Re: E3 2012: Watch the Nintendo Press Conference Live Here

Odnetnin

I'm out of school, but sadly I'm going to be at a school during the conference. Maybe I can get on the college's Wi-Fi with my Kindle Fire during lunch break and watch it from there, as it's just a YouTube video. Don't let me down, NL/college Wi-Fi/Kindle Fire/YouTube!

Re: Diamond Trust of London Hits Kickstarter Target

Odnetnin

It's going to be a lot more than 1000, as the first 1000 are the limited editions. The rest are going to be regular editions, which will be sent out to me and everyone that pledged for one. Once he sends all of those out, then he'll still have a ton of regulars to sell on his website starting in October or November.

Re: Now You Can 'Like' Wii U on Facebook

When I made my Facebook account, it was under an alias and just for talking about BIT.TRIP. Now it has morphed into an actual Facebook account, which makes it awkward to have to explain to friends in real life that I'm under an alias.

Re: Pledge to Cloudberry Kingdom, Get It Free on Wii U

Odnetnin

Glad they made it. Didn't back, but I'm still looking forward to seeing if the finished product will be worth my cash.

On a side-note, I backed Jason Rohrer's Diamond Trust of London Kickstarter because I'm a fan of his work and he seems like a trustworthy guys, and more importantly: he was already finished with the game, he just needed funds to help manufacture it. I know that DToL is a real thing, and that made me a lot more sure about funding it. (Not saying Cloudberry isn't real, of course.)

Also, to people complaining about the title being misleading: you realize pledging costs money, right?

Re: Feature: The Evolution of Nintendo's Controllers

Odnetnin

I forgot how ugly the N64 controller was.

The GameCube controller would've been perfect if you didn't have to choose between wireless and rumble, but as it stands it's still the best Nintendo has ever produced.

The Wii Remote and Nunchuk have vast potential (as explained in the article) that wasn't fully tapped into with the Wii, imo, so here's hoping the Wii U gives them the chance to reach their full potential. The Classic Controller fills the void the lack of dual sticks on the traditional set-up left, for the most part, but the lack of wireless hurts it.

The Wii U controller seems great so far, except for the lack of rear-facing camera--c'mon, Nintendo, that can't cost too much to tack on--but overall it's pretty much the best of all worlds. I mean, seriously, it has a touchscreen in the middle! Tell me the Wii U doesn't automatically have the most versatile control options ever seen in gaming.

Re: Review: Chuck E. Cheese's Arcade Room (DSiWare)

Odnetnin

"To play, you tap the target you wish to hit. You should aim a bit ahead of where your target is moving, which is probably common sense to anybody who's ever encountered a moving object in their lifetime, but since that's all the game has to offer in terms of strategy we thought it was worth pointing out."

"There is also a section called Challenges, which sees you trying to achieve a particular score or other condition on each of the five games. The bars are set quite low here and we cleared them all the first time we tried. Our reward for doing so? Nothing, unless you count never having to play Chuck E. Cheese's Arcade Room again.
And we do."

I was reading this review while eating lunch, and twice I stopped to read these quotes aloud. These are great bits of comedic writing, Phil. Cheers.

Re: Nintendo Reveals New Super Mario Bros. 2 for 3DS

Odnetnin

This is the second time this week I've been disappointed with a new Mario announcement. Before this week I had never been disappointed with a new Mario announcement.

Might turn out to be awesome, but that won't stop me from remaining extremely skeptical.

Re: Talking Point: Lessons to be Learned from WiiWare and Beamdog

Despite the freezing issues I had with it, MDK2 on WiiWare was a superb game. There's no way that the developer didn't deserve to get paid anything for their work. Regarding Trent Oster's statements, however, I would never rule out working with a company EVER again because of one bad experience.
