you are right, XC2 was a really good game and people should not judge it because of the kiddish like protagonist.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Xenoblade Chronicles 3 On Switch

Varathius

@Astral-Grain From all XC games (incl. Xenogears etc for PSX), I kind of liked XCX the most in terms of all being excellent. XC and XC2 to me where both 9.5/10 games, where XCX was a 10/10 because in that game I felt like being my own man, deciding my own fate where the other two games you are put into a role which is amazing too, but I just love games where you have a feeling of still being somewhat you in the game ha, if that makes sense?
I am dying to see a port too but from what I hear it is complicated as heck because of the size of the game and whatnot. It might most likely never happen.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo To End Submissions For New Wii U And 3DS eShop Games

Varathius

I am a bit disappointed in Nintendo regarding the 3DS. So, they make the “New 3DS” with promises of games only supported by the New 3DS. So they made 1 or 2 games. I forgot if MajorasMask was for new, but XC was the only title I knew for the New 3DS.
Then we have the Switch which was great but it is not a perfect handheld. Most the bigger games cannot be plaid handheld (good luck finding small items in Skyrim for quest progression for instance), or SkywardSword, I mean, many eye straining experiences there. Games were made to be plaid on a TV but some games like Animal Crossing, Links Awakening were perfectly made for handheld but they are not the majority (I am talking about big titles).
It seems the 3DS is now on its final stretch towards the end. What a shame. It is a perfect handheld (except putting powercord jack on lower side of device so loading cable sticks in your tummy when you play in bed). I just downloaded Oracle of Seasons and Ages yesterday, a game not ideal for a Switch but perfect on the 3DS.
The sec the Switch was out the 3DS got basically nearly ignored, not good, the Switch should not have meant to be replacing the 3DS….
So many Virtual Console games out there, no wonder like this Nintendo will lose the battle for Retro Gaming which is extremely popular and becoming more popular each day, but yeah, let’s quit now.
Way to go Nintendo….

Re: EA Won't Entirely Rule Out Star Wars Battlefront II Coming To Switch

Varathius

@WiltonRoots Where else would it be? It is gamewise a repetitive and linear boring level grind, which I did plenty of in SWBF1, but if I have to do it all over again, at least I want the graphics to be beautiful. Playing this on 4K on my 34" screen vs playing it over the Switch? Would be obvious on what platform I would play such a boring repetitive game, I would obviously pick a platform where graphics would look amazing, but this (as I mentioned before in original post) is not a deciding factor when playing fun video games, which is why I have a Switch and 3DS too. But in this game, I see no reason why getting it on Switch if you can play it on PC and other consoles.

Re: EA Won't Entirely Rule Out Star Wars Battlefront II Coming To Switch

Varathius

This game will be crap on switch. One of its major strengths are the graphics. I am not a fan over graphics emphasized games but with SWBF1 + 2 it is a major plus point why to get this game. A Switch has clear graphics deficiencies when compared to PC and other consoles so playing an otherwise repetitive and linear game with crap graphics included if there are much better versions available elsewhere, would simply ruin the gaming experience for me completely.

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch: Nintendo's Most Important Console Yet

Varathius

I am with gamespot on this, no idea why people rate consoles...For instance, the new PS4 pro I would rate a 5 I guess, why? Because that thing is huge and loud if you play high-end games, really loud, louder than Wii-U with CD playing high-end game, but other people would not care about this and rate it a 10, thus the reason it makes no sense to grade consoles. Games however is another story because if done wisely and logically, good non-bias scores are very important to know because it is the games that decide whether a console is bought, and not the console (unless we're dealing with fanboys).

Re: Guide: Essential Nintendo Switch Accessories

Varathius

No offence to you English chaps but man, do you guys have horrible plugs/AC adapters...holy crap!!!! How much wall space do you need (or ground) to plug in several cables? Regular EU or US plugs and a/c adapters take up like 1/3 of the space that yours does....

Re: GAME In-Store Advertising Indicates March 2017 Release For Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

Varathius

Everytime I read something regarding GAME I just have to comment how horrible that company is...lol. They are Worldwide Number 1 in: Taking way too many pre-orders, and you cannot play on day 1 and if you try for a reimbursement, they do not answer, nothing and you eventually end up getting the game 2-3 weeks later. What did we learn? Not to pre-order? Wrong, I pre-order on Amazon all the time as I am charged upon when they send it out and never had an issue, but GAME, that is a whole other story...

Re: Poll: Retro Delights and Stock Shortages - What Are Your Thoughts on the NES Mini Launch?

Varathius

@MegaMari0 Good point, but still, millenials are raised in a way where they are the center of it all, so it is unacceptable as to why Nintendo is short on stock, because they did not get this system when they wanted it. Thus, this is my point regarding millenials. My generation has its downs, but at least we are patient, can wait, and take it easy under such circumstances. Our patience ends quicker with other things (with incompetent people in particular), but no idea why so many see this as a bad thing.

Re: Poll: Will You Still Be Playing Pokémon GO at the End of 2016?

Varathius

Went up to lvl 6, then this crap stopped recording my steps and eggs would not hatch. Restarted, waited, for several days. Like 1/10 x it worked. I walk my dog 10-12km each day and it took me basically 3 days (30+ KM) to finally hatch an egg that needed 2km. The app is on, I even hold it in my hand, it would not count steps. So I delete in hopes it is stored in cloud (my info), of course it is not, re-install, all pokemons gone, so deleted this app. Too buggy, battery draining, and no cloud storage.

Re: Niantic Reveals What's Next For Pokémon GO

Varathius

I wanted the ability where POIs are saved (first visit to one) on an external map, so we can always see the places I visited. I was on an island in Croatia, tiny island (60 inhabitants) and it had 2 POIs here, wish it would save them.

Re: Pokémon GO Cyclists Aren't Thrilled About Being Penalised By Speed Limit

Varathius

typical generation of gamers of today....get to max level as fast as possible no matter what.... pour souls. I am in Croatia on holidays, while I waited 2 hrs for my wife to get her hair etc ready, I downloaded this app and walked around the old village. I discovered a 700 year old tomb, no other tourists, nothing, it was half a mile away....sure, I caught the Pokemon on the way there, was fun, then I got the three Pokeballs, and spent 20 mins exploring the tomb. Today I used it again for like 15 mins, caught another one, and an egg. I walked around anyway to explore the city without playing pokemon go, the egg is now almost hatched. Having a blast the few times I use it. However, people that need cars, bicycles, etc to find Pokemons? That's just sad...

Re: Reaction: Key Early Lessons We Learned About The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Varathius

"Nintendo is stating that the E3 demo area is barely 2% of the game; whether that's entirely accurate or not, it's clear that this is a title with sensational depth."
Some advice here. Japanese people are all but liars, in fact, making a statement like this, would be considered highly insulting there. If they say it is 2%, it is 2%.
Either way, I am looking forward for this game!

Re: Soapbox: Why Websites Don’t Need to Give a Game a Review Score (and Probably Shouldn’t)

Varathius

the problem is that the generation of today is more spoiled and less educated, thus in their mind they always associate the cost of a game with what they think it should be scored. For instance, "If I pay 60 bucks for this it better be at least a 9 on gamespot and IGN!!!!" and then it is a 7.8 and they rage about it...because they always wanted the game but will not buy it now because it scored a 7.8 thus it is not worth their money....
What this generation forgets is that 7.8 is considered a good, very good game in the days of the old. Then again, today's games have changed. Amazing graphics and still slow internet access as well as limited SSD memory for the price it costs, in most parts have forced devs to create a repetitive grinding gameplay, otherwise bananas would be way too big, and the only thing that pisses me off, is when repetitive games on tiny banana maps with beautiful graphics get a score above a 6. This will fall under CONTENT, so BF, COD, etc has basically not much content. Then however, people invented the achievements bananas, which in most games replaces content and apparently keeps the players happy...

Re: Feature: A Summary of Nintendo's Key Announcements on NX, E3 and Mobile

Varathius

I am sick and tired of you Nintendo fanboys giving Nintendo crap about the E3...Nintendo is your father, treat them with respect. Seriously, calm down....Remember, Nintendo is dying since 1889 TM, and at this rate, and once we are nothing but ashes or carbon that was absorbed by the earth, Nintendo will be everywhere, in every household, in every brain, in every neural implant, everywhere.... so think about this. All you will do is close your eyes and choose a game that has already been pre-loaded to your brain.
