I’m honestly canceling my preorder…this “DLC” is simply content that they’re withholding from the main game. C’mon Nintendo…why would you announce this before the game is even out?
Had this game as a kid. Couldn’t beat it then, but a few years ago I went back to it and finished it on my original NES! Absolutely adore this game. It is a part of my childhood, it is a part of me.
Parents understand this issue perfectly. With multiple children in the house (and only two switches), we decided against purchasing this game (and I loved past AC titles).
Frankly, we are a two-Switch household but with six kids (and I’d like to play too!), I decided against grabbing the game. I love AC (tremendously) but the file-save system deterred me from purchasing New Horizons.
A word of advice to those just getting into the classics: play anything before (and including) Playstation 2-era games on a CRT TV. I'm not saying that in a know-it-all "oh you simply aren't a retro gamer unless..." kind of way. I sincerely believe that they play better on a CRT TV than on a modern display.
@wazlon Thanks. I think it certainly speaks to my taste in games and maybe says a little bit about the type of person I am. It also serves as a cross section of the catalog of games I played in my youth.
@wazlon Yes I paid for most but I did get a few through Club Nintendo promotions. My second Wii was purchased used and had a dozen games already on it. This is all of them: https://youtu.be/E-v0vYWsatQ
@Crono1973 I agree. The UI is nice and, to this day, is as snappy as ever. I never transferred games to the Wii U as (on Wii U they ran in that Wii emulation shell) it just seemed like it required one-too-many steps to access.
Man...Chris Scullion trashes the NES too in his Atari Flashback review. "Once you start working your way through them it becomes clear that many of them have aged incredibly badly. We aren’t talking NES levels here, either". What's up with NES haters at NintendoLife?
I’ve been saying for years that there could be a lot of money in rereleasing old SNES games. I know several people, including myself, who keep their SNES hooked up.
@ForegroundMusic thanks for the advice. I only played the Game Gear version of shining Force and it was okay. It’s no Advance Wars, but I’d like to give the console versions a try.
@YamAsereht I’m not an emulation expert but I’m 40 years old and have been playing Neo Geo since I was 12. To my eyes, Neo Geo VC titles running through component-out to a CRT TV, look really good. The emulation shell is bare-bones compared to Hamster’s feature-rich Nintendo Switch titles, but Switch is HDMI-out only (making it difficult to plug into a CRT TV).
Time to act is now. I’m loading up points. The Wii has excellent analogue out (to a CRT TV) and really good emulation. I feel Wii VC is as close as you can get without having the original console hooked up.
Still have the collection on Wii plugged into my CRT. It plays fantastic (other than the grenade controls). A really fun series with truly great animation

It’s a masterpiece. Don’t touch it

Re: Free Switch Online Trials Are Available To My Nintendo Members (North America)
Nope…Nintendo’s subpar online service should be free for an un-“limited” time.
Re: Talking Point: The Problem With The X Button
As someone who is platform agnostic, I’ve been screaming about this for the last 20 years! Super annoying!
Re: Talking Point: Is Zelda An RPG, Or Not?
The game that “clouds” all this is actually Zelda II. NOT Breath of the Wild.
Re: Best Nintendo DS RPGs
DQ IX is REALLY good!

Just couldn’t get it to work for me unfortunately.
Re: Nintendo To Shutdown "Limited" Wii U And 3DS eShops In Select Countries
Wow. Way too soon Nintendo! The Wii U isn’t even 10 years old. Absolutely ridiculous. This makes me quite upset
Re: Random: Finally, You Can Play Dark Souls On Switch The Way Nature Intended
I never could get used to the controls on switch. I had played to many hours of the PlayStation versions

I bought a Vita

Re: Angry Players Are Starting To Review-Bomb Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Having to share an island (basically your game file) is not appealing for most parents, such as myself. The concerns could be addressed by Nintendo.
Re: Feature: Best Castlevania Games On Nintendo Consoles
Castlevania II should rank WAAAay higher...and I’ve played almost all of them
Re: "Why Make It Mini?" NES Creator Says People Would Still Buy A Regular System Today
Only if it had analog-out so I could hook it up to a CRT TV (truly the best way to play classic games).
Re: Poll: What Features Would You Want In A Switch 'Pro'?
OLED screen would be nice. The Vita screen is still nicer than the switch!
Re: Dragon Quest Builders 2 Will Have Four DLC Packs And A Season Pass
Kind of cheapens the whole Dragon quest Builders experience. First game didn’t have DLC and was great

Huh not seeing them discounted in Canada, the most “North” of North America

@AlienX I spent a bit more over the years (109 in total I think; over two consoles)
Wii Virtual Console Games:
Games on 2nd Wii
Re: So Long Wii Shop Channel, And Thanks For All The Games
@Pod good point. Not to mention the rounded corners on those 4:3 CRT icons.

I would NOT recommend transferring virtual console games from Wii to Wii U.

Re: Guide: Every Nintendo Console Ranked From Worst To Best
Lemme help you with that list son. Rest assured this will provide a much more favorable consensus:
1. SNES
2. NES
3. Wii
4. Gamecube
5. Gameboy Advance
6. Nintendo DS
7. Gameboy
8. Switch
9. N64
10. 3DS
11. Virtual Boy

Oh for heaven's sake. What millennial put this list together?
Re: Rumour: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Is Taking To The Skies On Switch
Keep it locked in the Disney vault Aonuma. That game wasn’t great (though I played through it in its entirety). I’d let it ferment a while longer.
Re: YouTube Has Officially Arrived On Nintendo Switch
Just got an email telling me that they're shutting Netflix down on the Wii January 31st, 2019. Makes me sad. I actually use still use it on my CRT tv.

Re: Reminder: Time To Purchase Wii Shop Points Is Running Out
Here are the one’s I still would like before Wii Shop closure:
NES
Castlevania III
Shadow of the Ninja
SNES
Breath of Fire 2
Final Fantasy II
Wild Guns
DoReMi Fantasy: Milon’s DokiDoki Adventure
Genesis
Beyond Oasis
Monster World IV
Gain Ground
Shining Force
