The Gameboy was definitely one of the most memorable parts of going to Nintendo NYC. Always told people after about how wild it was to see.
@Sobtanian I could imagine that would bring up a lot of mixed emotions after going through something so horrific. That’s awful you had to go through that.
Excited to play this and All the other TATE mode shmups with my little Espgaluda arcade stand from limited run (whenever they ship it out). I have a profile set up for all tate mode games so it’s easier to jump into those games with my flip grip.
@PessitheMystic I was confused, too… I think this is a different, slightly cheaper package (with fewer game variants) than the arcade chronology version coming out from strictly limited. Not sure why they are releasing two very similar version, though.
I just bought metal black arcade archives… I love the game so it may be worth a double dip on a sale. I do love that so many saturn games are getting re-released!
When the switch eshop inevitably shuts down. These games will be on the list of “grab them before it’s too late!” They are for people curious about Nintendo history. I like donkey Kong and the punch out games for the Tate mode feature as well
@Ralizah I’m in the same boat! Maybe the release of volume 2 will come along with a digital sale of volume one finally. I think I’ll get the physical of volume 2 mainly for the definitive version of card fighters (which I already have digitally, of course)
I’d also love another game in this series on the switch! Or put them on a DS switch online app. Playing through the original Ouendan this past month and it still holds up!
I’m worried that snatcher / lunar / popful mail will not be offered in English - though on the last genesis mini, all (?) games great had a localized version see included on the Japanese version of the mini console.
Also crossing my fingers for Keiko flying squadron and Robo Aleste!
@masterLEON yeah I’d be curious to see a review of last week’s release. Though honestly, I’ll probably pick it up along with Dragon Saber soon. They both have PC Engine versions which I’ll try out on the Mister first. I have found that some of these games hold up better in the console versions - I think I like the console versions of the original Dragon Spirit and legend of Valkrie because they are a bit less punishing.
@kurtasbestos yeah I agree that it was not worth the struggle and effort required to get that bonus game. Hopefully they just let you buy it at some point or do a full on M2 remake of the game. Agree that I prefer digital anyways. Switching cartridges is a pain, and I often end up buy digital copies of physical games I already own for the convenience. Also - that is quite pricey even for an M2 collection.
Guess it was late to go up… but shipping will be roughly 190 USD! Rather than the usual 20ish dollars from Amazon Japan. Guess I’ll have to wait and see if they get that fixed otherwise I don’t wanna be on the hook for $250 just to get that Raygear code, lol
That’s wild, but thanks for the heads up! Loved this game and played it on steam when I worked over-nights about a decade ago. Can’t wait to see it on the switch Oled screen!
Will this new game have dual stick controls? I like the old games, but I think they would be more fun if they weren’t using that outdated control scheme.
@nukatha there is a cool option out there to play Virtual boy games on an Oculus Quest. Requires Sideloading an app, but if you can figure it out, there’s a nice Virtual boy emulator that displays the games in 3d! I had a virtual boy back in the day and I’ll say the Quest does a great job of recreating the experience!
I have a modded gamecube That can play games off an SD card with a matching Gameboy player hooked up to a CRT. It has component inputs, but not HMDI. I’m getting these Cables so I I can play F-Zero (and other games) at the best possible picture quality on the screen this game was designed for. When all My other consoles (PS2, Wii U, Mister) all use component, it’s easy for me to tell the difference when the gamecube can only do composite or S Video. I guarantee there are others out there who will pay 60$ For these cables when the originals consistently go for 150$ online. These will definitely sell out, so get them now if you have a set up that can use them!
I would Love if they ported 360 Cave shooting collection to the switch... that would be an expensive instant buy for Me. I’ve almost pulled the trigger on a modded 360 just to play these games.
Hoping they release the Dreamcast game next! Rainbow Cotton. It was a cool 3d Starfox-style rail shooter. Awesome graphics and design, though the controls weren’t great and it never got an English translation. Could be fun to revive it!
Pleasssssse come out with a light gun for switch! I love all the rail shooters on Wii. Not sure how well the tracking is on switch... but I would love to get a lightgun and a ton of these sorts of games on switch!
@HIGHscores85 agreed! More ports that actually use the 3ds effect! 3ds is my favorite play to play shovel knight for this feature. It looks sooo great on those pixel art games. Loved all the 3D sega releases and I’d love if indie studios kept em coming!
I spent tons of hours on MH4 ultimate, and no other monster Hunter games since. This seems like a good jumping back on point but I just don’t know if I have the time to get sucked into the monster Hunter addiction loop these days!
I’ll probably buy this on Switch and Xbox. Already own the PS4 version, but I wanna play portable and in 4k on the series X. Also I really want a remaster of the 3rd game , so the more copies are sold, the more likely that is!
Nintendo is just doing the Disney strategy of putting their IP in the vault... then releasing them again in the future to build anticipation. And now we Disney + where you can access it all. I’m thinking the classic mario 3d games are all coming to switch online eventually... they just want to make some quick cash off the physical releases first. Similar to the nes and snes mini... sell the physical consoles, make bank, then bring it to switch online a bit later
Wasted opportunity to have chronicle saviors + all DLC together in one package, which is what I wanted. Still tempted to buy the Vita version, I want to play with all those cool DLC ships from Other Franchises! Guess the steam version is a good compromise, but I truly prefer to play shmups on Switch these days. Guess there’s a chance they release Chronicle saviors at a later date... Darius is not shy about having too many releases out there; and they did the separate collections for arcade and console versions in the past. So there’s a chance!
As other commenters have said... it is very likely that these games will be available digitally... Hopefully as N64/Gamecube/wii digital service games!! I can’t wait for more games to use these emulators; I think we will see N64 at least this summer. And when GC comes out.. hopefully we get a doshin and Captain Rainbow localization! Then Mario 35 can come out again in 5 years as Mario 40,45, etc so it’s something to look forward to. Nintendo will find a way to keep us playing old games, I’m sure of it
I’ve been playing mine recently! Mostly lightgun games like Sin and Punishment 2, Ghost Squad (Wii) and Duck Hunt on VC. Oh and I’m playing Sonic colors for the first time. The graphics and music in that game are excellent!
I love the rail shooter genre, but can’t think of one in the past decade that got decent reviews. I also love lightgun games in general and wish there were more of them. Oh well, I’ve been enjoying sin and punishment 2 on Wii U VC recently. Crank the difficulty down to Easy and you are sure to have a great time with that one for 20$!
I’ve played both of the 3ds ones... loved the first one (didn’t beat it) liked the second one (didn’t even make it half way through). And I’m gonna by this one and play for maybe 20 hours. I’m okay with that, as I mainly want to experience the characters art style and world of this one. I rarely beat a JRPG, but I still love my time with them. I did finish Persona 5 though
@Why_Do_I_Exist what was scary about it? Makes me want to check it out haha. I love a good racing game, and hot wheels levels can be fun. I’ll probably give it a shot.

Re: M2's 'Kyukyoku Tiger-Heli Collection' For Switch Has Been Rated By The ESRB
@stuntz0rZ very true… they should offer an English update to the Japanese versions to value their early supporters. I’m in the same boat.
Re: M2's 'Kyukyoku Tiger-Heli Collection' For Switch Has Been Rated By The ESRB
@GrailUK if the games list is correct, it is. The DLC added the console versions of the main games as Guardian/Get Star as well.

I hope they bring over all these shottrigger releases! Having the menus in English will be nice to more easily tweak the settings
