@PikminMarioKirby amazing how many people are reading your comment and thinking you're butt-hurt when you're only mildly criticizing an inconsistency (and you're 100% correct, for that matter).
Still unable to find the unofficial Pokemon game that I played on Windows 98. r/tipofmyjoystick couldn't find it, Bulbapedia doesn't know if its existence, nothing on Google or anywhere else I've checked. It was turn-based and attempted to replicate Yellow Version, and may have been built in an old version of RPG Maker, but not sure.
The biggest difference outside of graphics was that the trainer had a health bar, and after your last Pokemon fainted, you could punch the opponent's Pokemon and sometimes still survive the encounter without fainting. At the end of Viridian Forest, you'd fight Team Rocket, then a pop-up would say that you had reached the end of the demo, and to look forward to a full release.
If we assume that they are using something pretty close to Nvidia's off-the-shelf Tegra offerings with no major changes, the Tegra Orin seems the most likely candidate. Optimistically, they'd use the Orin NX 16GB variant, which has 8 ARM Cortex-A78AE cores at up to 2GHz, twice as fast as the A57 cores in the Switch's Tegra X1, without even accounting for architectural improvements and larger cache, and that will help a lot in games that aren't GPU-limited, including emulated ports from Gamecube, Wii/U, and other platforms. RAM is up to a maximum of 16GB LPDDR5 w/ 102.4GB/s bandwidth, 4x what the Switch has. The GPU on Orin NX 16GB has 1024 shaders up to 918MHz, 1.88 TFLOPS FP32, est. 2.9x as powerful as the Switch without accounting for DLSS. Only problem with that chip is that it maxes out at 25W, but that may be possible docked with slightly upgraded cooling.
Alternatively, they could use the Orin Nano 8GB, with only 6 cores at 1.5GHz (still a significant upgrade), same GPU at a lower clock speed (est. 2x Switch performance), up to 8GB LPDDR5 with 68GB/s bandwidth (~2.65x Switch), and only a 7-15W TDP. But there's no reason they couldn't use the Orin NX, slow it down to Orin Nano speeds when undocked, and then later release a Switch 2 Lite / Focus Lite based around the Nano. Nintendo would be very unlikely to use anything newer than Orin, as Nvidia Thor uses ARMv9.x that is not fully backwards compatible.
@Anti-Matter iirc the dev said he only worked directly on the PC version, and contracted with Digerati to port it to other platforms, but was never even allowed to beta test the other builds. So I think maybe Switch has the worst performance, but other ports are probably still buggy. Only PC had any quality control from the actual dev.
People often tell me that they never had trouble running out of items, and that it encouraged exploration, and I'm like, "HOW???" I would pick up as many weapons as I could find and still end up with 0 left when fighting pretty weak enemies. The durability mechanic actually made me avoid exploring anything that didn't look like the critical path, as I was so averse to getting into an unnecessary fight and losing too many weapons in a short time. I know I'm in the minority and most of you weirdos love it, but LET ME TURN DURABILITY OFF!!!
Give me a giant 3DS where the top half pops off and sits on a Switch Dock. Then have the bottom half's screen either mirror the top screen or operate independently. Bottom half could have dual cartridge slots for Switch and (3)DS games, and could even take over Gamepad functions for any future Wii U ports (or just patch them into existing ones).
@EriXz I don't think the fan who discovered/published this will get a C&D, Nintendo usually reserves those for fan games (especially ones asking for financial support), or for videos about emulating Switch games. It's not impossible but this probably isn't something Nintendo cares about.
Before Smash started referring to that design as Toon Link, my friends and I would refer to him as "Hero of Wind Link" to differentiate from "Hero of Time Link" in OoT, sometimes shortening to "Wind Link" and "Time Link."
Best games that are still exclusive: Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Nintendo Land, Paper Mario Color Splash, Xenoblade Chronicles X
Non-exclusives that are best on Wii U: Twilight Princess HD & Wind Waker HD, NES Remix Pack, Yoshi's Woolly World, Scribblenauts Unlimited & Unmasked (some features removed on Switch).
Other Honorable Mentions: Game & Wario, Splatoon 1, Star Fox Guard/Zero, Smash Wii U
But probably the best features of the Wii U are unlocked by modding it. My favorite thing to do with mine has been playing DS games on the big screen. With homebrew enabled, you can inject more DS roms into Virtual Console, and also add new screen modes. The ability to play a couple Triforce arcade games in Nintendont is also a cool party trick!
@Ralizah that was my reaction too. not everything looks good in low-poly 3D, and this would look a lot better with sprites or more polygons, maybe with cel shading.
Nintendo Life should stop shilling for Hyperkin. Everything I've heard about this product and seen in reviews has indicated that the emulation is poor quality and GBA compatibility is disappointing. If you want to play GB/C/A games on a TV, the best solutions are Game Boy Player with GBI homebrew, the upcoming Analogue Pocket, software emulation with mGBA or similar, or MiSTer FPGA. Hyperkin is a bad company with products that range from awful to decent, and nobody should give them their money.
Not that all of the 99 games need to be for anniversaries, but since this year is the 35th anniversary of Zelda, we need a Zelda 99. Metroid 99, Castlevania 99, or Kid Icarus 99 would also be appropriate, as they were also 1986 releases. Outside of Nintendo, Adventure Island, Arkanoid, Alex Kidd, OutRun, and Wonder Boy were also 1986 releases.
For 30th Anniversaries, we could have a Sonic 99, or F-Zero 99 as others have mentioned (and a Super Mario World 35 would also be a fitting replacement for the original Super Mario 35).
I'm just gonna keep doing these in 5 year increments because it's easier than trying to imagine every possible 99 game. For 25th Anniversary, a Crash Bandicoot 99 would be neat, and maybe a Mario Kart 6499 or Super Mario 6499.
20th Anniversary of 2001 Games: Crazy Taxi 99 (who can last longest, idk how to make it more competitive), Luigi's Mansion 99 (vacuumed ghosts get sent to opponents' screens), Pikmin 99 (who has the most Pikmin at the end of a time limit?), Super Monkey Ball 99 (compete for most bananas, add enemies that can be jumped on?).
15th Anniversary of 2006 Games: Blazing Angels 39, New Super Mario Bros. 99
10th Anniversary of 2011 Games: Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing 99, Dark Souls 99 (with enemies from sequels and spinoffs included, I wanna see streamers getting wrecked by like 10 Cleric Beasts while Sif dances in the background)
5th Anniversary of 2016 Games: Rocket League 99 (framerate will be in the single digits), Superhot 99, Overcooked 99.
For things that don't have big anniversaries this year, I'd like a Shovel Knight 99, Shantae 99 (with Pirate's Curse mechanics and artstyle), Contra or Gunstar Heroes or Alien Hominid 99, The Messenger 99, Double Dragon/Kunio 99 (with the River City Girls playable), TMNT 99, The Simpsons 99, Hyrule/Fire Emblem Warriors 128 (split evenly into 2 or more factions), and Star Fox 6499.
Devs, I expect the finished cartridges or download codes on my desk by Monday.
@Skunkfish absolutely, I can replace those. Can't always replace lithium or nickel batteries. I want long term reliability more than short term convenience.

Re: Nintendo Reportedly Showed 'Switch 2' Demos To Developers At Gamescom
@Scoopz was that in another leak? I hadn't heard that, but T239 with 8 Cortex A78 and 1536 CUDA cores would be a pretty nice upgrade!
