Re: Nintendo Reveals the Final Club Nintendo Elite Rewards

Retro_on_theGo

These rewards are awesome! I was actually pretty upset I didn't make Platinum for the first time since I started using CN but who cares! The gold rewards are awesome for once, Advance Wars and Mario & Luigi! Wish I could have been Platinum for DKC:TF since I've been eyeing that game for awhile, but I won't complain.

Re: Review: Dot Arcade (Wii U eShop)

Retro_on_theGo

This felt more like a summary than a review and didn't really try to sell my on "why" I should pick this up. But I guess it's kind of hard to review something like this since the creator himself said it's difficult to explain this game to someone without them actually playing it.

Re: Preview: We Take Aim at Splatoon to See if It Offers the Best of Both Worlds

@IceClimbers I understand wanting to get players used to the initial game before letting them get into a ranked mode, but why not just have it on disc and let you play it when you reach level 10 instead of this? If you end getting to level 10 kind of quickly or understand the gameplay well we're gonna have to still wait until the developers decided everyone's good enough. And what if the numbers aren't satisfactory like they hope? Do we have to wait longer to get the new modes? It's just purposely with holding content at launch. I'm probably overreacting but I think they could have executed this same idea in a better way.

"Due to the ranking system and overall more competitive feel to Ranked Battle, it will not be available at launch, rather the developers will be keeping a close eye on the number of players and their levels before releasing this mode so as not to put players at a disadvantage due to inexperience. We have been assured that this will only be a few weeks if the numbers are all satisfactory."

Are you effing kidding me?! I swear I hate Nintendo more and more every. Single. Day.

I was tempted to pick this up off the 3D screenshots in the eShop alone. Solid review that really let's you know what to expect. I think I'll definitely get this if it goes on sale.

Re: Freedom Planet Bringing Its Brand of Sonic-Style Action to Wii U

Retro_on_theGo

@Extremist Actually, you got it backwards. I hate Sonic, so a game trying to emulate it's gameplay like this isn't appealing to me. But I know there's people that have been wanting a game like this since the train wreck Sonic Boom so I'm glad they'll get what they want soon.

@Tabris95 I can see that. Haven't played it so I guess I can't really judge how it plays. I just rewatched Johnny's review on this to refresh my memory and he does also mention Gunstar Heroes and some other Genisis games. Maybe I should actually give it a shot if it goes on sale cheap enough, I'm probably being too hard on it.

I first heard about this from Somecallmjohnny's review. I really dislike it. From what I've seen it looks like an exact Sonic copy and past, not a tribute or "inspired by", and the original stuff it does add in is uninspired or annoying. Not my type of game at all.

It's a good game though I hear so it's great wii u owners will finally get to try it.

The game looks so fun. I don't mind the lack of exclusive Nintendo console content, the main game is amazing enough to warrant purchasing. I'm glad we finally get to play it since I don't have a PS3 or 4!

Cool! Glad to hear people liked it. Hope the sequel as smoother animation as a lot of the moving sprites looked really rough to me. I still need to play the first one. Hopefully a big sale comes around soon with this announcement.

Re: Interview: Nintendo's Damon Baker on the eShop Team, Reaching Out to Indies and Finding Games That Matter

@Punished_Boss_84 Pokemon Shuffle isn't even a main series game, it's a spin-off. Game Freak has stated multiple times they don't want to hide Pokemon behind a pay wall. While you have many valid claims the micro transactions isn't one of them since it's like saying the Zelda CDi games affected the development of every following Zelda. The only DLC Pokemon games have are the event legends which Game Freak already gets heat for with the store tie in events, micro-transactions won't happen in main games.

Bank is annoying but Game Freak plans for it to be available for every following Pokemon game to the point where your future children will be able to use. Storing that massive amount of data and maintaining servers is not going to end up cheap. $5 for the entire year with a grace period for your pokemon to renew if you didn't take them out is fair.

Won't say the Pokemon franchise doesn't have a lot of other decisions to get easy money that can be criticized though.

Re: Nintendo to Introduce Free Software With NES and SNES Experiences Activated Through amiibo

Retro_on_theGo

This sounds very interesting! Knowing Nintendo and from the sounds of it, this will be a major missed opportunity though. This implies it will be like the dumb 3 minute demos in Smash. That's a waste. It should have been the full entire VC games that the Amiibo unlocks with limited uses like the demo's, maybe 10 uses.

Also I think there's a mistake here: "Iwata-san has acknowledged that demand has often outstripped demand"
