Re: Nintendo Download: 16th February 2012 (North America)

TheGreenSpiny

@grumblebuzzz: That "beefcake" cover is all the help you need in deciding that you should be interested in the game.

@peacefulLuma91: What are you talking about? That NA cover for Strider is a work of art! The only way that thing could be better is if they used Fabio as the model.

Re: Talking Point: Wii U and the Future of the Online Pass

TheGreenSpiny

I have no problems with "project $10" if it's used correctly. As people have pointed out with Batman Arkham City, using the code (which is tied to you online account) to unlock the Catwoman missions is bogus. I don't mind charging people $10 to unlock online play for a used game. Since it costs money to keep the servers up and running and whatnot long after the game is finished.

Things like this have made me strong advocate against online integration of games and gamers accounts. I don't want to worry about having to connect my system in order to play my games or content. This is a big reason why I'd never purchase downloadable games for PS3/ 360.

I think publishers need to get smarter about DLC, and offer cool things that are worth your money. DLC is cheap and easy to make for a finished game.

Re: Feature: The Joy of Gaming Together

TheGreenSpiny

Couldn't tell you how many hours I spent on GoldenEye and Mario Kart 64 back in my college days.

Lately I've had my nephew to play games like DKCR, and NSMB with, but he's gone off to college himself. Nothing like some good old fashioned offline multiplayer.

Re: Review: 3DS Circle Pad Pro

TheGreenSpiny

@72 ACCC: I totally agree with you there. That's the main reason I'll never get this... Frankenstick. I hate dual analog to begin with. I was surprised at how accurate the gyro controls were for Revelations, and that may be the way I play that game.

@corbs and phoenixborn: You guy better send those links, and make sure you buy used CCPs lest Nintendo get any ideas.

@29 Kid_A: My thoughts exactly, why can't developers show a little creativity when it comes to controls? It's not like they need to be innovative... the DS had a small number of FPSs that worked well. And why is Nintendo the only one who makes games where you don't need to constantly fiddle with the camera? I'm a gamer not a Film Director dammit!

Re: North America Gets 3DS eShop Demo Tomorrow

TheGreenSpiny

Awesome! This is the one demo I want most followed by Snake Eater. Thanks Reggie! You made my day.

As for all you people who don't care about Resident Evil, that's the whole point of a demo... to try a game you may not otherwise give a second look too. It's free, so everybody should download this one.

Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Wii U Will Not Make Wii Games Sharper

TheGreenSpiny

@Arkaein: Thanks for the explanation. I can see there is a lot of ignorance here. People have seen screenshots and such of Wii games running in HD on emulators which actually comb through the code and run texture resolutions at what they really are on the game disc, which is often higher than what the Wii outputs to your TV. The Wii itself renders the textures to 480, whether they are higher rez or not. It would require work on all the individual games to get them to look as nice as those PC emulators people have seen (not to mention a lot of extra processing power). A simple upscaler wouldn't look nearly as good.

It's not as if DVD upscalers suddenly give you Blu-Ray quality from your regular DVDs.

Re: Kid Icarus: Uprising Will Use the Circle Pad Pro

TheGreenSpiny

I'm glad too hear they won't be using dual analog. This means I'm gonna buy the game. Though I don't know how much easier this will be for lefties... With the extra width the CCP adds, it might be awfully hard to stretch that thumb over to the touch screen. I'm also glad to know I'm not the only one who prefers touch screen aiming.

@48: The hand cramps go away with time. I used to get them playing Metroid Prime Hunters, but when I started playing Dementium I never had a problem. But then again all of Renegade Kid's shooters were smoother and more accurate at 60 fps.

Re: Review: F-Zero Maximum Velocity (3DS Virtual Console / Game Boy Advance)

TheGreenSpiny

@16 Captain_Falcon: Try playing Super Circuit on 150 cc. THAT is hardcore.

@BulbasaurusRex: 32 & 16 bit refer to the amount of colors. They don't have anything to do with horsepower.

@30 jayclayx: I've played the hell out of GX and still own a copy of that game. It was suburb. This one just plain sucks. Ugly Graphics, poor controls, bad track design, the works.

Re: Review: Mighty Switch Force (3DSWare)

TheGreenSpiny

@33 Almostnacho: NL is not the only one. The Mighty games have gotten favorable reviews across the board. It's not NL's fault your taste in games differs.

@Bulbasaur: With out the puzzle mechanics this game would not be fun. After all platformers have puzzle mechanics of some sort. You have to think about where to jump, when to jump, ect.

Anyway this is suburb game. Everyone should download this one immeadiently.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap ( / Game Boy Advance)

TheGreenSpiny

@Kid_A: Good job defending the review. I think people whine too much about individual scores. I also agree that this game is not a 10/10. It has too many flaws that can't be overlooked. There is the complete lack of side quests outside of the kinstone fusion, which gets really annoying really fast. (You fuse kinstones to make a treasure appear on the map travel all the way there and open it to get... another kinstone? Really Flagship?) Just getting around the map is a pain, they took the Metroid approach here which gets really annoying. Then there's the problem of the GBA's lack of buttons. Having to switch out items all the time to pull off specific moves gets annoying.

That being said, the dungeons are brilliant. It has the best graphics in the entire series. This is deffinatly a solid game in the Zelda cannon and every bit deserving of a 9.
