The BAFTA-winning Overcooked will launch on the Switch this week, it has been confirmed.
Overcooked: Special Edition includes the original game plus The Lost Morsel and Festive Seasoning additional content, as well as special support for the Switch's HD Rumble functionality.
2 to 4 player co-op is available thanks to the wonder of the Joy-Cons, and it's also possible to play against other carbon-based lifeforms in 9 special versus levels.

What's with revealing release dates immediately before launch? Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to play this, but hearing about games being released mere days before it happens has been kind of a jolt to my wallet.
Yes! Having a dinner party on Friday and we love to play games afterwards, this will be perfect!
@thesilverbrick That's probably all the advance warning that these eShop publishers get from Nintendo, to be honest.
in before "oh another late port, basketball is only popular in America, gimped ports, scamiibo, Wii U definitive version" blah blah blah. Great game, and at a cheaper price than the PS4 version (where the DLC is not included, but is on sale at the moment).
@Damo Nintendo springs release dates on developers?
great, fair prices, looking forward to it ... but there is a real challenge to Nintendo here - its currently on PSN UK sale for 9 GBP (with the DLC) - almost double the price for Switch version.
Not sure what they can do ... I don't expect the Sony sale price as its launched. But I don't feel like spending such a lot more, when I can get it and play it on PS4. Ultimately, I'll wait for a Switch sale in six months I guess ...
Yay... !!
The first PS4 games that I will jump from PS4 to Switch.
1 game has been cut, 6 PS4 games to be cut next.
I will keep the PS4 physical retail as a Guarantee.
I will play mostly on Switch version.
Hah..! Take that, ps4 !
Hopefully a retail version in the future.
@Damo I never thought of it that way. You're probably right. Nintendo has been super cagey with their eShop.
Will check the reviews. This might be fun to play with my girlfriend.
@Kalmaro Most likely conjecture. Man, can't we stop bashing Nintendo even when a game is coming much sooner than expected.
Honestly people, be joyous, this is great news.
Better not mess up those orders if you're ever playing this game with Gordon Ramsay...
...yikes!
(Looks super fun - can't wait! Day 1 for me! )
@Kalmaro games have to be submitted to Nintendo for approval before release. Most small devs aren't gonna commit to a release date and risk having the game kicked back by Nintendo for fixes before it's approved, causing them to miss their date. When the dev gets word from Nintendo that the game is approved, they can either release it, which gives us these short notice release dates, or hold it back for no other reason than to give advance notice of the release date. Its not so much Nintendo springing a release date on them as devs wanting to release as soon as possible after getting approval.
@Kalmaro Devs don't get to choose the exact date they release a game on. Nintendo has final say.
@Folkloner It's not conjecture at all; we've spoken to developers about the process.
@Damo @daveh30 Thanks for the info guys, I think I understand better now.
I'm going to get this, but it's probably going to have to wait since I've purchased quite a few things lately. At the least probably will have to wait til next payday. Anyone know does like the PS version and stuff have a player multiplayer online or is it just local co-op?
Love food, love Switch. This is the perfect sandwich! See what I did!
i will get it on a discount.
Was gonna lay low on purchasing as I've got other monetary obligations for the next few months, but doggonit, Overcooked is a blast on Steam, so I'll gladly double dip for the HD rumble and included Lost Morsel DLC.
It's a great game, played it on PS4, although I sold it, so I'd maybe consider repurchasing, just because how great the Switch is for multiplayer gaming (& duh portability)
I'll hold out for a retail release.
Pretty, pretty please?
was thinking about getting this on ps4 but I'll wait to get it on Switch. I need a Switch first though.
Why are we bashing on Sliggy. He's not even here. Lay off of him please. At least until he shows up, then have at it.
I have absolutely no reason to buy this game. Played it to death on PC and all DLC. 4 player local co-op was among the most fun I've ever had with a local co-op game. And yet... for some reason, I think I'm going to buy this even though I have no immediate plans to play it again.
@sillygostly
Same.
Me too.
Wish for retail version of Overcooked Nintendo Switch.
I will gleefully jump from ps4 version to Switch version for that game.
Have this on PS4 and it's fantastic, I'm tempted to double dip but at this rate I will be for a lot of games 😃
Better get on the blower with Gordon Ramsay for a multiplayer let's play.
Along with Retro City rampage, Beach Buggy racing and the soccer game from Hamster, this Thursday looks like it's shaping up nicely. Will see!
This is the only game I currently own on my PS4 account.
I'm excited to get it again.
Co-op is always the best way to play!
Always wanted to get this game. Definitely will be getting it now. The Switch seems perfect for this kinda game.
This is really a good release. I'm really interested in Stardew Valley. Its release was planned for summer. Any news about it?
Hope it doesn't get delayed. As Gordon Ramsey says "...if it's brown it's cooked, if it's black it's f-" ye, you get the gist.
Oh yeah I am definitely getting this! The teaser footage got me hooked. Would make for a nice party game.
Great on XBOX, but double dipping as my Switch is my 4p system now.
Definitely getting it the first day
If I didn't already own it on PS4, I'd get it. But at 20 bucks, it's too much to double dip
Does this game have any online play or is it all local?
Ouch!! the price though...
@AlexOlney I would pay good money to see that!
This looks pretty fun id be happy to pay for this
@joey302 Namco Museum, Infinite Minigolf, and Ultra Hyperball also launch this week I believe. Not to mention Fate/Extella tomorrow even though it was on last week's list.
Pretty damn solid week considering Splatoon 2 just launched
@IceClimbers right holy cow forgot about those! Especially since I'm waiting on the Museum!! So now if all those hit too it'll be a great week for the Switch- Which is good cause last week was lousy! Lol
@slatanek Really? £15.99 for a full, BAFTA award winning game - with both of its expansions bundled in - seems pretty reasonable to me...
Damn I'm tucking in big time baby.
Been waiting for this for months.
Wonderful news!!! This is one of the Nindies I've been most eagerly awaiting, so I'll be picking it up at launch.
Getting it! One of the only games my wife will play with me. Lol. Plus it is in fact, super fun!
This sounds like the perfect game to play when my brother comes to my house! My wallet is feeling the pain already!
Never heard of this game...you guys sound excited! Hopefully there's a demo.
@Fooligan well it was a preemptive strike considering every other article today has been graced with his presence and I felt like I had my fill for the day.
Might get if they ever offer discounts. But more than likely a pass
Looks nice, but i hate it when i have to haste that much in a game. Don't like rushing too much
Super fun on the xb1 but has major performance issues. I hope this port doesnt suffer the same fate.
This looks super fun! Itll be another good local multiplayer game for me need more of those
I''m going to be picking this up. I've been wanting this game for a while, but haven't gotten it because I can't afford 4 Steam controllers to play with my siblings. Now that it's on the switch, I'll definitely be getting it
...Is that a snowman?
What's with the 2 second trailer? Off to YouTube to see what this plays like.
I like surprise releases.
Definitely picking this one up.
Great game. Got this on Xbox One recently after seeing it on Go 8 Bit on Dave. Was hoping to get it on Switch but as I didn't know the release date at the time and was on sale on Xbox had to dip in early.
My wife and I have a blast playing it, and plenty of shouting matches over it it's hilarious and frustrating all at the same time. Best played multiplayer though.
Completed it just the other day now playing the couple of expansion packs.
Buy it if you haven't already.
I've been looking forward to this game. I didn't really need another game right now since Splatoon 2 was just released but I want to play Overcooked as soon as I can so I guess it's time to spend another 20€.
The Switch is a perfect console for 4 player Overcooked. After seeing Cave Story + at £26 I think £16 Including dlc is a good price.
@gortsi 😂😂😂
@MonkiPlays just buy a couple of 8bitdo controllers half the price
