Voice chat is 100% unnecessary for Splatoon. Those who really want it can use Skype. Glad I don't have to listen to people making disparaging remarks or blasting their corny music while enjoying this masterpiece. If you don't like it then go back to Call of Duty.
I have a hard time spending any money on something that I wouldn't be able to "flip" later on. Why spend a ton of money on virtual games that lose 100% of their monetary value after you purchase them? I'd rather have physical copies that I can sell or trade to a friend after I've gotten my use out of them.
@Quorthon If by awful you mean factual. You can't tell me that a vast majority of in-game multiplayer voice chat isn't dominated by garbage. You're probably one of the people who perpetuates that nonsense which lead Nintendo to making their decision to leave multiplayer chat out of this title.
No need for voice chat on this game. While voice chat is a good idea in theory, in reality we all know that 99.9% of the time you either hear someone playing their crappy music or using obscene amounts of profanity. For the very small 0.01% of us who actually use voice chat for tactical purposes there is Skype.
@akaDv8R Well yeah, you'll still need hardware to tap into what NX will provide. There may be a base NX system for those who don't already have the Wii U, but it seems to me that Nintendo is working to completely redefine how video games are being played, especially in terms of cross-platform access.
I bet the NX won't even be a physical console. It will be a cloud-based entertainment subscription service that can be be pushed out to multiple devices (e.g. 3DS, Wii U, PC, Mac, iPhone, Android, etc.).
I'm surprised at the number of people who are upset that this game doesn't offer an online mode. This game is meant to be played with your friends in the same room. Why anyone would want to play with strangers who may devote hundreds of hours into mastering the game or finding glitches in minigames to exploit against casual online gamers is beyond me. Those antics would absolutely ruin this game. Glad they're keeping it local.
Personally I don't think that Animal Crossing should be included in the Mario Kart franchise. Where's Funky Kong or Cranky Kong? I'd rather see their more classic characters be part of this game.
There's a really easy solution to this...and that's for people to not be dumb and spend more than MSRP on pre-orders from third-party websites. Unfortunately idiots will continue to pay upwards of $200 for crap like this because they "need" it.
Obviously you're having a tough time grasping the fact that E-Bay prices are already going down on the Metroid Prime Trilogy since the announcement of its release in the E-Shop. Sure, people will still want to collect them, but the vast majority of people buying the game are buying it so they can play it. Unfortunately until now the supply was so low that people were gouging consumers on the price. Now that it's being released on the VC there's no need to have to spend upwards of $300 to play it on one's own system.
@MasterBlaster Doesn't matter anymore now does it? I'm happy to see the prices plummet on E-Bay, not just because it's better for the consumer but because it's going to make some guy butthurt over the fact that he's going to have a much harder time getting $300 off of it going forward.
To those who were trying to gouge consumers with overly-inflated auction prices on E-Bay, I say "boo hoo". Get over yourselves, it's about time that all classic Nintendo games find their way to the E-Shop at bargain prices. Nintendo should be the ones profiting off of their games in the first place, not some obese basement dwellers.
I was hoping for some hints at N64 games finally making their way to the Wii U E-Shop. Sure, I can download them while in Wii mode on my Wii U, but then you don't get Digital Deluxe Promo points for it. It's absurd that N64 games still aren't in the Wii U E-Shop.
Fox McCloud, checking in. If you pre-order Super Smash Bros Wii U on Toys 'r Us' website you can get an Amiibo for free (both have to be added to the cart for the promo to work). Pretty sweet deal.
This game was more of a chore than anything else. Having to collect all of those bananas became tiresome and led to me getting bored with it. It doesn't hold a candle to the original DKC games.
On top of everything else this game offered I remember creating my own mini games and challenges, both on the solo campaign and with friends. Going solo I'd spend hours trying to beat every level on 00 Agent without taking any damage. On multiplayer I would almost exclusively stick to the Facility map and set the timer for 10"...whichever team was able to hold the bathroom when the time ran out would win the game.
It was these types of things that really set this game apart for me. In no other console game could you write your own script as much as you could with Goldeneye 64. It provided endless opportunities to make the game however you wanted to make it.
I never really understood the point of speed runs. It pretty much eliminates the fun of experiencing a game in its entirety. I guess if it satisfies that craving of beating a game in the quickest way possible, but to me it defeats the purpose of the game.

Re: Hands On: Logging More Flight Time With Star Fox Zero
So many people begging for a demo. Just go rent it when it comes out to see if you like it. Sheesh.
