I honestly didn't expect World of Goo to do so well given the high price. Very happy to see it doing successfully, I downloaded the PC demo today and absolutely loved it
Just finished this, not a bad game at all One or two slightly annoying moments (Like on the last level where you're climbing staircases and enemies land on you without warning) aside, a really fun platformer with some lovely visuals and pleasant music. I don't think it's quite as good as Yoshi's Island, Super Mario World or Donkey Kong Country 2 but it's certainly up there. Great game!
This game is absolutely fantastic, and I will be more than happy to pay for a WiIWare version. For anyone who hasn't played it I can't recommend the PC version enough, or the WiiWare one of course
I just hope this doesn't mean the DS homebrew port will be cancelled, as I really want a handheld version of the game.
This is a game that really needs a demo, as I don't know if I'll like it or not and don't really want to spend £7 to find out. Are Nintendo not allowing demos?
@Matthew It hasn't appeared on the top 20 chart in the UK, which I'm betting is down to the price as Pop seemed to do pretty well and is also a puzzle/shooter hybrid!
It's a real shame, as I personally love puzzlers but this sounds like it's trying to be too many things at once. Something like Space Invaders Extreme would be a good example to go by, incredibly simple to play but with lots of hidden gameplay mechanics that the player discovers to perform better at the game. Presenting lots of obstacles all at once isn't the way to make games challenging and deep.
This is such a fantastic game, and probably the definitive Bomberman (though I've always wanted to play the Sega Saturn version). I've had it for less than a day and have already racked up four-five hours! And I'm 50th on the leaderboard at the time of writing.
@Swordplay It's a semi-remake as some of the levels are clearly based on the MD/Genesis game but the controls, level design, story and bosses are all new. It's a good game although it feels slightly unpolished in places (The top down helicopter level is horrendous!), I'd reccomend tracking it down. I'd reccomend Astro Boy on GBA even more so, one of Treasure's finest games that
I always really liked Clu Clu Land on Animal Crossing, I'd personally give it a high 3/5. Sure it's a bit...odd, but it's quite fun and it's pretty different to anything else you can play.
@Looca I'm not denying it's an impressive game for its time, I just personally found those flaws to really hinder the game for me (And can you explain as to how they are weak protests? It's a bit unfair to shoot them down as that and not say why)
As I say though I think I need to give the game another chance, and try to play it in multiplayer as I hear it's a much better experience with friends.
I absolutely loved the N64 Mario sports games, so it's good to see them reappearing on VC. I was always more for Tennis than Golf but both are excellent and incredibly fun games.
I also really liked the handheld versions, which are proof that the world needs more sports/RPG hybrids! I imagine quite a lot of people missed out on them so hopefully they'll get a new leash of life via a handheld VC.
I'll be honest, I was pretty disappointed with this when I finally got a copy a few years back. I thought the combat was pretty weak (And hated how you couldn't avoid spells), the comrade AI terrible and didn't like how you had to be so close to the end of the screen to make it scroll.
But you know what? I have this nagging feeling that I need to give it another chance, especially since it's such a nice looking and sounding game. So maybe I'll rebuy it via the VC and enjoy it as much as others have done
I do really like Space Invaders but I don't think I 800 points like it. Still Space Invaders Extreme on DS (And PSP I assume) is fantastic and highly recommended for anyone wanting a Space Invaders fix
I hope it's sold well enough to meet Two Tribes' expectations at least.
The UK chart:
1.My Aquarium 2.Defend Your Castle 3.My Pokémon Ranch 4.Wild West Guns 5.Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People Episode 1: Homestar Ruiner 6.TV Show King 7.Lost Winds 8.Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King 9.Cocoto Fishing Master 10.SPOGS Racing 11.Pop 12.Dr Mario & Germ Buster 13.Pirates: The Key of Dreams 14.Block Breaker Deluxe 15.Star Soldier R 16.Toki Tori 17.Actionloop Twist
Finished this today although I still need to get all the trophies and such. I think the score of 7/10 is fair as the gameplay side can definitely be improved on. I personally found the game pretty easy, which is quite something considering how easily I get stuck on point and click games!
I enjoyed it overall though, being a Homestar Runner fan, and I look forward to the next episodes. As long as the quality of the writing and characters stays equally good and the gameplay becomes more challenging!
Also after finishing the game I can't talk to Coach Z without the game freezing on me. Turning the Wii settings to 4:3 seems to correct the issue however. Here's hoping they send out a patch soon.
This seems like a good idea and they've definitely picked the right price for it (Hudson have learnt their lesson after Star Soldier R!), but I'm not sure if it's for me. Maybe when I get some more points I'll check out a few videos and consider it.
Uggh, not happy at that at all. I know it's too early to judge (And if the game turns out good I'll still get it) but it's this sort of thing that makes me dislike DLC overall =/
I can't agree enough Epyo. Sonic 2's level design is fantastic and paced perfectly, and is very replayable. And the emphasis on momentum really makes the game fun to play around with, as well as adding depth as you say.
But Metropolis a flaw? =O That's one of my favourite stages! Though those green enemies who threw blades were annoying, but what 2D platformer doesn't have annoying enemies?
I've been playing this lately and...I don't know, maybe I'm too critical these days but I'm not really a fan. When the level design isn't being very confusing, it seems to be overly reliant on pixel perfect jumps.
It does have its moments but the design feels a bit off to me. Which is a shame as I quite like the style of the game, the music is awesome! And I quite like the laid back yet still challenging pacing of the game. It's just the level design that bogs it down.
Maybe I should try and complete it before evaluating it (The furtherest in I've gotten to is one of the ice levels) but it's probably about 6/10 to me. Still the sequel seems to be a very different game, maybe I'd prefer that.
I think the question of which version is better is down to personal preference. Having played the Plug In and Play version of the Mega Drive game extensively and then the SNES one on VC, I really like both, and they each have small advantages over the other.
If you can put up with the awful digitized voices, this is a great version of a great game
Super Mario Kart is one of my favourite all time games. Utterly superb and I can't wait for it to go on VC (Even though I have a perfectly working SNES cartridge!)
I love Lemmings but unfortunately Sony own the rights so that's one we definitely won't be seeing. Still there's an excellent homebrew version of the game on DS
Nothing wrong with it not being an exclusive, if anything I applaud Capcom for making the effort to release it on all three services, the only developer who seems to try and do that with their downloadable games. MM9 is shaping up to be excellent and if more people get to play it then that's certainly not a bad thing
Toki Tori should be doing better But if it stays around that position for a while without dropping significantly I'll be happy with that. I just want a sequel!
I'm quite surprised at how many console owners don't make an effort to go online even if they have the hardware for it (Wireless router etc.). I think Nintendo should make a big push about the things you can do with your Wii online, I can imagine that improving VC/WiiWare sales. I guess the question there is if the marketing costs would be worth the pay off, but I think it'd be a shame if the majority of Wii owners didn't experience VC or WiiWare, which have delievered some of my personal favourite Wii experiences.
I just finished it after getting it last Sunday with playtime of 2:51 (So add about four minutes to that for the section that occurs after the last save) and 22 out of 24 statues.
Overall I really enjoyed it, but I think the level design needs to take a slight step up for the sequel. I thought the design was good in this but I think it could have been of a higher standard to be seen as equally good as the excellent gameplay mechanics.
That aside I'm glad I downloaded it, it was a really relaxing and fresh game. Probably my second favourite WiiWare game after Toki Tori.
Hmm, I'm actually pretty interested now. I was cynical for a while but if it turns out to be a good platformer I think I'd really enjoy it. I'm not a fan of the rag doll animation though
Here's the UK chart for comparison's sake: 1)Lost Winds 2)TV Show King 3)Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King 4)Dr Mario & Germ Buster 5)Toki Tori 6)Star Soldier R 7)Actionloop Twist (Just released)
TV Show King hasn't always been that high, a week or so back it was lower than Toki Tori, FFCC and Dr Mario.
Good week, PPL is an excellent game and probably my favourite multiplayer puzzler, and I'm strongly considering Samurai Shodown after enjoying it on Gametap.
Burning Fight seems meh, but at least we're getting Neo Geo games now
This is my first WiiWare game and I absolutely love it. Great graphics (Looks lovely via component on my HDTV), a surprisingly nice soundtrack and some solid, challenging puzzle gameplay. As a huge puzzler fan it's Heaven for me! Thoroughly recommended

I'm a huge Treasure fan and Dynamite Headdy was the first game of theirs I ever played, so it holds a special place for me. Highly recommended!

Re: Review: MadStone (WiiWare)
Hmm the supposed lack of strategy puts me off a bit. Good review nonetheless
Re: Cave Story
Cave Story is fantastic and easily one of my all time favourite games. I'm very happy to see it'll get a new audience via WiiWare

Re: Adventures of Lolo 2
Go for 1 first and if you like it go onto 2. 1 has a much more gentle learning curve and 2 is basically designed to be followed by the first one.
After leaving it for a while I've picked up Lolo 2 again and am really enjoying it

Definitely one of the best WiiWare games out now
Re: EU WiiWare Update: Plättchen, Bomberman Blast, and Midnight Pool!
I'll be getting a points card this Saturday for Do Re Mi Fantasy on VC and Bomberman. I can't wait!!
Re: Shin'en Interview - Fun! Fun! Minigolf
It sounds very good but I would have preferred to have both the in game characters and Miis Still I look forward to it.
Re: Review: Groovin' Blocks (WiiWare)

Woo leaderboards!
I'm not terribly happy about the pricing but Space Invaders Extreme was ace, a real handheld gem. I expect good things from this Taito!
Re: Top 20 WiiWare Games in America (20th August)
Toki Tori; the year's most underrated game

Re: Top 20 WiiWare Games in America (6th August)
