Re: Talking Point: Reviewing Nintendo's E3 Press Conference

Kitsune_Rei

I'm just really disappointed there was nothing on Animal Crossing, that was the one thing I truly wanted. Oh boy new games! Wait what about the old promises?

I am not a console gamer, I don't really care about the Wii or Wii U. I understand its their new shiny since the Wii utterly failed to match in the market with the Xbox and PS so they need to focus on that a lot, but don't leave the 3DS in the corner. The 3DS is still a pretty new system, so its sheer overshadowing was a little disappointing.

This isn't to say there aren't definitely games to look forward to. I'm not going to toss my system out a window. I am however pretty likely to cancel my Animal Crossing preorder and use the money I had down since last year (would have earned some interest by now!) on another game. I don't know how else to get the message to Nintendo that this isn't acceptable.

I just hope for the Wii U's sake their launch title promises are a lot more truthful than the 3DS's.

Re: Heroes of Ruin Demo Available This Week

Kitsune_Rei

I really hope this comes to NA soon, this may make a big difference in whether I get this game. I'm really on the fence right now.
That is pretty awesome the demo allows for co-op, since it was a big selling point for the game.

Re: Animal Crossing

Kitsune_Rei

Game Stop makes up fake dates just so they can take preorders. Never trust them for dates, especially if they're not backed up anywhere else.

Re: E3 2012: Get to the NA eShop for Some New 3DS Demos

Kitsune_Rei

Nice to see the new Batman demo, and I'm looking forward to the rest!
I wished all the DS trailers at least were downloadable :< I still watch some of the ones from last time for games that still aren't out fondly. But I'll take what I can get, it does use space, but I still have a good amount free on my SD card.

Re: Two Pokémon Apps Bound for eShop in the West

Kitsune_Rei

Really looking forward to both of these
I was thinking the Pokedex Pro would still have the fun of collecting them, and I thought initially it was rumored the Dream Radar would transfer them over, but I guess that's moot now. Its still fun just looking at all of them.

I'm on the fence about B/W 2, I didn't play B/W and havn't had the time to complete a Pokemon game for a couple iterations. Hopefully someone will make an article about if you should pick up B/W first to play the second one or just skip to it once more info is available. Is the Dream Radar going to be somewhat pointless if you're not getting B/W 2? They seem to really be pushing them together. I guess this is also their incentive for people to get a 3DS since they didn't move up with the actual game.

I still really hope Denpa Ningen will come out :<

Re: Retailers Call for Summer Blockbusters

Kitsune_Rei

I agree that they need to space big releases more. Granted there are big releases I skip, and plenty of not big games I look forward to, but its rough when they get bunched up and I have to choose. Though I'm currently fretting about Pokemon Conquest, Heroes of Ruin, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, and Rhythm Thief, and something else being in a close time period. And KH isn't all that far away either. I hope Animal Crossing doesn't show up at a time I something else I'd like is. Part of it is $$, but part of it is being able to devote the time to each game it deserves. I have trouble finishing games as it is.

Re: Mario Kart 7 Update Available Now

Kitsune_Rei

@TinyMario This isn't the place to find friend codes. If you just google "3DS friend code exchange" or something like that, you'll find a bunch of forums and threads that are specifically for exchanging friend codes, and you'll get a lot more people to do it with there!

Re: Nintendo Download: 17th May 2012 (Europe)

Kitsune_Rei

@chewytapeworm Kirby's Dreamland 2 is longer and has some cute gimmicks. The first one was a pretty early GB release, hence the short and easy. Did you play it again in harder mode at least after beating the game? It was kind of a nice feature that added replay value, though its not that much harder.

Re: Pledge to Diamond Trust of London's Kickstarter Campaign

Kitsune_Rei

I really thought this was going to be an eshop release. I guess it was too big? At least they're getting decently close to their goal so far. But it seems like a lot to put on the line if the game is already done.

I would also hope Kickstarter may open the door for some other worthy games though in the future.

Re: Review: Amoebattle (DSiWare)

Kitsune_Rei

Ugh, I'm stuck on stage 1-4 (were you're supposed to defend the 3 paths with the carnivores). Is there a FAQ for this game? I've tried like 6 times with varying strategies and still am annihilated. When the last huge wave comes, all your energy is gone, and they overwhelm you no matter what. You don't have enough amoebas to keep up the battle on more than one front. What are you supposed to do?

Re: Review: Cat Frenzy (DSiWare)

Kitsune_Rei

@GameCube Really? I thought from the article the gameplay sounded much more like Trozei. I'm not familiar with Link, but I know Trozei didn't play like Bejeweled. I love Puzzle Challenge though, Pokemon Puzzle Challenge was one of my favorite games ever and I wish they'd revive it. Or did you mean they just look similar?

I'm going to have to get this, its only a couple bucks, I like classic puzzle games, and KITTIES! Yeah.
It can't be as bad as Come On! Heroes.

Re: Review: Amoebattle (DSiWare)

Kitsune_Rei

Wow that's pretty awesome a designer actually came on and commented

I picked up the game and I'm very happy so far. The music could be a bit better, but its not horrible (Come On! Heroes is far worse). I guess the only other thing I could suggest is having the option some games have of individually adjusting the music and sound effects volumes separately, as they are both about equally as loud. Someone else mentioned Plants vs Zombies, and I remember feeling the music sounded kind of tinny there but it didn't really bother me. Heck I've noticed the image and sound quality seem lower on some of my game carts than I remember when I played them on my old DS Lite so maybe there is a difference in systems.
I think I honestly would have paid $8 to have a better soundtrack, but I know its harder to attract people at a higher price point. But so far this game seems to have a lot more than most $5 games I've played. I honestly was expecting it to be a higher cost game when I originally read about it and was still prepared to buy it.

I'm not too far in the game yet, but I like the longer missions, I get more invested in exploring the area, and since you can save anytime I can just find a place to park and come back to it later. I'd only have a problem with the long missions if I couldn't save (like with Bookworm, I love that game but it really frustrates me I can't save midgame since it can go on for a long time).

I also really love the graphics, as I expected. Great light game! Circle had taught me to be wary of anything just because I liked the graphics or how it sounded, but this one I was happy for my purchase.

Re: Review: Chuck E. Cheese's Arcade Room (DSiWare)

Kitsune_Rei

Ouch that sounds horrible. I feel bad for any kid who uses their money for it, it seems like the only age that might enjoy it is too young to really be using a DS. I would think most kids, who have played much of any other games, would be bored by it after just a couple plays.

Re: Review: Amoebattle (DSiWare)

Kitsune_Rei

I almost impulse-bought this yesterday, but I realized I wouldn't have time to play anyway so I decided to see what a review said. I'm glad the impluse-buy wouldn't have been a bad choice. I'm getting it now.

Its a real shame about the music, do you think there's any chance of a patch? Or at least adding a graphic icon to show when enemies are approaching so you can play without sound?

Re: Review: Amoebattle (DSiWare)

Kitsune_Rei

@bro2dragons Anything that is cute and monster-like resembles Pokemon. You just have to deal with it. Also, that Pokemon is imitating a cell. So yeah, its likely there's a similarity since they're both microscopic creatures.

Re: Nintendo Download: 3rd May 2012 (North America)

Kitsune_Rei

Really, people are dissing these games that much just because they're not VC?

I was really looking forward to Amoebattle after hearing about it. I love the graphics style and game type. I feel like I should wait for a review, but I really don't want to.
Bird Mania looks like it has good production values. Watching the video, it seems a little fast and crazy for me (I hated those things about Sonic) but it still seems like a safe game to try out for only $2. It can't be worse than Come On! Heroes.
I was even thinking of buying Art Style Pictobits because I didn't want to spend the club nintendo coins on it but it still looked like a good game. Now I may have to wait.

Re: GameStop Won't Be Selling Spirit Camera Second-Hand

Kitsune_Rei

Ugh that rather sucks, but I guess I'm not that surprised. I was just thinking "how will people trade it in if it requires the booklet, and some people may not be savy to that at the store?"
Ah well, I would maybe consider it if it was cheap, but from reviews not otherwise. Maybe it'll drop to being cheap anyway, Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove dropped.

Re: Review: Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir (3DS)

Kitsune_Rei

Ouch. I'm glad I read reviews on most games before buying. I was really intrigued, but also concerned, and it looks like it couldn't get past limitations.
I think some of the other comments are enough I'd pick if up if I saw it on discount, but I'm glad I didn't pre-order and pick it up for full price. There are plenty of games I'm still playing or looking forward to, so for now my money is better spent elsewhere.

I do hope this doesn't dissuade any further games with this type of play in other genres.

Re: Talking Point: Could AR Games Drive eShop Sales?

Kitsune_Rei

I was thinking its been a while since they touched that feature- I know I'd like to see them do more. It seemed strange other things were getting updates, but the poor original AR viewer never saw one, plus the new KI cards didn't work with it.
I'm really looking forward to Denpa Ningen. Also looking forward to the Pokemon apps.

Re: 3DS Gets Pokémon Black & White 2 AR Apps

Kitsune_Rei

Aww, I was really hoping they'd add older generations of Pokemon to the app. It sucks you have to pay, I hope the additional features are worth it since it seems rather pricey, and I thought there weren't that many new Pokemon in B/W 2. The shooter game seems weird, but I guess you get sucked into buying that too since it connects with the Pokedex -_-; LIke $25 for two light apps for Pokemon? Ouch. I can buy Diamond/Pearl for less than that.
I guess I'll be buying them either way. Hope to have a NA date soon.

Re: "Too Many Hurdles" to Ni No Kuni DS Translation

Kitsune_Rei

I'm really sad about this ;_;
I hope they are able to reconsider later.
Also, the DS isn't dead. Pokemon B/W 2 are on DS, and there are still other games coming out for it. There are plenty of people who still havn't upgraded, and its not like 3DS owners CAN'T play the game.

Re: Nintendo Download: 12th April 2012 (North America)

Kitsune_Rei

Hmm, nothing that really excites me. That's ok, I didn't have money anyway. goes back to immensely enjoying Colors
Although I am a little jealous of Europe.

I'm honestly glad they don't release big games that often. Then the other game I just got not that long ago doesn't get neglected. I have enough trouble finishing games as it is. Plus I think most people wouldn't be able to afford to keep up.

Re: New Trainers and Town in Pokémon Black & White 2

Kitsune_Rei

The new trainers are kinda cute, but I don't really like the sunvisor hats :/ I do feel like they're going the FF route of over the top, but at least they're not wearing unequal length pants or something. Honestly, I can't say I've liked the trainer designs much in a long time. There's usually something I don't like about them. I guess its law they have to wear some kind of brimmed cap in the last several games.
My main question still is if I should get B/W 1 now, or just wait and play B/W 2. I heard a lot of great things about B/W, but just havn't had the time/money for it yet.

Re: Miyamoto: "Angry Birds Would Have Been Better on DS"

Kitsune_Rei

While I'd like to see Angry Birds on DS (aren't they working on that?), it would have flopped if that was its first platform. The cutsie web/phone/tablet game app players are very different from the DS/3DS pool of players. You're reaching a lot more "light" gamers (ie don't play many games, are easily amused by basic games) with a cheap product, whereas on DS the development cost is higher and usually people who own a system like that are more discerning. They wouldn't want to pay the price of what it cost them to produce for the DS for what's basically a simple flash-style game. But again, I'm not against us getting some of the better iDevice games for eShop. Why not?

Re: Genius Sonority's eShop AR RPG Looks Mad

Kitsune_Rei

I really want this game to be released in NA! Has there been any news on that? I know its quirky, but I'm hoping the strong sales figures are enough, especially with Pokemon Conquest being more of an unusual game for NA but still seeing release.

Re: Colors! 3D

Kitsune_Rei

I got this, and I have to say, its everything I would have wanted in a 3DS drawing app and then some. Seriously, its well worth the cost. If you have any interest in drawing, get it.

Why its awesome:
Great tutorials teach you everything quickly
Great tools: Eyedropper, Undo, Huge color wheel, Hard or Soft brush, Slider for brush width and opacity
Great features: 5 layers of 3D, Zoom in and out to work in greater detail, Playback of a drawing being made to learn how it was made, Draw with a local friend
Easy to use controls
Make a copy at any point, or export to the SD card photo album to share- Exports are in higher resolution than the 3DS screen!
Online gallery at colors-3d.com : Easily upload to share online, View other user's works in the online gallery through the app in 3D and fav and comment on them, They actually allow some 18+ art (it is screened from users underage or unlogged-in visitors)
