Re: eBay Is Already Flooded With Switch 2 Pre-Orders At Ridiculous Prices

Stwert

@darylb24

To be fair, delays encountered due to the Trump tariff situation aside, I don’t think it’s all that different.
I can’t speak for orders via Nintendo themselves, I didn’t get an invite from them, that’s what being a customer for 45 years and tens of thousands of pounds gets you I suppose 🙄
But with the online and brick and mortar stores, it was pretty crazy trying to get an order in somewhere to begin with, silly random invitations from places like Amazon, stock selling out within minutes (to be expected) and some places only taking orders in-store. I mean, in-store, what sensible person still goes to half of the actual stores these days? They’re mostly poorly stocked, and full of staff who don’t know a microchip from an oven chip 🙄 or at least, the majority of the stores around here are, there’s one or two half decent ones, but the rest, I wouldn’t waste the energy to get there….. but I digress.

There were at least a fair few re-stocks, although every one of the stores I was registered with for stock notifications failed to notify me that they had stock available again. I actually got my pre-order in by pure dumb luck, I was on the website looking for something else and noticed the Mario Kart bundle was back in stock.

So yeah, I’m sure the situation may be worse in some places, just as I’m sure people in the UK had a better experience of it than I did, but it was far from perfect.

Re: eBay Is Already Flooded With Switch 2 Pre-Orders At Ridiculous Prices

Stwert

@Zuljaras

I found something extraordinarily rare during the PS5 launch, having decided I wasn’t going to get one for a while, I inevitably changed my mind (I always do, I should just give up telling myself I’m not going to bother) and needless to say they were like hens teeth when I decided to buy one.

Out of curiosity more than anything I decided to have a look at eBay, and found someone selling one at list price. Seemed to good to be true considering every other one had a stupid markup, so I spoke to the guy. He claimed to have pre-ordered two of them, his reasons are his own, but clearly didn’t need both and like myself had an extreme dislike of the scalpers and their ridiculous prices.

Again, all sounded to good to be true, but I had a gut feeling about the guy, you can often tell and I always trust my gut instincts. So what the heck, I bought it.
It cost me an extra £10 in shipping fees compared to anywhere else because I wanted next day insured delivery and sure enough, the day after launch, my PS5 arrived as promised.

It’s something I’ve never seen before, or since on eBay, with the exception of the two times I’ve sold there myself without a markup of any kind. So it can happen, but the odds of finding a legitimate, genuine seller doing it are probably too high to calculate.

Re: Major French Retailer Says Switch 2 Pre-Orders At "Historic Level"

Stwert

@WheresWaveRace

Not everyone is old enough to remember when we paid these prices decades ago, and as you rightly pointed out I was paying hundreds of pounds per game for NeoGeo 35 years ago, I’ve been paying50, 60,70, and more for PS4/PS5 games for years, so £75 for MKW doesn’t surprise me at all really.

I totally get that it’s a shock to some people, particularly when you got used to the generally lower prices for the OG Switch, and god knows these days not everyone has as much disposable income. But the cost of everything is going up, it’s not limited to consoles unfortunately. Does that make it any better to live with the notion, no, but Nintendo are hardly likely to drop the prices outside of sales.
At least physical copies will end up cheaper after a while, they always crop up in pretty good sales online.

Re: Exclusive: Shin'en Talks 'Fast Fusion' On Switch 2, Reveals First-Look Trailer

Stwert

@zander_dale

No chance of a physical release with this one unfortunately, as a smaller indie team, they can’t justify the cost of production for physical releases in relation to the sales. To begin with at least, there’s always the possibility of a limited run down the road, but initially this will be digital only.

If they want to keep going as a company maximising profits are as important as anything else for them.
It’s in these circumstances that even I don’t mind buying digital, and I’ve always been a staunch physical first gamer.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Confirmed As The First Switch 2 Title To Use Nvidia's DLSS Upscaling

Stwert

@JaxonH

And for anyone who keeps going on comparing the Switch 2 to the PS4… The standard PS4 had a dynamic 720-900p resolution with the majority of gameplay closer to 720P and a frame rate that was sub 20fps the majority of the time.

As for PS4 Pro, it had a dynamic 1188P resolution which ran closer to 1080P and below the majority of time and a frame rate which managed to hold 30fps more than the base PS4, but still regularly dropped below 20fps.

From what I’ve seen of the Switch 2 version, it blows my Steam Deck and Legion Go out of the water. Best I get from either of those is 720-800P with a lot of effects disabled and low quality on the majority of settings, in order to maintain a solid 40fps. And that’s running them at a much higher TDP than Switch 2 has in handheld mode.

Honestly, I’m genuinely impressed by what CDPR are managing with this game, and we’ve not even seen the final, fully optimised version yet.

@MK73DS

Why? I don’t think you’d be particularly happy with the non-DLSS versions quality and resolution. If they’re having to use DLSS to get it to the quality and performance level they’re aiming for, it shows that it would be worse off without it.

I’m not the biggest fan in the world of fake frames and AI upscaled imagery, but at the end of the day, so long as it looks and runs decent enough, without visible artefacts, I’ll take that over a sub-par resolution.
It’s a demanding game, I’m glad they’re able to get it running on S2 as well as they have. Not all games will have to use DLSS to achieve their goals, but at least the more demanding games will be able to run on Switch this time around.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Confirmed As The First Switch 2 Title To Use Nvidia's DLSS Upscaling

Stwert

@Jemae

Yeah, I watched that video, and y’know what, it looks detailed and fluid enough to me for a handheld system. Sure, it won’t match the PS5/SX/Decent PC for visuals, but come on, those aren’t something you should be comparing the S2 to anyway, those are power hungry home systems.

Compare it to SD/LgO/Ally if you like, that’s at least a closer comparison, but from what I’ve seen of it so far, setting expectations at a realistic level for a handheld system, I honestly don’t think I’m going to be disappointed with it.

Oh, and I was ridiculed something rotten a few months back on Reddit for daring to point out that the S2 hardware would definitely be capable of 4K60. Guess that panned out to be true, colour me not shocked in the least.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Confirmed As The First Switch 2 Title To Use Nvidia's DLSS Upscaling

Stwert

Just goes to show how ‘expert’ DF/Eurogamer can be sometimes, considering they claimed to see no evidence of DLSS in use during any of the Switch. 2 reveal trailers.
I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt seeing as we were all watching a compressed stream, but still, it highlights that the only real evidence you should trust is as it has always been, your own eyes.

I’m buying Cyberpunk on Switch 2 even though I have it for Series X, PS5 and PC, purely because I’m curious to see just how well it does run on S2 with my own eyes, obviously I like the game anyway or I wouldn’t have it on 3 platforms already. And as I’ve yet to get too far into it on any platform, S2 will quite possibly be the one I end up playing it most on.

Re: Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma Switch 2 Cart Will Apparently Also Work On Switch 1

Stwert

@rjejr

They are a much higher speed than Switch 1 cartridges, but in the same way that you can use a Micro SD Express card in a standard Micro SD reader at significantly reduced speeds, the Switch 2 cartridges will also work in that way.

This is why the Switch 2 cards have a different ‘notch’ in them, it is one of the ways in which it identifies the card type to the system and will deliver the content applicable to the system it’s inserted into.

Re: Mario Kart World's 'Free Roam' Is Much More Than Mindless Open World Driving

Stwert

I know most people will probably hate me for this, I’m prepared for the death threats, like I would be worried about that 🤣🤣
But, considering how expansive the game world is, how much there is to do in it, and obviously the typical care and attention to detail that goes into most any Nintendo first party game. Not to mention that they have pretty large teams working on their games, doing the very best they can to ensure that there’s as close to no issues as humanly possible.
Well, I for one actually think it’s worth the asking price, sorry. I mean ok, I got the bundle, so it’s even cheaper, but I would happily pay the asking price of £75…. And I know there will be those who think I’ve lost my marbles, but even though I’ll be getting a digital copy in the bundle, I will still be buying a physical copy of the game a few months down the line, simply because I like to have a physical collection.

Hardly the first time I’ve done it, got the collector’s edition of Tears of the Kingdom, never been opened because I bought it digital as well.
I already have 2 physical copies of Cyberpunk 2077, one digital on Steam and another digital one on PlayStation 5, and guess what, I’ll be buying it for Switch 2 as well, crazy though it may seem.
I honestly couldn’t count how many times I’ve done that over the years, across dozens of systems.
Madness? Perhaps, but if history has taught me anything, it’s that a physical backup copy is a good idea for the distant future.
Besides, can’t loan/sell/trade a digital copy of a game. Anyway I digress.

I may be 50 (12 according to the wife), but I’m still ridiculously excited to get my hands on this. It’s a torturous wait until the 5th of June (not to mention the wait for other games in the years to come).

Re: Best 4K TVs For Nintendo Switch 2

Stwert

Had an LG OLED for years, it was an upgrade from my Pioneer Kuro Plasma (awesome for its time) but over 200 hours of Breath of the Wild and there was permanent burn in of things like the hearts in the corner.

So I changed for a 65” LG LCD, which was a stupid decision, had it about three months before I couldn’t tolerate the black levels anymore compared to the OLED. So it’s sitting in the spare room doing nothing because I replaced it with one of the new Samsung 65” OLED’s, it was ok, but had some weird colour issues which were subtle, but once you noticed it was very annoying and I’m particularly susceptible to noticing even the slightest imperfections, can’t help it, the curse of being an (ex) engineer.

Thankfully the Samsung decided to die completely after less than 2 weeks, so there was no chance I was getting another.
Replaced it with a 65” Sony A80K OLED, which obviously uses an LG panel, but the combination of LG’s excellent OLED panels and quite simply some of the best image processing I’ve ever seen from the Sony is a sight to behold, so I’m very happy with this one….. Until someone finally releases a moderately affordable MicroLED display, then I’ll no doubt get the upgrade bug again…. Who am I kidding, there’s no doubt, I will upgrade lol

Re: Street Fighter 6 For Switch 2 Is Going For Cheap On Amazon Right Now (UK)

Stwert

@jco83

It is a bit crazy, no doubt Lexar using the Play Pro’s being the fastest of the bunch (not by all that much), to justify their pricing. That, or as seems more likely considering how much cheaper it was buying one from the USA, just cashing in while they can.

I think the 1TB card will probably be overkill for me, I buy physical games whenever that’s an option (and when they’re actually on the bloody card) but what the hell, it’ll future proof me for quite a while.

Re: Street Fighter 6 For Switch 2 Is Going For Cheap On Amazon Right Now (UK)

@jco83

Ain’t that the truth, I just ordered a 1TB Lexar Play Pro for my Switch 2 on Amazon (US import), cost £175 all in with the faster delivery option, which I’ll grant you isn’t cheap. But compare that to the UK Lexar Play Pro 256GB which costs £89.99 and it’s a bloody good buy, 4 times the storage for double the price.

Re: Sony Vet Shuhei Yoshida Says Nintendo Is "Losing Their Identity" With Switch 2

Stwert

With over 150 million device sales, the Switch showed Nintendo had made the right decision with their hybrid approach.
The Switch 2 might never reach those lofty heights, who knows, but speaking as a limited user survey of 1, they’ve given me exactly what I wanted from their next system, a Switch with a lot more power.

Many people attribute Nintendo’s successes to their experimentation with hardware, but for me it was really only the Wii and Wii U that were a bit out there, in the home market at least, and well, I hated the motion controls with the Wii and it sold a ridiculous amount of systems, I loved the Wii U but it was a major flop.

The Switch 2 is exactly what Nintendo needed to do hardware wise, now they’ve just got to get the marketing on point, which, so far so good and we’ll see how the market responds.

But for me, it’s the games that give Nintendo their true identity, always has been.

Always loved Mario Kart, probably always will. Going all the way back to playing multiplayer on SNES (3 teams of 2 usually), to decide who went and made the coffees when we were stoned…. Believe me, it was easier to win at Mario Kart than get off my butt when I was baked 🤣

I won’t be repeating that with MKW, me being a responsible grown up and all, honest 🤔🤔

Re: Zelda: BOTW Switch 2 Edition Won't Include The DLC, Nintendo Confirms

Stwert

@KoopaTheGamer

I’d like to think it could become an option, and I’d like to think the cost of them would come down enough to make it viable, but I’m not going to hold my breath yet.

There were, after all, 64GB cards planned for the OG Switch, but that ended up falling by the wayside when it became clear the cost was too prohibitive, particularly for third party publishers.

Making 128GB cartridges available would be the easy part, getting publishers to concede to the cost of them, that’s a whole other ball game. There’s technically no limit to the size of the cartridges, hell they could put BluRay to shame and push into the terabytes if they really wanted to, but can you imagine the eye watering prices? Ok, that’s entirely unrealistic, but you know what I mean.

Although I’d seriously love to see them push the size of the cartridges up at some point. Between the dedicated decompression engine in the chipset and the transfer speed of the new cartridges, there would be some amazing possibilities opened up for better quality texturing in larger open world streaming scenarios, within the overall performance envelope of the hardware, of course. But there could be some stunning games out of that combination, people are going to be somewhat surprised with just how performant this little box of tricks can be when it’s pushed, especially when the game is designed from the ground up to take advantage of the architecture, as opposed to ports from other platforms.

If your membership expires you (obviously) loose access to any of the included content from the service. Progress and saves within the game are stored in the cloud, although I don’t recall off the top of my head for how long, 6 months to a year sounds vaguely familiar, so if you re-subscribe, you’ll be able to pick up where you left off.

Re: Zelda: BOTW Switch 2 Edition Won't Include The DLC, Nintendo Confirms

Stwert

@KoopaTheGamer

I completely agree, although I do think the Switch 2 will be capable of more visually demanding games than PS4 had, whether developers choose to push that envelope with higher quality textures remains to be seen, but if they do, that’s when we’ll see games in excess of 64GB arrive.

I have no doubt whatsoever that there’s going to be games that exceed the cartridge capacity, if not now, then certainly a few years down the line.

However, I think we’d be hard to find launch window games which would exceed that capacity. Which is why games like Street Fighter 6 being a key cart game annoy me. Yes, it’s better than a code in a box, or download only game, but I’m guessing it’ll be capable of fitting on a cartridge in a playable state, they’re just choosing not to. Which is why I’m choosing not to give them any of my money. But that’s a different story.

Re: Zelda: BOTW Switch 2 Edition Won't Include The DLC, Nintendo Confirms

Stwert

@SillyG

I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that there will be a great deal of compression going on for Switch 2, it’s why dedicated decompression engines were added to the chipset after all. But there’s a limit to how much you can compress something and still achieve the fidelity you’re targeting. Games could be compressed even more back on the day because they were targeting a resolution the size of a postage stamp compared to the 4K resolution most games accommodate now. You can’t beat physics…. So far anyway

64GB is a lot of space, and great things can be achieved within that capacity. But there’s already a lot of games that exceed 120GB (and some significantly more than that), even with compression and reduced visual fidelity for Switch 2, there are inevitably going to be games which simply will not fit in 64GB of space, not without making the game look so bad it’s only ever likely to be purchased by people who don’t have any other systems, and even then, if it’s bad enough many may avoid it completely.
And that’s now, imagine how much space some games will need in 4 or 5 years when they’re pushing the envelope even further.

Re: Zelda: BOTW Switch 2 Edition Won't Include The DLC, Nintendo Confirms

Stwert

@LastFootnote

Yes, for people like us who keep their games indefinitely, Key Carts are by far worse than having the entire game on a cartridge.

But, not everyone is like us, for people who play a game and then either give it to someone, or sell it, and for people who purchase second hand games to save a bit of money, they are infinitely better than either a code in a box, or a digital only game neither of which can be donated, sold or exchanged.

My personal philosophy going forward is that any game which is simply too large to be contained on a single cartridge, but which offers a Key Cart, I’m happy to purchase it. At least then I can loan it out to friends and family, not something I’m able to do with download only or code in a box releases.

If however, the game could have been released in a completely playable form and fit within the 64GB cart limit, but isn’t, then they are not getting my money.

For me that’s the best of both worlds, choice, flexibility and still voting with my wallet.

Re: Opinion: The Switch 2 Is A Powerhouse For The Price

Stwert

@BTB20

Not all Switch 2 games are fully on cartridge, so far Street Fighter 6 Years 1-2 Fighter Edition and Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster are both confirmed as Key Cards, certainly in the UK anyway, so no game content on the cartridge itself.

Re: Opinion: The Switch 2 Is A Powerhouse For The Price

Stwert

I’ve always maintained (ever since the spec leaks started happening a couple of years ago) that the Switch 2 would be a relatively performant device and certainly a major upgrade over the first generation.

For its performance envelope, the first generation Switch actually punched well above its weight class in quite a few games. There were even ports that I never thought would see the light of day on the OG Switch. Compromises abound in many of them, of course, but for such a low performance device it has kept me more than happy for eight years now.

In fact, screw happy, there’s a story I’ve mulled over for a couple of years now, based around the birth and many months that followed, of my son. Which, If I decide to get back into writing, there’s a good chance you might see on another website. But the tldr is basically an antithesis of the many story’s written on how (allegedly) bad video games are for people and society in general. If you listen to a certain, completely ill informed segment of the media. But I digress.

With what we do know of the actual makeup of the Switch 2 hardware, and also taking into account the quality of some games on the OG Switch, I have never been in doubt, hell I was ridiculed endlessly when I made the claim that Switch 2 would have 4K 60fps games, that we’re going to be in for some amazing games over the next few years.

So no, I have no qualms about the price of the hardware at all. And if I’m completely honest, here in the U.K. at least, I don’t have an issue with the price of games, even the higher end of that scale.
We’ve been lucky for a long time that prices have stayed as low as they have.
Nobody likes it when they have to pay more for things, especially if they weren’t expecting it. But in today’s economy it’s inevitable that prices are going to go up. And as much flack as Nintendo gets, I actually applaud them for not shuttering studios, not laying off thousands of employees and for keeping salaries at a very competitive level. These are aspects a lot of people either forget, don’t consider, or just don’t care about when something hits their wallets.

Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host

Stwert

@Zuljaras
Ach, I know it’s not confirmed as a Key Cart so far (though there’s several publications that would have you believe otherwise, don’t get me started on that), but I was really just lumping in the confirmed, as well as potentials, and decided I couldn’t be bothered doing a longer list halfway through typing.

But I know how you feel, I always feel like I end up defending Key Carts (among other things), not because I’m happy about them, but in an imperfect world where digital only/key codes/any other form of software that’s locked into an account, the Key Carts are a decent enough halfway house between physical and digital.

I know it’s not something they’re ever going to implement, let alone enforce, but if it were my decision to make I’d be limiting the use of Key Carts to only software which cannot physically be contained in a playable format on a cartridge.

It’s a shame the cartridges are so expensive to manufacture, or we could at least have software split over more than one cart, even if they had to be installed from there to internal storage in order to be usable.

Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host

Stwert

At the end of the day, they’re at least better than a digital download from a storefront, or a code in a box, in that they at least let you re-sell, or give them away to someone else if you so choose.

So with that in mind, any game which would not fit onto a S2 cartridge in a playable format, therefore anything with a base size in excess of 64GB. Fair enough, I’d rather buy the Key Cart than just the download version (price dependent).

However, games which could, in their initial state entirety fit onto a cartridge, but instead choose to give us the shaft and go the Key Cart route, looking at you SF6 & Elden Ring, both of which are likely less than the usual 60GB standard install for Switch 2 as I expect lower resolution textures.
Well, those games which I want to play but have the option of purchasing on another platform which has complete, playable content on disc, I will.

We’re all well aware that physical releases are a dying medium, every platform wants to push us towards a digital storefront which they control entirely, and it will happen, just look at PC gaming. But until that day, I will continue to vote with my wallet and support physical media.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aimé Weighs In On 'Switch 2 Welcome Tour' Controversy (Sort Of)

Stwert

Reggie isn’t wrong, regardless of how much care, attention to detail and content there may be in the Welcome Tour, bundling it with the system would have been a significantly better move.

Not from Nintendos financial perspective perhaps, but as a modicum of goodwill to the Switch 2 buyers. It would have been much better PR move to have it bundled in with the console.

When you think back to the days when something as utterly brilliant, such as Super Mario World, was bundled in with a console (yes, things are very different now), a game that I have no doubt will be vastly superior to whatever is included in Welcome Tour, it’s a bone headed decision, especially when you compare it to Sony bundling in Astro’s Playroom to highlight the DualSense features.

I won’t be purchasing Welcome Tour myself, not unless it’s discovered to contain some amazing gameplay we’ve yet to see. And I wouldn’t be bothered about it being bundled either. I just think it’s a missed opportunity on their part, especially with the backlash they’re getting from some people on the pricing of some games.

Who knows, maybe they’ll change their tunes before launch day and offer it as a free download, but I seriously doubt it.

@RupeeClock

I was the same, actually stumbled onto Argos having more pre-orders by pure, accidental, chance this morning. Placed an order for the Mario Kart bundle (natch) at 11 o’clock this morning and got a confirmation email right away, but I was nervous about it being cancelled as they seemed to have stock available for pre-order for quite a long time.

But I finally got an SMS confirmation from them an hour ago, so I’m sure it’s gone through fine after all, never had them cancel a pre-order before after the text message has come.

Now I just need the 1TB Micro SDEX to come into stock somewhere and I’ll be happy…… Other than the eight week wait for launch day of course.

Re: UK Switch 2 Fans, Don't Bother Going To GAME Stores For Your Pre-Order

Stwert

Used to shop at Game exclusively for a long time, since the 90’s in fact (when our local store was still under the Electronics Boutique branding) and back in the day they were awesome.
Got friendly with the manager, who used to give me some incredible deals and a staff discount, even though I helped them out only twice when they were short staffed a couple of weekends.

But the last few years have seen them go from bad, to worse, to a word I can’t use here, ok, several words.
It’s been a long time now since I even glanced at the shop window as I pass, let alone go in, or shop with them online. Which is a shame, I genuinely prefer to support, well, almost any company that’s not Amazon whenever I can. But they just seemed to go out of their way to make it easy to avoid shopping with them.

I don’t buy many second hand games, but when I do I’ll usually go into CEX if I’m in town. I miss the good old days of independent stores, sure there’s still some around, mostly in cities or at least the bigger towns, in Scotland anyway.
Makes me nostalgic for when I had some games shops back in the day, but I was only a teenager and after a good few years I sold up. I’d love to open one again, but I just don’t think it’s a particularly good business model these days, not for current systems, and especially not for an independent in a remote-ish location. Kind of ironic that there was a much bigger market for brick and mortar stores when the industry, and market, was a lot smaller, instant delivery digital stores are not so slowly killing most of that off.

@nhSnork

Nobody said they were indispensable, trust me I’ve been gaming literally since it was commercialised, there have been some wild control methods over the years.
But as you yourself said, analogue triggers are a definite improvement over a simple button. Just as a steering wheel, pedals and gearshift are a further improvement for many people.

When it comes to gamepads, my personal preference would be to bring back the GameCube triggers. The perfect marriage of analogue and digital as far as I’m concerned, I genuinely think Nintendo should have stuck with the concept and just improved on it. But such are the joys.

Re: Rumour: Another Xbox Game Could Be Racing Onto Switch 2, It's Claimed

Stwert

@dew12333

For racing games in particular analogue triggers are much better, without them you’re either accelerating or not, breaking or not, there’s no granularity to it.
Just as how a cars accelerator and brake are analogue, having the same thing applied to the triggers allows you much better control over your speed and braking. For instance, it’s a hell of a lot easier to maintain a specific speed going round a bend, before increasing up to full speed on your way out of a bend, than it is with a digital trigger where you’d have to constantly press and release the trigger to maintain an exact speed.

Without them, the only other option would be to use the right analogue stick for acceleration and breaking, like some early PS1 games did, it’s not ideal.

And that’s just one example, once you get used to analogue triggers, they’re far more versatile than just another button.

Re: Nintendo's Surprise Switch 2 Trailer Is On Track To Surpass 20 Million Views

@progx

It’s that they’re so against Switch 2 that I don’t get, as I say, being multi platform I never really have understood the vitriolic bile some people have against other systems. What is it? Game envy? Are they peeved they can’t play games they wish they could? Or are they just generally [insert bad word of choice].

I’ve nothing against them, I have a Steam Deck and a Legion Go to accompany my gaming PC. They’re not bad wee systems at all, quite capable for what they are, even if the battery life is atrocious.

But they’re still just PC’s squeezed into little boxes, the overall experience isn’t a patch on the Switch. And I’ll be honest, my Switch gets a hell of a lot more use, still, even after all these years. Not because it’s the most technically capable system, because 1. It would be laughable to even think that. And 2. Specifications, while appealing to the techy in me, are a distant second to the actual games.
And it’s 2 why the Switch gets so much use, it’s got so many utterly amazing games that I simply cannot play on any other platform (outside of emulation, and I’d rather play the real thing).

Of course, the same can be said for PC’s and by association, the PC handhelds, there’s ample games that are exclusive to the platform. But for one reason or another, I prefer to play them on the Gaming PC, the handhelds are a means to an end in a way, they’re ahem handy when the TV is in use and you don’t want to shut yourself off in another room from the family.

There used to be a time, many years ago, when I thought that when gaming became mainstream (I always knew it would eventually) then the silly childish, playground arguments of my system is better than yours, because x stupid reason, would all end. Sadly the opposite seems to be true, not only has that nonsense not ended, it’s escalated to a whole new level.

Re: Nintendo's Surprise Switch 2 Trailer Is On Track To Surpass 20 Million Views

@progx Ffs, I dread to think why. It’s something I have to admit that I’ve never really understood, I’ve been multi platform for over 40 years now (yup, I’m ’kin ancient lol) so I’ve never really had that platform obsessiveness, well not one platform anyway. I’ve had my favourites, of course, doesn’t everyone?

But, for me at least, hardware is nice and all, I’m a techy so I do like to get into the nitty gritty sometimes. But ultimately, the hardware plays second fiddle to the software, I go where the games I want to play are and to me, that’s what’s important.

Always had a soft spot for Nintendo though, so I am guilty of watching that trailer god knows how many times, scouring it for every possible detail. And I’ll probably watch it a fair few more before April.

Will it affect my use, or fondness for my PS5, Steam Deck, Legion Go, Gaming PC, OG Switch, countless other platforms I still use for retro games, and I suppose the Xbox Series X that’s been gathering dust for years? No it will not, I mean come on, get a grip, it’s an entertainment product for goodness sake. We’re not electing grand high master of earth or anything……

… Still, you’ve piqued my interest, I may have to hop over to Reddit and stir the pot
