Re: Red Dead Redemption Fans Aren't Happy About Rockstar's "Lazy Port"

N-MCMXCIX

What in tarnation do people think is wrong with this port? From what I've seen, it looks like a faithful port of the original, albeit with slightly different lighting and a 21:9 aspect ratio filter. Which considering how making massive changes broke GTA 3, it's probably a good thing that they're mostly leaving it alone. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, and that appears to be the case. As for me, I've been waiting for this port for a long time. And seeing as I still don't have a Switch yet, by the time I'm able to make use of the cartridge, any bugs that may exist should be squashed.

Re: EA Is Encouraging Families To Set Up Parental Controls This Summer

Although this could be just a liability shield for in-game DLC in upcoming EA Sports titles, I have to wonder if at next month's annual September Nintendo Direct, they plan on announcing something with a higher ESRB rating. Recently, the long-time rumors of both Batman Arkham and Red Dead Redemption have proven true. So perhaps it's almost time for the long-rumored Switch port of Mass Effect Legendary Edition to finally come out of the woodwork. Of course there's also one other title I could see them releasing, given the success of It Takes Two, that being A Way Out. But I think Mass Effect is more likely.

Re: Dodgy 'Last Of Us' Clone On Switch Is No Longer Available, Thank Goodness

On one hand, I get not wanting knock-off garbage games that potentially infringe on copyrights. But on the other hand, if it is just that laughably terrible, do the right's holders of the real thing really need to bother putting in the effort to use a copyright strike to put it out of it's misery? An argument could be made that the knock-off is legal as a parody.

Re: Feature: So, Which Zelda Games Aren't On Switch Yet?

N-MCMXCIX

With Link's Crossbow Training, I don't see why they can't include it as a bonus within a future port of Twilight Princess HD. True, the motion controls in the Joy-Con aren't that precise, but they're good enough for House of the Dead Remake. And besides, how do we know the next system won't have more accurate motion controls?

Re: Feature: So, Which Zelda Games Aren't On Switch Yet?

N-MCMXCIX

With Phantom Hourglass, I'd say a Switch port could happen. I'd make for a good bonus within a port of Wind Waker HD. For the touch controls, just use the right stick and ZR like a mouse. For the graphics, again, just swap the models with their Wind Waker counterparts and make the necessary adjustments to compensate for this.

Re: Soapbox: Switch Is Only A Classic Or Two From Being The Perfect PlayStation History Lesson

Ya, it is kinda odd that we still don't have anything Tekken on Nintendo Switch yet. I get not having Arcade Archives Tekken, Hamster probably didn't want to undermine a potential future compilation. But we could have at least gotten a port of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 from the Wii U by now. At this rate, we may end up getting Tekken Advance on GBA Online before we get any "real" Tekken games. As for Ridge Racer, I could them announcing Ridge Racer 64 as part of the next wave of future N64 Online titles. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is an interesting case. Sony has paid to keep the past couple re-releases PlayStation exclusive. However, if SEGA were to do a Saturn mini, we could finally see an official English translation of the Saturn version. And that version could then be added to SEGA Saturn Online if it were to exist. As for Silent Hill, no idea. I suppose if Konami can do a Snake Eater remake and a Metal Gear Master Collection, then the Silent Hill 2 remake isn't enough to rule out a Silent Hill Master Collection. Otherwise, the only other absent classics that come to mind are: Xenogears, which Square-Enix and/or Monolithsoft could indeed be working on. Mega Man Legends, which could either appear on N64 Online, or be the subject of a future Legacy Collection. And Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, which I suppose could also appear on N64 Online, or Game Boy Online, but why is there nothing Tom Clancy on Switch? You'd think we would have gotten something by now.

Re: Feature: 21 Vintage Nintendo Games You Can Now Only Buy For Original Hardware

N-MCMXCIX

Many of these will probably make it to Nintendo Switch Online sometime within the next few years. Mouse and Zapper titles may be a while longer, but they're not out of the question. If they can make Kirby's Tilt 'n Tumble work on modern gyro tech, they can substitute old light gun tech for joy-con. Mouse is easily substituted for an analogue stick and/or joy-con. And yes I am aware the Switch has mouse support, this is for scenarios such as handheld and tabletop mode.

Re: Soapbox: Can We Stop Pretending Switch Can't Run Call Of Duty?

N-MCMXCIX

@sixrings The framerate difference [if any] would not disrupt multiplayer. Framerate dose not equal speed, so it maters not how many frames in a second as long as said second actually equals a second! And you need not worry about synchronization either, the server has buffers to compensate. As for the experience itself, it wouldn't be for the ultra-hardcore brats that insist on 8K 240fps! It would be for the normal folks who are satisfied with 1080p 30fps. Though 60fps is still perhaps a possibility.

Re: Soapbox: Can We Stop Pretending Switch Can't Run Call Of Duty?

N-MCMXCIX

As I said yesterday, when Call of Duty arrives on Switch, it'll likely fix the one problem the Wii U versions did have simply by including cross-platform multiplayer. And again, the one concern I have is simply a matter of whether or not we'll also get past releases such as: WWII, Black Ops Cold War, Vanguard, and now that you mention it; Ghosts.

Re: Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster File Sizes Seemingly Revealed

N-MCMXCIX

As far as a physical copy is concerned, like with most classic Square-Enix titles on Switch, the Pixel Remaster Collection is available through Play-Asia.com. I recommend importing this alongside some other title of interest. Shipping is more cost-effective when importing multiple items in one shipment.

Re: Feature: Call Of Duty On Nintendo Systems - A Brief History

N-MCMXCIX

If cross-platform multiplayer were a thing in the late 2000's/early 2010's, Call of Duty likely would have never left Nintendo systems. With the downfall of the series on Wii U being a result of lobby vacancies, perhaps having players from Xbox and PlayStation join the battle would have helped keep players coming back. But perish the thought to such a thing, was how it was until after Minecraft Bedrock came to Switch in the late 2010's. And even then, it took a year to get Sony on board with the idea of [gasp!] letting players fraternize with players on rival systems. It's reasonable to assume, that when Call of Duty arrives on Switch, it shall have cross-platform multiplayer and therefore not have the same problem that the Wii U ports suffored from.

Re: Poll: When Will You Be Watching The Super Mario Bros. Movie?

N-MCMXCIX

I'm not able to see this or any other films in theaters at this time. Between a lack of funds to allocate to cinema tickets, and my ride not yet thawed out, I'll just have to wait until it's available either in Redbox, or on Hulu. Although I have to wonder, could we see it released on a Switch cartridge? Game Boy Advance Video was a thing, so why not?

Re: Feature: 50 Years Of Landmark Video Games, One Per Year, All Playable On Nintendo Switch

N-MCMXCIX

Why is Resident Evil, and likewise Resident Evil 2, in the Non-Switch Nominations category? Both ARE on Switch! There's a remaster of 1 that runs natively, and a remake of 2 on Cloud. And before you say Cloud Versions don't count, might I remind you that every Nintendo Switch Online title on this list is a cloud version! As for the countability of remakes, The Oregon Trail is a remake! and it's first on the list!

Re: Game Boy And GBA Coming To Switch Online Today

N-MCMXCIX

Upon viewing the Japanese trailer, I noticed three titles not listed here, nor on the Nintendo Switch Online catalogue page. Currently available is "Yakuman" for regular Game Boy. Upcoming is "Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru" [The Frog for Whom the Bell Tolls], the only non Color title listed as such. And upcoming for Game Boy Advance is "Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade", the 6th entry in the series.
