Not a single IP comes to mind that could compete with Pokemon. Sadly, the success of Pokemon isn't about the quality of the games but the IP itself. Stuff like TemTem or Digimon is nice and all and they maybe are also better games than Pokemon is but people don't care because the Pokemon franchise isn't attached to it.

Judging by the comments I saw about the success of this game some people don't seem to know that they have the option to just not buy the game or at least to refund it if they don't like it. I've bought both games and technical issues aside it's very addicting and enjoyable to play. Though I hope they will fix some of the issues through patches (I doubt it though)

@johnedwin Oh I've played many. Just nothing released that is Game of the year worthy outside of Elden Ring this year imo.

Putting the technical issues aside, I've been addicted to this game since launch. If Elden Ring wouldn't have released this year then Pokemon SV would be my game of the year so far.

The only huge problem that comes out of this is that I don't think Game Freak will bother patching the technical issues now. I mean, why would they? the game is breaking records and is selling even in its bad state.

@broskiplays lol no. There are many games on the Switch that are much bigger in scale that run smoothly and look prettier than SV. I agree that this isn't GameFreak's fault. This is 100% a time constraint issue.

@Bluelink45 Games like Genshin Impact and Pokemon Go actually opened my eyes to mobile gaming. It's still not my favorite way of playing but not all mobile games are bad and many actually can be fun. Though the vast majority is predatory af and that needs to change...

@Anti-Matter This is like the worst take ever lol. Why would the biggest franchise in media copy some random small time game from a studio that is one step away from bankruptcy?

Also they already did the 3 vs 3 battles and nobody cared enough, so they scrapped this feature from future titles.

@Savage_Joe They are building new factories. It will just take until 2024 for them to be ready to produce chips. So around 2025 we might see things normalizing again

I finished Metroid Dread yesterday. What an amazing game it is! Definitely a Game of the year contender!

Right now I'm playing Tokyo Mirage Sessions. I very much like the game so far and feel it's kind of underrated tbh

@SwitchForce What PS5 game would that even be? All games so far for the PS5 appeal mainly to western gamers aside maybe from Demons Souls but that one is already a year old by now.

I am fine with how it is now. I am paying for this service out of necessity since I can't play online otherwise. Same with my PS4 and PS Plus. And I'll gladly pay 20$ a year for a service instead of 60$

The Switch is the only console I buy physical games for. The eshop prices are just too horrendous and sales are laughable.

Animal Crossing over Doom by far for me. Liked the first Doom (2016) but nothing breathtaking to be honest. Animal Crossing on the other hand is one of my favourite franchises <3

I swear to god if I can't reset my game for shiny hunts without the game autosaving I am not going to buy the game. This is the last straw, cutting Pokémon wasn't enough?

Sakurai at least delievered the ultimate version of a game in a franchise that already had a high quality. He put in ALL Characters, he reused assets from the Wii U version BUT increased the quality of the textures, shades and lighting effects.

Game Freak just cuts off Pokémon and claims the reason behind it is the quality of models and animations. Must hurt to be the worse child, huh Game Freak?

Oh, I was completely wrong all this time! I am glad developers and publishers are educating us on things we are way too stupid to understand on our own! Otherwise I would have thought they just reused the models from the 3ds games. Thanks Gamefreak!

Masuda already stated that every Pokémon game from now on will NOT have all Pokémon in it. Those of you saying they will just update the game over time or we will have all Pokémon in the next game are either not fully informed on the Situation or just plain delusional.

I agree. I bought a Switch with Pokemon, Mario Odyssey, Zelda Botw and Mario Kart for my little Sister this Black Friday and I am planning to gift it to her on Xmas.

This is so childish. I was very sceptical too but I pre-ordered the game regardless. And oh boy I sure am happy I did. In my opinion this game is the best Pokemon game since Diamond and Pearl. Pokemon kinda lost its way in the last few Generations. Especially Generation 7 was really rough and I am glad Gamefreak took a step back to uts roots with this game.

If you have Bluetooth 4.0 LE your Phone wont be supported at all btw. If you don't have 4.1 LE or higher you are funky kong trousers out of luck. Either buy a new phone then or don't give a damn about one of the biggest features of this game, I guess?

Picked up my copy of Let's Go today. I arrived 5 minutes before the store opened and there already were like 50-ish people to get their copy too. This is huge in my country because people almost never line up for games before a store opens (not even at the release of Read Dead Redemption 2 was a line like this present). And in 3 weeks Smash Bros Ultimate will release too. Yeah, Nintendo will be fine.

Why push the 2DS now? I bought a New 2DS XL this year too but don't get me wrong I am very happy to play some older games on it. It doesn't need new games that could have been on the Switch instead. Let the system die already and release a handheld only version for the Switch that is cheaper but can't be docked with unremovable joycons for those who can't afford the system.

Why? I refuse to use motion controls or the touch pad. There better be an option to just press a button to throw a Pokeball.
