I think there's great potential for this in co-op — imagine using Remote and Nunchuk on the TV while your buddy uses the controller. Want to give him/her an item? Just grab it and point it at their screen. Genius.
Also Wii U will almost certainly come with a charging cradle you can use to stand up your controller.
Oh, and anyone who can't see the potential for this — Metroid and Zelda could both use it in incredible ways.
@metafaniel Nintendo is basically talking up KI's online functions here — you do not need to be online to participate in this event, Nintendo's just saying that KI has online play. I would assume Nintendo is using Meetup Everywhere to see how many people are attending
@Kirk The patent specifically pertains to the Circle Pad's "ornamental design" , but of course it's possible Nintendo patented this before launch and simply decided on another design. We may never know! Looks nice though.
@Gustoff We have a great thread in the forums dedicated to 3DS friend codes Mine is in the first page somewhere. I won't have time to play online this week but I'd like to join up for some races next week!
@TinyMario If you want people to add you to your 3DS use the Online Gaming forum which has dedicated topics for 3DS friend codes and Mario Kart 7. Please stop posting your friend code in news stories.
@Uncle_Optimus You know, I'm really not sure. It would make sense — that way you have a two-player system right out of the box — but Nintendo may be hoping to subsidise the cost of the machine by selling Wii Remote Plus controllers separately.
@LEGEND_MARIOID Do they? That would certainly be interesting. I definitely haven't heard anything about that. I wonder what Zen Studios will show off at E3 this year.
@Brando67854321 What would you have preferred? We had Super Hang-On last week and this week an arcade game that (afaik) has never left Japan. This is a golden age for Virtual Console (arcade)!

Re: Redesigned Wii U Tablet Controller Is Revealed
Yummy yummy. Just makes me want it more.
Clickable analogue sticks are a must if Wii U is going to offer the core games we all claim to want.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend?
@OldBoy Come out and say hi on Sunday if you like!
Re: Review: Mario Tennis Open (3DS)
What Jon hasn't told you is Diddy Kong's serve animation is amazing.
Re: Colour-Based AR Patent is Hot Stuff
@L4DYK0M1C It's just a drawing for the purposes of patent applications — DS patents use drawings of prototype consoles, for instance:
Don't read too much into it, unless it's a patent for a new kind of 3DS of course
Re: Nintendo Patent Reveals Wii U and Remote Interactivity
@3dbrains "The wii remote can NOT tell what sensor bar it looks at."
Seems it works by calculating spacial differences between two reference points — i.e. it's using the Wii Remote Plus's motion sensing doo-hicky.
Re: Nintendo Download: 17th May 2012 (North America)
@3DS_Supporter Looks like 5th June to me.
Re: Nintendo Patent Reveals Wii U and Remote Interactivity
Different infra red frequencies perhaps, or based on distance between Wii Remote and sensor bar?
Re: Nintendo Patent Reveals Wii U and Remote Interactivity
@Randomname19 Yes, it says so in the article

Re: Review: Monster World IV (Wii Virtual Console / Mega Drive)
@Fuzzy Sounds like you need to put your Wii in interlace mode. Post 7 should help!
Re: Project X Zone Details Sure to Push Buttons
@zenarium Hey I had no idea you'd played it already! That's literally incredible.

Kingdom Hearts AR cards information.
Re: Nintendo Download: 10th May 2012 (Europe)
@GamerZack Atta boy.
Re: FIFA 13 in Development for Wii U
Make it like PES on Wii but with touch screen controls please. Or Konami needs to make PES Wii U. I'm easy either way.
Re: Ben 10 and Friends Join Wii U Line-Up
@Jamouse Kinda young to qualify, don'tcha think?
Re: Nintendo Patents 'Ornamental Design' for 3DS Circle Pad
@hendie001 I know GameStop was supposed to have a new shipment in recently but it kept getting delayed. Hope you find one soon!
Re: Review: Sonic Labyrinth (3DS eShop / Game Gear)
@RadioShadow Sorry you didn't find the review that informative. Cheers for the feedback though!

Re: Nintendo Patents 'Ornamental Design' for 3DS Circle Pad
I expect a snap-on attachment to be revealed at E3. It'll retail for $20 and GameStop will never have it in stock.

Re: Make Your Own Movies in Pokémon Black and White 2
@Travis1984 I think it refers to recording video in-game, like the replays in other Pokémon games
Re: Goooooal Europa 2012 Has the Best Name on DSiWare
@ChristopherM No you're right, it's not foosball, my mistake! My mind is boggled by how many possible variations there could be of tables + football.
Re: Buy Sonic Soundtracks For All Generations
Oh, they're only in the US iTunes store, not the European one.
This is payback for all the 3DS Virtual Consoles games we have, isn't it?
Re: Buy Sonic Soundtracks For All Generations
BUY ALL THE SOUNDTRACKS.
Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend?
I am not playing the new Animal Crossing. God, I wish. I am playing games that are already announced but I cannot say what they are for a week. Sorry.
Re: Nintendo Download: 10th May 2012 (Europe)
@GamerZack It's total rubbish and you know it.

Re: Europe Gets Rayman Origins 3DS Demo This Week

I'll be interested to see the feedback on this one from those who've played it on other consoles.
Re: La-Mulana Director Would Welcome Offers from Publishers
@hydeks Where have you been for the last three years?
Re: Cloudberry Kingdom Will Be Wii U's Most Difficult Download Game
@Zephren All the levels are generated in real-time, so there's nothing to memorise. It's different every time you play, hence the infinite levels
Re: Cloudberry Kingdom Will Be Wii U's Most Difficult Download Game
I hear they have a great parks and recreation department.

Re: Ubisoft Announces Avengers Game for Wii U
I find it most interesting this is a motion-based game coming to Kinect and Wii U. Could Wii U have some full body-tracking capabilities, perhaps?
Re: Nintendo Applies for Patent on Wii U Golf Tech
@Burning_Spear EA Sports will certainly have a big presence on Wii U
Re: Nintendo Applies for Patent on Wii U Golf Tech
@Demonic It seems important to golfers.
@Jumbif From last year's Wii U fact sheet: "includes... camera, a microphone, stereo speakers, a sensor strip and a stylus"
Re: Nintendo Applies for Patent on Wii U Golf Tech
@rjejr There's a sensor bar on the new controller
Re: Gaijin Games Drops Another Hint of Runner 2 on Wii U

Re: Nintendo Download: 10th May 2012 (Europe)
@GamerZack Never played Sonic Labyrinth, have you?
Re: Nintendo Download: 10th May 2012 (Europe)
@Tsuchinoko You have G Sonic/Sonic Blast right? It's coming to Europe soon apparently. Would rather have that than Labyrinth, but there you are...
