@ Vio Well, just because Europeans deal with a similar situation on a frequent basis, that doesn't mean we should put up with this. I know several Europeans who don't like the way they've been treated, so why should Americans be ok with this? Besides, this isn't the very first NA VC game to do this. I believe the entire C64 catalog was also lazily ported over. (I've downloaded zero of these so far in large part because of this fact)
Why must we always have 3D graphics just because it's a remake and consoles can handle it? 2D looks so crisp and detailed compared to 3D. sigh Hopefully they release the original too.
A perfect 10, eh? Well, maybe it's about time to drag out the old N64 cart of this game and finally beat it. Thanks to the time limit, and the scary looking moon, I didn't like this game as a kid and couldn't even beat the first dungeon. Maybe now that I'm older, I'll have a better time with it.
The problem I see happening with the VC Arcade is that the only games that will come to it will be the ones already released on compilation discs in order to cut down on the costs of emulating. It also seems unlikely that a game like Popeye would make it due to it being a licensed game. (despite my complaints, I'd still like to see Marble Madness, light gun games and the Simpsons Arcade game come to the VCA)
Majora's Mask is cool, but it's too bad the next two N64 games will be this and Smash Bros. while I already own both of them. When will the N64 have some more 3rd party games?
"Many suggested Nintendo would come out with a hard drive solution like the Xbox 360 thinking that the Wii hardware was not up to the task of playing games directly from SD cards. Thankfully it seems that this assumption was wrong!" Not quite.....at least from what I've heard.. Doesn't this update just temporarily copy over the game and let you play it that way? Because that's what Guitar Hero does for its music downloads but I could be wrong.
I'm definitely interested in getting what is known on the SNES as FF II & III. FF I, however, I will get the GBA version of which comes with FF II (Japan) too. I prefer my games easy.
This is a very nice update. Now the Wii Channel can do what Guitar Hero: World Tour did already. The best part of this update has to be the arcade being added. There are simply limitless opportunities for games now. (at least until you get to around current-gen stuff)
I'm intrigued by this, but not excited quite yet. Why? Game Boy games are common and super cheap. The only reason to be excited is for easy access (no separate GBA and DS) and not having to worry about the battery dying (as has happened in every version of Pokémon Silver I buy)
If they had to make a spinoff of Katamari instead of a proper game, couldn't it have at least been something other than a puzzle game? There are too many puzzle games on Wiiware, let's not get started on doing the same to DSiWare too.
Are any import games ever going to be translated again after only happening in Sin & Punishment? I feel it's a bit unfair that imported games are more money even when no extra effort was put into them. Still, it's hard to complain when we get great games like this. (really enjoyed Bomberman '93)
Good to see you reviewing again PapaSmalls (I still remember the Nintendo Forums reviews for VC games). Very nice job showing the positives and an accurate score too. Hope to see more of you soon!
This game looks like one of those that need to be seen in action, so I'll disregard any problems I have with the screens for now. Anyways, I hope this game turns out good; Wiiware needs more platformers.
Ick, two pages per game now? I'm ok with 5 doubling to 10 (but I miss the stars... ) but two pages? I can understand wanting to separate the review and actual game comments but still, I prefer having all the info I could need in one place. Especially when it comes to videos. Sometimes when I start reading a review and can't understand what the game really plays like so I scroll down and watch the video of it. Now that's gone, and it's something that I've always hated about Wiiware World.
I normally would try to dismiss something like this but Starmen's evidence seems pretty good so far. And the songs don't just sound similar, it sounds like they actually have other songs inside of their songs! You can clearly hear the star-spangled banner (which I believe IS infringement for some weird reason....) and the monty python thing is pretty blatant too. Not sure why NOJ would object to changing the songs though. Just a few small tweaks would suffice from what I can see. (and if those songs in the link were the only big culprits) As for pop culture references, I don't think there's anything illegal about that is there?
Well, some people may be disappointed with this surprise, but I'm pretty excited. I think a lot of the C64 games are interesting, although admittedly overpriced. Maybe NOA can chop off 100 points or so for us? (please?)
MERCS? Eh, I guess that's all well and good for some people here, but I'd rather have gotten Clayfighter. (as a guy who makes claymations, I'd like to play a game based on clay even if it is kind of bad) To me, MERCS comes off as bland and if I really wanted it, I would get the Capcom Classics Collection.
I have disliked Hudson since their unofficial dropping out of the Virtual Console service but I have to admit that they are making innovative strides in the Wiiware side of life. Making an FPS for Wiiware? And with online multiplayer? That's huge, even if it does end up being kind of crappy.
It's nice to know that a CEO of a game company is actually listening to people's criticism and responding to it all. I personally don't have anything to add that anyone else hasn't already but it's still nice.
I liked the soundtrack but I'm definitely not dropping $30 on a soundtrack when some WiiWare games give their soundtracks for free. $10 is a more reasonable price considering the game cost that much.
I'm guessing the charts haven't moved much due to a calm before christmas. I'm sure people are waiting until Xmas day to download incase in hopes of points cards as gifts.
Am I the only person who isn't a tad bit interested in this game? Sure, it's not a puzzle game or shovelware, but it just doesn't seem very creative. It feels uninspired as did High Voltage's other work. Maybe others can find the appeal but I can't.
@ Virus I don't think they download every single VC game because the reviews come up way too soon for that to be true. They typically just use the original copy of the game for reviewing purposes considering little, if anything, changes in the ports.
Anyways, the site said that my My Nintendo account is now connected to Club Nintendo but I can't log in. Do I have to wait for a confirmation email or something?
The platformer looks OK. I mean, sure, Neko has a bad track record but the video didn't look like it was horrible or anything. It might be too easy or the controls are bad but the graphics and idea seem decent.
Chariot racing on the other hand, I have no idea what to expect.
It seems a bit iffy to buy a 3rd party wiimote when the controller is so important for the Wii. Also, does it work with the official nunchuk and will it work with Wii Motion Plus when it comes out? There are chances that it might not and it would be wasted money then.
Judging from the video, it still looks like the control scheme involves a lot of wrist movement. Probably not as strenuous as Plattchen but I haven't tried either game so I can't really say for sure.
Meh, Boingz never looked good to me anyway. Also, @ Dazza: I prefer big TVs myself. Maybe it's just me, but I don't understand the appeal of little HD TV's. I can't see myself ever actually using it.
What can be better than a Gamecube knock-off with turbo switches for almost any button? (well, an officially licensed one but otherwise) NOTHING! I seriously need to consider getting this thing. Maybe I should put it on my Christmas wishlist. So many wants, so little time. (and money)
Happy birthday VC-Reviews! I completely forgot that you changed names but now that you mention it, I kind of miss the old one. Ah, but it doesn't matter, we don't come here for the name anyways!
Well PALgamer, I know the US has just one system and I believe the other countries just use that one as well considering I've never heard of any other ones around here. The ESRB just seems to be the king.
I agree with posts 16 and 17: with the way the review was going, the score felt like a seven or even maybe an eight! Maybe you should edit it with a few more nitpickings to point out why you chose a 6?
Did anybody else notice how WiiWare World kept screwing up the name in the review and that they would correct them with the full name with the answer? I thought it was pretty amusing, if subtle.
Anyways, I don't think this game will be nearly as bad as Pong Toss. The graphics are lightyears ahead of it, the developer is more experienced, and it sounds like they really care about delivering a good game, at least from my perspective.

Why should we rush out to download a faulty product that wasn't optimized for us? http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=134051

Re: The End Of The World Starts In Europe
By the title, I couldn't tell what this article was about. Sure, it's nice to have creative titles, but not ones that leave you clueless.
Re: Welcome to the New Look Nintendo Life!
Change it back. Now.
(I really hope this is an April Fool's Day joke, and if it isn't....WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO CHANGE TODAY? STOP MESSING WITH MY MIND!)

Re: SD Card Game Launching + Arcade Games Available on VC Now!
@ Adamant
Thanks for the reply, that's great!
Re: SD Card Game Launching + Arcade Games Available on VC Now!
Hey, do VC Arcade games have the instant save thingy like all VC games (other than N64 & NeoGeo) do?

Re: Master of Illusion and Brain Training Coming to DSiWare
The screenshots of the Master of Illusion games really pique my interest. Hopefully those games will be as good as I hope they will be.
Re: Phantasy Star Zero Mini Coming to DSiWare
Am I the only one who thinks this will just be a demo of the real Phantasy Star 0?
Re: Cube: Gardens of Zen Coming To WiiWare
Meh, I can see this game aggravating me every time it turns over to a new side of the block. Not my kind of puzzle game.

Re: First Screens of Adventure Island: The Beginning Revealed
I was kind of hoping for a 2D game (2D > 3D FTW) but if this gets a good score, I'll be sure to take a look at it anyways.
Re: Nintendo DSi European Launch: April 3rd
@15 As I was reading Dazza's comment at 12, I was thinking the exact same thing. Although, those aren't nearly as catchy as the name Wiiware-World

I thought the new PS3s now go to 160GB?
Re: Semnat Studios Announces Eduardo the Samurai Toaster
No matter how good this game is, I'm betting it won't sell well, similar to how Toki Tori didn't. The name is just too bizarre, again, like Toki Tori.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - January 2009
Cool, Super Smash Bros. I already have that game, but I know other people wanted it badly. They may be disappointed by what they get though.....

Wow, I think this game is shaping up to look pretty good. At the very least, it IS is nice change of pace from all the bright and shiny puzzlers.

I'll be getting World of Goo before this but this is shaping up to be some good competition! I hope it's as good as they are making it sound.

This is a cool idea, but I'd probably just get a book instead. That way I have a physical copy and it doesn't take up memory in my Wii.
