Back in July, Level-5 announced the Switch would be receiving the original Yo-Kai Watch game later this year.
While there's been no mention of a local release just yet, Level-5 has been sharing small details about this version via Twitter. The latest reveal is the addition of online battles, this will also cover local battles, so you can play with nearby friends or opponents far away.
Yo-Kai Watch will arrive in Japan on 10th October. To get a better look, check out our previous post featuring the debut trailer.
In related news, Level-5 recently announced Yo-Kai Watch 4 would be released on the PlayStation 4 in the near future – officially ending the series' run as a Nintendo exclusive.

Been enjoying the original on 3DS recently, given I haven't played it until recently, I like it. If my friend had this game and the Switch version has a local release, I wouldn't mind online battles given my friend and I play online together.
Can’t wait for this game on Switch. Hopefully it gets localized soon. I’m also excited for Yo-Kai Watch 4 too.
...I hope that gets localized as well too.
@spicyburrito16 Yo-kai watch is confirmed to be localized sometime next year
I'm more worried about whether they'll fix the map system. The lack of the ability to place markers made the original just about unplayable
@spicyburrito16 Yo-kai watch 4 I meant
Nice, I very much enjoyed WiFi battles on YW2.
Actually just kind of discovered this series relatively recently I picked up three of the four 3ds titles (I still got a find a physical copy of YoKai watch 3) I really enjoyed what I played of the first one so far
Yo-Kai watch is better than Pokémon.
@Likethepear Some of them especially the original yes. Dark side series is completely messed up. My opinion
@Likethepear This exactly.
Yo-Kai Watch 1 is already localized, so why not just release the Switch game world wide?
Level 5 is just so stupidly ignorant sometimes! And then they wonder why Yo-Kai Watch franchise keeps failing in the West. /shrug
My son was all into Yo-Kai Watch, had the real watch with medals and all, but the problem is that we in the West were years behind Japan and we never got anything beyond season 1 of the animated series either.
If you want to have a bigger success with the franchise, you have to release it globally, which offers a more efficient marketing campaign and distribution.
Not make everyone excited globally about a Yo-kai Watch game, then only release it in Japan and wait several years to release it in the West and then wonder why hardly anyone buys the game, simply because they gave up, forgot about it and moved on. /shrug
That’s an Artwork for Yo-kai Watch 2 LOL
Still not sure how the battle system would work on the switch... is there already any footage of that in the internet?
