Stop The H.A.M.M.E.R Time?

A number of reports have surfaced this week that Nintendo has cancelled Project HAMMER, a game that was demoed at E3 in 2006 in which we've heard nothing since.

"Insiders close to development studio NST allege to IGN that the software company's Wii action title, tentatively titled Project H.A.M.M.E.R., has been terminated by publisher Nintendo. Sources further claim that the team formerly working on the title is now underway with one or more efforts that fall into the "expanded audience" lineup of games."

Make of that what you will, all we know is that the game is still listed on Nintendo's US site but without a release date, its not un-common for Nintendo to keep details to a minimum before release, but its also true we've heard bugger all about this game in a long long time now, much like Day Of Disaster.
