It amazes me how Nintendo go after emulation sites but will let this slide. The Famiclone has been around forever but it's usually a low key affair made in small numbers. This is trading on everything Nintendo owns, from the Gameboy Advance casing to Nes games without which would make the machine worthless. I'm not sure NL should be promoting it.
Strange that they did better last year by bringing out some big titles on the console. They pretty much brought out zip to the end on August and there's a drop in like for like sales.
I'd love an Assassin's Creed Collection on the Switch btw.
I got the family plan as we have two consoles. The service is pretty underwhelming and could either to with access to a game from previous each gen per month or some solid indie games thrown in. Maybe sort out party's for friends too.
Huge missed opportunity. The Switch is crying out for an official dpad solution. Nintendo limiting this has cost them two purchases, the Nes and Famicom versions. How difficult would it if been to throw in some shoulder buttons and an X and y? Or programmed the pads to work on any games that just used a and b.
@DreamerDC Shenmue 3 was on Kickstarter (Annouced at the 2015 E3 Sony press conference) long before the Shenmue HD Remakes were announced. I fact the $6+ million dollar funding that YSNet got Sega to realise there was a market for getting the orginals onto the PS4/XboxOne, Im sure the Switch could easily run the Shenmue 1+2 HD also.
It's $20 a year, I'm expecting very little extra than already announced. Personally some chat and voice chat functionality would be great between friends. Fingers crossed it's more than just NES games. GameCube games should play great on the Switch.
My take is that I've completed far more games with achievements than I did the generation before. I'd prefer Nintendo to have them but they needed implementing from the start.
The main reason it's on 3DS and not WiiU will be down to sales. Technically the WiiU port should be straight forward as the games isn't demanding and would be a good fit for the controller but it's essentially a dead system that's been dropped by Nintendo. I'm sure Nintendo still pay Indies based on hiting specific targets rather than just individual sales. I'm pleased it's made it to the 3ds aswell as the Switch.
I'm supprised they've not coded it to cater for the World and Japanese versions. Complaining about Capcom about exploiting Street Fighter 2 is like complaining about paying Tax... It's always happened and always will. This compilation is more than a little generous from Capcom though.
@Moon Nintendo has included firmware updates in the past on key games. I wouldn't be supprised if Mario Oddesey wasn't packing v4 firmware on the cartridge.
Positives - it's a proper Switch version. Decent local multiplayer options and the definitive handheld version.
Negatives - we've got the legacy edition. Every lesser system gets it. It is EA isn't it.
Online - the Switch online is still underwhelming. Lots of online features we've had since the mid 2000's still arent on the system. This is something Nintendo rather than 3rd parties need to address.
Just picked one up. Quality seems to be Hori's usual high standard. Pretty sure it will work on the Nes Mini too. SF2 is a great test of joypad quality and it will get tested on my Twitch stream tonight.
@EmirParkreiner that's a great call. Most bundles are just a cardboard box over existing units, I can imagine them holding back hardware units ready for a huge 3rd party game release. Splatoon 2 has sold 1m units in Japan in 6 weeks plus driven Switch sales. One bad week doesn't equal failure 😁.
I got one from Game but returned it unused. The dpad was lovely but no HD rumble or motion control was a huge negative, as was the USB cable. The Switch isn't heavy like a PS4 so tripping on it could be terminal. I got another pro controller but also a 8bitdo Bluetooth adaptor to I could tether pretty much anything to the Switch.
I've really enjoyed it, I have to admit I've played it quite a bit before first on PlayStation 1/2 and the Neo Geo Mvs. An online leader board for a single credit for each difficulty setting would be lovely!
Telltale games work well on both consoles and handhelds, it should be easy enough on the Switch without too much technical issues. They just need to miss out on the "switch" tax some digital content seems to have.
Plenty of Snes minis are on eBay with delivery dates in july to adhere to EBay terms and conditions. Who pays £200 for something that may or may not turn up? Nintendo can mitigate most of the scalpers by making sure they make enough!
Rocket League on the go is a big draw. It will be interesting to see how the matchmaking works on a 4G connection. Psyonix seem to be another developer who have found porting games to the Switch straightforward which is a big plus. Day one purchase for me too.
It would probably take a day or two to port to the Switch. It's not like ny of the titles will be tasking on the hardware. With the Switch making great strides in Japan Megaman on the go is surely a winning combo.
Wow so many comments. Capcom tweak the PSP port or Powerstone and Id buy it straight away. A great 4 player game that would translate well to the Switch. As for the article, what publisher wouldn't look how it's first release on a new platform?
I think its good that Microsoft and Mojang gor the game out so quickly. The game benefits from running well at 60fps with a good draw distance. Blocks @ 1080p is hardly a necessity.
The Hyperkin consoles I have all lack build quality. The Retron 3 controllers were rubbish, compatibility was okish. The Retron5 arrived late, expensive, with really poor ergonomic controllers, it couldn't play flash carts, had an block on playing roms and my Md/Genesis cart slot failed. Not to mention the unlicensed software. This is being released on the back of the Nes mini. I hope they put the required care and attention to the console.
This is when Nintendo misses the point, a cheap spare dock set ends up in a travel bag - so the Switch gets taken to non-switch owning friends. Meaning they potentially buy a console. In reality though it will be £69.99 in the UK, rare as rocking horse doo doo and scalpers will be selling it for £120+
Looks good. Free DLC should be the future. If you've bought a game electronically or retail release (not necessarily pre-owned) your supporting the developers directly. I might pick this up.
I preordered it really early and it's currently going to cost £30. Double dipping isn't really an issue for me, it's a really good game that I can additionally play as a handheld or in table mode, with all the dlc, graphic improvements and kid/non-gamer friendly options. Please ship it early amazon!

Outrun 2/SP would be a welcome addition for me. It ran great on the PSP so why not the Switch? Oh and what about Revenge of Shinobi?
