@22: How was Okami in any way shape or form improved on Wii? That was one of the worst and most painful gaming experiences I've ever endured. The graphics were actually downgraded from the PS2 game, and the controls were so broken it rendered the game unplayable. (That goes for combat as well as the painting.) This was precisely the kind of game made the haters, hate the Wii.
More on topic, I'm deffinatly gonna get Blaster Master.
How is this any different than Face Raiders? Face Raiders was terrible... trying to use the gyroscope to aim was a imprecise pain. The 3DS's camera is terrible too. Why would people want to use that for games? The only thing cool about face raiders was how it rendered your face on the game.
@132 bro2dragons: I wouldn't call you cynical, I'd call you whiney. As far as "patience" goes, I've been waiting even longer for Fatal Frame 4 to come over here, so just be thankful that this one is coming at all.
7/10? Are you kidding me? This game deserves no less than an 8/10, and that's only because of the hardware restrictions (lack of color, ect.). I'm not sure why Metroid 1 & 2 always get the shaft and Zelda 1 & 2 are still so highly reguarded. These games have held up far better than the NES Zelda games.
@Bass_XO: Thanks for the link... Now I can finally finish the game. lol
@Link245: The game is in color, as somebody pointed out. This is a Super Game Boy Game Pak. Until Nintendo releases color options for the Super Game Boy Paks I'm not going to by this one.
People are idiots, a platform is a platform. You need something to play these games on, whether Sony, Nintendo, or Apple makes the platform somebody does. The difference here is that the 3DS is made for games, not for calling your friends, As somebody pointed out the reason Nintendo makes such suburb games is they makes the games around their hardware. Most other companies fail to do that. The big reason crap like Angry Birds is so successful is that it was tailored to the touch screen interface. Games like Chinatown Wars probably play like crap in iOS, and no self respecting gamer would go near anything but the DS/PSP versions of the game.
If anybody thinks Mario 64 is boring you need find a new hobby. My one and only complaint about the game was the good awful camera. Even when you used the c buttons it slithered back to it's annoying default position. This made it painful to play at times but it was never boring.
I gotta say as much as I've loved the more recent 3D Mario titles, I miss the freeform star collecting of this game. It may not feel very "Mario like" but it was a hell of a lot of fun.
@18 shinesprite: I wondered why there was no "excite mode" with no weapons and just the ability to boost. The inclusion of ramps and bikes in MK Wii would have made that a perfect new addition.
@12 Geonjaha: This is a completely different game. It's also much more user friendly with save points (instead of passwords) and lot more forgiving game structure by today's standards. Well worth your money if you are a Metroid fan.
@23 Ren: Playing these games on the 3DS is like night and day. There is no motion blur that the original Brick Gameboy had, and of course having a back light makes a world of difference also. My only complaint would be the lack of Super Gameboy support.
@43 trueWiiMaster: I hear you, man. I get tired of hearing about how the Gamecube was technically inferior. I get tired of hearing about N64, Cube and Wii's many "flaws" in these kinds of articles. Some of these things make no difference anyway. Online gaming wasn't very big last gen. Outside of Xbox most games didn't have online. Even on Xbox it wasn't used a ton. PS2 required you buy some kind of adaptor to play more than two players (both online and off). It was certainly better hardware than the PS2. The game Library is better than both of those systems, and the games hold up better to this day. And as much as the Xbox was supposed to be graphically superior, I still haven't seen a game that bested RE4 for the Cube.
I think the 'Cube was the most underrated game system Nintendo ever made.
@22: Please don't insult GoldenEye by comparing it this steeming turd of a franchise. Those of us who played real FPSs back in the day hate this crap that companies shovel out these days. Hence the hate.
PETA needs to stick to what they are good at: filming naked chicks. Then I'll pay attention. (To the naked chicks... not to whatever the hell they are blathering about now.)
I'd also say that Twilight Princess, Wii Sports Resort, Monster Hunter Tri, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Mario Kart Wii don't belong on this list. I would have put Mad World, Red Steel 2, Mario Galaxy, and Super Paper Mario.
Corruption is great but why not put the Trilogy in it's place?
@31: If you look at the sales numbers he is a moron. It's not as if the Wii and DS hardware sales were bad 18 months ago. This guy needs to choose his words a little more carefully.
I'm tired of this Nintendo getting out of the hardware business crap. Sega failed with every console they made except for the Genesis. The Dreamcast, the Saturn, the 32x, the Sega CD, and the Master System. Even the Game Gear was failure. That was the reason Sega got out of the hardware business.
@51: Thanks Dez. I was simply pointing that his facts are inaccurate, and that his argument is self defeating. I'm guessing he brought up those franchises because they are on their way to the 3DS. From his write up it sounds like he's never played RE before. Also, poor controls didn't stop MH on the PSP. My feeling is that Capcom is using the Frankenstick as an excuse to continue being lazy and not create a proper auto camera for their MH franchise. It was still clumsy and horrible even with the Classic Controller Pro on Wii.
@52 accc: There are a lot more games out there than Sunshine that use poor cameras that require the second stick. As battLeToaD pointed out Splinter Cell is one of them. This could easily be rectified if designers took the time to implement better cameras for their games, but most want to save time and money by simply shoehorning controls to an analog stick.
The biggest problem with Frankenstick is that it has stunted sales. A lot of people said that they are waiting for a redesigned "lite" version of the 3DS. Now everybody is assuming that the second slider will be part of the redesign, they simply reaffirmed their decision to wait. While they might have otherwise been enticed by the newly added features (eShop, Netflix, Hulu, DLC...) and the next big crop of games (3D Land, MK7, Revelations, Snake Eater...), their decision to wait will in turn hurt a lot of sales for the above games. Just one more thing that Nintendo can do to alienate 3rd parties I guess. If however the slide pad is not incorperated into the redesign, they risk permanently losing customers who waited for the "lite" version of the 3DS.
@Mr_Reece: You also claimed that RE used the second stick for camera controls. It never has. If you really need to look around in RE you can hold down R and and use the slider pad. No need for any clunky circle pad attachments. I don't think a lot of FPS fans (ones that don't own a 3DS) are going to jump on the bandwagon unless some future redesign has the second circle pad. Even then they may just get a Vita for the beefed up hardware. If a redesign happens, then we are just gonna get a batch of generic games with generic controls, that don't make good use of the hardware, most likely downgraded ports from the Vita. We've all seen that before.
@7 Mr_Reece: You missed my point. RE has never used dual analog period. It's not about reliance, I'm just stating facts here. RE 0-5 never used dual analog. 3DS Mercs doesn't use it, neither does the Revelations demo. Maybe those Outbreak games did, I haven't played those in a long time so I don't remember. Metal Gear Solid and it's remake also didn't use it. Never played 2, but 3 only used it for controlling the camera not aiming and such. In Metal Gear Solid you could always go into aiming mode to look around. Anyway, Modern Warfare 3: Defiance was just released for the DS with doesn't even have one analog stick which kind of makes your point null and void. This is like the 5th CoD game for the DS by N-Space, who also developed both GoldenEye games for the DS as well. As others have pointed out somebody must be buying these games because they keep bringing them out for the DS. The best games are designed around the specific controller for the system they're made for.
@9 bobbikat: Yeah, it takes a little getting used to. I basically put my thumb on the touchscreen as if it were an analog stick. Much more accurate than dual analog. It's even more accurate if you use the stylus, but that is a bit too clumsy for me. It's the standard for the DS, and I'd like to see it continue.
@23 Retrox: Somebody did come up with a stylus that wraps around your thumb. Don't remember the name though.
RE has NEVER relied on dual analog input. The old games used a single D-pad. The new games use a single analog stick. Metal Gear Solid never used dual analog either. The sequels allowed you to adjust the camera manually, but it was never used like the controls for a FPS.
What I don't understand is why people are so eager to go backwards on clumsy unreliable dual analog controls? I certainly won't buy any games that require the circle pad. After playing with the precision of touch screen controls, I won't be going back. As far as I'm concerned dual analog is best left where it belongs: in the past.
Would have been cooler if Mario had to find a power-up in the level to help him complete like in the Galaxy games. This would have made it more Zelda like.
Well I actually believe Ubisoft on this one. At least they supported Wii with both from the get go. Hopefully they don't have so many growing pains as they did with the Wii.
I'm more interested in the Wii version with proper controls. Whose dumb idea was it use button instead of the touch screen? Why is there no unlockable Centapede arcade game?
@onett: There was no contradiction there. I meant you put it away and dig it out a year or two later, versus just selling it. As I stated all good games have replay value, but once it complete a game it goes back in the box and I start something new. From your comments it sounds like you only play SSBB or MK because they are online, and the other games mentioned don't have replay value.
As far as Brawl goes I rather like the Subspace Emissary mode. I find most fighting games boring. I need enough a single player experience before I put cash down for a fighting game. As far as my gaming preferences go, I like gaming by myself. I don't feel a need to be connected to anybody. If I want to hang out with my friends I'll go to a bar.
@80: I'm not saying they don't have replay value. Any good game does. I also own a lot of old games, but most of those games sit in a case in storage till I feel nostalgic. I keep all my faves, unless I get some kind of remake/reissue. Most people I know dump games after they finish them (and sometimes don't even finish them). People recycle games at an absurd rate these days.
My point is that onett's complaint is not valid. Once you beat most games you're not just going to keep playing it over and over. When it's finished you move on to the next game, if it's good enough you come back at a later date and play it again.
@onett: Thus is the nature of all entertainment (except maybe music). Do you sit and watch the same movie over and over? Do you read the same book again and again? No. When you finish them, you get rid of them or put them away for some future play through (or viewing/reading).
Personally I get sick of all this online gaming crap. I'm tired of it ruining the single player aspects of games. (FPS anyone?) Sure it extends replay value but playing the same short arcade experiences over and over gets old quickly. No online multiplayer has ever been as deep and rich as a well made single player game, and by their very nature never will be.
I played NPC Pikmin, but I didn't like the game at all. Constantly having to fiddle with the camera was a huge turn off. The over all design seems all right but the interface was terrible, and the Wii version was supposed to be better than the cube one.

Re: Miyamoto: "Retro Could Work with Nintendo on Zelda"
@16: I'm with you. I think Star Fox would be a better fit. Though they would make an awesome Zelda game.
Re: 3DS Ambassador Game Boy Advance Games Revealed
@98 Drake: Me too. I'd take that over FE.
Good list overall, except for F-Zero. I never could get into the 2D F-Zero games.
Re: 3DS Circle Pad Pro Reaches United States on 7th February
@22: This has nothing to do with core games. It has to do with gamers realizing they don't need this crap.
Re: Nintendo Outs Jett Rocket Super Surf for 3DS eShop
Well, considering how awesome FAST was as F-Zero clone, this will probably be awesome as a Wave Race clone. Way to fill the void Shin'nen!
Re: Kirby's Block Ball Bouncing to 3DS Virtual Console
I'd say Kirby is more the 5th pillar behind Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and Donkey Kong.
