Re: Star Fox 64 3D Trailer Goes Off the Beaten Track

TheGreenSpiny

Good luck to all you people waiting for price drops. 1st party Nintendo games never drop in price. They just finally dropped the price on Super Paper Mario for Wii and that was basically a launch game.

@12 and 17: Aside from the first mission most of the branching paths are determined by wether or not you complete your mission objectives for a level. If you are successful you head one way, fail and you go another. Sometimes even the levels and the boss fights will change. This is what gave the game so much replay value. It's pretty easy to beat if you take the far right path, but can be brutal if you can make it through the far left path. The path you take also changes the final level in the game and the final boss fight. Very cool stuff. Damn! Now I got myself all hyped for the game.

Re: 3DS Ambassador Certificate Will Keep You Informed

TheGreenSpiny

@4: Obviously the games are not ready. I'm guessing the NES games are easier to port because they are already on the Wii's VC. They already said they are updating the games too. Since the GBA games haven't been anywhere outside the GBA they would require more work. Would you rather wait 6 months to get them all?

@15: You didn't honestly believe they would have 3rd part titles did you? It seems pretty obvious that they would be 1st party only.

Re: North American NES Ambassador Games Announced

TheGreenSpiny

My only dissappointment here is not seeing Kid Icarus. Wish they would remove Zelda 2 and place him there instead. I probably haven't played half those games so they will be new to me.

@93 Thomas: We're not getting Dr. Mario for the same reason we're not getting Mario Bros. Both of those game are included in the GBA set.

Re: Analyst Predicts Monster Hunter Announcement at TGS 2011

TheGreenSpiny

@mandoble: You use you left thumb to move camera with the touch screen. Same as any DS FPS. It's not that hard. It would be better if capcom added a lock on camera and a quick turn (like the RE games use.) Having to constantly fiddle with the camera ruins the game for me.

@38 Aviator: Better? How is fiddling with the camera better? It would be better if the camera followed your character over the shoulder ala RE. You spend all your time in MH trying to adjust the camera, and by that time the monster has turned around and it is charging you again so you can't line up your next attack on time. No thanks Capcom. Come up with a better camera system then we'll talk.

Re: Aliens Infest North America on 11th October

TheGreenSpiny

@19: Sure the game design maybe. But Wayforward is know for pushing the DS tech too the max. I doubt they could have pulled of all their tricks for Shantae and Thor on the GBA. I also looks like they are using their Contra 4 engine for this game.

@20 SuperLink: Metroid ripped from Aliens, so why not the other way around? If this games plays like a 2D Metroid I'll definatly buy it. If it's more linear like Contra I may or may not.

Re: Analyst Predicts Monster Hunter Announcement at TGS 2011

TheGreenSpiny

@18 Highwinter: Stories have nothing to do with RPGs. It has do with wether or not they have turn based, menu driven combat. Many of the old 80's dungeon crawlers never had a story either.

As for Monster Hunter, I thought Tri was a bore... and the clumsy controls didn't help. Maybe with better controls, I'd be more into the series. And do something about that camera Capcom! Having to fight fast moving monsters while constantly moving the camera is a pain.

Re: Aliens Infest North America on 11th October

TheGreenSpiny

@7 Sneaker13: This is Wayforward. These guys are masters of 2D game making. I doubt this one could be made for the GBA.

From what I read this game is like Metroid, but you play as multiple characters each with a different background and story. If a character dies they can't be revived, and you have to play as a different one. The story will change depending on the characters you play as.

Re: Star Fox 64 3D Multiplayer Trailer Brings its Friends

TheGreenSpiny

@15: I too loved the original multiplayer when I could get people to actually play with me which was never (plus you need a opponent with skill in that game). Most people wanted to play GoldenEye and Mario Kart.

I do have to say after seeing that trailer, that I really wish this had online support. That looks a hundred times better than the original, and those new levels look sweet. Oh well, bummer.

Re: Feature: Wii Controllers - What Could Have Been

TheGreenSpiny

@23: My point exactly. Those points where the camera doesn't move is because of the programing not the lack of analog stick. Analog stick would have made the camera control more precise, but for whatever reason the designers locked out the controls. This happens a lot in Mario 64, but in that game I think it was because of the prerendered graphics that were used for some of the backgrounds and such. There were a lot of places where you couldn't control the camera at all. These games a sharp contrast to Sunshine, which had you constantly fiddling with the camera and seriously killed all enjoyment of that game.

Re: Feature: Wii Controllers - What Could Have Been

TheGreenSpiny

My problem with all of these devices is they are just attachments, same as the rest of the junk released for Wii. Old School light guns were cool because they were seperate controllers. If Nintnedo had made a new Zapper that looked like that hand cannon but replaced the flashing lights with a IR pointer that would have been cool. Keep an slot on the bottom for the nunchuk and you would have had an awesome controller for HOTD. Of course the pointer works differently and is usually best when rested in your lap like a normal controller anyway, so that might not have worked out so well.

@16 pikmaniac02: I have to disagree here. I hate having to muck around with the camera too much in games. Mario Galaxy had a great camera most of the time. I'll admit there were times when I wanted to more freedom with the camera, but Nintendo locked out the controls most of the time when I really need that function.

Re: What Are Aonuma's Controller Ideas for Wii U Zelda?

TheGreenSpiny

@maggots: I agree somewhat here. While I'm a bit excited about Skyward Sword I'm also worried that my arms are gonna feel pain, especially after playing Red Steel 2. I don't mind playing with buttons, but I can't stand dual analog games. All those FPS that were announced or whatever at E3 would be terrible without the Wii Remote / Nunchuk combo.

What I want to see is something better, not something different. I've never bothered with the DS Zelda games because I couldn't stand the touch screen only controls. They were imprecise, uncomfortable, awkward and annoying. Same goes for Star Fox Command. Nintendo tried to do something different, and came up with something worse.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Readying Big Announcement Next Month

TheGreenSpiny

@56: How is the iPad not innovative? Every time I turn on the TV I see iPad ads followed by the competitions lame knockoffs. The same thing happened after the iPhone was introduced. Maybe people don't want to carry around a clunky laptop. I's hardly call most of them portable.

@58: You can get a desktop that does whole lot more than your laptop for that same price. It boggles my mind that people even bother buying laptops.

Re: 3DS Price Cut Helps Machine to Huge Sales Hike in Japan

TheGreenSpiny

Good to hear some good news for a change. I'm getting tired of this 3DS doom and gloom. With the price cut, the AAA Nintendo games coming and the holiday season, come Feb of next year the 3DS will be in awesome shape. Then we can start with the Vita doom and gloom predictions, lol.

Re: Resi Revelations Trailer Features Classic Voice Acting

TheGreenSpiny

@savino: I agree, I want the touch screen aiming that the DS uses. However both RE games use the circle pad to aim. The games more or less control like RE4 on the 'Cube. Not as good as using the touch screen (or a Wii Remote) but not as bad as trying to aim with the buttons.

And I think some people need to dig out a copy of RE 1 and play that again. That was some seriously bad voice "acting." I still keep my DS copy around for and giggles. This hardly qualifies as bad acting by comparison.
