@Electric-Dreams Well, you’ll be pleased to know that this is the exact aim we have for the mag. Most of the team grew up and loved the humour of that era of publications (and personally, they definitely influenced my own writing) - Of course, in Wil’s case, he was part of it!
I hope that everyone will be pleased with the result - A digital (and hopefully print) mag that’ll celebrate all eras of Nintendo and its surrounding culture!
It looks like it just uses the SNES for power, and you plug the adapter's video output directly to the television? I'm pretty sure I've seen other devices that work that way in the past.
I dunno, I'd probably just stick with the Game Boy Player (with the excellent homebrew GBI software).
If Wisdom Tree were to suddenly find a copy of the Hellraiser NES game that wasn't destroyed, back from when they were Color Dreams - Then, I'd be interested.
This would be absolutely perfect for playing my Switch at my work desk! I will wait 'til units are a little more widespread though, just to make sure these units are sturdy and the bugs are ironed out
@YANDMAN According to an interview with Dylan Cuthbert on this very site (https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/06/feature_the_full_story_behind_star_fox_2_nintendos_most_famous_cancellation), the game was fully QA'ed by Nintendo and mastered.
The leaked versions that's have been available for years were not complete, and were bug fixed by ROM hackers to get it in a fully playable state (Including translating the Japanese text).
@GravyThief I occasionally lurk Looks like the SNES Mini has saved me the hassle of getting a Starfox 2 Repro! (I purchased one last year, but it stopped working after one use, so I returned it in the end). It would break my usual "no emulation" rule, but this is a pretty important exception
@KoopaTheGamer It's going to be a new game for us all - This will be the first time that we get to play the full, completely finished and officially localised version
Jeesus. Short load times were the thing I was hoping that this port would fix! Very disappointed that this is not the case, but honestly not surprised.
I'm less concerned about 1-2 Switch being a pack-in, and more concerned that there are very few releases at launch that are really taking advantage of the JoyCon featureset.
While it's probably a little too early to start panicking (I hope), it's certainly a worry for the future, and proof of why efforts to preserve this medium's history are incredibly important.
Thanks guys, this is pretty damn useful. Going to hold fire on getting a card for now, as I'm getting the physical versions of Zelda and 1-2-Switch, but I'm sure I'll need one eventually!
Seriously, though, it is a shame for those affected. Hopefully someone at Nintendo will get the message and work on a patch, or some means of changing analog sensitivity.
I found multiple Shulks instore! So pleased that Nintendo are beginning to sort out their stock issues. Fingers crossed that I see some Inklings in the wild...
@bro2dragons yes, they certainly do. Sadly, for this one you were stuck with me and I will neither deny nor apologise for my frankly awful Smash Bros. skills. I'm far too busy playing Splatoon to get better
@mjc0961 the way the game doesn't tell you anything is pretty much the point - You have to figure it out yourself! Criticising the WarioWare series for that, is like hating Super Mario Bros. for having too much jumping on platforms
@DarthKirby64 I don't have a physical copy of Mario Kart DS to test, but I think it's highly unlikely, considering Download Play doesn't work at all. When loading this VC release, you do get a message stating some features won't work as intended.
@leo13 If you watch the video, you'll see me failing to get online. You can access the DS's online connections menu, but it doesn't allow you to add a connection. Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection was shut down a while ago as well.
@mrchills to answer your questions: 1. No idea, Nintendo certainy like to do things at their own pace! 2. Definitely! 3. I doubt it - We're more likely to get Wind Waker HD - style remakes at this point. 4. Have never played Mario Golf, worth a play? 5. Hopefully, we'll see more N64 games on the way 6. I think it would be silly to expect a deluge. Nintendo will continue to dripfeed VC games, as they always have done. 7. As a Wii digital re-release? Possible, but unlikely
@Kifa I totally agree that Metroid II is in dire need of a Zero Mission-style remake. It seems to be the forgotten entry in the series, which is strange considering how pivotal it is in terms of the overall story of the non-Prime series.
These little 3D experiments of mine are just a little window into what could be done on the 3DS. My technique for converting footage into 3D is nowhere near perfect, but it at least gives a rough approximation of what could be done.
Remakes can be a very good way to package a game in a way that makes it much more palatable for those who missed it the first time around. Not all remakes are great, but the aforementioned Zero Mission is the perfect example.
@bezerker99 try loading up the Internet Browser on your New Nintendo 3DS, and browsing straight to our channel - http://www.youtube.com/nintendolife and watch the videos from there . Make sure you aren't trying to use the YouTube app to watch these videos, because it doesn't work.
@BarryDunne I'm afraid it's a little more involved than that. You have to split the footage into layers, mirror them and the manipulate the layers to add depth. It's taken many hours just to get that footage together!
@BarryDunne All you need to do it open the video in the New 3DS' Internet Browser, load the video and under 3D Display, pick the top left option (LR Side By Side)
@OMC79 You might be onto something with Axelay! E.T. though...I'm not so sure
I'm going to do more of these so long as people want them, it's limited to SNES only at the moment - Not all games are possible either, but I have a nice list of possibilities

Re: Streets Of Red Launches On The Switch eShop On 29th March
Well, that logo artwork looks....unoriginal (and that's putting it kindly).
Re: Feature: Testing The Best RGB SCART Cables Known To Humanity
@Rayquaza2510 That’s no longer the case - Tim Worthington’s RGB board works on all N64 systems.
Re: Feature: Testing The Best RGB SCART Cables Known To Humanity
@1UP_MARIO There are RGB mods for PAL systems these days, I believe.
Re: Feature: Testing The Best RGB SCART Cables Known To Humanity
@1UP_MARIO That's not entirely true - You can modify an N64 for RGB (or even with a cleaner HDMI output) and it's lovely
Re: Review: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Switch)
@Snaplocket It was referred to once in one tiny paragraph. Does it really matter that much?
Anyway, I'm looking forward to picking this up at some point - After I clear down those last 300 or so Moons!

Re: Hardware Review: SFANS Adapter For Switch: The World's First Truly Portable Dock
@johndevine I use a Hori PlayStand at the moment, but I have a decent-sized HDMI-enabled monitor on my desk that I'd love to play Switch games on

You should be playing GX instead

@FragRed Wii Remotes only, I'm afraid!
