Re: Random: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's Body-Horror Glitches Are Going Viral

SolarisPolaris

@RubyCarbuncle Game development was way simpler back then. Smaller teams made those games.

It basically explains why there were so many movie tie in games from the 1990s to the early 2010s, but hardly seen today

Edit: Also, there were technically patches for games in the 90s, but those were repackaged instead of being able to download it into a currently existing copy

Re: The New Fire Emblem Hero Was Created By A VTuber Designer

SolarisPolaris

@Pat_trick Now I'm confused. Did you actually want a dating sim and were disappointed by FE lol?

I played these game and not once did those aspects matter in the slightest. I'm sorry you couldn't have fun with any post Awakening game because of fandom shippers.

If you want to play new "old-school" Fire Emblem, there are some good GBA romhacks out there

Re: The New Fire Emblem Hero Was Created By A VTuber Designer

SolarisPolaris

@Pat_trick Can we please stop calling post-Awakening games, dating-sims?
I've seen what actual dating sims are like, and while there are some elements FE games take from them, they are nothing close to what FE does.

You get like 4 support conversations with a character, a large number of them not romantic or suggestive in the slightest, and then you get a extremely short cutscene where you marry that particular character. That's it.

You can argue that the Teatime mechanic is dating, but I disagree. You only pick 3 correct responses and then you can give them a gift. There is no dialogue pertaining to relationships, they just give the exact save phrases over and over like a robot.

The only reason people call them dating sims is because of their annoyance of the fandom shippers outside the games. Plenty of other franchises have these shippers and you can't control them

Re: Super Mario Odyssey Mod Lets 10 Marios Play Together Online

SolarisPolaris

@steventonysmith You do realize AM2R, a game that Nintendo forced the og developers to shut down, is still being developed and available to play right now?

Nintendo can't do anything to an already released game on the internet. The only thing they can do is make the original developers to stop hosting and develping it. Doesn't stop other people from taking up the mantle

Re: Random: Wii Shop Channel Music Browser Extension (Version 2.0) Is Now Available For Mozilla Firefox

SolarisPolaris

@The_BAAD_Man He always does this. I don't know what his deal is, but Nintendo is not going to take this down. Nintendo only takes things down when,
a. the fan project is making some sort of profit
b. said product is interfering with the potential profits of a current/future Nintendo game

Rom Hacks almost never get taken down. Most of the time, advertisements of said romhack ( youtube ads, etc) get taken down, but that's it.

What sanderev does not realize is that once data is uploaded to the internet, it stays there for good. One copy becomes another and another, and they get published when the original gets removed. Reporting to Nintendo is an absolute waste of time.

Re: Introducing Super Mario Eclipse - A New Super Mario Sunshine Mod Featuring An Expanded Story And Much More

SolarisPolaris

@SalvorHardin Nintendo Life really needs to stop reporting on these mods/fan games. There are hundreds of mods for Nintendo games like Super Mario World on rom hacking websites. They are not taken down because one, they are not being heavily publicized, and two, they are perfectly legal since they only provide the patches and not the roms.

Then again, the ratio of mods over fan games getting a C&D by Nintendo is leaning heavily toward fan games.

Re: 'The Lost Records' Is A New Fan-Made Expansion That Brings Skyward Sword To Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

SolarisPolaris

@Harmonie As long as you be smart and play it safe (aka, waiting to download updates and firmwares, not installing suspicious game files), the worst that will happen is that you can't connect to Nintendo's servers. Rule of thumb though is just have a second Switch to experiment with homebrew/mods (or just use an emulator and play the Wii U version. Way less risky that way). I've had a modded Switch since 2018 and I've had no problems.

Re: 'The Lost Records' Is A New Fan-Made Expansion That Brings Skyward Sword To Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

SolarisPolaris

@sanderev Maybe, but nobody goes to jail for it, and most rom hacks/mods do not get taken down (Yes, even Nintendo's). Nintendo only takes down ones that:
1. Could/Would hurt their overall sales of a potential remake/rerelease of a game (Case: AM2R and Samus Returns)
2. Generates revenue of any kind, such as donations, ads, etc (I believe this may include publicity, though I am not sure)

If you truly believe that there any super negative consequences for downloading/playing rom hacks or mods of a game, better hide in your closet because the police are out to get ya!

Re: Final Fantasy VII's Sephiroth Gets Added To The Smash Bros. Ultimate Mural

SolarisPolaris

@backup368 What I'm saying is, a majority of people who care about Smash reveals are either ones who would've never bought the game let alone the dlc anyway, or ones who already paid for the fighters pass. From all the people I have talked/read about, only a small percentage actually wait to buy characters individually, since even if they do not care for the character in question, the gameplay usually makes up for it. Like, for instance, Steve. He might not be everyone's top pick, but he definitely is fun to play

Re: English Version Of Persona 5 Scramble Listed By Multiple Asian Retailers

SolarisPolaris

I love how people complain about P5 is not on the Switch, when this is not a new thing for developers to do. There are so many games, that have direct sequels on other platforms. For example, Kingdom Hearts has multiple games tied to the main plot, but you dont see the ogs anywhere on a main Nintendo console. Its just funny to me that Atlus gets the most hate because of a rumor about it, and ppl got their hopes up way too high.

Re: Paper Mario: The Origami King Leaked Online Ahead Of Next Week's Release

SolarisPolaris

Honestly though, I believe that the og Paper Mario and the ones after that should be separated in two sub series. The first 2 games (and techically SPM as a spinoff) as the Mario Story Series, and the games starting with Sticker Star as the Paper Mario series. This way, everyone can stop complaining about the new games to the old, as they shouldn't be compared to each other. Nintendo will probably not make another Mario Story game, unless they have a change of heart. On a related note, consider the fact that Origami King was probably in development during the Alpha Dream Bankruptcy, so it is still possible that I could be wrong about the MS series not returning.

Re: Random: Animal Crossing Players Are Filling Up Their Islands With Bugs And Fish

SolarisPolaris

@Finlderp I did that as well. I am only going to time travel when there is a building that get completed the next day. Time travel is so much easier and so much less punishing in this game. The game doesn't check for time changes after you start up the game. You can change the date forward after the game is closed, and when you have to listen to Nook's ramblings, change the date back. The game doesn't ever believe you time traveled at all, when normally, the game punishes you for going back in time. Now, this hasn't been completely tested, like what happens to turnips. It is interesting though, as time travel normally involved you having to close the game in past iterations.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 29th)

SolarisPolaris

Gonna be playing Danganronpa 2 this week. I finished the first one last week and it was so much fun to play, that I broke my own rule of 'taking a break from playing another game in the series after I finish one.'

I definitely want to replay Rune Factory 4 and Zero Collection eventually, but have no idea if I will get around to it this week.

Re: Atlus Is Releasing Persona 5 Scramble In Japan Next February

SolarisPolaris

@GameOtaku Unfortunately, the examples you just gave are not made by the same company. It is the company's decision to name a game behind a popular naming scheme (Take for example, the tendency to put the word 'Super' in front of SNES titles.) I have checked the entire Switch library for game titles that use 'S', and only found one, Dragon Quest. There is not a predetermined naming scheme for the Nintendo Switch.

To be honest, the only reason a bunch of people thought that P5S was going to be a Switch port of P5 was Atlus's decision to bunch up all their announcements regarding P5 in one year (Mostly due to Joker in Smash Bros). Also, P5S is not Switch-exclusive; its coming out on both the PS4 and Switch. The 'S' in the tease means nothing more than the abreviation of a game title they did not want to reveal until they were ready.

Re: Atlus Is Releasing Persona 5 Scramble In Japan Next February

SolarisPolaris

@GameOtaku
Wow, you own a PS3? Never would have guessed with you whining about being unable to play P5.
Sure, I was disappointed when P5 wasn't announced for Switch, but any normal person would MOVE ON.) I ended up playing 3-5 on my new systems I aquired for cheap and am curently on Q2. Sorry man, having a system to be able to play P5 and complaining about portability screams entitled. I know some people don't have the luxury of playing in front of a big screen, but you seem to not have those problems.

Re: Hold Me, There's A New Firmware Update For Nintendo 3DS

SolarisPolaris

I never understood the whole 'stability to prevent hackers' thing. Most of these updates either don't affect the current hacking process or are easily bypassed within a week (PS Vita's latest update was demolished in a day!). Even if the update cannot be bypassed, most modders are not idiots and have disabled updates, so this is literally pointless.
