Re: Game of the Year: Nintendo Life's Community Awards 2012

Although I didn't vote (partially out of laziness and partially because the only game I cared to vote for, Little Inferno, I didn't play it on Wii U), I'm really proud of the community for making Little Inferno its Wii U eShop Download of 2012. A deserving GotY if there ever was one.

@Hokori I do agree that electronic devices like the iPad probably aren't good for the development of children and may negatively impact their attention spans. But saying that you blame iPads for people's laziness was asking for a snarky response, ha ha.

You need to get less obvious with your tag lines, Phil. I could tell you wrote this review just by reading it.

Also, I laughed out loud twice while reading this: "It's an awful, awful game, and we're pretty sure we spent more time writing about it than the developers did making it. It'd be a lot cheaper and exactly as much fun to tap the touch screen with your system off."

"Even so, you have to ask yourself if it's not a better idea to simply pick up a Mark 1 Wii on the cheap - with over 100 million systems out in the wild, it's not as if they're expensive or hard to come by these days."

Exactly why no one should buy this, not even low-income families.

There was an ad for The Piano Guys before Gangnam Style and I thought it was a Piano Guys rendition of Gangnam Style and I was like "GOOD JOB INTERNET," then I realized it wasn't and I was sad.
also i downloaded the app; no HD and no USB keyboard support make me a sad panda

Re: Developer Interview: Gaijin Games Gets Drunk with Wii U Power

@JebbyDeringer That comment makes me feel angry, but instead of overreacting I will respectfully disagree with you.

@JayceJa I will respectfully disagree with you, as well.

Oh yeah and I read the interview. Gaijin has done the best job of selling me on the Wii U of anyone so far, including Nintendo.

Have to agree with Jon here. There was at least one glaring plot hole in every scene, and the ending was so ridiculously happy-go-lucky, it played out like a bad fanfic. The twist at the end also made the rest of the movie retroactively make less sense. That said, I'd still call it a "good" movie, simply for the amazing Nolan atmosphere it was able to recreate at times (the prologue/plane scene was phenomenal), and the visual majesty of many scenes in true IMAX.

I'm about to drop a truth bomb on y'all about the Thousand Year Door:

It ain't as good as Paper Mario or Super Paper Mario

Bbbut I thought we agreed on everything!

Super Paper Mario is still awesome though, in a different way. Anyone who says it isn't is probably wrong.

Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi are by no means the same, but they are similar series. I would recommend you start with Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door or even Super Paper Mario, and they're both great games (imo of course), but it's safe to say that if you like your Mario with story, characters, and RPG-lite elements, this isn't a bad choice.

I was hoping for a worthy successor to TTYD, and I held onto to that hope even when it was made clear the story was just about stars, toads, and stickers...

Thanks for being so honest, Jon. I still want it, but my expectations are lowered.

Re: Talking Point: The Challenges When Writing About Games

Sincere thanks to this article for linking me to a ton of info that I didn't have the slightest idea about before today. I clicked and read every link in this article and even clicked and read links from those articles; this is a truly fascinating subject. This article was well written and informative in its own right, as well! Great read.

Also, am I awesome for getting all the stars in my first run-through without a guide (and without backtracking iirc), so when I got to Slightly Nonsense I already had all areas unlocked? Or were they easy and everyone did is?
