Yeah and the early JRPG' S were japans take on early CRPG's and Dungeons and Dragons. Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Dragon Slayer, Xanadu were mostly grind heavy dungeon crawlers.
Cause the earliest CRPGS were grind heavy dungeons crawlers too, ( for the most part ) took a while for jrpgs to get their own identity.
No no. it doesn't JRPG is a genre definition not the country of origin Most console rpgs were jrpgs untill the sprawling open world of the likes of Morrowind* started becoming feasible on consoles.
the trappings of JRPGS tend to be : grinding, random encounters, more grinding, overwrought straight jacketed story, usually lots of cut scenes, very linear, anime art direction, more grinding.
( * early Crpgs ie computer, RPGS tended to be grind heavy as well, but were usually dungeon crawlers.)
Yes let's pretend that this isn't just an off hand game tossed at us from a shoddy subscriptions service people pay money for it just to keep us, the rabble happy.
I'd rather have the VC shop back with n64 and Cube games available.
yeah, no.
Sony offered a quality online product for the ps3 for FREE
and they have done so, for 14 years.
Why should Nintendo get a free pass ?
I agree with most of your post but Sony has offered a service of comparative quality for the ps3 and that's been free since 2006.
Nintendo has no excuse.
@PickledKong64 And it's even more galling when you consider that it's free on the ps3. And that the ps3 is a system that's 14 years old now, and is free and does it better.
That's as maybe but you should have said something to the effect in your original post. Because most countries, most other posters are from, myself included ( the West ) are not bootleg free for alls. When we talk about mods we tend to mean either mods for pc games or projects like this.
There is piracy here for sure. There is piracy everywhere, but it's not so bad that you can buy a pirated modded game in the shops.
He complained that modders are misleading and create "dirty" nude mods cause he once played a unlicensed nes rom hack as a kid. ( av bishojo senshi girl fighter )
Just because YOU had a single unfortunate incident with a modded game, doesn't mean all modded games are like that
Not too mention that this is a demake of Mario Sunshine. A lot of modders manage to do amazing things, solely because of their love for the medium or a game.
From the Metroid 2 remake, ( AMR 2 ) to recreating Vice City in GTA 5 to recreating Tomb Raider 2 in the unity engine from the ground up. To recreating the entirety of Morrowind or Daggerfal in the Oblivion of Skyrim engines as mods.
And that's just the ones from the top off my head. It's disingenuous, not too mention selfish and myopic to discount all the great mods out there, just cause you happened to come across one you didn't like years ago.
Sahttered Memories is a fantastic Silent Hill game. its both a retelling of 1 from the point of view of Heather as a child. ( ie why Harry can't fight back.) As well as a sequel to 3, because Heather deals with her trauma of that game.
I'm a huge Transformers fan. And even as a fan I soured pretty quickly on the bayformers series. Especially when it became evident, that each movie was even more stupid unfunny and insipid then the previous one. Until Bumblebee came along and that's because Bay doesn't have his finger prints all over it.
Point being ? Even if fans are getting what they want ( or don't want but the mainstream "loves"it ) the movies aren't necessarily good.

Same color in the comics.
He's had that for a while now.
it stil looks daft on him.
Re: Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3's Fantastic Four DLC Launches On 26th March
@patbacknitro18
I bought that movie recently on blu ray.
I am going to regret that wont i ?

We need to be reminded cause the kine up is so stellar ?
N64 and Cube plox.
Re: The Witcher 3 Switch Dev Saber Interactive Snapped Up By THQ Nordic Parent Company
@Gwynbleidd
No, but as usual as these things go we have no say in it.
Re: A New Fox Emerges On Switch This Spring In Explorative Adventure Spirit Of The North
@HappyMaskedGuy
That goes for pretty much all animals, whom should be treated far better then they are.
And deserve better lives then they have.
Re: A New Fox Emerges On Switch This Spring In Explorative Adventure Spirit Of The North
@shani
How ? You can see a normal fox under the text, and the text clearly mentions the title.

@Amin_Parker
If only.
Re: Talking Point: Is Nintendo Switch Online Good Value Compared To PlayStation Plus And Xbox Live Gold?
@mesome713
Because that was and stil is FREE ?
If a company charges money a paying customer can expect Something that's at least half way decent.
Re: Talking Point: Is Nintendo Switch Online Good Value Compared To PlayStation Plus And Xbox Live Gold?
@Primarina
But i WANT the VC games. I want Nintendo to set up the VC shop again and sell those games again.
And add Cube and Wii games.

Maybe.
Depends on the pricetag.
Re: Talking Point: Is Nintendo Switch Online Good Value Compared To PlayStation Plus And Xbox Live Gold?
@mesome713
Don't give them ideas.
Just cause you are willing to hand money hand over fist for a laughable service doesn't mean others are.
Re: Talking Point: Is Nintendo Switch Online Good Value Compared To PlayStation Plus And Xbox Live Gold?
@flojomojo
Better service ?
Less archaic design ?
Cloud saves all across the board ?
More games ?
The virtual console store back ?
Re: Talking Point: Is Nintendo Switch Online Good Value Compared To PlayStation Plus And Xbox Live Gold?
@mesome713
Xbox Live Gold and PS+ clearly disagree there.
Re: Talking Point: Is Nintendo Switch Online Good Value Compared To PlayStation Plus And Xbox Live Gold?
More retro games especially the N64 and Cube.
Re: Modder Recreates Super Mario Sunshine Inside Super Mario 64's Engine
@PickledKong64
I agree with that people tend to be way too hard on him.
Especially cause his grasp of English might be a tad weak.
Re: Overwatch And Diablo Animated Series Are In Development
@GrandScribe
So less dumpster-fire and more tactical nuke ? Okay.
Re: Surprise! First-Person Shooter Warface Is Now Available On Switch For Free
I'll pass but its cool for those who like this type of thing.
Re: Overwatch And Diablo Animated Series Are In Development
Maybe Blizzard should fix the dumpster-fire that is Warcraft 3 reforged first.
Re: Get Game Boy Classic Zelda: Link's Awakening DX For Less Than £3 With My Nintendo (Europe)
I got a cheesewedge 2DS, so I might go for this.
Re: The Man Behind The NES And SNES Is Holding A UK Talk Next Week

Cause the SNES games would be extremely expensive, if all the required chips were on cardridge.
( assuming you arent joking off course)
Re: Video: This 20,000+ Domino Piranha Plant Is Hugely Satisfying To Watch

Absolutley not.
And I wil avoid the hype too, cause i haven't watched TV since 2015.
Re: Video: This 20,000+ Domino Piranha Plant Is Hugely Satisfying To Watch
@infernogott
I hated domino day. Ell the bloody hype around it, that lasted months for an relatively short event.
Was bored of it after the first time.

Nintendo bringing Cube games to the NX is as likely as Sega stopping with its 16 bit fixation.
Re: The Man Behind The NES And SNES Is Holding A UK Talk Next Week
That should be good.
Re: Modder Recreates Super Mario Sunshine Inside Super Mario 64's Engine
@k8sMum
That's what I got from his comment anyway.
One bad modded game means all modded games are bad apparently.

2 comments.
He complained that modders are misleading and create "dirty" nude mods cause he once played a unlicensed nes rom hack as a kid. ( av bishojo senshi girl fighter )
So clearly all mods must be bad then ever since.

Re: Review: Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate - An Iterative Update For Hardcore Fans Only
@scubydo
Nah. 6 is pretty fair. It means better then average ( 5) or sub standard, ( 4 ) poor, ( 3) abysmal, ( 2) or avoid ( 1 )
This is an actual 1-10 scale. Not a IGN pretend 1-10 scale, where they dole out 7-10's and 7 means poor.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #30 - Quest 64 / Holy Magic Century
@SKTTR
That's why I said could kinda and rpg lite.
Goemon like the two Zelda's are more like action rpg's
and Shadowgate 64 ?
...Well you do role play in it.
The n64 is so devoid of rpg's that semantics matter.
Re: Video: Our Spoiler-Filled Thoughts About The Sonic Movie And Why We Loved It So Much
@La-weejee
I disagree
everybody has an opinion and they are welcome to air it, whether it's positive or negative.
I have zero interest in this movie for example and the only reason I'll ever watch it is when i pick up used and cheap.
Re: Review: Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate - An Iterative Update For Hardcore Fans Only
@Wargoose
I used to play DW4 Empires a lot
Haven't touched it in 15 years though
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #30 - Quest 64 / Holy Magic Century
@technotreegrass
An SNES style rpg would have made it a better game
But 2D was very much person non grata at the time.
Re: Video: Our Spoiler-Filled Thoughts About The Sonic Movie And Why We Loved It So Much
@Anti-Matter
It'll be 26 Feb before you know it.
I'm personally surprised its already 16 Feb and we are closing in on the third month.
2020 is nearly 3 months old already......
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #30 - Quest 64 / Holy Magic Century
@EarthboundBenjy
Shadowgate 64 and Mystical Ninja starring goemon could kinda count as rpg lite.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #30 - Quest 64 / Holy Magic Century
Hey look my suggestion got picked up.
I solely wanted this one for the horrendous USA cover art.
By the gods is it bad.
And we wil follow the life and adventures of a man ..err boy called BRIAN.
Voted Europe btw.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 15th)
@jarvismp
I'm trying to get to grips with that game.
No luck so far.
Re: Video: The Limited Edition Game That Costs More Than A Nintendo Switch
Seen even more expensive games.
That Saints Row Gold edition for example.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 15th)
@NintendoByNature
They are Steam games though so I am considering breaking out trainers so I can get through them.
I just have too many games to do it "legit"
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 15th)

its both a retelling of 1 from the point of view of Heather as a child. ( ie why Harry can't fight back.)
As well as a sequel to 3, because Heather deals with her trauma of that game.
And it gets way too much flak.

Pretty sure your son is exactly the audience they were going for.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 15th)
@NintendoByNature
I got way too many long term games
Including several FF games and 3 Yakuza's.
That's 500 hours there easily.
