Re: 3DS Mario Titles Land in November and December

Jango-Forest

Wait. Super Mario 3D Land? What's with the weird word ordering there? You'd think it would be "Super Mario Land 3D", which sounds miles better.

I'm not so fussed about "Mario Kart 7", that series has always had terrible names, and the number isn't so bad anyway.

Re: NES and Game Boy Advance Games Coming to 3DS Virtual Console

Jango-Forest

While I'm very pleased with my ten GBA games, it does seem a bit of an odd decision to never release them to the "general" public. The price drop should make a huge difference, and if it doesn't, the 3DS is buggered.

I still prefer the original cartridges to anything on the VC, and I have most of the GBA games I would ever want, so hopefully we'll see some fairly obscure gems pop up.

@ZachKaplan
Ah, I was just referring to the top screenshot. As one option it says, "Put Makeup", I was merely suggesting an "on" would make more sense. Then again, I don't know much about the lingo of make-up artists.

Re: Uncharted Studio: "Wii U is Full of Holes, Nothing Sony Can't Do"

Jango-Forest

@11 I don't see what the difference is, he says it has some "very strange holes in it" but he's sure they'll make some "amazing games for it." Which translates roughly to what you said anyway.

Will the PS3 be around for long enough for developers to even consider using the Vita as an add-on? Their lifetimes will only overlap by a year or two so there doesn't seem to be any point in making games that take advantage of both, only to be rendered obsolete soon after.

Re: Talking Point: Wii U - Revolution or Evolution?

Jango-Forest

If I'm being honest, just the fact that it's HD is enough for me to buy it, but that doesn't mean I don't have any reservations. The screen is a nice idea, nothing more, and certainly not gobsmaking, but I just think it's a bit on the large side. And those circle pads make me wonder how comfortable the thing's going to be, give me a joystick for a home console any day. I liked the freedom the Wii remote and nunchuck gave your hands, they weren't cramped up the whole time. All these cameras and hoojamaflips in the controller don't interest me at all. I don't like using the word, but they seem a bit gimicky. I booted up Face Raiders once, and never used it since, so anything similar on the Wii U is a waste of time. Keep the gyroscope though, that's dandy. I'm also worried about how developers are planning on using the screen. I'm not sure I want to be continuously looking down at the thing in my hands, and then having to swipe at it, or whatever. On the other hand though, I want it to be used for more than just a menu screen, which seems inevitable.

Then there's the problem of the fact it's called the "WII U". It's possible many of the "casual" crowd won't distinguish it from a regular Wii, thinking perhaps it's merely an overly expensive add-on controller. The vague E3 presentation didn't help either, for about the first five minutes I thought it was exactly that, seeing as there was initially no new console to be seen. Not to mention that there weren't any first-party games on show. All in all, it was a pretty shoddy presentation. Having said all that though, it will be interesting to see what people will come up with, but it's certainly not worthy to take up the Revolution's mantle. However, that doesn't necessarily mean it won't be a great console, it's got a lot of potential, I just don't want to see that abused. If you see what I mean...

Re: Iwata: "We Must Continue to Combat Negative 3D Rumours"

Jango-Forest

As a 3DS guinea-pig, I can confidently report that I have not, as of yet, been blinded by the 3DS. During the first couple of weeks, I did, however, experience "light" headaches before the 3D effect become somewhat unnoticeable. In this respect, at least during the short term, I can deduce that the 3DS has not damaged my tender, developing eyesight. Having said all that though, my research alone isn't going to be enough to persuade people and neither is Nintendo. They need the backing of some world-renowned optician (apart from me) to dispel these rumours. Of course, there's always the possibility that in two years time my sight will have been damaged beyond repair by the 3D, but at least I'll have played Luigi's Mansion 2.

Re: 3D Classics Urban Champion Coming to Brawl on eShop Soon

Jango-Forest

Never heard of this before, but if it's renowned as a dodgy sort of game, what's the point? I'm all for pushing less well-known titles but surely there are some better ones out there. And what does Iwata mean when he says "initially six" in the Classics range? Is he implying there's going to be a prolonged gap until the next batch?
