I love AA on the 3ds. The graphics are not as good as the Switch, but the 3ds/ds is just so much more portable and pocket sized while still delivering a console-like experience.

A lot of people are reading this and saying "shame on Nintendo for going after this innocent guy" but aren't those statements from his lawyers, whose jobs are to prove that he is innocent? We haven't seen the other side of the story yet. I don't know anything about this but people shouldn't make decisions based on one article without background info.

I hate this group though. I don't condone hacking of modern Nintendo platforms but from what I've heard, this team just took stuff from community people (who did it for free) and made money off of it.

@Anti-Matter Jailbreaking is not necessarily piracy. Yes, some people use it for piracy, but many do not. You can dump your cartridge games to a digital format and play them without the cartridge! You can install custom themes! You can transfer and backup save data! Jailbreaking allows you to do whatever the 3ds can do that Nintendo doesn't let you do.

I just hacked my 2ds xl. I thought it would be hard but it's actually pretty easy. I also hacked a friend's. I gotta say, it's AWESOME! I ripped my physical games to play without a cartridge and transferring my saves was a piece of cake. I also got some awesome custom themes online. If you have any 3ds model, go hack it right now!

Considering the quality of Shovel Knight, I bet a Yacht Club Games metroidvania would be great.

I got Animal Crossing New Leaf instead of New Horizons when it came out because it was cheaper and I wanted to see if I liked the formula. That was a good idea because I ended up not really loving it. I guess I'm just not a patient person.

@Specter_of-the_OLED Wait what?? No more 2D Zelda? They haven't made one for a while, but are they really giving up on it? Link's Awakening sold really well.

@BTB20 Every week or something, the app checks if you're subscribed and doesn't let you play if you're not. Anyone can download the app.

@Ultimapunch Wii U games were delisted from the online store just a day or two ago. If you go check, none of them are available to purchase. It's like the Wii U never even existed.

I've been looking for an excuse to hack my 2ds/wii u. Here it is, I guess. Now I feel a bit morally better about doing it.

Hopefully this gives a boost in popularity to the 3DS/Wii U hacking scene. I've been wanting to hack my 2DS and Wii U but I've held off because I don't want to hack a system that has an active eShop that sells games and is making money for Nintendo.

Hopefully the value of 3DSes goes down after this announcement, I've been wanting to get a new one but they're so darn expensive!

At first I thought it was sorta lame because there were no classic licensed games such as Pac-Man but now, the business management interests me. Looks cool!

I have no problem with emulation for retro and old-ish games (like Wii) but I think that emulating games that just came out for a recent system is kind of scummy.

It'd be cool if they made a new Paper Mario that's more similar to the older games with this guy directing it. Super Mario RPG 2 would be really awesome but I doubt they'll do it.

I hope we get a rerelease/remaster that touches up the controls and runs at 60fps.

@Don I think that putting it on NSO lets it reach a wider audience. Imagine you're a kid. You're not gonna shell out 5-10 bucks for some lame old game that you're not sure you're going to enjoy. But if you have NSO like most people, you might as well try it out because it's already on your Switch waiting for you.

@Bydlak I disagree with you, but I can see where you are coming from. This art style does look a bit generic but it's pleasant in my opinion and it's done well here.

@Dezzy70 This is a terrible idea. People buy Nintendo systems to play Nintendo games. Nintendo would only do this if the company was at the brink of bankruptcy.

@larryisaman Portal goes on sale a lot. In December, I picked up 1 and 2 for the grand sum of three dollars. But anyway, playing this portably will be really cool

@Joekun I have not personally completed Beginnings, but from what I've seen, Earthbound (in my opinion) has nicer graphics, better music, and funnier dialogue. Apparently, Beginnings is really hard and kind of grindy. I think that most people got into the series with Earthbound so I suggest you start with that. If you really like it, play Beginnings.

@Gwynbleidd I was also sort of disappointed but NSO is better than nothing. I'm hoping that if they ever release Mother 3 then they'll make a trilogy collection so that you can actually own the games.

What is that Mario 3 shirt? Everything else looks decent but for Mario 3 they just copied and pasted the box art onto the shirt.

If I remember correctly, the first Zelda was originally supposed to be about making dungeons and sharing them with your friends. So this is cool.

This might work better with that WiFi Game Boy cartridge I saw here and in a couple YouTube videos.

@Don I love my Wii U. It's really the best console for retro content. You can play NES, SNES, N64, GB, GBC, and GBA games on it. There are even some Wii games available on the eShop like Mario Galaxy and the Wii version of Pikmin. It's really great. I'm thinking of modding mine to play more VC games.

This is awesome! Nintendo has always done better with handhelds, so merging the market was a great idea. I wonder if the Switch will ever outsell the DS, or even PS2!

@eltomo I love my Wii U. DKC, Mario 3D world, BOTW, MK8, Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD, Splatoon, there's a ton of great games for it. PS5 has, uh, Spider-Man I guess. (Over 1 more pixel than the original PS4 release!)

NOOOO not GilvaSunner! Nintendo would make a lot of money by just putting high quality OSTs on Spotify or something, but they aren't. Capcom did this, and now I can listen to Street Fighter music while also giving them money. Putting all their music on Spotify would be like free money. They'd probably make a million dollars overnight.

I think there was originally a SilvaGunner which got deleted. Then, this person in the article made GilvaSunner which will soon be deleted. It appears as if they're moving on, hopefully someone else makes a new channel for all of the Nintendo game soundtracks.

Awesome! I loved Shovel Knight and this looks really awesome. However, in some ways it looks TOO zelda-like. Some of the tiles and elements look like they were ripped right out of Link's Awakening, but that might be a good thing.

I have no idea about this game or how terrible it is, but I wish that more games would use normal 2D art for sprites, like Hollow Knight. I love pixel art but I think it's cool seeing high definition drawings for player sprites.

If Nintendo's going to take down these channels, they need to make some sort of replacement. I would happily pay for a digital collection of game OSTs.

I think that we should give Retro all the time they need to make a great game. However, if it's only a mediocre game, I'll be disappointed.
