Ever since it was confirmed DOOM Eternal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons would be released on the same day, fans of both games have been creating and sharing artwork featuring Doom Slayer and Isabelle together. While we've already heard DOOM Eternal creative director Hugo Martin talk about how it's a great representation of the "amazing diversity" in games today, we're yet to hear what anyone from the Animal Crossing team thinks about this unlikely duo.
In an interview with IGN recently, Animal Crossing: New Horizons director, Aya Kyogoku briefly praised the unity of the two fanbases – mentioning how thrilled she was to see this type of communication.
I definitely do notice and have noticed that there’s a lot of Doom and Animal Crossing collaboration art and illustrations that are being posted, and as I look through them I’m in awe of how much creativity our fans have
I think because there is a common denominator of this type of communication happening between Doom and Animal Crossing fans, and also the fact that Animal Crossing is a communication game, we’re very thankful and very thrilled to see all this. We’re so excited at the same time to see how the two [fandoms] are coming together to celebrate this day.
Producer Hisashi Nogami added how it was great to see the two fanbases "hyping up" the gaming community and gaming culture in general.
So Animal Crossing and Doom — obviously the game genres are completely different. We definitely do have something in common, and that is that they’re both video games, and come from that same subculture so to speak. It’s so great to see that these two different [fandoms] are coming together and hyping up the gaming [community] and gaming culture itself. It really is a great thing to see
Animal Crossing: New Horizons arrives on the Switch on 20th March. DOOM Eternal is also being released on this date, but its Switch release has not yet been announced. If you would like to see more Doom Slayer and Isabelle artwork, see our previous post.

I'm glad we're getting two exciting releases right now. I feel like people need it especially now.
Now authorize a Doom mod where Doomguy collects Isabelle dolls, Nintendo.
If I was a dev I'd be happy too. It's free advertising for your game and it's clear people are hyped for your game too.
I love how companies are learning to appreciate each other. I am trying to get myself hyped for Animal Crossing, but what is the objective? Is it just a life simulator? Can someone just enjoy it offline or do you have to be online to really like it?
@Mince That's what I mean. In Doom you collect Doomguy dolls; I assume the same will be true in Doom Eternal. I think it would be awesome if in the Switch version of Eternal you collected Isabelles. It would certainly provide Doomguy an interesting motivation for searching levels.
Killing evil demons with kindness.
This shows how diverse the Switch's lineup is when you consider the fact that several Doom games and Animal Crossing will be on the same platform.
Plus, what better way to unwind after murdering the armies of Hell, then playing some Animal Crossing?
Even Doomguy has to unwind at some point...
I really love how two completely and utterly different games and fandoms are for the most part, getting along so well. It's really a wonderful thing. <3
i have a feeling that bethesda delayed switch version of doom eternal cause nintendo/sakura are going to reveal doomslayer for smash during summer which switch version is probably coming out during that time frame.
@Mince Well, the Switch port fo Doom Eternal is coming out later than the other versions, why not add some nice Nintendo-themed Easter Eggs?
Now before someone says that having Isabelle in a game like Doom would feel out of place, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes on Gamecube lets you shoot a statue of Yoshi and Mario.
So, it's not as out of place as you think and would give the Switch port a touch that you'll never get on the Xbox One, PS4, or PC versions.
Lets make it official! Isabelle Doom Slayer for the Doom Eternal on the Switch!
If Animal Crossing doesn't have a Doomguy NPC, why play it at all?!
I'm unlikely to spend time with either game, but these two characters together are just adorable.
Way cool, I love it when unplanned cross communication is welcomed by both developers. It would be amazing if they gave each other a wink in future updates to the game by having a cameo...for example a shop vendor in each game of the poster face for each respective game.
Hope the Switch version of Doom Eternal will have some Nintendo-exclusive content when it's released.
At least a Samus-themed costume, for example.

IGN only sharing snippets from the interview. They are not putting up the whole transcript to read. Unfortunately.
I must admit 2 of my favourite game series coming together like this has been pretty awesome, keep sharing your amazing work people!
