Re: Nintendo Europe Offers New Way Into 3DS Ambassador Program

TheGreenSpiny

How do you connect to the internet without going on the eShop? I was starting to get worried when I purchased mine because I couldn't find the eShop on the main menu, then I realized I had to download the update. I went to a local coffee shop with free WiFi to download the update and get on the eShop. Needless to say I was very happy when I got the message confirming I was an ambassador.

Re: Talking Point: The Great Nintendo 3DS Price Drop Debate

TheGreenSpiny

Well, I'd say the 3DS price drop helped me score the system. That and the 20 free games. To be honest if retailers hadn't dropped the price early I probably wouldn't have picked one up. I'm happy so far and being as I'm strapped for cash probably won't be able to afford any new games till more of the good ones come out anyway. I'm more than happy to wait and I've still have DS and DSi games to catch up on. I'm sure after the holiday hits, now with the price drop and some Mario games the system will start to pick up sales big time.

Re: More Official Details of 3DS Ambassador Scheme Emerge

TheGreenSpiny

@Bass_XO: Obviously can't be a hardware issue otherwise it would be pointless to release 4 Swords, as that is multiplayer only. Unless it was one of the games that supported the Wireless link accessory. (I think it shipped with Pokemon or something? Never owned one myself.)

It's a little annoying that we're getting gimped versions of these games.

Re: Feature: 3DS Games Worth Buying Before Mario

TheGreenSpiny

Star Fox all the way. That game was made for 3D. Plus the wiiware version had gimped controls. I own the rest, though I'm probably gonna get bit.trip complete for Wii. Still haven't bought the final game in that series, so I'm just gonna wait for the compilation.

Re: Talking Point: The Future of Metroid

TheGreenSpiny

@hawkeye_wii: Sorry but Metroid Fusion is far better than Zero Mission. Zero Mission is great too, but the atmospere and immersion in Fusion are second to only the Prime games. And the story is riveting, and told largely in the classic Metroid sense, through environments and actions rather than obtrusive cutscenes.

Re: Talking Point: The Future of Metroid

TheGreenSpiny

Dual Analog? Ugh. No thanks, I like my pointer controls for their precision, something that dual analog lacks. What's next aiming down sights (or barrel?) to compensate for awful dual analog controls? If Metroid comes to the Wii U it better have 'Mote & 'chuck support.

Other M did have a lot of great ideas. I like the dodge and melee attacks, but the auto aim was a bad idea, as was the first person only missiles. I also like the fixed camera angles, and the blending of 2D and 3D elements. It really needed more exploration and atmospere, and less obtrusive story. Fusion is one of the best story driven games every, something as suspenseful and scary as that would be cool for the 3DS.

Re: Feature: Staff Roundtable - Metroid's Past, Present and Future

TheGreenSpiny

@27 Rift: I agree. For the most part I enjoyed Other M, but it was not what I wanted from a Metroid game. There was so little exploration and environmental puzzels that the game felt like Metroid lite for noobs.

@31 Ren: LOL, my feelings exactly. People seem to have so very little love for the first Metroid game. I also get tired of the Super Metroid noobs who missed out on the first two games. I think Super Metroid is way over rated. Not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination but deffinatly not the best in the series.

Re: Interviews: Renegade Kid - Mutant Mudds

TheGreenSpiny

@22 waveboy: I loved Dementium besides it's one fatal flaw, the fact that enemies respawn every time you leave a room which made the game harder than hell. I have Dementium 2 but never really got into it.

@12 & 21: I have to disagree here. Dementium had silky smooth controls, second only to a Wii Remote Nunchuk combo. Once you get used to playing a game the hand cramps subside. I got over my hand cramps with MPH.

Re: Talking Point: Your 25 Years of Metroid Memories

TheGreenSpiny

@66: I would start with Other M or Fusion as they are most simple games in the series.

@82: I don't know about Zero Mission being the best. Little too much handholding for my tastes. Glad to see someone giving props to MP3, as I think that's the most underrated in the series.

Re: Review: Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (GameCube)

TheGreenSpiny

I loved this game. It was a bit too tedious for the first quarter of the game then it really opens up. I got worn out on the first game about halfway through when you had to switch weapons every room to open a door or kill a new commando trooper or whatever. The dark world felt like classic Metroid, and I loved how the two worlds were identical. I still think the 3rd game was the best in the series, the corruption mode was brillant, as was having landing points for your ship. Be able to land you ship at different points made the backtracking less tedious.

Re: Nintendo Rep Backpedals on Game Boy Advance Kirby

TheGreenSpiny

@23: Don't get me wrong; I still have my gold NES cartridge. But the game itself if rather poorly designed without a whole lot of thought or logic to it. Same for #2. Zelda didn't really take off till ALTTP and LA. As for SMB even as kid I found it a little boring, I liked sequels much better.

Re: Nintendo Rep Backpedals on Game Boy Advance Kirby

TheGreenSpiny

Well the first 5 games are awesome. Though I'd rather have the NES version of SMB3 than the GBA. I've never played either Kirby GBA games so I wouldn't mind those be added to the list. Many of the NES games I could care less about. LoZ hasn't held up that well over the years. And SMB is boring compared to it's NES sequels.

Re: Here's Nintendo's Most Up to Date Release Schedule

TheGreenSpiny

@44 ROFLMAO: GBA and DS were made successful because of ports, GBA was like one huge port machine. The entire Super Mario Advance series, the FF remakes, the DKC ports, the NES classics series. Even Doom got ported to the GBA. I remember being annoyed at all the ports that came to that system. There were some stellar games that came to the GBA but it did get a little absurd with the ports.

What did DS get on launch day? Mario 64 port. Later on, more Squenix remakes and ports.

And since when are Mario and Zelda not exciting. At least the games were good to begin with. I can't say that about anything Activision has published in the last 20 years.

Re: Rumour: Kirby's Amazing Mirror for 3DS GBA Virtual Console

TheGreenSpiny

@75: It's Kirby gone Metroidvania by way of the Four Swords. I'm just wondering if they are going to put in the 4 player multiplayer? I'm guessing they might because it's from the same company that made Four Swords, which can only be played multiplayer, and is also gonna be released for free.

That would deffinatly increase the value in the game if they added the mutliplayer.

Re: Talking Point: The NES Games You Want on 3DS Virtual Console

TheGreenSpiny

Wow, you people need to stop whining. @mickeymac: That is some backwards logic. Not every person in the world is gonna be satisfied with this solution but I say it's fair. No one said you had to go out and buy a 3DS day 1 for $250. If people thought that was too much to pay for the system they shouldn't have bought one period. I know there are always those rabbid Nintendo fanboys who are gonna be there day one and feel slighted by the sudden price drop. I think the 20 games is a great compensation. I wish I had a 3DS because I would love to have those GBA games all on one system, without the need to carry the carts around.

Re: Renegade Kid Shopping ATV Wild Ride 3D to Publishers

TheGreenSpiny

Coming from Renegade Kid I'd expect nothing less than top notch graphics (and framerate) and well as impeccable controls, at least judging by thier Dementium and Moon games. The track design didn't look too bad from the video, hopefully they'll have cool and creative courses to race on. Nothing I hate more than a racing game with lackluster track designs. (You hear that Need for Speed?!)

Re: Uh Oh, Now Namco Goes for Single 3DS Save File

TheGreenSpiny

No LEADERBOARDS? What's the point? These are both score based games, and you can't delete the files?

What happened to online leaderboards? Wasn't every score based game every made from now on supposed to have online leaderboards? That is supposed to be the standard right?

Another reason the 3DS sells poorly... 3rd parties pulling this crap.

Re: Fox Flies Into a New Trailer for Star Fox 64 3D

TheGreenSpiny

@Graph: Hey! I'm on your side! I agree, I could care less about online multiplayer. This game never had deep multiplayer to begin with. If I actually thought it would improve sales, then I might argue for it, but these people about online would never buy the game anyway.

@38: Slippy is a girl, there's no way that voice comes from a man.

Re: Irrational Has No Plans for Wii U Games Yet

TheGreenSpiny

Who cares? If this idiot is too stupid to realize that Wii Remote and nunchuk are far supior for FPS he's go no right to develop for the Wii U. No way would I ever play Bioshock with dual analog. Get with the times dude. And pay attention: the Wii also has something called a "Classic Controller."

Re: Vigil Games Talks Darksiders II and Tricky Wii U Development

TheGreenSpiny

I'm actually excited about this. Not to make games follow Zelda's formula anymore. Looks like this one will be cool. As long as there aren't any performance issues I'll pick this one up.

@5: Factor 5 is gone dude. They closed up shop a year or two ago and the Rogue Squadron game (and possibly the rumored Kid Icarus for Wii) became vaporware.
