Re: Review: New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS)

Odnetnin

@Damo Great review, but I still have one question: what's the difficulty likes compared to other Mario games, especially the first two entries in the NSMB series? The Wii became delightfully challenging towards the end after several so-so, boring worlds, while the DS one was an absolute snore-fest throughout (all imo, of course). Based on your experiences with those two games, how would you rank NSMB2's difficulty/challenge in relation?

@cinemaxgames I already received a review code from Digitally Downloaded, but if you really are interested in hearing players' opinions, I will link you to my review once it's posted.

Re: Nintendo: Indie Developers are 'Definitely Important' on 3DS

Odnetnin

@Linkstrikesback It's fine and fun to joke about Nicalis' slowness in releasing the majority of their games, as well as the infinite versions of Cave Story they're pumping out, but I don't understand why people get so angry at them about it.

Not singling you out here at all, especially since you're not being as hard on them as some people have been. It's just that they don't really owe you a game at a certain time, even if they "promise" it. It's not like they're trying to miss release dates, and sometimes (as with La-Mulana, apparently) the situation isn't in their hands. Especially when they've already given us so many amazing titles on Nintendo services with many more coming in the near future (CS+ and NightSky are supposed summer releases, and summer isn't over yet), I see no reason to do anything but thank them for their dedication to Nintendo downloads.

Re: Review: Johnny Kung Fu (3DS eShop)

Indeed, that sums up my feelings perfectly. If only this was a WarioWare title and each Game & Watch rip-off was just one microgame. I wouldn't mind if they scrapped the beat-'em-up gameplay altogether.

To add insult to injury, or rather torture to tedium, they just ratchet up the difficulty until it becomes not only boring but impossibly cruel. Fun times.

Also, I think this pun from my review is worth repeating: "Releasing this unfinished game and charging $6 for it are Unethical Financial Operations, indeed."

@JonWahlgren Did you think it still had potential until like five floors in when you realized there were only two real types of gameplay, and both of them would soon become terribly boring? Me too.

Re: World of Goo Developers Returning With Little Inferno

Odnetnin

Ah, that's fine. Thanks for the clarification.

Between Kyle Gabler of 2D Boy (Little Inferno), Gaijin Games (Runner2), Broken Rules (Chasing Aurora), Nicalis (1001 Spikes), WayForward (Mighty Switch Force! HD), and Two Tribes (Toki Tori 2), it seems like we have all of the major Nintendo download developers from last generation latching on to Wii U, which is a wonderful thing. That's not even including the newcomers such as Frozenbyte (Trine 2) and Pwnee Studios (Cloudberry Kingdom), and the best thing is that most of these are in the launch window. This level of support for the Wii U eShop alone makes me want to invest in a console at launch.

Re: Review: Sparkle Snapshots 3D (3DS eShop)

Odnetnin

@misswliu81 Right, but have you ever done it from the 3DS? I've only ever used the mobile site on my system, and even that wasn't a very pleasant experience, so I can't imagine that you'd be able to load the desktop version very well, much less upload photos for it.

That would be awesome if it was possible, though.

Re: Review: Sparkle Snapshots 3D (3DS eShop)

Odnetnin

@tat2 Yeah, if they're saved as photos in your 3DS album then you should be able to just upload them to Facebook from there, for example. Twitter's mobile site doesn't let you upload photos, though, and I dunno about Instagram.

Re: World of Goo Developers Returning With Little Inferno

Odnetnin

@ThomasBW84 I wasn't saying that it was old news; merely that I contacted Nintendo Life with the information that it was confirmed for Wii U minutes after it was announced. That's I why I was wondering why I wasn't given any credit.

This doesn't really matter, though, so I won't mention it again.

Re: Talking Point: 3DS XL's Media Potential

Odnetnin

I'm personally completely over the 3D effect by now, even though watching Avatar in 3D on the 3DS XL might be a pretty amazing experience for the price. Not that we have 3D movies yet, or Avatar on Netflix.

@Stuffgamer1 "if you'd been able to jump with the touch screen — or even the L or R shoulder buttons — you could play through a level without changing hand positions repeatedly."

Re: Angry Birds Trilogy to Cost $29.99

Odnetnin

@James That, and you'd need a plan. If you didn't have another compatible device such as an iPod Touch (the newest of which is more expensive than any 3DS) or a Kindle Fire (the same price as the 3DS XL), then I can see how Angry Birds Trilogy might be your best option, but I still feel that Rovio is taking advantage of those people by not providing them as $2 downloads on the eShop.
