What would happen if you combined the graphics, style and input of the wonderful Super Mario 64 with the gameplay of the equally wonderful (yes, we said it) Super Mario Sunshine? Well, probably something like this.

Modder Kaze Emanuar has released a new Super Mario 64 mod which plays out as a miniature version of GameCube's Super Mario Sunshine. A trailer for the project was released (above) featuring a cracking mashup of the Super Mario theme and The Jackson 5's 'I Want You Back'. You weren't expecting that, were you?

You can see the mod in action in the video below. Emanuar walks us through the project, showing off the early, familiar locations of Super Mario Sunshine - who could forget the sights and sounds of Delfino Plaza? - and how the world looks and behaves in the style of Mario 64. It might not be as polished as an official release, but it's still pretty fun seeing the two games mashed together like this.

While we're on the topic, where's Super Mario Sunshine 2, Nintendo?
