Re: Talking Point: Are Retro Repro Firms Exploiting Demand With Shoddy Products?

Nagi

Seems like Reproduction Cartridges are a real gamble.
I once bougth a translated Mother 3 Repro, but everytime i used a specific Attack during Battles the Game crashed.
A few months later i got another one from a different seller and the difference in quality was really surprising. The built quality was much higher, it didn't use a battery for saving data and everything worked without a hitch.

Re: Sorry Nintendo, But The 3DS Really Is Dead Now

Nagi

@gamefreak77
That's a very weak argument. You can't compare Revenue from two different Systems at two different time periods.

In Q1 2016 the Switch was still one year away from being released, so of course people would buy a Wii U if they want a Nintendo Home Console since there was no other option.

Q1 2019 was 2 Years after the Switch Launch and with the System being a Home Console and Handheld Hybrid it of course overshadowed the 3DS. But despite that it continued to get support for over 2 Years. Can't say that about the Wii U which got ditched pretty much immediately after the Switch launched.

Re: Sorry Nintendo, But The 3DS Really Is Dead Now

Nagi

@skywake "From a "player perspective" what does it being in stores matter?"
People who want to get the System can still buy it and Games they would like to play on it, so why shouldn't it matter? Also 200,000 consoles sold between April and June isn't even that bad like many would believe. I think seeing Software Sales during this period could be more interesting, but sadly they're not included in this article.

I'm well aware that Hardware sales are going downward from here, especially with the Switch lite Release around the corner, but until then i don't consider the 3DS completely dead.

Re: Sorry Nintendo, But The 3DS Really Is Dead Now

Nagi

@skywake
"I don't get why people can't accept the fact that the console is pretty dead now, at least from a retailer perspective. It just is."

Maybe because we're not retailers? Players perspective is different in comparison. In general a system could be considered dead under a lot of different circumstances like Software Support, Hardware Availability, Online Stores / Connectivity, etc...

Like i said, the 3DS is on it's way out, but before it vanishes from Stores completely, like the Wii U and PS Vita for example, i don't think calling it dead is the best term to use.

Re: This Might Be The Actual File Size For The Spyro Reignited Trilogy On Switch

Nagi

These half baked physical releases are the worst, even for People who prefer digital Games. What even is the Point? Just to save a bit of space on your SD Card? Wouldn't it be more logical to buy a bigger SD Card instead of juggeling incomplete Game Cards every time you want to play something different?

If people prefer digital Games that's fine, but these incomplete retail games are doing non of us any favors.

Re: Resident Evil 5 And 6 Shamble To Switch This October

Nagi

Me: I really hoped RE4 would get a physical release on Switch.
Capcom: A physical release is comming to Switch!
Me: Really? That's great! I'm definetly gonna...
Capcom: Oh by the way, it's only getting a US Release.
Me: What, again? Well, at least i can import...
Capcom : It also contains RE5 and RE6 for a total of 60$.
Me: That's a lot of Money for these old Games without extra Switch Features. Still could be a nice physical collection...
Capcom: And RE5 and RE6 are Download only.
Me: You're kidding me, right? Can't i just buy RE4 alone?
Capcom: Nope.
Me: I really hate you...

Re: We've Re-Translated That Pokémon Sword and Shield Interview Quote

Nagi

@Pokefanmum82 This is my favorite kind of argument. It just screams "Stop criticizing my beloved franchise, it hurts my feelings". You're adding nothing to this discussion.

If you really like Pokémon Sword & Shield from what we've seen so far you should tell the community why you feel that way. Same goes for everyone who dislikes the Game. That's why websites like this one exist.

Re: The Wii U Just Received Its First Firmware Update For 2019

Nagi

@Timsworld2 Well, maybe you could enjoy you're games even more if you share your enthusiasm for something you like with other people from time to time (this is a website for Nintendo fans after all) instead of hoping people who make mistakes lose their job, but let's end this conversation.

If you're happy with your hobby the way it is i guess that's all that should matter to you, but don't be surprised if that kind of attitude backfires later. Best of luck to you

Re: The Wii U Just Received Its First Firmware Update For 2019

Nagi

@Timsworld2 If you enjoy games it sure isn't obvious from reading your comments. If you do you wouldn't constantly insult developers and wish for them to go bankrupt because they did something you're upset about. At the end of the day i couldn't care less about a random person on the Internet, but such negativity and hate is much more common these days among Players and i think that's rather sad.

Re: Sega Not Worried About Overwhelming Audiences With Retro Content

Nagi

@John_Deacon Are you sure about that? Even after downloading the newest update games like Sonic 1&2, Gunstar Heroes and Mean Bean Machine feel way off to me compared to their Sega Ages or 3D Classic versions. Maybe i'm doing something wrong, but the majority of these games still don't feel right.

Re: The Wii U Just Received Its First Firmware Update For 2019

Nagi

@Timsworld2 You seriously take every opportunity to complain about this, do you? Pretty much all off your comments are hate filled. I wonder why you even bother playing Nintendo games or video games in general if they only make you angry and annoy you constantly .

Re: Sega Not Worried About Overwhelming Audiences With Retro Content

Nagi

@Hordak The Mega Drive Collection is pretty much like a collection of roms. You get a great amount ot titles, but they're not emulated 100% perfect. There is also a pretty big input delay while playing the games. This collection also supports online multiplayer, but i never tried it for myself.

Games from the Sega Ages Lineup are pretty much enhanced ports specifically made for Switch. In Sonic the Hedgehog for example you can use the Spin Dash and Drop Dash from later Sonic Games.

You can also pick between the japanese, international and Arcade version, each with their own differences. There are also online leaderboards and challenge modes.

The Sega Ages games are rather expensive compared to the Mega Drive Collection, but they offer extra features and are not just a simple rom dump. I bought a couple of them so far and highly recommend them.

Re: A Book Celebrating The Life Of Satoru Iwata Announced For Release In Japan

Nagi

@Timsworld2 You know that thing called Google, right? If you really want an answer i'm sure you can find it in a couple of minutes.

While even i think the reason for including region lock on 3DS and Wii U makes not much sense, it's still better then saying stuff like "Iwata hated us players and wanted to screw us over".

But judging from your past comments it seems like every person who does something you don't totally agree with is absolute scum anyway.

Re: Spyro Reignited Trilogy To Require Additional Download In North America, But Not Europe?

Nagi

This is really annoying. If the european version doesn't require any downloads, why couldn't Activision just tell us?
And if you have to download the other 2 games they surely did know that right from the beginning. So why did they not add that "Download required" notification to the european boxart right from the start?

Final Fantasy X/X-2 did the same thing in germany. The boxart on Amazon didn't mention that a download is necessary anywere when preorders went live, but a couple of weeks later they changed that.

I wouldn't get my hopes up to high for Spyro in Europe. The product description on Amazon Germany says part 2 and 3 require a download. But at the end it says "Only Game 1 is on the DISK", so it looks like they just copied that over from the other versions. At the end it's still a mystery.

I wish publishers would just be honest about things like this, but instead they seem to think it's fun for us trying to figure out if we're getting a complete product or not.

Re: Limited Run Announces Multiple Physical Game Releases For Nintendo Switch

Nagi

@Timsworld2 I think the Persona Q2 DLC is pretty harmless at the end of the day. Most of it are game breaking Sub-Personas, so if you wanna blast through the story with no effort have at it. It's not like they're enhancing the experience in any way, since the game is rather balanced to begin with and has 5 difficulty options you can change at any time. It also doesn't look this all those DLC pieces took long to make. They have been available for months in Japan, we just got them all on release day over here.

And again, Atlus is a company who trys to sell a product and not a charity organization. Doesn't matter which developer/publisher you're talking about, if they think the product they're trying to sell will make losses rather then profit they think about ways to mitigate this.

Re: Limited Run Announces Multiple Physical Game Releases For Nintendo Switch

Nagi

@Timsworld2 You're really overreacting.
It's not hard to get why the game didn't sell well. Since Persona Q2, an Etrian Odyssey style game which are pretty niche anyway, released at the end of the 3DS lifespan it's no wonder the game didn't fly off the shelves. Even in Japan the 3DS was pretty much done at this point.

It's also clear now that you didn't play the game or took a closer look at it at all. I already played it for 15 hours and can definetly say it was made with love and care. It feels like they really wanted to improve on the first Persona Q, even though they knew a sequel wouldn't sell well by the time it's finished.

Also nice to know that you think developers are idiotic clowns because their game didn't sell well. The people who made critically acclaimed games that didn't sell well like Okami and Zero Escape sure are dumb jerks.

Looks like english speaking players can be really whiny about the lack of an english dub. European players hardly get any games dubbed in their native language. If i refused to buy games just because they're not fully translated into german i would've missed out on a lot of great titles. I still can understand why people are upset because there is no english dub, but seriously, stop acting like the game is disgusting and the people who made it are the biggest scum that ever lived on earth.

Also thanks for trying to make me feel bad because i bought a game i was really looking forward to and i'm enjoying a lot right now. You must be a really likable person

Re: Limited Run Announces Multiple Physical Game Releases For Nintendo Switch

Nagi

@Timsworld2 Can't believe so many people are still that mad about the lack of an english dub. Just like you said, Persona Q2 sold very poor in Japan, and that's the reason we didn't get an english dub.

At the end of the day Atlus is a company who want's to sell a product. They have to think reasonable about about game localization. Persona Q2 barely managed to sell 10000 copies in Japan, so do you really think it would get better sales over here? Also making an english dub for a game with so many character voices would be very costly and possible delay the western release even further and Atlus would make a lot of losses. Don't think for a moment companys release games because they love us so much and want to make sure we're happy above all else.

And if you're calling Persona Q2 an insult to the 3DS because it's only dubbed in japanese you should really reconsider how you think about games. I bet you didn't even play the game, because if you did you knew it's very fun and polished. But i guess whining about stuff you don't understand is way easier for the majority of gamers these days.

Re: Atooi Collection Keeps The 3DS Alive By Throwing Five Games On One Physical Cart

Nagi

Gorgeous box art? Seriously? It's fine, but calling it gorgeous is really far-fetched.

I usually like Limited Run's releases, but this collection seems pretty pointless to me. It feels like they thought "We can't stand Persona Q2 being the last physical 3DS game, let's release something quick and easy after that".

Sorry for beeing so negative, but this really isn't the final release the 3DS deserves in my opinion.

Re: Limited Run Announces Multiple Physical Game Releases For Nintendo Switch

Nagi

Sooo, that's the final physical 3DS release? Pretty underwhelming. God forbid a fantastic game like Persona Q2 being the last physical release, let's pump out a collection of some 3DS eShop games.

And by the way, i'm not calling the games in the Atooi collection bad, but this is a very weird choice. I thought if Limited Run went through the trouble of publishing a 3DS game for the first time so late in the systems life it would've been something nobody saw comming. Well, i guess nobody expected this collection, but i'm sure nobody screamed "Oh please release a Atooi collection physical on 3DS.

Sorry for this litte rant, but the 3DS is my favorite system off all time and i thought Persona Q2 was the best swansong possible for Nintendo's last traditional handheld.

Re: Aussie Physical Release For Naruto Switch Trilogy Includes Download Code For All Three Games

Nagi

Even though i'm not a Naruto Fan this whole situation about download codes in retail games gets worse every day.

If you prefer digital games and want you're entire game collection to be download only that's okay. Still there are many players who prefer physical releases because they like to collect games, want to trade them with a friend or simply want to save space on their SD card.

So what's the point of a physical release that contains absolutly no physical game? I can understand if small developers go this way, but in this situation we're talking about Bandai Namco. They could have used a bigger game card, but decided to cheap out and act like "No, we can't afford such a large Switch game card, let the customer buy some extra storrage space, that's not our problem".

For me this is the absolute worst in terms of physical releases.

Re: Feature: A Pokémon Retrospective: Generation 7 - 2016 To 2019

Nagi

I just noticed something.
The only real new Pokémon spin-off during this Generation was Pokémon Quest, which has to be the bottom of the barrel in terms of Pokémon Free-to-Play Games.

Pokémon Tekken DX is just an updated Gen 6 title and even Detective Pikachu isn't a real Gen 7 game, since the first 3 chapters of the story were released during Gen 6 on the japanese 3DS eShop only.

What happened here, Game Freak? Pokémon used to be full of creativity. It feels like those days are completly gone.

Re: Feature: A Pokémon Retrospective: Generation 7 - 2016 To 2019

Nagi

@TheFanatic Maybe it's ignorance, but i just don't feel the need to watch the current Sun & Moon episodes. I'm not trying to come across like a hater and i believe you when you say there are many great episodes during the Sun & Moon story arc.

It's just mainly the style of of these new seasons i don't like. And as i said, Pokémon Sun & Moon were a big disappointment for me at the end, so it's not really compelling for me to watch an entire story arc based on these games.

Re: Feature: A Pokémon Retrospective: Generation 7 - 2016 To 2019

Nagi

I have very mixed feelings about this Pokémon Generation.
At first i really liked Pokémon Sun & Moon a lot. I even considered them as some of the best games in the series. But as i played through the games a second time all magic from my first playthrough was gone and the game felt really tedious and boring for the most part.

The arrival of UltraSun & UltraMoon didn't make things better. I really hoped Game Freak was done with making these "3rd version" games. Pokémon Black 2 & White 2 did it right by making a direct sequel to the previous games, almost like how Gold & Silver are a direct sequel to Red & Blue. That way Back & White are still relevant today and not totally absolete.

I thought UltraSun & UltraMoon would improve the pacing of the game, but that's sadly not the case. It still feels like you're in tutorial mode forever, the game constantly holds your hand and every time i think i can explore the world a bit something like a wild Tauros blocks the road. After playing the game for almost 4 hours i couldn't go on, i was bored the entire time.

Also i'm aware many players feel UltraSun & UltraMoon get much much interesting halfway into the game, but i don't want to force myself trough hours of boring gameplay just to get to this point.

And don't get me started on the Sun & Moon Anime. I really liked the way Ash was portayed in X & Y and tought things could only get better from this point. No, instead they decided to throw all of that out of the window and make Ash feel even more stupid then in the first season of the anime. After watching 10 episodes of this season i dropped it hard and never looked back.

On the other hand i really enjoyed the Let's Go games, even though i have a few problems with them, mostly the Master Trainers. Instead of maybe implementing the Sevii Islands from FireRed & LeafGreen or giving us something truly unique they gave us the true definition padding.

Sadly the Pokémon spin-off games this generation were also very lackluster. Detective Pikachu was the only highlight for me. Other than that we just got Pokémon Tekken DX and a couple of uninterresting free-to-play games. I remember Pokémon spin-offs being much more creative and fun in the past.

At this point i really want to apologize. I know i've been very negative about Pokémon Generation 7, but as someone who's been with the series since it started 1999 in europe i was really disappointed about the franchise as a whole during the last years.

My highlight during this generation was without a doubt watching the new Movie "Pokémon: I choose you" in cinemas. Here in germany the last Pokémon movie shown in theaters was the third one in 2001. Just sitting there and hearing the original Pokémon Theme one more time made me cry.

At the end of the day Generation 7 were some of my least favorite years in Pokémon history, but i'm still trying to be optimistic about the future of the series.

Re: New Pokémon TCG Dex Mobile App Lets You Catalogue Your Collection And Discover New Cards

Nagi

Just imagine how a new Pokémon TCG Game on a modern console could be. Having the ability to trade cards online with friends and players around the world, batteling other players and maybe stuff like online tournaments and promo cards you could get at special events.

I just hope if we ever get a new entry in the series in some form on Switch they don't adopt the style of the Pokémon Trading Card Game online. That american Anime style they use is really unappealing in my opinion.

But to be honest even i'm a bit afraid about the possibility of DLC and microtransactions. They could ruin the game for a lot of people or be totally harmless. As long as you don't get vastly superior cards that way everything should be ok. It should rather just give you cards with some alternate artworks.
