This game is brilliant - I've only been playing around 30 minutes and I love it. You said everything in the review - its fun, new and uses the DS in every way. What first struck me is the level of difficulty, even the first few mini games are quite hard and some took a couple of tries to complete.
Another thing is that the amount of effort it takes to play, I got quite tired after the 30 minute session. For example in Antlion, you have to rub constantly for a few minutes. In between the five rounds of a game yoy have a "break time" which gives you a few seconds to get your breath back. This is definitely needed. The difficulty and fun gameplay made it extremely great to play and it should last a while too.
Agreed, I'm not really a big fan of the NFL but the game sounds decent from people who love the sport and from people who don't. If a similar rugby game was to come out I'd be more inclined to get that as I know the sport/players more but it could be that the NFL game is more well made and enjoyable. It really does come down, as you say, to the actual videogame regardless of the sport.
Oh and another question, is the tutorial mode still included?
NIce review. I wanted '07 but never got round to getting it, and was wondering about this, so thanks. This time I'll definitely be getting it before '09 comes around. Good to hear about online, but are there a lot of players playing or do you have wait for a game for a while?
I haven't even completed the first one yet so thats not too bad, for me. And its best to stop while its still good anyway. I'm glada of the news, Retro are a great team and I'll be interested to see what they can come up with.
I remember hearing this had been cacelled and being gutted, whoever told me that - shame on you! The controls are the only thing that could let the game down so yeah I hope they go through a lot of testing for that, and give us support for GC controllers in case they get it wrong.
The couple new ones thrown in for the young un's like that particualar Muse song I don't like but mostly they are all good. I hope the solo in Metallica - One is included.
I can go out and buy a Zelda or Mario game and know exactly what I'm getting, a great game. I have never been dissapointed. So no, I can't really complain.
Damn, I was looking forward to this more than Mario Galaxies (I'm weird like that, I don't even have Zelda yet). Mindless and excessive destruction looked fun and the demo even looked really good graphically and polished. As ReInstall said we will have to wait and hope.
I don't understand all this about David Beckham. Over here in England he is famous because of the football mainly and steps in to the limelight because of posh spice, but over in America she was never that big and they don't even like football all that much. Why do they care? Why do I care why they care?
I see the wii as a system that everyone will eventually have in conjuction with another console, just like an internet enable PC - almost everyone has one. With that in mind it should beat the PS2 given time, aslong as Sony or MS don't bring out something similar but more impressive within a couple of years.
I thought it looked quite nice. I don't see it selling well at all though; to me it just seems like an interactive screen saver. Which is nice and all but the point of a screen saver is that it is there when you aren't using or even looking at the screen. Hopefully we will hear a little more about it which explains some deeper functionality.
Nice to see more games with online functionality. As for the game itself I've had hit and miss experiences with DBZ games so will probably wait for a review before picking this up. Prefferably written by Nanaki
Very varied gameplay there. Nice! I loved the DK games on the SNES and this looks 100% better. I'd like to see it close up as from the video the view seems a long way out and thus Mr Donkey Kong loses his hairy textures that I normally associate to him.
Thanks for all that mate. I too am exited about almost everything announced. I think it met expectations by the sound of it. And I must have Wii Fit now!
The Wii doesn't always have the most accurate controls so it will intestersting as you say to see if it will work. And considering the force that the tower in real life holds back it will be hard to implement the game as the original.
Also it shouldn't work too well or it would become a matter of knowing how to remove a block within the game engine and the only way to lose would be to remove a vital structural point.
It is a good idea especially when the FIFA press contains this little info: "you can learn basic and advanced controls in more than 30 interactive tutorials". It seems the advanced controls will take a while to learn even for a seasoned footie sim player. More importantly, why are bloody spurs beating the mighty ARSENAL in the screenshot? Unnaceptable.
I think it looks worth of being completed. I do like the occasional mindless violence game and aages ago got interested in it. Hopefully we will find out soon, and get a larger version of that pic, it looks bad ass.
I bet they already had the press release saying "sorry" (feebly I must say) ready before they even launched the 'event'. As you said "any publicity is good publicity".
I may have interpreted it wrong but doesn't it say each 'Mii' will have its own code? Hopefully the Mii will keep the code from game to game, so only 1 code will be needed to be remembered. Although the whole system is stupid.
The health game, if it is indeed true, will be a massive hit. Nobody really likes doing exercise so make it a game and then we can stop becoming potatoes, or maybe just make more room for beer
On the other hand it means that we will have to wait even longer to get the full catalogue of NES/SNES/N64 at our grubby little fingers. Just look how slowly it is going atm, especially for the N64.
Nice Angle. I've been tempted to pick this up because it sounds like a nice idea throwing the ball to a player with all the actions. I also have no knowledge of the game. I'm glad it doesn't take too long to get the hang of it and will get it soon (hopefully)...unless a rugby union game is announced.

Re: The Umbrella Chronicles Box Art
I like the title and especially the dark background but the its the umbrella logo(?) that ruins it. Its too focal and seems out of place.

Re: Mario Galaxy's Subliminal Message?
Haha that could actually be intentional. It seems too unlikely to be a coincidence. Brilliant though.
Re: Guitar Hero III Track Listing
It hasn't been confirmed (to my knowledge) in EU yetm but it will be around the beginning of November

Re: Wii Hard Drive Rumour
Being shown at E3? I didn't think E3 was on anymore. Still a hard drive could be nice for some who have money to buy VC games.
Re: Sega's Ghost Squad
yeah, I didn't know it was from the same developers. I loved that game, actually I still might have a copy for my PC
Re: Mario Gets Charged This Week
I'll be picking this up and will actually be online for all of one week before I move again. I'll have to cram a lot of wins to to a single week then.
Re: Armageddon Offline
Why not just delay the game a month or two?
Re: Atari Leave You Alone In The Dark
Sweet. If memory serves, The original PC game was great, if not a little hard (at the time).
Re: Virtual Console Video Previews
It is taking them a long time to get demos out, typical Nintendo I guess.
Re: Resident Evil 4 At Budget Price
Cheap games? Great!
Re: Wii + Dr. Pepper = £££
True, aren't there laws that stop unhealthy products being promoted to children?
Woah, when did I become such an adult!?
Re: GAME Aquires Gamestation
I never noticed the difference between the two before now. True though.
Re: Solid Snake Creator Diggs Smash Bros. Brawl
I wonder how stealth will come in to play for Snake. Has it been revealed yet?

Re: Wii Keyboard Rumours
I find the internet channel keyboard adequate, it's not like I use it to write my essays. Always a nice extra though.
Re: Miyamoto, The Influential
Voted. And not for fanboy reasons at all, I really think he really is the most important person in the games industry.
Re: Data Design Announce Six Wii Ports
Ninjabread Man? Haha I've got to see that.

Re: First NiGHTs Screenshots
I never played the original, on the saturn right?, but I know know I wanted to. This time around I'll definitely get it, I think it looks perty.
Re: Super Mario Galaxy Japanese Release Date
I want all three of those games. But yeah Galaxy will be this years best game, hopefully.

Re: Nintendo Fashion Show!
This is why Nintendo are the well known Nintendo, while other game developers are just the people who make games. Keep up the strange work Nintendo.

Hmm I may have to get one of those myself..with my Mii on it obviously.
Re: Upcoming Summer Release Dates For DS & Wii
A lot of movie tie-ins there and a lack of mention of some games I'm interested in like that flying one.
But, Transformers!
