Re: Get Up To 75% Off Switch Games In Humble Games' Publisher Sale

Tiefseemiez

I have Slay the Spire on PC an played a lot and liked it a lot.
It becomes repetative though if you play it that much, but certainly has great mechanics and is a game I will most likely come back again in between other games.

I really loved Wandersong - it was a heartwarming game I recommend to everyone it appeals the slighest too (even though I get that the artstyle and gameplay might not be for everyone). It is rather easy but has a whole lot of personality and is really relaxing to play.

I might be getting A Hat in Time this time around. I'm not really a platformer-person, but loved Super Mario Odyssey so maybe 3D-Platformers are indeed for me!

Also I'm interested in Ring of Pain, Forager and One Step from Eden.

Re: Figment: Creed Valley Will Bring More Musical Madness To Switch This Fall

Tiefseemiez

I really liked the first one, so I am happy it gets a sequel. The trailer doesn't really spark my interest though. I loved the idea, the charm and the style of the first one. The puzzles were also good and the game was just short enough to keep my interest the whole time. What really made it special for me though were the musical boss themes - they were so hilarious and made the boss fights special. You almost wished for them to last longer so you could listen to their songs.
Though the song in this trailer doesn't really appeal to me I am confident the second game will be at least just as good as the first one.

I recommend anyone to watch the trailer for the first game to get an idea how creative the worlds are designed:

Also listen to the soundtrack, for example the spider theme song (song 3) for some neat boss battle themes:

Re: Nintendo Labo Wins Two 2019 BAFTA Games Awards

Tiefseemiez

Glad to see Yoku's Island Express getting an award! Great game! Charming, pretty, fun and innovative.

I totally get the Labo appeal and think the awards are well-deserved. If I was that level-editor kind of person or if I had kids this would totally be for me.

On the other hand I never really understood the attention and love "Into the breach" gets. It is definitely a good game. It has a fun mechanic, is well designed and everything. On the other hand there doesn't seem to be much more. Neither looks, charm, story/lore, ....? Still very recommended for strategy fans, but after all it isn't that special to me.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 30th)

Tiefseemiez

I'm stuck at the last level of Wargroove and right now have to take a break of it playing Apocalipsis: Wormwood Edition. Will try to finish Wargroove this weekend though (main campaign). Apocalipsis is not very long, so I might finish that aswell. Looks and sounds good. Like the artstyle and the setting. Don't really like the controls though.
Also I might continue Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition. I hate how the characters faces don't move at all while being fully voiced. Doesn't make any sense. But it was on sale and I liked the rest of the artstyle enough. Never played Final Fantasy before. The combat seems pretty basic in this. But it's fun and charming enough and won't take too long to beat. Probably will get Final Fantasy X/X2 as my next attempt in the series.

Re: SteamWorld Quest Officially Revealed For Switch, A Turn-Based RPG In The SteamWorld Universe

Tiefseemiez

I think this looks amazing and I don't have any issue with it being card-based. I like classical turn-based RPGs, but I also do like card-games and think Image and Form can hardly fail making this game great.
I must admit that I always liked, but never really got into the Dig-series (my boyfriend did though!). SteamWorld Heist was one of the greatest games on the 3DS-eshop for me. Loved the physics-based-turn-based-shooter-RPG it was going for. <3

Only disappointment to me was the vague "2019" release window. Suppose it will be rather autumn/winter then?

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Thanks Fans For Playing Smash Bros. Series Over The Past 20 Years

Tiefseemiez

@BornInNorway81
I was in the same boat. Bought Brawl and didn't get it. Bought SSB for Wii U and kiiiind of got it, since the board game was fun to me.
Played it a lot with my boyfriend though we both sucked badly.
Then we found the Youtube channel of Jtails and discovered how to actually play Smash without falling off the ledge all the time.
I recommend the videos he did for Smash Wii U! Don't watch the Switch ones yet since they are less understandable. But the Wii U character tutorials opened my eyes and made the game far more interesting and fun to me. Though we still suck at playing Smash, but at least less than before .

Re: The Escapists 2 Has Just Received Three New DLC Packs On Switch

Tiefseemiez

@Sammich
This doesn't give me hope for myself.
Got it on sale, tried it out once for maybe 10 minutes, was confused what to do, quit and never returned since.
I always think I should try again since it looks so interesting and is supposed to be great, but there are so many games I have, should return to and will buy at the moment...

Re: Kingdom: Two Crowns Introduces Shogun Era On Switch This December

Tiefseemiez

Unfortunately I couldn't get into the predecessor as much as I thought I would. Played it maybe three times. Didn't even leave the first island. I loved the artstyle and the idea. But for me there was just too many occasions where you couldn't do anything but to stand around and wait because you spend your money much faster than you get new money....maybe they fix this.

Re: Nintendo Download: 8th November (Europe)

Tiefseemiez

@nhSnork
Fair enough and the developers surely deserve support for their effort. And for the asking price the few hours refreshment you get from the great atmosphere and exploring something new probably are worth it. I felt a bit underwhelmed by the controls/crafting and the quantity of different islands coming from Don't Starve. Also wolves. So many wolves.

By the way: The Bridge is so great, but really surprisingly hard. I had to give up at a certain point. I got to a point where I just could not imagine a thing I could try to do and did not already fail at. Its crazy since the level is really small and seemingly simple. Usually I'm not that bad at puzzlers. Love the game for its originality and artstyle.

Re: Random: Former American President Barack Obama Doesn't Care About Pokémon, So Go And Vote

Tiefseemiez

Wow, a lot of you Americans for sure pretty easy to bother with talking about politics. Why so?
Young people being frustrated and not voting is probably a 2st-world-problem though. In Germany this problem too exists. That's why the right-wing party gains power. If you see them demonstrate on the streets 70% of them are 60+.
Seeing that makes you recognise how powerful your vote can be. If their votes can change the face of our countries politics, so can everyone else.

Re: 7 Billion Humans Arrives On The Switch eShop Later This Month

Tiefseemiez

Yes! I forgot that this game was still to come!
I love the style of Tomorrow Corporation. I binged Little Inferno twice. Loved Human Resource Machine a lot too, but unfortunately got stuck. Don't have a programmer's mind I guess.
Stangely enough somehow their biggest title World of Goo is a game I have trouble getting into. I'm just not patient enough.

Re: Experience PlayStation One Era Graphics On Switch With Survival Horror Back In 1995

Tiefseemiez

@tonyhoro
I was there at the time and still it's hard for me to understand how it was even possible to find these graphics appealing at the time. When I saw Pokemon Stadium on N64 in the 90ies, for me that already felt like HD-graphics. Now I cringe just thinking about it.

Edit: I think everything before and after aged better. I personally do not like NES, Gameboy and everything even older graphicwise, but somehow I get how the simplicity has its appeal.

Re: This Is The Police 2 - An Uncompromising Look At Law Enforcement That Often Misses The Mark

Tiefseemiez

I loved the style and storytelling of the first game. The gameplay was fun aswell if you are into Sims.
I tried maybe three times choosing the right things to avoid being shot by one of the two mafia gangs, but failed.
I even restarted the whole game because I was unsure if I messed up before the gang war even started.
This was the point I just stopped playing. Maybe I should consider a walkthrough aswell. The game had a great concept and atmosphere.

Re: Nintendo Confirms That Animal Crossing is Coming To Switch Next Year

Tiefseemiez

@maruse
Huh?
I think there are at least 3 save files?

I think I will get this. I played it on 3DS, because it came with the system, but wouldn't have been interested otherwise. The game is really repetitive and kind of boring, but somehow the franchise grew to me. I like the character designs. And I think on the go this will be perfect and not as repetitive as me trying to get 3 consecutive hours of playtime out of it. Also I hope it is open world and with much more to do. For example the stuff they had going in Happy Home Designer (which I really liked a lot!).

And I love the way Nintendo trolls its fanbase with Smash. The King K. Rool one at E3 was amazing, the Luigi's Mansion one was great aswell and the Animal Crossing one was fun to. They really like to mess with our feelings.
It must be great to have fans that passionate that you can play those tricks on them.

Re: Into The Breach Is The Turn-Based Pacific Rim Simulator You've Always Wanted

Tiefseemiez

@Pod
It feels novel and to me it sounds good. It also has some slight, but nice rumble. It is a lot more satisfying than it is frustrating and you really get the hang of the basic mechanics very fast.
It feels pretty fair to me.
Though so far I only got to Island Nr. 3 and didn't do the end boss yet. There could be more Islands, but for the price the amount of content is alright and the hazards and enemies don't get old.

Edit: I also like the animation of the enemies creeping out of the ground. It's pretty creepy, especially when you lose....

Re: Into The Breach Is The Turn-Based Pacific Rim Simulator You've Always Wanted

Tiefseemiez

I downloaded this game almost immediately after the Direct although I also found the visuals almost disturbingly basic. Not only in regard of style, but also the design choices are really really average and boring (though I like that you fight insects).
I liked a lot that the battlefields have a compact size and every level is really short. Also the gameplay is SO rewarding. The mechanics really make for some great combos and are still not in itself complicated. Also I think it is really fair that you can reset your units if they didn't attack yet and reset a whole turn once every level. The different units really mix up the gameplay aswell.
The music is great too, nothing to distracting, to me it has some Metroid-vibes.
I think the upgrade-system could be better though, since you hardly can upgrade your mechs at all (or I missed how you get those spheres and the energy for it).
I would give this game maybe an 8/10 because it really lacks a story and charm (visuals + characters). Gameplay is really addicting though.

Re: Thunderful Reveals Its First Two Games Headed To Switch

Tiefseemiez

Hm, both look fine, but don't have any of the charm their own creations have. Pretty sterile looking creations, but to be fair their genres aren't my taste aswell.

Edit: This comment only referred to the two games mentioned here....Hellsomething and Lonely.....I don't know....the bikeriding game. Cannot even remember their names for more than ten seconds. The last three games in the trailer look pretty neat.
