Wow this looks really cute and sounds great! I'd never heard of it so I'm glad I happened to see it here. I look forward to a release date! Keep us updated!
I think I need this game. It looks awesome. Glad to see Pokemon continuing to break away and do non-typical games I imagine this may be a hard sell in NA, but glad to see its still coming here.
I'd been looking forward to this game, glad to see it well-reviewed other than a few small hiccups. Although now with so many games seeing June-July release dates, its making it a harder decision on what to get now and what to wait on.
sadface But honestly one of the reasons I picked Kid Icarus up is I saw there wasn't anything I was really into coming out in cartridge form for several months. Though this may be part of their plan. It'll get here eventually, and I can wait.
They did really screw up at first. That's pretty obvious. For a long time, they didn't give anyone a reason to buy one. Who is going to shell out $250 for a new system just to have a new system when you can happily continue to play the vast majority of games on your current DS? I think most of us have learned by now to wait and see how the game library unfolds. They made some of the most horribly unrealistic promises about big games coming out, many of which we're still waiting for or just recently seeing fulfilled. At least they got their act together enough to release a couple big titles by the holidays. And yes, this isn't atypical of launches. However, why don't they try to make a better launch when they know these problems have happened in the past? I think they just thought the Nintendo name itself was stronger than they thought.
They also WAY over-emphasized the 3D gimmick, and it became a one-trick gimmicky pony system. People became highly dismissive of it.
I would also think developers seeing the horrible sales would want to stay away from the system, and either try one of the newer phone platforms or stick with DS.
But I think its going to pull it out in the end. They've started getting their act much more together this year.
While its not as widely accessible a market as Facebook, imagine how much money those Farmville type games could rake in on the eShop if they were set up to do microtransactions for meaningless stuff and bonuses? Wow.
That being said, I don't think I'd want to see them do it. Its just not quite right for consoles, other than maybe some small add-ons. I'd like to see a more MMO type game for 3DS. Like Maple Story, but not sucky.
Cool to see Mutant Mudds get a demo! It sounds like a great game, but I know I won't be getting it because I hear the difficulty is pretty high and I'm just not that good of a platformer. I'll still poke the demo! I would agree I'd like to see a demo for Rolling Western soon.
I'm ok with another nothing week, I know Colors is coming for me next week <3
As shiny as it is and as awesome that they've really put a lot into the game, I'd still need a demo to decide. Or maybe a game store will have it set up to play. It just isn't a game type I'm good at, so I figure I'll be one of those people who lacks the skill to unlock most stuff, especially with the partial multiplayer focus. Smash Brothers was never a game I was great at either.
I was afraid of this. Looked like it could be cool, but yeah you have to make a fun game if you want your style to fly. At least there are a couple good rhythm games to look forward to or I'd be more disappointed.
I've been eyeing this and hoping for a release Glad to hear something is in the works! Though I'll still wait for reviews to make sure its what I think it is (and not beyond my sucky rhythm game skill level).
Not an exciting week, but hey that means my wallet is safe for now. I know there are a couple things coming soon I definitely want I was just a little disappointed no demo.
I didn't pick up Art Academy because I've been waiting for Colors- I've been wanting a nicer drawing program than the simplistic Swap Note. It just looks so well thought-out and has so much to it I think its a great value (independent developers still deserve to make money for utility apps!). Sure I have Photoshop on my computer, but I'd really love to be able to draw on my 3DS. Plus interactive options! I already saw it listed in the eShop and put it on my wish list. I was glad to see a mention of it in the GDC eshop video.
I hope everyone (who has any interest in drawing) picks it up
I think this has been one of Circle's better titles, but its not saying much- I think its just an ok game at best. It has that same minimally-constructed feel their other games do. I like the puzzle genre (particularly with an rpg flavor), so this different take on it was appealing to me. There is a bit of strategy to hitting big groups when you have max time to make it to the treasure chest. Except the game pretty much insures it appears the farthest distance possible from you, which generally is not accessible in the number of turns before everything flips unless you have a special ability ready. You also had to keep an eye on your HP and not let it get too low before you complete the level. I also didn't see a lot of point to the other characters. I didn't like that the abilities only tell you what they are on the character select, you just have to remember when you're actually playing. Some of them were kind of vague. Mobility is really key in this game, which the Swordman seems best at.
Anyhow, I just really wish they'd taken it a little farther. It could have been a good game.
Thanks for confirming what I suspected. Circle, for me, has quite a track record of making a game that appeals to me graphically and in gameplay style, and sound like they should be good games. They look cute. They sound fun. And then upon playing, you find out what shallow cesspools they are. Now whenever I see their name on a game I just sigh.
"...consistently excellent Castle Conqueror series..." Really? I could probably give them "consistant". But "excellent"? I played CC. It was basic, shallow, and didn't feel more than doing the same thing over and over with little variation in strategy. Sure, its probably one of their best titles. But that's not saying much. I'd say the one I liked best was 3 Heroes Crystal Soul. I liked the puzzle-rpg style, but it certainly didn't offer much in enticement for replay. I pretty much take it out when I have 5-10min to kill.
I really wanted this to be a cool game, since again the initial graphics seemed charming, and I like tower defense (despite how much people seem to whine about yet another TD game.) And its apparently yet another one that fails to do it right. I still havn't found one that feels like a great game.
I'm starting to think when Circle says "with a twist" its time to start running.
Please oh please Circle, I like your style but you need to put something more to your games. I understand these are budget titles, but I'd pay a couple bucks more if they had something more to them.
I love the game, I have the DS cartridge version, but my main peeve is there doesn't seem to be a game save while you're playing! If you're like me, you go on forever, and end up just shutting it off when I really wish I could save and pick up where I left off later. A major oversight on a casual portable title.
I really really wish they'd do a cart of Bookworm Adventure. Its just so much better in the way Puzzle Quest is better than a regular puzzler, since its more stage and goal-oriented.
While I like Popcap, Zuma has never been one of their games that really hooked me (I didn't like Magnetica that much either.) I may pick it up if I really am looking for a diversion, but I think I'll skip this one otherwise.
I do still really want Bookworm ADVENTURE on portable. The regular Bookworm is fun but once you've played Adventure its not quite as good. Or I wouldn't say no to a Plants vs Zombies 2 as long as they're able to keep it fresh.
I'm a little confused by how Spotpass works- so they will show up if you touch other folks playing a game together online like Mario Kart? I notice those people normally show up in your Plaza even though you can't use them for Find Mii or anything (at least not before). I'll have to try it out. I think MK is the only game I currently have that I can connect with other people online with. Though that means getting my butt kicked more ^_^; Bah I'm rusty and unlocking characters in 150cc was ticking me off.
I think its really cool they're distributing new puzzles this way, I hope more will be coming later on! Its also kind of a cool way for them to promote new games (please let there be an Animal Crossing one!)
I had just finally collected all the special pink pieces I needed when I went to a convention the other weekend, though I hadn't finished those puzzles yet. Now I'm going to have to find more pink pieces!!
I was wondering, I noticed the message said puzzles plural unless I'm mis-remembering, will there be a few more that show up?
I'm really looking forward to this, everything I've read about it looks like its a good and well thought-out program, though I'm rather sad it looks like it was originally intended to be out in 2011 and we still don't have a date? Anyhow still can't wait
Hmm, weird. I'll have to wait and see what they end up truly being. Though it seems more strange legendaries are assured. Hey, if its better than the first ones, then I may skip playing B&W and just play the sequel unless there's some reason to have played the first ones. I am a little skeptical about how good it will be since its coming so soon. There's only a small handful of Pokemon I truly like from the new generation.
I've been kind of on the fence about this one (since I've regretted a couple impulse buys in the eShop) and while most game sites have been rating it around ok to decent, but not stellar, it seems like it has a lot of fans that really love it. I think I will be picking this one up eventually, just not yet. I want to get some more play out of other games in case I end up addicted to this one I like tower defense a lot, but actually the action parts of the game were making me hesitant. I don't generally like to have to do defense strategy on the fly and on a clock.
I'm curious but not holding my breath. Its doubtful it'd be anything I would really like (like for 3DS a new Pokemon Puzzle League, Pokemon Snap, or Grey.)
It probably is something about the Nobunaga thing, or a Japan exclusive thing.
I got Reggie's note, but not this one (thought I was already sent the stationary from another SwapNoter). I havn't played any Zelda titles on my 3DS, so maybe it is exclusive to those who have. I'm in NA.
I'm fairly certain NA won't be seen as many titles with DLC possible, but for that sort of price range I'd be ok with DLC. I'm still really hoping Theatrhythm makes it here, though I'd be disappointed if it was one of the higher-priced games since I'll be paying extra for more songs. I also still really want more characters/tracks as DLC for Mario Kart.
I love this game so much. I never would have noticed it but a friend of mine got it and told me I needed to. You can't go wrong for only $2. I was addicted before I was done with the tutorial <3
I can understand them only doing free stuff for special occasion- the 4 swords was for Zelda's anniversary, and they also offered a lot of games to buy, so I think they were hoping the free game nostalgia would hook you into other games. Likewise I think the 3D Pokedex was insidious- our kiddo got a 3DS for Xmas, and she never cared about Pokemon before. Now after playing with the Pokedex, she wants the games and is obsessed with them! (I'd also really like to see an update to it to include other generations.)
Anyhow, I think Nintendo could still benefit from running sales at least, like a deal or two of the week like Xbox. With other iGames, I think they're just going for quantity over more money on each sale, which can really work. There are more people likely to drop $1 to try a game, than $5. But I think in general Nintendo makes it more expensive and difficult to release games on their platform? I'm also highly for more videos and demos (though sometimes a demo can tell you if a game you were thinking of is terrible, so can backfire for them.)
Hmm, Circle usually manages to make games that appeals to me in genre and graphics style, but every game I've gotten from them so far (3 now) has left me feeling disappointed :/ They just feel shallow, like if they'd have just gone a bit farther with it, it'd be a great game. I'm curious about these, but will wait for reviews. I hope they can improve.

Re: 3DS, It's Your First Birthday in North America Today
@Sh00kst3r I did that too ;_; Ah well I guess he would have fallen off eventually if I get a bunch more streetpasses. I was going to re-hire him tho.
I was hoping for Iwata. Oh well glad I got somebody. Yay I finally got a pink piece for the Kid Icarus puzzle from Reggie! And he's lvl 5.

Wow the title alone frightens me.
So, will we see Pokemon + Nobunaga? I'd play it.
