Re: Nintendo Has Apparently Retired Its Gulf War Game Boy

Nermannn

The Gameboy was definitely one of the most memorable parts of going to Nintendo NYC. Always told people after about how wild it was to see.

@Sobtanian I could imagine that would bring up a lot of mixed emotions after going through something so horrific. That’s awful you had to go through that.

Re: Namco Shmup Dragon Saber Is This Week's Arcade Archives Game

Nermannn

@masterLEON yeah I’d be curious to see a review of last week’s release. Though honestly, I’ll probably pick it up along with Dragon Saber soon. They both have PC Engine versions which I’ll try out on the Mister first. I have found that some of these games hold up better in the console versions - I think I like the console versions of the original Dragon Spirit and legend of Valkrie because they are a bit less punishing.

Re: Taito & M2 Bringing Shmup Collection 'Ray'z Arcade Chronology' To Switch

Nermannn

@kurtasbestos yeah I agree that it was not worth the struggle and effort required to get that bonus game. Hopefully they just let you buy it at some point or do a full on M2 remake of the game. Agree that I prefer digital anyways. Switching cartridges is a pain, and I often end up buy digital copies of physical games I already own for the convenience. Also - that is quite pricey even for an M2 collection.

@kurtasbestos I can’t find it! Can you share the link? I believe it said Tate would be supported somewhere…. Because I always worry about that too!

Edit: here’s the link:

https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/aw/d/B0B5RQ3N8W/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_1?smid=AN1VRQENFRJN5&psc=1

Guess it was late to go up… but shipping will be roughly 190 USD! Rather than the usual 20ish dollars from Amazon Japan. Guess I’ll have to wait and see if they get that fixed otherwise I don’t wanna be on the hook for $250 just to get that Raygear code, lol

Re: Retro-Bit's GameCube Component Cable Will Save You Some Pennies

Nermannn

I have a modded gamecube That can play games off an SD card with a matching Gameboy player hooked up to a CRT. It has component inputs, but not HMDI. I’m getting these Cables so I I can play F-Zero (and other games) at the best possible picture quality on the screen this game was designed for. When all
My other consoles (PS2, Wii U, Mister) all use component, it’s easy for me to tell the difference when the gamecube can only do composite or S Video. I guarantee there are others out there who will pay 60$ For these cables when the originals consistently go for 150$ online. These will definitely sell out, so get them now if you have a set up that can use them!

Re: Soapbox: There Might Be A Bright Side To Mario's March 31st Doomsday, After All

Nermannn

Nintendo is just doing the Disney strategy of putting their IP in the vault... then releasing them again in the future to build anticipation. And now we Disney + where you can access it all. I’m thinking the classic mario 3d games are all coming to switch online eventually... they just want to make some quick cash off the physical releases first. Similar to the nes and snes mini... sell the physical consoles, make bank, then bring it to switch online a bit later

Re: Review: Dariusburst Another Chronicle EX + - A Slightly Disappointing Port Of A Modern Arcade Classic

Nermannn

Wasted opportunity to have chronicle saviors + all DLC together in one package, which is what I wanted. Still tempted to buy the Vita version, I want to play with all those cool DLC ships from
Other Franchises! Guess the steam version is a good compromise, but I truly prefer to play shmups on Switch these days. Guess there’s a chance they release Chronicle saviors at a later date... Darius is not shy about having too many releases out there; and they did the separate collections for arcade and console versions in the past. So there’s a chance!

Re: Random: Nintendo Ironically Celebrates All Mario Switch Games With Fans, Weeks Before Wiping Some From Existence

Nermannn

As other commenters have said... it is very likely that these games will be available digitally... Hopefully as N64/Gamecube/wii digital service games!! I can’t wait for more games to use these emulators; I think we will see N64 at least this summer. And when GC comes out.. hopefully we get a doshin and Captain Rainbow localization! Then Mario 35 can come out again in 5 years as Mario 40,45, etc so it’s something to look forward to. Nintendo will find a way to keep us playing old games, I’m sure of it

Re: Review: Bravely Default II - An Excellent Old-School JRPG That's Happy To Play It Safe

Nermannn

I’ve played both of the 3ds ones... loved the first one (didn’t beat it) liked the second one (didn’t even make it half way through). And I’m gonna by this one and play for maybe 20 hours. I’m okay with that, as I mainly want to experience the characters art style and world of this one. I rarely beat a JRPG, but I still love my time with them. I did finish Persona 5 though
